Leslie did my Estate Plan for me. I had no idea what I needed. She took the time to explain everything, so that I understood and could make decisions that were right for me. She is knowledgeable, and caring towards people. I was anxious at the beginning. I left feeling so much better, and with my Estate Plan done and all in a Beautiful Binder with everything put in there organized. I would recommend Bottimore & Associates to anybody who needs to get an Estate Plan done!

When I think of my time with Cindy Wysocki, Esq., tears of deep gratitude literally come to my eyes as I recall her strength and gentleness, her humor and sharp critical thinking, her willingness to get into the ultimate fighting cage we call the judicial system and her reluctance to throw a punch, and her commitment to fairness and open-hearted compassion. To the lawyer or firm across the virtual table, Cindy must seem formidable and relentless. To me as her client-friend, she was comforting, encouraging, and grounding. I never had to yield my voice or stuff down my questions. AND, Cindy held my concerns and fears, my heightened emotions and (sometimes) clear intuitive insights respectfully while guiding them in positive, productive ways. And best of all, Cindy knew me well enough at the end of a grueling process to be able to then assist and guide me in my needs to safeguard my estate and financial assets to be sure to leave them secure for the ones I love the most. Above all, I am forever grateful to Cindy for accompanying me as a caring fellow human being during one of the most devastating times of my personal life journey. She stayed by my side through unprecedented conditions, with unconditional care and concern, as one of the few who did in my life. Cindy is a legal Bodhisattva!!

I worked with Greg last year on a very personal matter. I found Greg's attentiveness to be severly lacking. I had to call him every time for an update, and he struggled to update on what was going on. Of the three times I was in court with him as my attorney, he personally attend a grand total of zero appearances, instead choosing to pay other attorneys, who didn't know my case, to show up. The last time I met with him in person, he looked through my file as though he had never seen it before, and had no real working knowledge of my case. I had to make the hard decision to seek another lawyer to complete the legal matter, and sadly, I cannot recommend Greg.

Mr. Magee provided us with estate planning assistance, including writing our wills. He was thoroughly prepared for our first meeting with advice speciifc to our family's situation. When we had questions about the language in our wills he provided thoughtful, clear responses. Mr. Magee was extremely professional throughout the process and even met with us on a Saturday in our neighborhood to witness the signing of our wills. He made the whole process easy and straightforward. We intend to use his services again should we need additional estate planning assistance.

Our son has learning disabilities and related court issues involving his ADHD behaviors. Greg worked with him as a teenager and now again as an adult. He was straightforward with Joshua and with us. We were looking for an advocate in the court to help Joshua face his issues. Greg established a good relationship with both Joshua and with us, in some very difficult circumstances. We navigated a very difficult time. Our son has not come out of this without requirements, but we were not looking to have the case dismissed so much as we were looking for him to get needed help and for the court to understand as much as it could. We are pleased with the outcome.

I was a client of Mr. Howard Comfort III, on a matter involving driving. He did an excellent job representing me and was successful at getting my charges dropped to a much lesser charge. Mr. Comfort always took the time to take my calls, and was patient with me, answering my questions and concerns. He helped me to get this unfortunate incident dealt with quickly, and with minimal penalty and court fees and even more importantly fought to keep my driving record from having unfavorable charges that would have hurt me in my future endeavors. I was extremely happy and satisfied with his professional abilities and knowledge handling my case. It’s hard to find a professional that will accept a payment plan, especially for a situation such as this, however Mr. Comfort was understanding and considerate and allowed me to make a smaller retainer fee with scheduled monthly payments to pay off the balance. He was a godsend! I would highly recommend Mr. Comfort to any and all prospective clients as I know firsthand that he does an outstanding job and deserves and enjoys the respect of the entire Legal Community as well as his Clients. I would not hesitate to refer him to anyone needing representation on any FAMILY MATTER or facing CRIMINAL CHARGES. “Thank you so much! Mr. Comfort, you helped me through a very scary and difficult time and your efforts will be forever appreciated!”.

