Mr. Towers represented me recently on multiple issues with major cost and repercussions from the state. He handled it swiftly keeping me updated every step of the way. Mr. Towers and his paralegal Amanda went over and above my expectations. I need to emphasize how fantastic Amanda was. She was incredibly knowledgeable and professional. If there is ever a need for a testimonial look no further, you would be putting yourself in great hands.

I hired this guy to defend me in a contempt case on a restraining order violation and for the actual final restraining order case. All he ever wanted to do was accept what was offered. I wanted to defend my clean record to the end and he wasn't interested. I moved on to another lawyer and ahe got all the charges dismissed and the arreat expunged. Cheaper isn't always better. Getting what you pay for is usually right.

Mr Micklin was thorough, knowledgeable and helped my family through a very difficult time. He made himself available and somehow made me feel like I was his only client when he runs a very busy practice. He was the voice of reason for me when I wasn't able to for myself. I am grateful that all he did for me.

I went to Dragon and Dragon law office for my divorce. Robyn took care of my case, she was the best. She calmed me down and I thought things might be going south. My ex-husband wasn't responding to any emails or calls from Robyn but showed up on the final court date. She make sure that we were separated from each other as we waited to be called. With elegance and grace she struck a deal last minute between the both of us in separate rooms. She calmed me down during and after the proceedings. She wouldn't let me even ride on the same elevator and waited with me to go down the elevator. I wouldn't choose any other family law attorney. Go there she will explain everything and answer all your questions.

READ THIS REVIEW. MONEY GRAB NEVER RECEIVED ANY PAPERWORK/COPIES NEVER HAD MY CALLS RETURNED THEY SPOKE SO FAST AND CUT ME OFF MID SENTENCE SHODDY OFFICE So, here's the story. I Went to this office in November 2020. In the height of Covid they seemed to have no problem putting their hands on cash. I gave Jeff $225 dollars for initial consultation. Afterwards he told me it would be another $1000 to take the case. By January I managed to pull together the money. After his sticky fingers counted that and put it away he brought out the documents for me to sign stating that I'd owe another $2000 once all was said and done. I told him I didnt have that kind of money and he said I can make installments and he was willing to work with me. Reluctantly, I signed it. A week or so later he calls and says there is a $400 court fee before they can move forward. That being all I had I paid it favoring the long run of my case financially. Some time later I'm given paperwork to fill out pertaining to my expenses and am rudely reminded that I still owe them $2000. That being stated, I told him once again that I dont have that kind of money and after seeing my expenses it should have proven so. Keep in mind, after filling said paperwork out no one offered to make a copy or even make copies of my pay stubs, divorce decree etc...etc... thereby giving me back my ORIGINAL paperwork. I had to visit my mother in March as she was dying so everything was put on hold. Upon returning I had begun to speak with Robyn (barely being able to finish a sentence let alone understand what she was saying since they all speak ridiculously fast). The first week or so of April was a bit of phone tag. Once finally getting a hold of Robyn she told me I had a bit more to sign and then they'll move forward. After more phone tag I finally just showed up at the office in the hope of simply signing what I needed to. I was met with "you can't just show up. I'll call you on Monday and we can plan accordingly." Monday comes, more phone tag. I call continuously for two weeks. "She's in a meeting, I can take a message." Or, I would get her on the phone but she was conveniently in the middle of something and she'll call me back. Bear in mind that I'm doing all of this on my breaks at work. Two to three times a day. In May I finally stopped kicking the horse and sent them this email in June: (I am sending you this email in regards to $225 for R&R, $1000 in attorney fees and $400 in court costs which were handed to you in cash on 11/17/2020 1/12/2021 1/26/2021. I am requesting a refund of $1400 due to the fact that no progress has been made on this case. I have not received copies of any paperwork that I've signed and/or handed over. I have made numerous attempts at speaking with my lawyer, Robyn Dragon, only to be met with dismissal and no returned calls. I have put aside these funds specifically for this case in order to have my child support reduced. I feel as though this matter has been tossed to the side and every pay period I am hemorrhaging money. I can no longer afford to have my situation placed on the back burner due to negligence which seems to be brought about by a money grab (as stated by previous clients in reviews about this entity). Currently I am in dire need of these funds as I have fallen behind in my bills. I'd like to think that you would want to preserve whatever integrity your firm has left before I decide to send a copy of this email to the better business bureau and place it under any reviews that can be found online. I would appreciate my money returned in a more timely manner than your phone calls. Please send cash or check to: Thank you for your time, rather, your lack thereof.) It is now August 2021 and I have not had any kind of response whatsoever. Nine months and $1625 of money I dont have is gone. Prior to this I had little to no experience with lawyers. Now though, I ge

