I applied for the Human Resources Assistant position with Stinson, LLP in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in August 2024. I was called the next day after applying via their online job application on their website. My initial telephone interview was with Chelsea L. Clennan, Director of Human Resources for Stinson, LLP, who's located in their Wichita, Kansas office. Chelsea was immediately complimenting me, telling me that any employer would be lucky to have me, that my skillsets are perfect for the role, that they would move quick for me in the recruitment process, they would make same-day job offers if needed-- immediately raising red flags for me that she was not a genuine person. She immediately moved me on to the second and final stage of the hiring process: the final interview with the hiring manager, the HR manager of the Minneapolis office-- both of whom reported to Chelsea. My suspicions of Chelsea would prove correct when, all the sudden, after letting her know after my final interview on Friday afternoon that I did have another offer, which I'd received the day prior, Chelsea responded to my email quickly, letting me know her and her hiring team would meet on Monday. In her email to me, which I've attached, she even told me her team considered me a top candidate. Monday came and went-- nothing, crickets. Tuesday, I received the attached screen shot email, letting me know they'd meet later that day. I replied, thanked her for keeping me in the loop, even further expressing my gratitude for keeping in touch with me and making me feel respected and valued. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday -- absolute radio silence from Chelsea L. Clennan. I sent a polite follow up email Friday afternoon-- again, I had been ghosted. Not a single reply or word from Chelsea or her team ever since -- despite her shtick of "you're a top candidate" and "we move quickly." I shudder to think how Stinson, LLP employees -- whether in Minneapolis or Kansas -- are treated if Chelsea treated a job applicant -- me -- with what I felt like was pure garbage and disrespect. Personally, I do not recommend Stinson as a place to work based on my experience as a job candidate and how I feel I was treated. When people like the human resources director show you their true colors-- believe them.

I walked in alone to a hearing riddled with anxiety and uncertainty, with no legal representation. Not knowing what was going to be my outcome, especially over a situation that should not have even been brought to a level where court would have been involved, I requested a court appointed attorney. I have never lucked out so much in my entire life than I did that day. Stinson Law firm just so happened to be providing pro bono work that morning and took my case. The two attorneys I worked with not only helped me feel validated in my disbelief that I was even there, but also were the most knowledgeable powerhouse of representation I could have ever asked for. If I were to sum it all up in 3 reasons why I would recommend them to anyone, it would be: Top notch negotiation skills, an unmatched knowledge of the law surrounding my scenario, and for being the most personable, down to earth people, to have the pleasure of working with.

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience. Unfortunately, communication with lawyer Rob Rooney has been consistently unreliable. Despite multiple attempts, my emails have been ignored, leaving me feeling frustrated and neglected. To make matters worse, I've discovered that I'm not the only client who has experienced this issue. It's concerning that a law firm would neglect their clients' concerns in such a way. Given my experience, I would advise others to exercise caution when considering this firm for their legal needs.

Wagner, Falconer and Judd, Ltd. helped me very much in my recent case of an unjust terminatinatiin with a company I had been with for almost 2 years. During that same period of time, I saw 7 different score managers come and go with only one if them having effective management skills because he had 21 years experience with the company and was a very effective manager. The large corporation I was a part of had been experiencing tgevresult if the high management turnover and had recently let 400 people go on division and corporate positions. When I was let go, I contacted Wagner, Falconer, and Judd through my Prepaid Legal Program and was put in touch with Lisa, an attorney who provided excellent guidance for what I needed to do to to deal with a trumped up charge of violating company driving rules that actually were false and attempted to decline my unemployment benefit for my post work done on the case where I had received the great work from Lisa ( and also Job Service in Sheboygan. Many thanks to Lisa and the guidance provided by Job Service on what I had to do to receive the compensation I was due. A special thanks to Atty Lisa for the guidance she provided for me to.win my compensation for unjust accusations that my former employer had generated. Many Many thanks and appreciation for her and the legal firms assistance that gave me the knowledge and courage I needed to win!! Thanks very much Lisa and W, F and Judd and Prepaid Legal.

Lori Peterson is an amazing attorney to have in your corner. She will get the job done for you. Lori fought hard for me and stood by my side through the ups and downs of both my case and my emotions. She truly cared about me and the outcome of my case. Lori will fight for justice. She is compassionate, determined, passionate, and strong. Thank you, Lori, for everything you have done for me, for helping me move into a new chapter of my life, and for giving me the closure I needed. Thank you.

