I recently hired Paul to represent me against my ex-wife for custody and support proceedings. He was the third person I consulted with and it did not take long to know I was in good hands. I chose Phyllis Bookspan to help me through my divorce because I wanted a barracuda with a heart. When I looked at her background, I was impressed with her credentials (Georgetown Law-I knew she would be intelligent and hard-working) but also knew she would be the right lawyer for me because of her background in Yoga and Mindfulness. I walked into her office looking for a collaborative divorce, but when she heard my history she put down her notes and clearly told me exactly why that would be the wrong decision. She will tell you the truth, be empathetic but professional, and listen to your feedback as you go through the process. We found Larry after years of a bitter custody battle. He was the first attorney that actually helped us. Don't let his pleasant demeanor fool you--he's an ACE in the courtroom. Gordon was my 3rd consultation, so how different he is, stood out immediately, and I knew right away that I found just what I needed. He is compassionate, passionate about his clients well being, incredibly fair, always there when needed, and a great sense of humor, when direly needed. My divorce dragged out for 4 yrs, from my spouses end, with him going through 4 attorneys, so I got to know Gordon very well. His years of experience was very helpful in that matter in knowing all attorneys we were dealing with . It was a long road, but in the end Gordon was able to hold on to what the court had mandated for me, and more. I can't say enough as to how foruntate I was to have found Gordon Brown.

Gordon Brown is a one in a million, you could not ask for a better lawyer to fight for your child/children. He puts his heart in his work and once you meet him there is no questioning that. He makes you feel comfortable in the court room and really fights for what he believes is the best interest for the child. He is a genuine person which is truly rare in most lawyers. I can not say enough wonderful things about him and would truly be at a lost without him as an attorney. You will not find a lawyer better than him, i guarantee that. In my last court date my lawyer fought for more time for me . My original outline was just weekends during the day supervised of course . He helped push for dinners during the week which to me I thought was awesome to have more time . He also seems very passionate about my case with every passing court case he's always trying to push for sonerhing new . I would recommend him to any of my friends .

Attorney Benson was and is amazing!! She did a fantastic job throughout my entire case. From the face to face when I met her to the actual hearing I felt very confident with her. The lawyer before her I had didn’t defend me like I thought he should have so thats when I found Sydney. And I’m so glad I did. If you want an excellent lawyer, chose attorney Benson. From experience, I learned that you need an attorney with an “aggressive” personality. I say that she is aggressive because she goes above and beyond and she keeps it real with her clients and when presenting her case. I hired her and I had sent her an email with so many questions. She got back to me on a holiday- in a timely manor. Regardless, she gets back to me in a timely manor- ALL THE TIME. The other night, she emailed me and answered my questions. We were emailing each other on and off until about 11 pm. Mind you, her office closes at 5pm. Being in the situation I am, she takes my case seriously and let’s me know everything will be okay. She is very professional and also sincere in everything that she does. I have faith in her and she has proven so much to me in a short period of time.

See the other 1 start reviews as they are extremely accurate. She is horrible with communication and will do nothing you ask of her. If and when she actually does communicate she will send a single email so she can say she did her job only to then never respond. You will hire a new lawyer and see that she has sent half of the emails she claims to have sent to the opposing counsel, even though your invoice showed more. Your new lawyer will end up receiving notice that you rejected something from opposing counsel that she never notified you of to begin with. She will do the bare minimum and when you call her out, she will just throw a tantrum like a five year old causing further problems for your case. Do not work with her unless you want to be mis-represented and waste your money.

