The team at Richard trial attorney are amazing. I received a ticket during the heights of COVID back in 2020 and hired this firm. They worked thru multiple court delays for close to 4 years and finally got my ticket dismissed today. 10/10 highly recommended.

Unfortunately, I have to click on at least one star to be able to post this, and even that is more than undeserved. In short - move on, look elsewhere. These human beings will destroy you mentally and emotionally. There are truly genuine attorneys out there and this law firm IS NOT ONE OF THEM.....Vickers Cunningham thought it was wise to show up to our family member's first hearing having not reviewed the entire case information, having not taking the time to have a conversation with her to get to know her and what he was representing, and filing for a form of relief that he knew (or should of known "being a judge") that she did not qualify for. He waisted precious time and never truly fought for us. Initially, all legal advice was communicated to us through his paralegal, Rose Flores, who never shied away from being unprofessional, unkind, rude, and heartless. We were desperate. Prior to meeting with these people, we had read reviews on them regarding racial controversies and unprofessionalism and we were so vulnerable that we decided to give them the benefit of the doubt - all because Rose said what we wanted to hear, not knowing we were really signing for what would come next - disheartening emotional and mental stress coming from unprofessionalism, being spoken to like we were uneducated, meaningless human beings, being unable to get questions truly and genuinely answered with patience, and being ultimately betrayed. We only thought we knew what the true meaning of an emotional roller coaster was until we dealt with these people, then we really knew. Rose played out every scenario and nothing she said was. She spoke as she knew the ins and outs. The truth is - they never had the knowledge enough to deal with our case. Our family member's case was a very tough one - that we knew. But had they just had the professionalism, the humanity, and the kind hearts to say "this is beyond our expertise", we would have respected them and had searched elsewhere. Many other attorneys told me it was a case they knew they could not deal with. Rose said - "we do this everyday". And then they went into the hearing clueless, unprepared, and applying for a relief she never was going to qualify for - so did they truly do it every day?...I would never wish bad upon these people despite all the hurt they caused our family and all they ripped away from us financially, mentally and emotionally, but I hope that they learn from their mistakes and strive to become better human beings....God wasn't going to let what they put us through be the end of our story - our attorney to follow stepped right in, being God sent. She was extremely knowledgeable, caring, passionate, genuine with a true fighting spirit. Mr Vickers ended his last conversation with my family member in saying there was nothing he could do for her, she would have to hope that she was granted a voluntary departure and when she asked him if "this meant she could never return to her children again", he responded with "If Joe Biden wins...". They had our case for 6 weeks and accomplished nothing but heartaches. Our attorney now had the case 6 weeks and fought and won in 2 different county courts for us, a criminal and an immigration case. Today - we have our family member home and in an even better legal position than she ever was. All this to say - Vickers and Rose destroyed our trust in attorneys, but God sent the right person to fight for us, to win, and to restore our hope and trust. If you do hire these people and they destroy you (I hope it's not the case), don't give up!! Someone out there can and will fight for you!!

Worst experience in my life!! I recently had an extremely unsatisfactory experience with Bergquist Law Firm. After hiring them to handle a legal matter, I found their communication to be lacking and their representation to be subpar. The lawyers seemed disorganized and unprepared, and I felt like my case was not given the attention it deserved. Furthermore, I encountered billing issues and unexpected fees that were not transparently communicated to me. This lack of transparency and professionalism left me feeling frustrated and let down. I would caution anyone considering hiring Bergquist Law Firm to thoroughly research their options and carefully consider whether this firm is the right fit for their legal needs. My experience with them was disappointing and left me questioning the integrity and competence of their legal services. I hope sharing my experience will help others make informed decisions when seeking legal representation. It's crucial to choose a law firm that values professionalism, clear communication, and client satisfaction, and unfortunately, my experience with Bergquist Law Firm fell short in these areas." Please feel free to modify this draft to accurately reflect your own experience and feelings. It can be empowering to use your voice to share your story and potentially prevent others from encountering similar challenges.