Lori is hands down the best lawyer!!! When they say taking on a certain entity is a hard fight, that didn’t stop her for taking on our case. Lori is SO passionate, caring and empathetic for her clients, which is SO rare to find!!!! Lori puts in many hours and is so dedicated to her clients. We were so blessed to be able to have her represent us when we were in our darkest, most stressful days of our lives! I looked for a lawyer who cared about women's rights and I was so thankful to have been referred to her! (Lori is also an animal rights activist-she is saving animals and also fighting for human rights!!) Lori was always quick to respond and you can tell in her heart she genuinely cares about her clients. Lori represented our daughter, who dealt with a very traumatic event of her life and ours! Sexual discrimination/harassment and assault should never go on and it is 2024 and girls are still fighting for basic human rights! Lori is a powerful, majestic force and there is no one else like her!! She will always be our hero!! We are also so thankful to Lori, for suggesting martial arts to empower our daughter, because of Lori’s idea we got inspired to set up a self defense class to help empower our daughter and other kids. If you are looking for a lawyer who is compassionate, strategic, powerful, dynamic, is a fighter and has your best interest in heart .. you would be so lucky, honored and grateful to have her on your side!!! Thank you so much Lori for being there for us, for our daughter and for making an everlasting imprint and impact on our lives, we can’t thank you enough!!! You will always be our hero!!! We love Lori!!

Lori Peterson isn’t just the law dog, she is the Top Dog. Her compassion and dedication to her clients is immeasurable. She really takes the time to hear you and works tirelessly to fight for your rights and compensation. I could not recommend anyone more. When I first contacted Lori, it was just with a few legal questions. Not knowing if what I was dealing with had any legal merit. Lori contacted me right away, listened, and gave me great advice with nothing in return. When things escalated, she was my first call. Lori handled my case fiercely and I couldn’t be more grateful!

Would be 1 star but I’ve atleast been contacted after reaching out trying to figure out what is going on with my case which is absolutely nothing. Process started back in June. I reached out to see if it was possible to reopen my case from 4 years prior because I still have major lasting effects from my shoulder surgery. (Had a different attorney) Spoke with Daniel and he stated we could probably settle out the medical as I have out of pocket costs at minimum of biweekly chiropractic care just so I can function. After this I went through the process of getting my entire file from my previous attorney and hand delivered it to his office. After 2 months of not hearing anything I decided to reach out. First by email. No response. A couple weeks later by phone and I left a voicemail. Again never heard back. A week or so later I called again. This time leaving a message with a lady who answered. After this I got a call from Daniel about a week later. During this phone call he again stated that he thinks we could settle out the medical. He stated he was going to talk with his partner and figure out a game plan on how to proceed and that he would be in contact with me again in a week. I never heard back. Fast forward a month and a half I decided to reach out again. First by email. Again, no response. I let another week or so pass and decided to call. This time I was transferred directly to Daniel. During this call everything changed. Now it was he didn’t think they could settle the medical and he stated he’d give a call back within the week. This never happened. Now 2-3 weeks later here I am posting this review. This was never with intentions of a money grab. 100% I have major issues since having my shoulder surgery. I make more money however I have a $5000 deductible so I choose not to go to the doctor because I really can’t afford that. So instead I go to the chiropractor just so I can get by. Costs me only around $150 every month. I write this review not in spite nor in anger, but more so in annoyance because I feel as if Daniel made it seem like something could be done and just constantly left me wondering what was happening. So really just wasted a ton of my time just to be given false hope. Daniel should have from the beginning just told me that there was nothing that could be done. Had he done that I would have just let it be.

I would give Home Line all of the stars that are in the sky if I could! I can’t begin to express how much Gigi has helped me and how many times, all while never having any negativity or impatience with me. She’s so knowledgeable in so many aspects of renting, owning and you can tell she truly wants and loves to help people to the best of her ability! Gigi, I know I said I’d write a good review for you a long time ago and I’m sorry it took this long. You deserve to be recognized for what a wonderful human being you are! You’ve help so many people I can’t begin to imagine! I can’t remember which person I talked to said to thank you for him as well but I bet if anyone who knew you and I mentioned I was going to give you a good review, they all would ask to add their names to the lists of people who want to thank you from the bottoms of all of our hearts. Wishing you all of the best the world can give you! Sending you Love 💞 & Laughter 🤣 every single day! Ty 🦋 The world is better because you are in it!

