I had a great experience with Barbara Cowen during a dark time in my life. Divorce for a man is a scary time, but Mrs Cowen made me feel very comfortable and confident throughout the process. She has so much experience and compassion in dealing with the divorce process. Mrs Cowen truly wanted was best for my daughter. I was involved in an accident on November 9, 2024 in Paterson, NJ. My car was parked and friend in the back opened the rear driver side door. A Tesla unfortunately hit part of my door. The Tesla owner and I, exchanged information, took photographs and decided not to call the police since the damages were not warranted. The day before Thanksgiving I was received a letter from Paterson Municipal Courts that I evaded the police following the accident aka a hit and run. That was not the case at all. So I called the Torrey Law Firm for a consultation. Within two hours I received a call from Louis Keleher and immediately I knew he would help me out. He explain the process on how my case will go. Looked into my clean driving record and requested photographs proving I did not leave the scene of the accident. He was able to get my original charge that involved a 6 month suspension to a minor fine with no points!! Louis helped relieved any stress I was dealing with for the final two months of 2024. I cannot thank him enough. If you are involved in any traffic related cases. The Tormey Law Firm is the place to GO!

I am incredibly thankful for Travis and Alyssa at The Tormey Law Firm. They were able to turn a nightmare of a situation into complete and utter relief. My fiancé got arrested at EWR with a firearm in his carry-on that he completely forgot was in there. He ended up at Essex County for a week before he was released back home. The Friday morning after his arrest, and while still in custody, I decided we needed to find a lawyer and quickly. Immediately The Tormey Law Firm popped up. I was hesitant at first but within one minute of submitting an inquiry, Travis himself called me to discuss. He took time out of his day, even at home with his children, to give me a call and let me know he could help. A few minutes later I heard from Alyssa and from then on I had some hope that things would get resolved.
Following his release we were waiting on his court date to find out next steps. To our surprise, Travis had spoken with the Prosecutor and we were now heading to a full dismissal of all of the charges. The RELIEF we felt. The initial situation happened in early August and by January we had the court date and all charges were dismissed and his record completely clean. For what we thought was going to be an uphill battle, Travis and his Law Firm truly went above and beyond to correct a mistake that should have never occurred in the first place. I couldn't recommend utilizing The Tormey Law Firm enough. They're professional, incredibly informative, and without a doubt know what they are doing. Do not hesitate to call them. I am now able to get married and know my fiancé can watch our daughter grow up.

Jason Foy is highly recommended by me to resolve any criminal case. (Especially if the truth of your case leans more on your rightfully being more innocent than guilty or it's just plain lies as you being criminally guilty). Foy has an extremely competent team of supportive people he works with in his office. Usually someone actually answers the phone when you call his office. When you leave a message it is always responded to in a timely fashion. He is not afraid to tell you no. If no is the true answer. He is clear about what he can do, what he can't do, and what could possibly occur without any promises regarding things outside of his control. I am a woman and he treated me with respect of human dignity at all times and he does not treat you bad- like you are an inmate or a criminal. My criminal case was a mess because a prior over paid criminal attorney who was a former DA assistant, had been trying to get me to admit guilt to a lessor crime charge I sincerely did not even remotely do. I was completely innocent- and the prosecutor even admitted that i was innocent but they did not care as long as " I was criminally charged with something" as "punishment so that I was "guilty". Jason Foy and his team actually competently did their jobs, looked up the laws regarding my case and applied it to my defense in my case. It was the truth. It was a long shot where maybe we would win or maybe we wouldn't. But we won BIG. I was very lucky that I had been given the resources to hire him and clean up the mess from the other paid but not respectful criminal attorney. Do not hire any former DA's or similar for your criminal case. Their brains are wired to charge you and make friends with the people prosecuting you. Jason Foy is not anyones "friend". He is not going to be figuring out your case with a beer at the bar with the prosecutor. He is a professional. A very highly intelligent- of the most intelligent criminal lawyers in NYC area, and extremely professional with how he conducts his business. He is the kind of man who does it right, does it all the way, or he does it not at all. You can trust what he says. And you can trust his judgement. If you are a woman, you can know that this a safe zone for you. Your husband does not need to be on the phone with you to get the same level of attention.

I was lucky enough to have Mr . Foy as my lawyer, this transpired due to the lack of communication I was able to establish with my first attorney. Looking back in my opinion, hiring
Mr. Foy was the most pivotal choice that I made throughout my entire defense process. I was charged with possession of ammunition in the southern district of New York which is the feds for those who don't know and ever since Mr. Foy was assigned my case the I could feel the landscape of my case sort of shift when you know you have somebody of that caliber and experience in their field going to bat for you. Mr. Foy made several attempts to get my case dismissed under grounds that probably would have gotten my case dismissed outright if it wasn't for the fact that my case was being tried in the SDNY . The reason it's important to state that is because Mr. Foy is an excellent lawyer and my case definitely had a good chance of being dismissed based on his defense that he presented during a suppression of evidence hearing in my case . Even though my case was not able to be dismissed, Mr. Foy was able to secure me the absolute best outcome aside from dismissal which was no prison, 6 months house arrest , and two years supervision. It's very important to state that this is not a sentence most lawyers are able to secure for their clients in federal court in any district let alone the southern district of New York. My case went on for four years and it was a very emotionally draining and stressful time period in my life. Now that I'm on house arrest with my family reflecting on how differently things could have been I had to take the time out to write this review because I honestly can't thank Mr. Foy enough for everything he has done in regards to his determination to provide me the absolute best defense he could , which I can definitely say resulted in as successful a defense as it could be given the circumstances of my charges and whom I was charged by . Thank you for everything Mr. Foy ! I can truly say I don't believe I would have recieved this outcome without you.

