I can't say enough good things about Manning Law! After my car accident, I was really stressed and didn't know where to start. From the first call, they made me feel like I was in good hands. They took care of everything and made the whole process easy for me. They were always there to answer my questions and kept me in the loop the whole time and I appreciated the personal touch.  I'm super grateful to Joanna and the whole team.

I had a great experience with my personal injury claim under Manning Law’a professional guidance. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services to anybody. My attorney Bobby Hashemi was compassionate, understanding, supportive, and able to effectively communicate and explain the whole legal process so you don’t feel left out without understanding what’s going on. The private investigator Joanna Garzon was also beyond helpful! Great communication and they don’t stop fighting until you feel a just resolution can be agreed on. I’d like to thank everyone at Manning Law in helping resolve my claim!

Please be more personable. Your posts are public. She will respond, which is appreciated, but does no substance in her responses and then gets upset when flaws are pointed out, that she could easily work on instead of berating me that she offered a free low-value response. Responding for free gives you leads. Learn to be kind and help others. They will probably be more likely to seek you out effortlessly.

I contacted the legal firm last minute and they were by far, the friendliest. I very much appreciate the knowledge and support I received. Attorney Yelena took on, an extremely difficult case. She worked tirelessly to make sure that the truth was told and presented with utmost care and professionalism. Although we faced challenges, she has stood by and guided me through the entire lengthy process. She gave all the time and attention that was needed to be successful. I would like to thank Attorney Yelena and her team for all the hard work and for handling my case with such expertise, and most importantly, for making the entire process easy!

This Attorney is a victim of an angry questioner that refused to identify themselves. As an attorney, this smacks of falsity. Ms. Gurevich is a fine Attorney that faced the music and has done right by her license. Do not be dissuaded by the one poor review, of a person that didn't identify themselves or hire her.

This man is awful and his practice is unethical. He got a free 1000 from scamming my family. Didn’t even bother to look up my father’s case we literally paid him 1000 for him to see my father in person and demand more money. He did not look up his case or offer any type of consultation on how we can help my father. BEWARE of this awful unethical attorney that’s ok with scamming families out of their hard earned money.

Unfortunately, I have worked with many lawyers in a 30+-year career as a principal in the securities brokerage, clearing and investment banking businesses. My employment with legal counsel has been with large national firms and independent attorneys. I have used the legal services of Pat Baldwin for securities issues and contract work over a 20-year period in at least 12 assignments and have found his insights, experience and presentations in hearings to be legally sound and cost effective. Mr. Baldwin has been thorough and professional in his preparation of cases in order to obtain the respect of judges or arbitrators. The hourly billing rates are competitive, if not lower, than larger law firms with attorneys of equal experience and the results have been good.

Patrick Baldwin of the Baldwin Mader Law Group did a stellar job in his representation of me in a highly contentious matter. This dispute entailed securities law, and investment/financial analyses. The Baldwin Mader Law Group were professional in every aspect of their representation of me. They achieved exceptional results in a complicated dispute.I have known Patrick for many years, and he is an extremely kind, astute and efficacious attorney. His work is outstanding.

As a former client of this firm I cannot express how profoundly disappointed I am with their lack of professionalism, and client communication. I was given misleading expectations which were not at all well-handled. I was blindsided by them three weeks before going to my long awaited hearing. In an email written by Patrick Baldwin on a Saturday night, I was unexpectedly told I had to wire them a substantial amount of money in order to go forward with the hearing. It was an amount nearly equal to what I'd already paid them over the prior three years. No verbal communication or explanation, just an email which amounted to a shake down. In earlier emails from them I was told it would be a two day hearing and they outlined the expected cost. I'm then astounded to find out they increased it to a four day hearing which substantially increased the cost. There were no changes in the simple case from the time they said it would be 2 days to the now 4 day surprise. I was stuck. I lost all trust in them and decided to cut my loses and take a settlement, even though I very much wanted to go to hearing. The settlement figure amounted to less than half of what I paid them. And I paid them a lot due in no small part to what I strongly feel to be their questionable billing practices. Their billing practices fit the stereotypical mold of a firm who appears to overbill and under deliver. I have repeatedly gone back and pointed out to them what they did. I even offered the firm an opportunity to address my billing concerns and, in my view, make things right with a discount. They proudly stood by their billing entries without a hint of contriteness and offered no attempt to discuss the concerns i raised. Instead I get a threat from Baldwin saying that he will be "entitled to our fees at our regular rates should you assert these issues and cause us to incur time defending them. We guarantee you, we will vigorously pursue any fee we incur against you." You'd be best to bring your business elsewhere as the personal touch, sense of decency and fairness are simply lacking with this firm.

