On December 17, 2021, I was accused of committing a crime I didn't do. I was slammed with 2 counts of Felony charges. I found Jennifer Speas to represent me. When I got to her office to meet her one-on- one, she was already prepared. She had analyzed my case and she was ready for a defense. She made a move to dismiss the charges but I had the most difficult prosecutor at that time so she refused to dismiss. Jenniferr was always ready for Trial because I insisted not to settle for any plea that would ruin my life. Jennifer also brought in another Defense Attorney who is equally good. She didn't charge me for it. She paid him from her retainer. She and the co-counsel were bent on defending me with everything they've got. They kept fighting and fighting for me. We started the first trial in December 2023 but the judge dismissed the jury on day 3 because the prosecutor kept hiding information from the defense. We were ready to start the second Trial on August 12, 2024. The new prosecutor dismissed the case on August 8, 2024. I highly recommend Jennifer Speas for your defense any day. Don't think about it. Just hire her. Thank you, O.O

Five stars doesn’t feel like enough to give this team, so I encourage you to read this entire review as what happened to my family was life-changing. Three years ago, my husband had a routine surgery and developed severe complications just hours following. The lack of care received following his surgery ultimately impacted our entire future. My husband is permanently disfigured and his relationship with myself and our children was deeply fractured. I received Mr. Dworak’s name from a colleague and decided to explore whether we had a case or if he would even entertain it. I’ve learned medical malpractice cases are difficult to prove and rarely return a verdict in favor of plaintiffs. Mr. Dworak took time to review our notes, medical records, and believed in our story so much he agreed to fight for us—despite all odds stacked against us. My husband and I were going up against one of the largest medical corporations in the Midwest. Paul Dworak and Jeff Storms gave us a voice and a platform to share our story…and to prove in a court of law what happened to us should never have happened. In front of six jurors our story was shared… argued… and BELIEVED. Paul and Jeff’s tenacity… their ability to uncover truths… and their desire to fight for people who wouldn’t stand a chance against a powerhouse is what makes this team life changing for so many people. My family included. I will never be able to thank Paul and Jeff enough for believing in us, for fighting for us, and for dedicating their careers to doing this same thing for others. Thank you Paul and Jeff for showing the world the people with all the power don’t always win. If you’re reading this and need help like we did, this is your team. They’ll never stop fighting for you.

The most successful, authentic, and genuine firms and entities are the ones with almost all 5-Star reviews and a few 1 Star reviews.... There has never been more incentive than to discredit good attorneys seeking to defend the people in a city stacked with Fortune 500 companies, lawyers, and interests. The people at this firm are brilliant individuals that could easily be working in DC if they wanted to, but choose to support the community they operate in.....these painfully fake reviews just show how out of touch these hedge fund players and their lackeys are with reality.

Awful. No communication, No listening, they talk a big game to get you on board and that’s when it falls apart. By and large, they don’t care what the case is. They just want your money. Mary R was what nightmares are made of when it comes to attorneys. She had zero understanding, refused to communicate, charged me for doing nothing, and I’m unfortunately left with no other option to report not only to my Att Gen but also the Office of Prof Resp. Bill padding for doing nothing and horrible treatment with zero communication- I will not let this go, I will see this through. Not acceptable at all. The unprofessional actions of one attorney could end up being a messy situation for the entire firm. So unprofessional, absolutely the worst experience of my life They will claim not to know me, but they do

I can summarize my experience with Stacy Kaye in two words; effortless results. From the moment I contacted Appelman Law Firm they took the ball and ran with it. I provided Stacy with the information that I had and from that point I sat back and she handled everything, ultimately settling my case to my satisfaction. I strongly recommend Stacy Kaye and Appelman Law Firm if you want “effortless results.”

Stacy handled my case professionally and with the confidence I would expect in a top lawyer. She was clearly determined to and did achieve the best possible outcome for me. She gathered all information and didn't hesitate to go the extra distance to ensure I was represented in the best possible way. Without Stacy, I would have been unable to achieve results in a county where it was there way or no way. Stacy worked through that and got me the best results.