I hired Steven Coon because I have been in a deportation situation since I was accused to brakes the OFP of the mother of my children. After four years of fight in court, Steven has been able to prove that I wasn’t an abusive person and that the mother of my kids didn’t need an OFP. Steven had always give me right recommendations and take the time for my case. He has been able to direct me to the right person that I need like anger manager and immigration attorney. I definitely recommend Steven Coon if you need any help and good advice from a criminal attorney. Good job and thank you Steven

Mr Coon was good enough for my situation. He counseled , predicted, and then executed. My case was pretty much straight forward. He gave me worst case scenarios, and what it would look like if everything just worked in my favor. Which ended up working all in my favor. The only thing that I can say that I didn’t like was the communication. I have yet to meet this bright lawyer in person, but he did what he said he was going to do and I appreciate him

Attorney Dawn Speltz and Paralegal Kayla Johnson were incredible throughout my divorce process. They were exceptionally responsive, often replying to my emails even at night, and provided clear guidance on every legal matter. Dawn helped me achieve 50/50 physical and legal custody of my children, something I didn’t realize was possible as a father. She found legal precedents that saved me money on asset division, enforced our prenup, and helped me retain most of my assets, including my house, which I was able to buy out thanks to her advice on assuming the mortgage. With her expertise, I avoided spousal support and calculated fair child support. The divorce was entirely negotiated and we didn't have to go to court. I couldn’t be more grateful for their dedication and professionalism. Highly recommend!

Please do not hire Ellen Schreder. I found her at anoka county law day. I was desperate and thought she would help me diligently. I was soo wrong to hire her and then to keep going thinking it would get better. I agree 💯 with the other reviews on her. She should stop practing law as she is a very incompetent and unprepared lawyer and will waste your money bickering and arguing with you more that the opposing party. I also been ridiculed and told it will just cost me more. And of course we all are trying to get help at the lowest cost. She hid information so I was in the unknown about what was sent or discussed with the other party and won't respond to opposing party like I asked. She does not voucher for her client and cant take good criticism as she stated in her email I was insulting her with good criticism and how she had stressed me even more with her degrading statements about losing money and what the opposing party will or will not. Instead of just simply arguing in her clients best interest and considering all factors that would be best for her client she pushes for just taking any offer given. Even after there is positive evaluation and I have soo many evidence to clear me. Mediation was horrible I felt like I was not heard at all and I got no consideration. Even after the fact that I recd the best evaluation. She does not care and will waste your money. Look at her face. It tells you everything about her person. I will gladly answer any question any person has that want to hire her. Do not let her waste your money. Do not let her waste you time. Do not let her stress you out more than the situation already has.

I wholeheartedly recommend Attorney David L. Ludescher of Grundhoefer & Ludescher P.A. to anyone seeking a compassionate, determined, and highly skilled advocate. David worked tirelessly on our case, standing up to a deeply flawed and corrupt state social service system. He fought against systemic injustices perpetuated by individuals with clear agendas—specifically targeting Black and immigrant families. David approached this fight with unwavering professionalism, resilience, and a deep sense of integrity. His commitment to justice and equality shone throughout the process. On numerous occasions, he even waived our fees, demonstrating his remarkable kindness and generosity. This is not just a job for him—it’s a mission to protect the less fortunate and challenge the racism ingrained in the state’s social service system. If you are looking for a lawyer who will genuinely care about your case and fight for your rights, I cannot recommend David highly enough. He is a true champion for justice, a defender of the marginalized, and a relentless fighter for what is right. Anyone in need of legal assistance would be fortunate to have him in their corner. Thank you, David, for everything you have done for us and for the greater good.

What a Consumer Protection Lawyer Can Do for You

A consumer protection lawyer specializes in safeguarding individuals from unfair, deceptive, or fraudulent business practices. These lawyers advocate for the rights of consumers in disputes with businesses, helping clients recover damages related to fraud, defective products, false advertising, or violation of consumer protection laws. They work to enforce laws that prevent businesses from taking advantage of consumers and ensure that businesses adhere to fair practices.

Whether you’ve been the victim of a scam, sold a faulty product, or misled by false advertising, a consumer protection lawyer can help you navigate legal options and pursue justice.

When Should I Hire a Consumer Protection Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a consumer protection lawyer when you’ve encountered unfair or illegal business practices and need legal assistance to resolve the situation. Common scenarios include:

  • Fraud or deceptive business practices: If a company misled you into purchasing a product or service under false pretenses, a lawyer can help you seek compensation.
  • Defective products: If you purchased a product that was unsafe or defective and caused harm, a lawyer can help you file a product liability claim.
  • False advertising or unfair pricing: A lawyer can assist if you were misled by deceptive advertising or charged for services or products in a way that violates consumer laws.
  • Debt collection harassment: If you're being harassed by debt collectors or are facing illegal debt collection practices, a consumer protection lawyer can enforce your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
  • Credit report issues: If errors on your credit report are affecting your financial standing, a lawyer can help you resolve disputes with credit reporting agencies or creditors under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
  • Predatory lending practices: If you've been subjected to unfair loan terms or practices by payday lenders or mortgage companies, a lawyer can help you challenge the loan and seek a resolution.
  • Data breaches or identity theft: If your personal information was compromised due to a company’s failure to protect your data, a lawyer can help you recover damages related to the breach.