My husband and I needed an attorney after a tree fell on our house during a storm. We were going to go to the lawyer we used for a accident he had last year, but decided to use Jeff instead - a very good decision on our part after all. Jeff took our call late in the evening and scheduled an appointment for us the next morning. (We thought we would have to wait days, if not weeks.) When we arrived at his office, we were greeted and made to feel comfortable and welcome. (A very different feel from what our last attorney made us feel like!) When Jeff saw us, we explained that the tree that feel on our sons bedroom was a point of contention for us with our next door neighbor for many years. And we knew that this may happen at some point. Well, when the tree fell (Thankfully, our son was not in his room at the time.) the tree destroyed his room, our den, and the laundry room. Our insurance company would not pay for the entirety of the repairs - saying that ti was the neighbor's responsibility - and we needed someone to help us in the legal process of fighting to get our house back in the shape it was before this uninvited guest arrived. Between both insurance company's, the neighbor, and our son having to stay in a spare bedroom, we were at the end of our rope. Jeff was able to get all the issues fixed for us - quite quickly, which surprised all of us, especially my husband. His office was able to get the insurance company's to step up and get the repairs done, and the house back to what it used to be - to our liking as well! If I ever need an attorney again, I am going to make sure to go back to Jeff. I am astounded and amazed at how well everything was handled.

Mr. Buividas was the best find we ever made. Our insurance company denied us and we thought that was it and we were going to have to use our retirement monies to fix our property damage. A friend referred Mr. Buividas and his Law Group which he used his knowledge and skills to turn the denial into the money needed to make the repairs and saved us our retirement hard on monies. We recommend him to everyone.

What a Criminal Defense Lawyer Can Do for You

A criminal defense lawyer provides legal representation to individuals or organizations accused of criminal conduct. If you're facing criminal charges, a defense lawyer will work to protect your rights, build a defense strategy, and ensure you receive a fair trial. Their primary goal is to reduce or dismiss charges, secure an acquittal, or negotiate a favorable plea deal.

Criminal defense lawyers have extensive knowledge of criminal law and court procedures. They investigate your case, identify weaknesses in the prosecution's evidence, and represent you in court, ensuring that you have the best possible defense.

When Should I Hire a Criminal Defense Lawyer?

It’s crucial to hire a criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible if you are facing any criminal charges. Some situations in which you should seek legal representation include:

  • Arrest or police questioning: If you've been arrested or are under investigation, hiring a lawyer early on can prevent self-incrimination and protect your rights during police questioning.
  • Felony charges: Crimes such as murder, assault, drug trafficking, or robbery carry severe penalties, including long prison sentences. A defense lawyer is essential in these cases.
  • Misdemeanor charges: Even for less serious offenses like DUI, theft, or simple assault, a lawyer can help reduce penalties, negotiate alternatives to jail, or get charges dismissed.
  • Plea negotiations: If you’re considering a plea bargain, a lawyer can evaluate the deal, advise you on its consequences, and negotiate for more favorable terms.
  • Probation or parole violations: If you’ve been accused of violating probation or parole, a lawyer can defend you against additional penalties or revocation.
  • Juvenile offenses: For minors charged with criminal acts, a criminal defense lawyer can protect their future by minimizing legal repercussions or keeping the case in juvenile court.

What Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Do?