Last week 9/5/24 our 16 years dream came true. Finally, we received our green cards. David Wilson worked on our case for the last 5 years. It is very rare to find someone with passion and dedication towards his clients like David. He treats every client like a close family member. Two things will distingue him forever way above any other lawyer we have met in our long journey towards our residency dream: 1- He offered us a two-year payment plan for the office legal fees, without my family or me even asking for it, he just offered it due to his deep commitment to helping his clients. 2- On the day of the green card interview, he came to the USCIS office half an hour early before our time, he just waited with us addressing our worries and anxiety, he spent almost two hours with us until the interview is over, he did it all with no extra penny charges, just out of his deeply passionate and support to his clients. With his help, support, and deep understanding we became USA residents.

Thank you to Wilson Law Group, for the great job done for myself and my family. Heberth G.

Shes suppose to be the main point of contact for my case. She told me to get retreated for my injuries at a chiropractor and when the chiropractor could not get a hold of her, I asked her to call him and she said she would and never did. Finally I asked her to try and final my case as my accident was in 2019 and she told me she will no longer work on my case because of my additude. I did not know asking for communication was against the law.

I was in a accident which caused my car to get totaled. My lawyer was not able to help due to the pandemic so he transfered me to kris neros. She staed that she will be my new lawyer in March 2022 and I explained to her what happened and she mentioned she will be my main point of contact going forward. I have not spoken to her for 4 months. Recently she stated I should try and get retreated and I had to meet with an adjuster to which kris said "I will call you to prep you for this meeting" I did not get a call from her nor did I an messaged from her responding to me. The adjuster then stated I do not need to be retreated. Kris then suggested that I go to get treated anyways so I did. I'm now having to be the middle person person with the chiropractor and kris and I constantly have to rich out to both of them to talk to eachother. I messaged kris that is the insurance company has given a final offer on my case, that we should except it cuz she not communicated with me at all. Today August 10 2022 the chiropractor messaged me again stating that adjuster does not think I need retirement. So I messaged kris and asked for an updated and stated that if she's not going to be the main point of contact then please let me know to which kris responded that u should be receiving my paper work and she doesn't appreciate my additive and for me to find a new lawyer. I will diffinatle be reporting her lack of representation to the lawyers professional responsibility board. It sucks that she has 100 %positive reviews as I did not receive this kind of treatment.

My business was one of the many destroyed and looted during the Lake Street riots. I found myself having to deal the aftermath of such a devastating situation I never in my life expected to have to deal with. I knew I needed to find an experienced professional to make sure I came out of it ok. Kris Naros stepped right up to help me navigate through the complex insurance claim process, making sure I got every penny of coverage available, explained everything to me in a prompt and understandable manner and showed true care and compassion throughout the process, helping me and my business get rebuilt and back on track quickly. I am so great full for everything they have done for me and my business. I highly recommend Kris Naros and Naros Law - they are the best!

I applied for the Human Resources Assistant position with Stinson, LLP in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in August 2024. I was called the next day after applying via their online job application on their website. My initial telephone interview was with Chelsea L. Clennan, Director of Human Resources for Stinson, LLP, who's located in their Wichita, Kansas office. Chelsea was immediately complimenting me, telling me that any employer would be lucky to have me, that my skillsets are perfect for the role, that they would move quick for me in the recruitment process, they would make same-day job offers if needed-- immediately raising red flags for me that she was not a genuine person. She immediately moved me on to the second and final stage of the hiring process: the final interview with the hiring manager, the HR manager of the Minneapolis office-- both of whom reported to Chelsea. My suspicions of Chelsea would prove correct when, all the sudden, after letting her know after my final interview on Friday afternoon that I did have another offer, which I'd received the day prior, Chelsea responded to my email quickly, letting me know her and her hiring team would meet on Monday. In her email to me, which I've attached, she even told me her team considered me a top candidate. Monday came and went-- nothing, crickets. Tuesday, I received the attached screen shot email, letting me know they'd meet later that day. I replied, thanked her for keeping me in the loop, even further expressing my gratitude for keeping in touch with me and making me feel respected and valued. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday -- absolute radio silence from Chelsea L. Clennan. I sent a polite follow up email Friday afternoon-- again, I had been ghosted. Not a single reply or word from Chelsea or her team ever since -- despite her shtick of "you're a top candidate" and "we move quickly." I shudder to think how Stinson, LLP employees -- whether in Minneapolis or Kansas -- are treated if Chelsea treated a job applicant -- me -- with what I felt like was pure garbage and disrespect. Personally, I do not recommend Stinson as a place to work based on my experience as a job candidate and how I feel I was treated. When people like the human resources director show you their true colors-- believe them.