I won't go into detail about why I needed a great attorney - suffice to say - I needed big guns and superlative expertise in a complicated financial matter. I chose Mr. Lipman based on questions posed to other attorneys - I asked them if they were in trouble - who would they hire? Mr. Lipman knows how to defend you and get the best possible outcome - .

I hired Lipman as my attorney by a soliciting letter that mailed to me in 2008. I was in Orange county, CA, and his office is in San Diego, my case was in district court in Santa Ana. He promised me that he will travel to Orange county for my trial if needed and would stay in his sister's house ( in Orange county ) to get my business and I singed a flat fee contract with paying him upfront. We had 8 co-defenders in the case and he told me that the chance to win the case in trial was less than 20% and advised me to plea. Out of 8, 4 plead and 4 went to trial and won the case. I had repeatedly asked him why other co-defenders don't want plea and asked him to communicate with their attorneys but never get anything back. Most of the time was his assistant answering my question. An ethical attorney would recommend you find a local attorney or attorney that worked in the court where your case is; He was not in OC, CA and had little in any experience in OC Fed district court. He is not a competent even he was expensive compared to my co-defender's attorneys, not even as good as public defender. Even with plea I got the worst result compared with other co-defender who plead too, although I was not the people who got most of the money from the "crime".

Mark Kleiman is unprofessional and disrespectful to his clients. He took my case on a contingency basis. Upon doing so, Mark gave me the brunt of the work to do in filling out several extensive documents with detailed information, which was the foundation for the case. Upon completion Mark explained that he will review the documents and get started on the case. “Get started” consisted of his asking for a copy of my employment documents from my former employer. This was the extent of what Mark did. He would ignore my numerous calls, emails, and voice messages left in his office leaving my case unattended to. Mark never made any efforts to call me regarding the case. His legal assistant however continually reassured me that he was indeed working on my case. As several more months passed, I finally got Mark on the phone after many attempts of reaching him, and he apologized for not attending to my case because he had personal things to attend to. He admitted he never even looked at the case. He however promised that he would not take on another case or attend to another case before mine. He vowed that at the end of the month, he would have reviewed my case, have a document ready to send to my previous employer, or at that point give me the name of another attorney that he had spoken with that could take on my case and finally help me. This was two months ago. I never heard from Mark, nor would he return any of my many emails, phone calls, or voice messages. After 6 months of being misled, manipulated, and disrespected as a client, I have decided to let others know to be careful of this attorney. My case now is by the wayside due to Mark’s lack of professionalism and promises to attend to my case. I am disappointed because I have put my faith in him to help me through an unfair circumstance and now I am left at square one.

LINDSEY compromised my case. my attorney acted against my interest. I paid all his bills, close to $33.000 and in return i got a jeopardized case. I do not believe for a second that mistakes were negligent. I believe he wanted me too loose, because with each inaction and a with each mistake i was getting more and more frustrated. I was asking him to follow up with meet and confers as required, he did not. Deposition he took was a joke. he did not asked single follow up questions. the opposition got away with 175 unanswered question. Terrible experience.

Sean answered my calls or called me back right away. I had a Spousal support case where my ex-husband was receiving support while living with his girlfriend before the divorce was final. I found Sean by searching for P I 'so in the area where he lived. I live a long distance away. Sean not only investigated my case, his report convinced the judge to terminate the support order, but also he was very encouraging to me when we talked. He was my cheerleader. I needed that. I had had 2 different attorneys, neither of whom were encouraging at all. They did produce some useful documents and guidance through the court system for a total of $7000. After letting the 2nd one go, I had the bright idea to hire a private investigator and Sean was great. He helped me through my pro-per trial. I highly recommend him when you need someone with experience.