I hired Abigail in January 2023 to handle my divorce. I was told that, given the circumstances, it would be a fairly simple process and anticipated it would be completed within 90 to 120 days. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I often found myself trying to contact her for weeks without receiving a direct answer about the status of my case. Abby frequently excused the delays by claiming it was because I wanted to minimize costs. While it’s true I was mindful of expenses—as a single mother of three working two jobs—I still expected the work to be completed efficiently.
Abruptly, at the end of October, Abby informed me that she was “winding down the divorce portion” of her practice and told me I needed to find new counsel. By this point, she had depleted my retainer and most of my additional payments, leaving me with no choice but to spend more money on hiring new counsel.
When my new attorney reviewed my case, they found that Abby had done nothing but file the initial complaint during the entire time she represented me. Furthermore, Abby had “highly” recommended I accept the support amount offered, even though it was lower than appropriate. She had advised me to request APL (Alimony Pendente Lite) but failed to mention that accepting the proposed support amount would reduce payments due to the assumption that the children’s father would have custody 35% of the time. This was despite me explicitly telling her that he had no interest in being involved with the children.
Abby not only severely misrepresented me but also left me in an unethical and difficult position, forcing me to scramble to find the funds to hire new counsel.

In a time when stress is at an all time high, you need people like the staff of Lightner Law Office to be there! From the initial phone call all the way through the process, I never felt alone. I could call or email with "dumb" questions or frantic thoughts of panic and EVERY time after, my mind and heart were at ease. Andrea is simply the best and Thom, Sue & Amanda are top notch!!! I never felt like I was being a bother with my many questions and no matter what "weird" situation I THOUGHT I had, they assured me that it was a normal question and provided me with a reassuring answer. Attorney Boyd, from the start, had my best interests as his priority. I feel he connected personally with me and I never felt disadvantaged. I retained Attorney Boyd in April of 2011 but delayed any action as I worked to reconcile my marriage. He was very supportive and kept me abreast of my legal stance and obligations but only when I contacted him. Eventually in August of 2012 I gave Jeff direction to proceed. I was very impressed with his counsel and the outcome of my case. With out a doubt he was superior to the apposing attorney. I retained Aimee around 2 years ago after working with 2 attorney previously. Aimee has completely exceeded my expectations in multiple court hearings and ongoing disputes with support/custody. We have been using Aimee since 2006 when we first contacted her to obtain custody of our grand daughter. In that time she has provider execellent services to us in obtaining custody, getting the father to provide child support and eventually in getting the father and mother to finally give up their parental rights so that we could adopt her. Aimee also helped us in preparing our wills so that all our childern, both natural and adopted, would be equitably taken care of when we died. She also helped in setting up the legal and medical care of my wife's physically and mentally challenged younger brother. The latest service was in making changers to our wills when my wife's sister died. If you need a lawyer who is caring, capabile, friendly and professional then we strongly recommend that you look into the services that Aimee can and will provide.

Family law issues are often challenging and my situation was emotionally one of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to go through. From the very beginning, Greg exhibited a very compassionate demeanor. He explained the process in detail and was really great about talking me through all options available to me and the process and things to co wider for each one.

I have struggled with finding the right attorney for years hired 3 others before I found Mr. Thomas. He got me my divorce in under a year! This was no easy task my ex had his brother defending him so he had the luxury of no attorney fees and I have 3 children. I was always getting threatened by the other party to take my money , but Bruce was there there to let them know they had no grounds and I felt like I had someone on my side for the first time. Divorce is not any easy thing but having an attorney like Bruce made a little bit better. Jeanne was the counselor for my divorce from start to finish spanning 3 & 1/2 years. She represented me during multiple court dates and legal actions. I never felt that she advised me to take any unnecessary or adversarial legal actions throughout my divorce. But she does respond appropriately to aggressive actions taken by other parties. Because Jeanne specializes in family law, she is very knowledgeable about all aspects. I have not found this to be the case with attorneys who do not specialize in one area. Mark has been an incredible lawyer. He always puts my kids first; when I am not sure what is best for them, he gently spells out the probable outcomes of all of the choices in front of me and almost always comes up with one or two others that I did not see. Mark gives me all the information I need to make decisions and points me in the direction he believes will be best, but he always makes sure to tell me that all decisions are mine to make in the end. One of my favorite things about Mark is that he urges me to grow in my dealings with court and with my ex. For example, he recently saved me over $600 by convincing me that I could successfully argue my case in front of the master without him. Obviously, this is in my best interest, not his. This is just one example of why Mark rates so high on the scale of trustworthiness. I would recommend Mark without hesitation. In fact, I would say that you would be foolish to choose another attorney.