I walked in alone to a hearing riddled with anxiety and uncertainty, with no legal representation. Not knowing what was going to be my outcome, especially over a situation that should not have even been brought to a level where court would have been involved, I requested a court appointed attorney. I have never lucked out so much in my entire life than I did that day. Stinson Law firm just so happened to be providing pro bono work that morning and took my case. The two attorneys I worked with not only helped me feel validated in my disbelief that I was even there, but also were the most knowledgeable powerhouse of representation I could have ever asked for. If I were to sum it all up in 3 reasons why I would recommend them to anyone, it would be: Top notch negotiation skills, an unmatched knowledge of the law surrounding my scenario, and for being the most personable, down to earth people, to have the pleasure of working with.

Hello I'm a single father and the twin cities. My son's mother has made it very difficult for me to be in my son's life. I speak from experience. Travis is a true gladiator! When representing his clients he spares no expense when fighting for you to be in your child's life. It is an honor to recommend him at the highest levels of expectation. Fortunately for me I have Travis on my side who has years of practice in the justice system, and has the experience and not just family law, business law, and criminal defense law with a appellate court practice. Literally at One stop shop. He takes the time to explain best possible outcomes, as well as the realities of least possible outcomes. In addition to this his retainer and hourly rate are very reasonable. I strongly recommend his services and legal support to anyone in my network in need of the best representation in the legal market. Thank you for reading!

Mr. John Lucas and I met today, Monday October 30, 2017. Mr. Lucas is currently a Public Defender on behalf of Hennepin County. Mr. Lucas was very informative and shared with me that DWI cases have a statute of limitations of 3 years. If this is true, why would any County or City Hall Attorney's office be allowed to continue prosecuting a DWI Case over 3 years old, or where an outstanding Warrant has been purged from the records. Just saying, all you "nameless" City Hall Attorneys in the State of Minnesota, wise up and stop prosecuting "dusty," Statute of Limitations expired cases, and wasting Judges, Court Administrators, Attorneys & Defendant's time with "crap" cases, when the case has exceeded the Statute of Limitations, according to Attorney, John Lucas.

Drake represented my ex in a custody battle even though Drake is his first cousin. Drake being my ex’s first cousin knew without doubt that my ex has been very mentally unstable, abusive, and dangerous since he was a teen. Drake stood by his cousin though and together they petitioned a generous parenting time schedule for my ex and no child support payments either! This is odd given I was not able to get Drakes cousin to share any parenting responsibilities prior to our court date making me the only care taker at the time of the hearing. Drake knew fighting for the rights of putting an infant with a documented, record having active abuser 50% of the time who suffered ongoing severe psychosis and mental illness wasn’t in the best interest of my child but he wasn’t going to let his little cousin get the outcome our family deserved. Drake looked me in the eyes at the court house and told me the only person who dosent have to tell the truth in court is the lawyer. He intimidated me verbally which I don’t think is standard procedure…. Because of the 50/50 parenting time split countless physical abuses have been inflicted on me in front of my son by Drakes cousin. I was strangled the other day by Drakes cousin and I was punched in the face in front of my son by drakes cousin. I know this man has 0 integrity so I’m sure he’d make a good defense attorney. He will negligently and recklessly endanger others for the benefit of his clients. I had to call the police when Drakes cousin strangled me because I was terrified for my life. I believed him when he said he was going to kill me. So now the question is, when I file this order of protection and motion to revisit the child custody order will Drake take his cousins case back on. Will he again try to secure disproportionally even more rights to his cousin in regards to custody when he knows how sick and dangerous his cousin really is? I doubt Drake would afford this amount of unprofessionalism and moral negligence to a case that’s not a potential conflict of interest but hey if he does Roll this loose with all his clients this guy is the king of criminal defense cases that require a slimey self proclaimed liar to represent clients with out the presence of pesky integrity. I’m literally shocked this person can represent a strangler and argue that they deserve more time with helpless kids.