What Does a Consumer Protection Lawyer Do?

A consumer protection lawyer provides a wide range of services to help protect consumers' rights and seek compensation for harms caused by businesses. Their role may include:

  • Filing lawsuits: Representing clients in lawsuits against businesses that have violated consumer protection laws, whether through fraud, deceptive practices, or negligence.
  • Negotiating settlements: Working with businesses or their insurers to negotiate fair compensation for damages caused by unfair practices or defective products.
  • Pursuing class action lawsuits: When a company harms multiple consumers, a lawyer can represent a group of plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit, seeking collective damages.
  • Advising on consumer rights: Helping clients understand their rights under various consumer protection laws and advising on the best course of action.
  • Handling product liability claims: Representing clients who have been injured by defective products and holding manufacturers or retailers accountable for the harm caused.
  • Defending against debt collection harassment: Enforcing the rights of consumers under the FDCPA and other laws that protect individuals from abusive or unlawful debt collection tactics.
  • Resolving credit report disputes: Helping clients correct errors on their credit reports that may be causing financial harm or affecting their creditworthiness.

How Are Consumer Protection Lawyers Paid?

Consumer protection lawyers typically use different fee structures depending on the complexity of the case and the type of legal work required. Common payment methods include:

  • Contingency fee: For many consumer protection cases, such as class actions or product liability claims, lawyers may work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if they win or settle the case, taking a percentage (typically between 25% and 40%) of the awarded amount.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex cases or ongoing legal disputes, some lawyers charge by the hour. Hourly rates can range from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For specific services, such as reviewing a contract or filing a small claim, a lawyer may charge a flat fee that covers all the necessary legal work.
  • Retainer fee: For clients needing ongoing legal assistance, some lawyers may charge a retainer fee, which is an upfront payment that is billed against as the lawyer works on the case.

It’s important to discuss fees upfront with your lawyer to understand how you’ll be charged and to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does a Consumer Protection Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a consumer protection lawyer depends on the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the type of legal service required. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fee cases: For cases handled on a contingency basis, the lawyer typically takes between 25% and 40% of any settlement or damages awarded.
  • Hourly rates: Hourly rates for consumer protection lawyers generally range from $150 to $500, with higher rates for more experienced attorneys or cases involving complex legal issues.
  • Flat fees: For specific services like contract reviews or handling a small claims case, flat fees may range from $500 to $2,000, depending on the scope of work.
  • Class actions: In class action cases, fees are often paid out of the settlement or damages awarded, and individual plaintiffs usually do not have to pay upfront.

Make sure to ask for a clear estimate of costs during your initial consultation to avoid surprises and to understand how much you can expect to pay.

Top Questions to Ask a Consumer Protection Lawyer

Before hiring a consumer protection lawyer, it’s important to ask questions to ensure they have the experience and skills to handle your case effectively. Key questions include:

  1. What experience do you have with consumer protection law?
Ensure the lawyer has specific experience handling cases like yours, whether it involves product liability, fraud, or debt collection issues.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, a flat fee, or a contingency fee, and ask for an estimate of the total cost of your case.
  3. What is the likelihood of success for my case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of your case and what outcome you can reasonably expect.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Make sure the lawyer has experience dealing with similar legal issues, whether it’s credit report disputes, data breaches, or defective products.
  5. What is the timeline for resolving my case?
While it can be difficult to predict exact timelines, the lawyer should give you a general idea of how long your case may take to resolve.
  6. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case, so it’s important to know who will be working on your claim.

How to Check the Credibility of a Consumer Protection Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable consumer protection lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Check for experience in consumer protection: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to confirm they specialize in consumer protection law and have handled cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their ability to handle consumer protection cases.
  • Look for industry affiliations: Membership in organizations like the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) can indicate that the lawyer is committed to protecting consumer rights.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a consumer protection lawyer, come prepared with all relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Details of the product or service in question: Bring any purchase receipts, warranties, or contracts related to the product or service involved in your claim.
  • Documentation of your complaint: Provide evidence of your complaint, such as email exchanges with the company, photos of a defective product, or a timeline of events related to the dispute.
  • Communication with the business or debt collector: If you’ve communicated with the business or debt collector, bring copies of letters, emails, or phone logs.
  • List of questions: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes for your case.
  • Information on damages: Be prepared to discuss any financial losses or harm you’ve suffered as a result of the unfair business practices, including medical bills, lost wages, or emotional distress.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer understand your situation more effectively and get the best possible legal advice on how to proceed with your case.