Everything was filed quickly but they said “the court doesn’t provide updates” many times when asked.
Almost a year into my process, my ex heard from a friend that their divorce was finalized in less than two months and then she tried calling the court to get information, she was then told our divorce was finalized 7 months prior.
I went to court and was able to get the final decree, but still haven’t been notified by my lawyers that I’m divorced…

Not going to lie, they are quick with starting the divorce process but it has been almost 8 months and my divorce still isn't finalized...and I was told my divorce should be finalized from 6-7 months, then they pushed it back and told me it is now 6-8months. What's next, a year? I ask for an update and I get told that they will get back to me and they never get back to me. These reviews did get my hopes up unfortunately. I just want this process over with already.

Jeffrey Anthony Skiendziul is an exceptional attorney who not only knows the law but also understands the human side of things. I found myself facing an out-of-the-blue TRO with someone I had known for over a decade, a situation that could have forever destroyed my financial future, taken away my work firearms (which had nothing to do with the case), and ruined my life. Despite being dismissed by the plaintiff twice in efforts to find peaceful grounds, Jeffrey’s skill in both building a strong defense for trial and using compassionate mediation to resolve issues was nothing short of remarkable. On the day of trial, he was able to intercept the plaintiff and, through a multi-hour negotiation, resolve everything without stepping foot in front of a judge. I would never recommend either Francesca or Carlye, as my experience with them was that of ineffectiveness, procrastination and extreme inefficiency resulting in high bills and no accomplishments on my behalf, accompanied by poor attitude. I contacted Francesca in late Sep 2023 to help me and my son gain control of my son’s college fund and get my ex to pay child support. Francesca was optimistic, stated that they will get to work on it “right away”, and suggested that she bring on Carlye as it would be “more efficient”. What I was not told is that I will be billed thousands of dollars for Francesca and Carlye talking to each other (conferences they called it, and that is very lucrative for the two of them, but definitely not efficient). I was also not told that it meant that Francesca will dump my case on an inexperienced junior attorney –something I would have never agreed to. Not knowing any better I took her advice. By the end of November, still with no court date or even a motion in sight, my ex hired a lawyer, who, according to Francesca, was going to give us a counter-offer. Francesca suggested we wait to see it, before going to court. I waited for somebody to reach out to me until mid-January, for nearly 2 months, when my ex sent my son’s tuition payment to himself instead of to college. When I texted her, Francesca finally called my ex’s lawyer and discovered that he fired her. I am not sure when Francesca or Carlye were planning to follow-up on the situation if I didn’t text them. At that point, Francesca reassured me that we will be doing to court “very soon” (previously suggesting that in such a situation we can have an emergency court hearing within days). However, neither she nor Carlye pursued an emergency hearing, and did nothing to remediate the situation, leaving myself and my son to fight my ex for the tuition money, but I was billed thousands of dollars for communicating with them about the situation. It took until March to get a motion produced, with the court date eventually scheduled for mid-April. At that point my ex lawyered up again, asking to postpone the court date so they can file counter-motion. While it only took his lawyer a total of only 11 days from when he was hired until he completed the motion and submitted it to court, my lawyers missed court communications, and with all the other delays on part of Francesca and Carlye we did not get to court until early June, more than 8 months from when I hired them, and at the cost of 4-5 times what my ex paid his lawyer to get to that point. Once we got to court, Carlye proved to be just as ineffective and inefficient in convincing the judge of anything of benefit to me. The summer was spent by her in an unbroken streak of failures to get any results on my behalf or to move the process toward resolution through multiple court appearances, while billing me thousands of dollars. I was left to fight with my ex by myself outside of court to try to get to any kind of an agreement about the college fund and child support, while continuing to pay legal fees for "representation" but no results. My ex and I finally came to an agreement, outside of court, with no input from my lawyers. The agreement was written up by my ex’s attorney, who was much more responsive and efficient through that process. I really should have fired Francesca and Carlye at that point and finalized it myself, but I thought that I may as well benefit from having access to legal representation. Another mistake. They dragged it out for another 2 months, with the final agreement being identical to the original + changes by my ex that he sent over the day after his lawyer circulated the agreement, but I was charged additional ~ 4500 for their “work”. They did nothing but dragged the process out for over a year, left me to fight with my ex by myself and “efficiently” billed me tens of thousands of dollars. When I brought my concerns to Francesca, she accused me of trying to shake her down and get out of paying my bills. So – definitely don’t recommend.

I was denied in my long term disability claim by an insurance company. I was recommended another law firm with who I was familiar with. This firm sucks. $15,000 retainer down the drain! If I could give it 0 stars I would but I had no choice but to choose a star. I was sued for something my attorney told me was petty and he got my case dismissed then I was hit with another lawsuit 8 months later from the same person and he lost my case! I’m so mad! Chris did a great job with my case. I had no prior record and he was able to help me through the PTI Process. The most impressive thing he was able to do was to reduce the amount of probation time that was originally offer, in addition to community service. He was able to review the facts of the case with the Prosecutor and due to the fact of my very low involvement, the Prosecutor agreed that what he had originally put on the table was a bit much. I had 3 other lawyers trying to drop some charges and avoid jail time. Which none of them could accomplish it seemed like they were all scared of the prosecutor.