If you want an attorney that doesn't do anything that you want and wastes a ton of time doing it, then billing you for it....this is your guy. Very weak in motivation to actually put effort into a case. Good luck!

I hired Steven Coon because I have been in a deportation situation since I was accused to brakes the OFP of the mother of my children. After four years of fight in court, Steven has been able to prove that I wasn’t an abusive person and that the mother of my kids didn’t need an OFP. Steven had always give me right recommendations and take the time for my case. He has been able to direct me to the right person that I need like anger manager and immigration attorney. I definitely recommend Steven Coon if you need any help and good advice from a criminal attorney. Good job and thank you Steven

Mr Coon was good enough for my situation. He counseled , predicted, and then executed. My case was pretty much straight forward. He gave me worst case scenarios, and what it would look like if everything just worked in my favor. Which ended up working all in my favor. The only thing that I can say that I didn’t like was the communication. I have yet to meet this bright lawyer in person, but he did what he said he was going to do and I appreciate him

He was the worst lawyer I could imagine having in my drug case. He never called back. Also he was often late to court. He won't fight for you but he will fight to get you to pay him then disappear

Eric was extremely helpful, before even retaining him as my attorney. He asked pertinent questions and made me feel comfortable with my options all while being in the consultation stage. The secretary always answers the phone at the firm and I never had an issue getting ahold of Eric directly once he gave me his direct line. He kept all of his promises regarding our plan of action and I highly recommend Eric if you are looking for a passionate, educated, detail-oriented attorney. Genuinely happy with his work.

Hire Eric Newmark on a drug case and he did absolutely NOTHING towards my defense. I couldn't get ahold of him hardly ever and he no showed on promised appts with me and missed phone calls to me that he had scheduled. He came to court unprepared and the only defense he offered was what I had done all the legwork on. His assistant knew little to no information about the case and would tell me each time I called that I would have to talk to Eric then he wasn't available. His office ended up refunded almost half of my initial fee which still wasn't enough considering he did nothing on the case. Horrible excuse for a lawyer.

What a Criminal Defense Lawyer Can Do for You

A criminal defense lawyer provides legal representation to individuals or organizations accused of criminal conduct. If you're facing criminal charges, a defense lawyer will work to protect your rights, build a defense strategy, and ensure you receive a fair trial. Their primary goal is to reduce or dismiss charges, secure an acquittal, or negotiate a favorable plea deal.

Criminal defense lawyers have extensive knowledge of criminal law and court procedures. They investigate your case, identify weaknesses in the prosecution's evidence, and represent you in court, ensuring that you have the best possible defense.

When Should I Hire a Criminal Defense Lawyer?

It’s crucial to hire a criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible if you are facing any criminal charges. Some situations in which you should seek legal representation include:

  • Arrest or police questioning: If you've been arrested or are under investigation, hiring a lawyer early on can prevent self-incrimination and protect your rights during police questioning.
  • Felony charges: Crimes such as murder, assault, drug trafficking, or robbery carry severe penalties, including long prison sentences. A defense lawyer is essential in these cases.
  • Misdemeanor charges: Even for less serious offenses like DUI, theft, or simple assault, a lawyer can help reduce penalties, negotiate alternatives to jail, or get charges dismissed.
  • Plea negotiations: If you’re considering a plea bargain, a lawyer can evaluate the deal, advise you on its consequences, and negotiate for more favorable terms.
  • Probation or parole violations: If you’ve been accused of violating probation or parole, a lawyer can defend you against additional penalties or revocation.
  • Juvenile offenses: For minors charged with criminal acts, a criminal defense lawyer can protect their future by minimizing legal repercussions or keeping the case in juvenile court.

What Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Do?