Airene is the lawyer for 422 S Lake St, Los Angeles, CA 90057 apartments which is manage by Moss and Company Property Management. This woman attempted to commit fraud by serving us eviction notices for paid rent. She would not answer calls and claimed she had no papertrail of the paid rent. She purposefully would not let us pay rent to make it seem like we were non paying. After recording her and her staff at Moss and COmpany and confronting her with claims she made on calls and then claimed she never promised that, paper work would appear. Please see past reviews as she is know fro identity theft fraud and even attempted to make a case on behalf of a deceased person! How this disgraceful person continues to not be disbarred is a failure on behalf of the state. To save some time, we sought out this woman after being handed a letter saying that we had committed fraud (which was definitely not the case). When we arrived, not only was she visibly not interested at all about what we had to say, but was beyond disrespectful. She urged us to leave her office immediately and suggested that we were fraudulent and we couldn’t even directly work with her. She was everything but welcoming, never followed up about our case like she said she would, and still had the audacity to belittle us. I’m appalled at the way she treated us and hope that others see this review and think twice about working with her in the future.

I Contacted Airene when her name appeared on a counterfeit looking court document delivered to my husband in GA 30 days after the documents "reply by" date by a homeless looking male. We believe it was meant for my son with a similar name. The name on the document was different than the envelope. Son was a victim of ID theft in CA. While he was still in college someone filled out a lease application in CA using his name, DOB, and social but everything else obviously fabricated. Email address was @comfypillows.com, claimed a wall street career making over $600k, he was a 23 yr old student. A criminal ring was responsible and an arrest of R. Carrasquillo, (case number 19HF0143) was made. Left her relevant information and asked for return call. She never responded. She represents and/or is affiliated with Valencia Associates LLC and Sierra Corporate Mgmt). They harass and pursue money from victims of Identity Theft. Assume it is for (illegal) write offs for REITS and/or personal gain. A quick reply or communication of any kind would have explained the situation. A modicum of due diligence follow up would easily confirm laughable applications used to place collection accounts on out of state victims, locate police reports filed by the victims, identify orange county detectives assigned to related cases etc. She should probably be investigated and disbarred.

Firstly, let me say this. Matthew is a fine young man and I think he will do better in the future. He was fairly responsive and always kept me in the loop on what was happening. This was extremely important to me as my case was of a sensitive nature and I felt that he was there for me the entire way through the process, even though we did lose. The disappointment comes in the sense that it seemed like Matthew was disorganized. The information that I gave him in secret was revealed to others whom should not have known of my case. I believe that these are simply matters of integrity, however, Matthew still was a very nice fellow. I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

What a Consumer Protection Lawyer Can Do for You

A consumer protection lawyer specializes in safeguarding individuals from unfair, deceptive, or fraudulent business practices. These lawyers advocate for the rights of consumers in disputes with businesses, helping clients recover damages related to fraud, defective products, false advertising, or violation of consumer protection laws. They work to enforce laws that prevent businesses from taking advantage of consumers and ensure that businesses adhere to fair practices.

Whether you’ve been the victim of a scam, sold a faulty product, or misled by false advertising, a consumer protection lawyer can help you navigate legal options and pursue justice.

When Should I Hire a Consumer Protection Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a consumer protection lawyer when you’ve encountered unfair or illegal business practices and need legal assistance to resolve the situation. Common scenarios include:

  • Fraud or deceptive business practices: If a company misled you into purchasing a product or service under false pretenses, a lawyer can help you seek compensation.
  • Defective products: If you purchased a product that was unsafe or defective and caused harm, a lawyer can help you file a product liability claim.
  • False advertising or unfair pricing: A lawyer can assist if you were misled by deceptive advertising or charged for services or products in a way that violates consumer laws.
  • Debt collection harassment: If you're being harassed by debt collectors or are facing illegal debt collection practices, a consumer protection lawyer can enforce your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
  • Credit report issues: If errors on your credit report are affecting your financial standing, a lawyer can help you resolve disputes with credit reporting agencies or creditors under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
  • Predatory lending practices: If you've been subjected to unfair loan terms or practices by payday lenders or mortgage companies, a lawyer can help you challenge the loan and seek a resolution.
  • Data breaches or identity theft: If your personal information was compromised due to a company’s failure to protect your data, a lawyer can help you recover damages related to the breach.

What Does a Consumer Protection Lawyer Do?