This is hands down the best legal representation I trust for myself or my family. Over 10 years ago I got into trouble and Mr. Clancy went above and beyond to help me with amazing representation. So much so afterwards I was able to pivot and I went on to earn a Bachelor's and working towards my Masters Degree and none of this would be possible if I didn't have the proper representation. It's hard to find a lawyer who would work hard for you, and thankfully I was able to obtain representation from Daniel Clancy and I changed my life afterwards. I graduated with Honors from college and I can't thank him enough. I trust Daniel Clancy with my family and friends who need legal representation and I believe he is one of the best to do it. Thank you so much Daniel Clancy for helping me. If you need someone who can actually get the job done, Danny is the best place to start if you're in Texas.

Tim Clancy is, hands down, the best lawyer! I was charged with a DWI and was referred to Tim. I was scared, nervous, and so clueless as to how my life was going to be and how the court process worked. After having my consultation, I immediately felt better and had hope that things would be ok. Tim explained the process and advised me to get started on some of the things the court requires. The outcome of my case was better than I could have ever expected! He is knowledgeable, kind, patient, reponds in a timely manner, and wants the best outcome for any client. I am beyond grateful for having Tim in my corner and highly recommend him!

This firm sure knows their laws/rules, and I highly recommend them for help (in my case on employment law). While they are in TX they do know laws outside the state, which was perfect for me as I don't reside in the same state that my corporation does. Katie was patient and explained complex documents in layman's terms so I could understand what I was reading in my corporate documents. She also had insightful recommendations for things I should or should not do, which I am very thankful for. I really couldn't have asked for a better experience. This is a top notch, professional Law Firm and I will return (hopefully not too soon) with my future law needs.

I hired Michael to handle a false domestic violence case. My wife had a nervous breakdown one day and I ended up calling 911 to counsel her. ( big mistake ). In return, I got arrested for a domestic violence case. I knew, that police didn't have any evidence against me but I really wanted to be sure of the outcome. I immediately contacted Michael and hired him in my case. Fast forward few months later, DA office rejected my case and informed us not to file it. I am sure Michael had done his work behind the desk to get this favorable outcome. he was very responsive to any text/call we had for him. I would definitely recommend Michael for and DV related case as he is very experienced and knowledgable with the process. I wish him all the best.

My case was particularly screwy and I was in a bind that needed fixing. Even though I was innocent, I needed someone smart to help me get out of the mess. I thought I could fight it alone since I was innocent but that's not how the system works. Michael was able to CALM me, educate me on the process, and come up with better solutions that ended up freeing me from my trouble. He was smart and consistent and I would for sure hire him or tell my friends to!

I hired Micheal Lowe like 3years ago but I never got around to the review site until now. But I NEED to make this statement. This man not only helped me fast and easy but he saved my life. I would have lost custody of my child if it wasn’t for mr Lowe. I was facing out of state serious charges and a lot of jail time. Which mr Lowe got my cases dismissed, no jail time. No nothing. I dropped to my knees and cried in thankfulness for me finding mr Lowe. I am home with my child and free from those horrible charges in the thanks of micheal Lowe. WORTH EVERY DIME. whatever he charges. Just do it! I’m telling u it’s a savior . -Haley

I hired Roger Lenox’s a couple of times many, many moons ago. After consulting with several of Dallas Top Attorney’s None could compare. He was my choice and for several reasons; Maybe it was the natural humbling spirit I got upon sitting in his office, or the pure honest knowledge/advice he gives. Roger worked diligently to assist me rather it was financially or spiritually. I was never surprised about the outcome of my case. Yes, he was my attorney but more like my friend. I’ve recommended him to several people and we all have the same story about his quality of work. It’s been numerous years and I still call him with any concerns and He’s still the same caring guy he was 20 years ago. #BESTATTORNEYIKNOW

He was patient in helping me understand the more complex terms regarding the case. He dedicated a lot of time to helping me resolve this issue, as my case took 4 years to be completely resolved due to several instances of complications. I am very grateful to him for the overall experience that he showed through his actions and preparation.

