I was under investigation from CID for very serious allegations. I chose to retain Mrs. Batemam to clear my name, which turned out to be a very good decision. Mrs. Bateman reviewed my case and put together a great game plan to get me the best results. She was fair and honest about her expectations. It will be four weeks Monday since CB was arrested for failure to obey lawful order. Aug 31 was a scheduled hearing and the jail did not take him and according to his family his name was called and he nor lawyer there. Cecelia was rude when I called her akd said he has court Sept 28th. To this date thwre has been no first appearance, no contact with suspect, and no discovery or even an explanation of charhes in Pottawatomie Prairie band court. Cecelia has ignored her oath and rights due to inmate CB.

I've paid Mr. Poor over $1800 .
Gave him and his office a $800 retainer before I went into prison for absolutely ludicrous charges that he couldn't get me off of.
During the 19 mts. Of my incarceration, I tried to call him several times for help, his office, and his cell phone. Never an answer. I desperately needed my family's contact information. I was totally alone in that miserable place. Without anyone to speak to. I was stabbed three times and jumped several times. It was brutal. My representative was not totally to blame if I was not addicted to substance, I could have represented myself with no lawyer and beat the ridiculous charges that Newton Ks threw against the wall, instead of "hope", the indeed stuck..
Towards the end of my ridiculous sentences. I was finally able to get in contact with my beloved Sister in-law, I had her reach out to this office, and these unprofessional people told her that Mr. Scott Poor was a court appointed attorney for a or one case of mine in 2023!
I went into this office 200 w Douglas suite 600. Begging for help! I paid 1800 of my 💰 to get justice for the ridiculous charges that Harvey County has convicted me! He was "NEVER " appointed by the courts!
1800 is nothing to these guys, but I'm on total Disability for a broken neck. That is a month of wages for me.
I've been trying to reach the office trying to get a refund, but they won't return my call.
Save your energy, and you're hard-earned money.. nothing but a totally wasted time.. in my case.... 2 years in prison!!! Go down the road and obtain a better attorney. I want my money back.
Justice is a Virtue.. anything other than this should be considered a crime.

My wife decided to divorce me after 35 years of marriage. I was very concerned about what this would do to my financial future, and especially being late in my career, my future retirement. I had heard many horror stories about how the laws in Kansas favor the female in a divorce. Only having very limited experience with lawyers, I decided to treat my lawyer selection like an interview process. I scheduled meetings with 2 lawyers to get started. Prior to my meeting with the lawyers, I reviewed all of my divorce papers in great detail. I identified several significant concerns with the terms that my ex’s legal counsel created. My first lawyer meeting was with Desiree Smith.
When I met with Desiree, my first question was about how she was going to represent me. Was I just a lost cause, because I was a male, or was she going to fight for everything she could get for me to protect my future retirement? She reassured me that she was working for me, and she would be doing everything she could for me. She asked me several general questions to understand our financial situation, and then laid out the typical scenarios that could happen in my situation. That immediately set me at ease, knowing that my financial future was not ruined, and that I had a path forward. She then reviewed the terms in the divorce papers. Within only 3-4 minutes of review, and without my assistance, she identified every concern I had about their terms, and a couple more that I hadn’t noticed. At that point, I knew I had found the right person to represent me, and I didn't need to meet with the next lawyer.
Throughout the rest of the divorce process, Desiree’s experience and knowledge showed in every conversation we had. She could quickly discuss detail, easily recall detail from previous meetings, easily answer questions, and was able to help me think through strategies for moving forward. Every meeting I had with her was very productive.
In the end, Desiree helped get a great settlement for me, and we did it without going to court. I got a far better settlement than I ever thought possible in the beginning, and I feel like I probably got a better settlement that most divorced men. Desiree was a very big part of making that happen. I can’t say enough about her knowledge, and how she could explain legal concepts in ways easy for me to understand. Definitely dont recommend but it's all that's out there. Got a DUI 2022 barely talked to the guy didn't even know he had an assistant until court. Ended up paying and getting exactly what I would have if I didn't hire them. So DUI no! They may be good at other charges though. 3k gone.

This law office discriminated me as a domestic violence, discrimination and sexual violence victim. I had asked this office for advice regarding naturalization on 10/18/23. The assistant in the office proceeded to ask me regarding my case in an open room filled with people. I was very uncomfortable. She then took me into a room and took copies of my evidences. Mind you, I have not signed any forms of confidentiality with the lawyer or the office.
Then I recieved a message saying that “I had talked to one of the assistants about citizenship” and in the next sentence the assistant juxtaposed her position referring to her communication with the lawyer regarding my citizenship. Essentially, the assistant Pricila was advising me regarding the matter as she was the one that reached out not the lawyer. She extrapolated that I take my prints to the FBI which is quite odd. However, what really bothers me is that the assistant had the audacity to claim inaccurate information regarding a DUI that I do not have. The office was very unprofessional and lack confidentiality in terms of practices that involve the community.

DO NOT HIRE MARC! He is an awful attorney! My friend has been going through a custody battle and recently got into a bad car accident, when she first spoke to Marc he told her it would be a flat fee, she paid it in full, after that Marc never prepped her for court nor communicated with her, he avoids her calls/emails and then attempted to ask for MORE money. Due to her being disabled now, she has no more money and he hasnt helped in the least with her current custody battle. She asked for him to withdraw and he hasnt responded. This has been going on for 6 months +. PLEASE DO YOUR DUE DILLIGANCE and proceed with extreme caution when considering Marc.

This office is horrible. My mother wanted a second set of ears when she talking with this office and they refused to speak to her because SHE wanted someone to listen in. They insisted on a power of attorney for the person my mom requested present. These demands are unrealistic. There's no need for a p.o.a.. Possibly a confidentiality issue but not even that. It's like going to the doctor and having an extra set of ears present. It's not any concern of this office who a member chooses to have present. I would NEVER recommend Riling, Burkhead, and Nitcher! Represent yourself before you bother with this place. There are plenty of qualified attorneys that are happy to help a client.

David hawley was understanding, and helpful in my case. He answered any questions I had and was also reassuring. He comes off kind of aggressive but that’s what you need for someone to fight for you, David got right to the point and straight to it with everything in my situation. I don't even know where to start. I paid David to fight my case. Today, he didn't show up for court. I had to call him and then when he finally appeared, he talked for less than 5 minutes. He did nothing to defend me and refused my call after. His assistant told me he was in the bathroom literally a minute after court and thet he would return it later. He never did. He was also late to meetings that he set up and legit yelled at me multiple times. He is a bully and a waste of money

I asked to go back to my maiden name. Divorce is final but i have to do extra to get my name back. No follow up I would hear from the court before I would hear from my lawyer. I had to pester for emails. Of the 4 things I asked him to address he only took care of 1. I wish I could get my money back. Complete waste.