A consumer protection lawyer provides a wide range of services to help protect consumers' rights and seek compensation for harms caused by businesses. Their role may include:

  • Filing lawsuits: Representing clients in lawsuits against businesses that have violated consumer protection laws, whether through fraud, deceptive practices, or negligence.
  • Negotiating settlements: Working with businesses or their insurers to negotiate fair compensation for damages caused by unfair practices or defective products.
  • Pursuing class action lawsuits: When a company harms multiple consumers, a lawyer can represent a group of plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit, seeking collective damages.
  • Advising on consumer rights: Helping clients understand their rights under various consumer protection laws and advising on the best course of action.
  • Handling product liability claims: Representing clients who have been injured by defective products and holding manufacturers or retailers accountable for the harm caused.
  • Defending against debt collection harassment: Enforcing the rights of consumers under the FDCPA and other laws that protect individuals from abusive or unlawful debt collection tactics.
  • Resolving credit report disputes: Helping clients correct errors on their credit reports that may be causing financial harm or affecting their creditworthiness.

How Are Consumer Protection Lawyers Paid?

Consumer protection lawyers typically use different fee structures depending on the complexity of the case and the type of legal work required. Common payment methods include:

  • Contingency fee: For many consumer protection cases, such as class actions or product liability claims, lawyers may work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if they win or settle the case, taking a percentage (typically between 25% and 40%) of the awarded amount.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex cases or ongoing legal disputes, some lawyers charge by the hour. Hourly rates can range from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For specific services, such as reviewing a contract or filing a small claim, a lawyer may charge a flat fee that covers all the necessary legal work.
  • Retainer fee: For clients needing ongoing legal assistance, some lawyers may charge a retainer fee, which is an upfront payment that is billed against as the lawyer works on the case.

It’s important to discuss fees upfront with your lawyer to understand how you’ll be charged and to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does a Consumer Protection Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a consumer protection lawyer depends on the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the type of legal service required. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fee cases: For cases handled on a contingency basis, the lawyer typically takes between 25% and 40% of any settlement or damages awarded.
  • Hourly rates: Hourly rates for consumer protection lawyers generally range from $150 to $500, with higher rates for more experienced attorneys or cases involving complex legal issues.
  • Flat fees: For specific services like contract reviews or handling a small claims case, flat fees may range from $500 to $2,000, depending on the scope of work.
  • Class actions: In class action cases, fees are often paid out of the settlement or damages awarded, and individual plaintiffs usually do not have to pay upfront.

Make sure to ask for a clear estimate of costs during your initial consultation to avoid surprises and to understand how much you can expect to pay.

Top Questions to Ask a Consumer Protection Lawyer

Before hiring a consumer protection lawyer, it’s important to ask questions to ensure they have the experience and skills to handle your case effectively. Key questions include:

  1. What experience do you have with consumer protection law?
Ensure the lawyer has specific experience handling cases like yours, whether it involves product liability, fraud, or debt collection issues.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, a flat fee, or a contingency fee, and ask for an estimate of the total cost of your case.
  3. What is the likelihood of success for my case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of your case and what outcome you can reasonably expect.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Make sure the lawyer has experience dealing with similar legal issues, whether it’s credit report disputes, data breaches, or defective products.
  5. What is the timeline for resolving my case?
While it can be difficult to predict exact timelines, the lawyer should give you a general idea of how long your case may take to resolve.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case, so it’s important to know who will be working on your claim.

How to Check the Credibility of a Consumer Protection Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable consumer protection lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Check for experience in consumer protection: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to confirm they specialize in consumer protection law and have handled cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their ability to handle consumer protection cases.
  • Look for industry affiliations: Membership in organizations like the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) can indicate that the lawyer is committed to protecting consumer rights.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a consumer protection lawyer, come prepared with all relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Details of the product or service in question: Bring any purchase receipts, warranties, or contracts related to the product or service involved in your claim.
  • Documentation of your complaint: Provide evidence of your complaint, such as email exchanges with the company, photos of a defective product, or a timeline of events related to the dispute.
  • Communication with the business or debt collector: If you’ve communicated with the business or debt collector, bring copies of letters, emails, or phone logs.
  • List of questions: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes for your case.
  • Information on damages: Be prepared to discuss any financial losses or harm you’ve suffered as a result of the unfair business practices, including medical bills, lost wages, or emotional distress.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer understand your situation more effectively and get the best possible legal advice on how to proceed with your case.