Not only was Terrance understanding about my case and what I was going through, he also showed empathy which made the process that much more bearable . He helped me understand exactly what was going on as my case was progressing. He pushed for the best outcome and informed me thoroughly about my options. He also spoke his truth as to what he thought what would be the best option for me. Ash got a 15 year sentence offer of mine that the state would not budge on turned into a two year sentence.Astonishing considering I was offered 7.5 years to co operate against my co defendants. I have since reformed my life but I told Ash with all do respect I won’t snitch. He said ok,our visit ended.About 6 months into my Dallas County stay my dad came to visit me with tears in his eyes and said that Ash had gotten me a “2” 2 year sentence to TDC non agg.We we’re both floored and astonished. I was hoping to end up getting a 5 year sentence after sitting in Dallas county for a year. But Ash got me a 2,it still amazes me to this day and on top of that the price of his representation as low as you can get for free world representation on a dope case.Ash,I am 4ever grateful for u caring about my case. Don’t ever change, you saved my life. The End.Thats my testimony.GO ASH!!

A family member got in some trouble with the law "mixed up with the wrong crowd" and I'm the only one he had. We hired one of about 50 attorney’s that sent flyers and letters after my nephew's arrest. After the first court date he was offered probation, No other option. With my nephew being on the deans list at a local college pursuing a career in information technology security we could not accept. The attorney insisted my nephew would end up in jail if we didn’t take the offer.. I was about to accept the fact that my nephew’s life could take a turn for the worst and reached out to friends and family for second options. My uncle had a DWI case that got dismissed using Mr, Mehryari and highly recommended him. The next day we made contact with Mr, Mehryari “On Sunday morning” via his cell phone and gave us a free consultation and general advice. 2 months later we are in court again and Mr, Mehryari pulls us to a small room to discuss the case details, after talking on and off for an hour with our attorney going back and forth he was able to get my nephew differed adjudication meaning once he completed 6 month’s probation due to video evidence it would be completely off his record. He has completed everything and has a spotless record.. We are forever grateful to Mr, Mehryari and his staff..

This was my first offense and they really tried to throw the book at me, I was very lost when it came to the criminal system and understanding it, I was dealing with a felony case, and Cynthia with her brilliant mind and communication skills was able to get it expunged! I was able to make payments through a payment plan after I put the deposit down, and that really helped! Her communication skills are great I felt really comfortable and safe trusting Cynthia. because that’s literally what your doing, putting your fate and your life in the hands of somebody else and I wouldn’t hesitate to call her again if I needed to! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a Criminal Defense Lawyer Can Do for You

A criminal defense lawyer provides legal representation to individuals or organizations accused of criminal conduct. If you're facing criminal charges, a defense lawyer will work to protect your rights, build a defense strategy, and ensure you receive a fair trial. Their primary goal is to reduce or dismiss charges, secure an acquittal, or negotiate a favorable plea deal.

Criminal defense lawyers have extensive knowledge of criminal law and court procedures. They investigate your case, identify weaknesses in the prosecution's evidence, and represent you in court, ensuring that you have the best possible defense.

When Should I Hire a Criminal Defense Lawyer?

It’s crucial to hire a criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible if you are facing any criminal charges. Some situations in which you should seek legal representation include:

  • Arrest or police questioning: If you've been arrested or are under investigation, hiring a lawyer early on can prevent self-incrimination and protect your rights during police questioning.
  • Felony charges: Crimes such as murder, assault, drug trafficking, or robbery carry severe penalties, including long prison sentences. A defense lawyer is essential in these cases.
  • Misdemeanor charges: Even for less serious offenses like DUI, theft, or simple assault, a lawyer can help reduce penalties, negotiate alternatives to jail, or get charges dismissed.
  • Plea negotiations: If you’re considering a plea bargain, a lawyer can evaluate the deal, advise you on its consequences, and negotiate for more favorable terms.
  • Probation or parole violations: If you’ve been accused of violating probation or parole, a lawyer can defend you against additional penalties or revocation.
  • Juvenile offenses: For minors charged with criminal acts, a criminal defense lawyer can protect their future by minimizing legal repercussions or keeping the case in juvenile court.

What Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Do?

