I was in a very difficult divorce where I had just lost jurisdiction. Thus, the case was going to be handled in Colorado, rather than Virginia, where I live. My attorney in Virginia was incredibly bad, and I wasted a lot of money on that short case alone (I shouldn't have lost).
I was referred to Greg by a colleague of my father's from another state. I am incredibly grateful that I found Greg. One would assume that having a divorce attorney located literally across the country would be frustrating. It was not, in any way. The distance could have been a mile, and it would not have been any different. He not only kept me constantly informed, but he was also incredibly accessible. While most attorneys are available during business hours, or by phone and email, Greg was even accessible via text. Who does that?! Thus, if I had an emergency, or quick advice, he was swift to answer. And it's not like he was charging me for every little bit of communication. He was honest, and he was good.
Greg listened to my concerns and reviewed the case honestly. He didn't pull punches, and he was always candid with me about the likelihood of winning. He kept me even keeled, gave me excellent advice, and above all, he was wise in everything he did. Wisdom is an extremely rare trait to have. He has it in abundance. It's not knowledge. It's not smarts. It's different.
In the end, I won! It's difficult enough being a male in a divorce/custody case. It's even more difficult when you're in the military and live in Virginia. But I won. And while some things dropped in our laps, I owe my win to Greg. I am forever grateful to him.

Bill is an excellent attorney who helped me through a high-conflict divorce with his strategic and calm approach. He is very patient and thinks before he reacts. Chris helped me with a long aggravating divorce which was made harder because of a some other family items outside of just my marriage. I initially spoke to Chris when a friend referred me to him for consultation regarding starting a divorce process. However, it was soon evident that I would need to hire a lawyer to help me navigate what was potentially going to be a messy and long divorce, mostly concerning money and our one child together. Michael was absolutely professional and accommodating throughout the entire process of my custody battle and court hearings. He explained everything clearly and walked me through every document and scenario that came my way. He gave me thorough input to help ME make decisions that were best suited for myself and my family. Getting a divorce is hard...being divorced can be pretty great though (if you have a good lawyer!) That's where Emily at Ellison Law came in for me. I had an extremely contentious and drawn out divorce due to my ex not wanting to cooperate and be civil. Kim went above and beyond for me. I was fired unjustly, and we received a settlement. Kim was compassionate and wanted to help me due to her ethical and empathetic nature. Kim took my case, knowing that she may not be commpensated at all. She let me know she wanted to at least stand up to them. I highly recommend Knies, Helland & McPherson. Jenni (Helland) did an amazing job. My ex and her attorney were very antagonistic, liked to draw out the process, and did everything they could to drive up legal fees. Jenni was great in understanding what was happening and the likely outcomes or consequences. She avoided emotional arguments, and instead made sound legal ones. More importantly, she advised me when I was making an emotional decision and gave recommendations on what actions I could take that would be legally successful. Having someone in your corner that was willing to tell you what you needed to hear, instead of what you wanted to hear saved me thousands of dollars.
This is not a law firm that will needlessly drive up costs. For example, I was never charged for attorneys fees for anyone Jenni may have consulted with (this is a frequent tactic of less reputable law firms). I was never given a weekly 'update' that created billing hours even if nothing was happening in the case. Jenni never had me make needless discovery requests, subpoenas or motions that are typical and drive up costs.
I had a more experienced and higher hourly rate attorney than my ex, but my ex's legal fees were 30% higher because of all the shenanigans they played.
Jenni will give you the legal experience you need without driving up costs.