Criminal defense lawyers provide comprehensive legal services to protect their clients’ rights throughout the criminal justice process. Their duties include:

  • Case evaluation and investigation: Reviewing the evidence, interviewing witnesses, and investigating the facts to develop a strong defense strategy.
  • Legal advice: Advising you on your rights, the charges you’re facing, and potential defense strategies, including whether to take a plea deal or go to trial.
  • Negotiating plea bargains: Working with prosecutors to negotiate a plea deal that could reduce charges or minimize penalties.
  • Court representation: Representing you in all court hearings, including bail hearings, pretrial motions, trials, and sentencing hearings.
  • Filing motions: Filing motions to dismiss charges, suppress evidence, or reduce bail, depending on the specifics of your case.
  • Trial preparation and defense: Preparing a defense strategy and presenting arguments, evidence, and witnesses during trial to contest the prosecution's case.
  • Appeals: If you are convicted, a defense lawyer can appeal the conviction or sentence, arguing errors in the trial process or legal rulings.

How Are Criminal Defense Lawyers Paid?

Criminal defense lawyers generally charge clients in one of three ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: For straightforward cases (e.g., minor misdemeanors), some lawyers charge a one-time flat fee that covers all aspects of the defense.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing cases, lawyers may charge by the hour, with rates varying based on the lawyer’s experience and geographic location.
  • Retainer fee: In cases where extensive work is expected, the client may pay a retainer fee upfront. The lawyer then bills against that retainer for their work on the case.

The cost of criminal defense services can vary greatly, so it’s important to discuss fees during your initial consultation.

How Much Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a criminal defense lawyer depends on several factors, including the severity of the charges, the complexity of the case, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost guidelines are:

  • Misdemeanor cases: For relatively minor offenses, such as a DUI or petty theft, a flat fee may range from $1,500 to $5,000.
  • Felony cases: More serious charges, such as assault or drug trafficking, can range from $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the complexity and duration of the case.
  • Hourly rates: For cases billed by the hour, lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on their expertise and the case's location.
  • Additional expenses: You may also be responsible for other costs, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, or the cost of private investigators.

Be sure to clarify the lawyer’s fee structure and any potential additional costs during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Criminal Defense Lawyer

Before hiring a criminal defense lawyer, you’ll want to ensure that they’re a good fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has a strong track record with the specific type of criminal charges you’re facing, whether it’s DUI, drug offenses, or violent crimes.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services and whether you’ll be responsible for any additional costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
A good lawyer should provide an honest assessment of your case and the likelihood of dismissal, a plea bargain, or conviction.
  4. How many cases have you taken to trial?
While many criminal cases settle with a plea deal, it’s important to hire a lawyer with courtroom experience in case your case goes to trial.
  5. Who will handle my case?
Ask if the lawyer will be personally involved or if other attorneys in the firm will handle most of the work.
  6. How do you communicate with your clients?
Be clear on how often and through what channels you can expect updates on your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Criminal Defense Lawyer

To verify the credibility of a criminal defense lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their standing with the state bar: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any past disciplinary actions or complaints.
  • Read online reviews and testimonials: Platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google can provide insights from previous clients about the lawyer’s communication, professionalism, and case outcomes.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should have past clients or other professionals who can speak to their competence and work ethic.
  • Review their case history: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to see their experience with criminal cases, including high-profile or complex cases.
  • Look for trial experience: If your case might go to trial, make sure the lawyer has a strong history of courtroom advocacy and success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your first consultation with a criminal defense lawyer, bring the following:

  • Details of your case: Be prepared to provide a detailed account of the charges against you, including any documents related to your arrest, police reports, and court dates.
  • Criminal history: If you have any prior criminal convictions, inform your lawyer so they can understand how that may affect your current case.
  • List of witnesses or evidence: If there are any potential witnesses or evidence that may support your defense, share this information during the consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare questions about their experience, legal strategy, and fees to ensure you understand how they will handle your case.
  • Bail or release documents: If you’ve been released on bail, bring any paperwork related to your release conditions or restrictions.

By being well-prepared, you can help your lawyer quickly assess your situation and begin building an effective defense strategy.