Criminal defense lawyers provide comprehensive legal services to protect their clients’ rights throughout the criminal justice process. Their duties include:

  • Case evaluation and investigation: Reviewing the evidence, interviewing witnesses, and investigating the facts to develop a strong defense strategy.
  • Legal advice: Advising you on your rights, the charges you’re facing, and potential defense strategies, including whether to take a plea deal or go to trial.
  • Negotiating plea bargains: Working with prosecutors to negotiate a plea deal that could reduce charges or minimize penalties.
  • Court representation: Representing you in all court hearings, including bail hearings, pretrial motions, trials, and sentencing hearings.
  • Filing motions: Filing motions to dismiss charges, suppress evidence, or reduce bail, depending on the specifics of your case.
  • Trial preparation and defense: Preparing a defense strategy and presenting arguments, evidence, and witnesses during trial to contest the prosecution's case.
  • Appeals: If you are convicted, a defense lawyer can appeal the conviction or sentence, arguing errors in the trial process or legal rulings.

How Are Criminal Defense Lawyers Paid?

Criminal defense lawyers generally charge clients in one of three ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: For straightforward cases (e.g., minor misdemeanors), some lawyers charge a one-time flat fee that covers all aspects of the defense.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing cases, lawyers may charge by the hour, with rates varying based on the lawyer’s experience and geographic location.
  • Retainer fee: In cases where extensive work is expected, the client may pay a retainer fee upfront. The lawyer then bills against that retainer for their work on the case.

The cost of criminal defense services can vary greatly, so it’s important to discuss fees during your initial consultation.

How Much Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a criminal defense lawyer depends on several factors, including the severity of the charges, the complexity of the case, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost guidelines are:

  • Misdemeanor cases: For relatively minor offenses, such as a DUI or petty theft, a flat fee may range from $1,500 to $5,000.
  • Felony cases: More serious charges, such as assault or drug trafficking, can range from $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the complexity and duration of the case.
  • Hourly rates: For cases billed by the hour, lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on their expertise and the case's location.
  • Additional expenses: You may also be responsible for other costs, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, or the cost of private investigators.

Be sure to clarify the lawyer’s fee structure and any potential additional costs during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Criminal Defense Lawyer

Before hiring a criminal defense lawyer, you’ll want to ensure that they’re a good fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has a strong track record with the specific type of criminal charges you’re facing, whether it’s DUI, drug offenses, or violent crimes.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services and whether you’ll be responsible for any additional costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
A good lawyer should provide an honest assessment of your case and the likelihood of dismissal, a plea bargain, or conviction.
  4. How many cases have you taken to trial?
While many criminal cases settle with a plea deal, it’s important to hire a lawyer with courtroom experience in case your case goes to trial.
  5. Who will handle my case?
Ask if the lawyer will be personally involved or if other attorneys in the firm will handle most of the work.
  6. How do you communicate with your clients?
Be clear on how often and through what channels you can expect updates on your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Criminal Defense Lawyer

To verify the credibility of a criminal defense lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their standing with the state bar: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any past disciplinary actions or complaints.
  • Read online reviews and testimonials: Platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google can provide insights from previous clients about the lawyer’s communication, professionalism, and case outcomes.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should have past clients or other professionals who can speak to their competence and work ethic.
  • Review their case history: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to see their experience with criminal cases, including high-profile or complex cases.
  • Look for trial experience: If your case might go to trial, make sure the lawyer has a strong history of courtroom advocacy and success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your first consultation with a criminal defense lawyer, bring the following:

  • Details of your case: Be prepared to provide a detailed account of the charges against you, including any documents related to your arrest, police reports, and court dates.
  • Criminal history: If you have any prior criminal convictions, inform your lawyer so they can understand how that may affect your current case.
  • List of witnesses or evidence: If there are any potential witnesses or evidence that may support your defense, share this information during the consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare questions about their experience, legal strategy, and fees to ensure you understand how they will handle your case.
  • Bail or release documents: If you’ve been released on bail, bring any paperwork related to your release conditions or restrictions.

By being well-prepared, you can help your lawyer quickly assess your situation and begin building an effective defense strategy.