Criminal defense lawyers provide comprehensive legal services to protect their clients’ rights throughout the criminal justice process. Their duties include:

  • Case evaluation and investigation: Reviewing the evidence, interviewing witnesses, and investigating the facts to develop a strong defense strategy.
  • Legal advice: Advising you on your rights, the charges you’re facing, and potential defense strategies, including whether to take a plea deal or go to trial.
  • Negotiating plea bargains: Working with prosecutors to negotiate a plea deal that could reduce charges or minimize penalties.
  • Court representation: Representing you in all court hearings, including bail hearings, pretrial motions, trials, and sentencing hearings.
  • Filing motions: Filing motions to dismiss charges, suppress evidence, or reduce bail, depending on the specifics of your case.
  • Trial preparation and defense: Preparing a defense strategy and presenting arguments, evidence, and witnesses during trial to contest the prosecution's case.
  • Appeals: If you are convicted, a defense lawyer can appeal the conviction or sentence, arguing errors in the trial process or legal rulings.

How Are Criminal Defense Lawyers Paid?

Criminal defense lawyers generally charge clients in one of three ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: For straightforward cases (e.g., minor misdemeanors), some lawyers charge a one-time flat fee that covers all aspects of the defense.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing cases, lawyers may charge by the hour, with rates varying based on the lawyer’s experience and geographic location.
  • Retainer fee: In cases where extensive work is expected, the client may pay a retainer fee upfront. The lawyer then bills against that retainer for their work on the case.

The cost of criminal defense services can vary greatly, so it’s important to discuss fees during your initial consultation.

How Much Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a criminal defense lawyer depends on several factors, including the severity of the charges, the complexity of the case, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost guidelines are:

  • Misdemeanor cases: For relatively minor offenses, such as a DUI or petty theft, a flat fee may range from $1,500 to $5,000.
  • Felony cases: More serious charges, such as assault or drug trafficking, can range from $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the complexity and duration of the case.
  • Hourly rates: For cases billed by the hour, lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on their expertise and the case's location.
  • Additional expenses: You may also be responsible for other costs, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, or the cost of private investigators.

Be sure to clarify the lawyer’s fee structure and any potential additional costs during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Criminal Defense Lawyer

Before hiring a criminal defense lawyer, you’ll want to ensure that they’re a good fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has a strong track record with the specific type of criminal charges you’re facing, whether it’s DUI, drug offenses, or violent crimes.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services and whether you’ll be responsible for any additional costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
A good lawyer should provide an honest assessment of your case and the likelihood of dismissal, a plea bargain, or conviction.
  4. How many cases have you taken to trial?
While many criminal cases settle with a plea deal, it’s important to hire a lawyer with courtroom experience in case your case goes to trial.
  5. Who will handle my case?
Ask if the lawyer will be personally involved or if other attorneys in the firm will handle most of the work.
  6. How do you communicate with your clients?
Be clear on how often and through what channels you can expect updates on your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Criminal Defense Lawyer

To verify the credibility of a criminal defense lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their standing with the state bar: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any past disciplinary actions or complaints.
  • Read online reviews and testimonials: Platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google can provide insights from previous clients about the lawyer’s communication, professionalism, and case outcomes.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should have past clients or other professionals who can speak to their competence and work ethic.
  • Review their case history: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to see their experience with criminal cases, including high-profile or complex cases.
  • Look for trial experience: If your case might go to trial, make sure the lawyer has a strong history of courtroom advocacy and success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your first consultation with a criminal defense lawyer, bring the following:

  • Details of your case: Be prepared to provide a detailed account of the charges against you, including any documents related to your arrest, police reports, and court dates.
  • Criminal history: If you have any prior criminal convictions, inform your lawyer so they can understand how that may affect your current case.
  • List of witnesses or evidence: If there are any potential witnesses or evidence that may support your defense, share this information during the consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare questions about their experience, legal strategy, and fees to ensure you understand how they will handle your case.
  • Bail or release documents: If you’ve been released on bail, bring any paperwork related to your release conditions or restrictions.

By being well-prepared, you can help your lawyer quickly assess your situation and begin building an effective defense strategy.