To tell you a little of my case, I was going through a case involving CPS as my new born son was born positive for methamphetamines. My wife and mother of my new born son at the time was also positive prior to birth and at birth without my knowledge of. My wife feared I might take "our" son away because I did not do drugs and could because I was honest and had a full time job with no run ins with the law. My intention was never to do that to my wife at the time, I was more than willing to work it out with her in an attempt to repair our marriage and do what CPS was requesting as well as keep our son safe. During the first few weeks of involvement after the birth, my wife failed a UA and in turn knowing that CPS can take the baby away put all allegations on me, one being domestic violence. I hired Nicole for that incident, of which she proved that I was innocent and the case was dismissed later. During this incident my wife filed rape charges on me a month after this last allegation of DV. I found out by a police officer calling me, I asked Nicole if she could talk with them and represent me for that as well. Nicole had a good team working with Zach Myers whom not only represented me but I felt confident having someone not only law savvy but confident when they talked before the judge. I feel that those two things are critical in having great representation. That case also got dismissed proving my innocence. While Nicole did not have any part of my CPS case, helping me with those two allegations and proving my innocence protected me from incarceration, and the ability to divorce and get full custody of my son today. I am very pleased with her work as I have learned through this process of what to look for in choosing a good lawyer for a case that is needed. The other thing I found out to be great about Nicole is that she is compassionate, patient and understanding though the process from start to finish. She always had time to take my call or respond in a timely matter.

Nichole is more worried about climbing the ladder then people's money or criminal record. She sucked day 1. I told her I wanted my money back after our first hearing. She dragged me on never filing one motion on false charges, She made huge mistakes in my case, used up all the continuance. Then when I comain about her to Dan, he withdraws from the case. Doesn't refund any money to this point, none of my files or disks returned. She is the Worst attorney I've ever known. She more if an infractions attorney. Which hello public, that means might as well have a public defender . Puget Law Group as a whe is basically a DUI lawfir.. They can't handle complicated cases, shoot they can't handle misdemeanor cases. If your in real hot water, stay clear.

Mr. Ewetuga is very good at what he does. I went to him in a panic because a past creditor had my wages garnished for an account that they thought was still outstanding. I knew I had paid off this account and fortunately, I kept all of my paperwork from three years ago. During our consultation, he recommended that I take action and contact the creditor first to let them know I paid the debt. Then I should fax over the documents showing them proof it was paid since the first collection agency failed to follow up with the original creditor. If that didn't work, then we would proceed to plan B. After gathering my thoughts, I went home and did what he instructed. I contacted the creditor, explained the situation, and faxed over the documents. A little bit later, I called back to make sure they received everything. They then explained to me that they faxed this information over to my employer to withdraw the garnishment, and they would stop collection efforts. That really made my day! I have never experienced wage garnishment before, and I was upset and full of anxiety that collections came after me again after I paid off this debt, but Mr. Ewetuga knew exactly what to do! I know some attorneys would have figured out a way to just drag this out and charge me a huge bill, but his payment was definitely reasonable as well as his services. Thank you Mr. Ewetuga!

Emailed a few times, maybe 3 times, in regard to a refund on the remainder of a payment I made for services not received. I was not rude in any of them but firm on wanting the refund and inquiring when that would be. Lance called me with reasons why I “disregarded” the agreement I signed. I said I want to know if I will be receiving a refund or not from the firm, otherwise, I would do my part on recovering the remainder of funds. He then states, “I guess this ends our working relationship, idk who else you’ll complain to” I’m not sure why Lance felt comfortable enough to speak to me in this manner but I don’t appreciate it and I would advise against hiring someone who is rude for no apparent reason. In May 2012 I hired Jennifer to defend me in a DUI case. Jennifer did not return phone calls on more than one occasion and she allowed her front desk administrative assistant to answer my questions if I called and she was not available. On the two occasions we went to court, Jennifer showed up after court was called to session, and did not preface the court hearing with me. The end result was that I received a sentence that was above the minimums in terms of jail time and fines and was mandated to receive treatment for alcohol when I am clearly not an alcoholic.

Review of Attorney Nathan Trudeau I recently worked with Attorney Nathan Trudeau on two cases involving no-contact orders with my ex-wife and her boyfriend. Unfortunately, I am not happy with Mr. Trudeau's services and want to share my feedback in a clear and professional way, based on my own experiences. Right from the start, it was clear that Mr. Trudeau didn't prepare enough or work diligently like a good defense attorney should. He told me and my family attorney that the first case against my ex-wife's boyfriend would be easy to win, but during the hearing, he seemed unprepared and acted arrogantly. During the legal proceedings, Mr. Trudeau mostly relied on reading case law and didn't pay enough attention to the specific details of my case. This lack of attention to detail and understanding of the facts hurt his ability to represent me effectively. In the second case against my ex-wife, Mr. Trudeau expressed doubts about our chances of winning. Although he was a bit more prepared this time, he still relied heavily on materials from my family lawyer instead of developing his own strong defense strategy. Sadly, we lost both cases. I decided to appeal the first case, even though Mr. Trudeau disagreed. He then offered a deal from the other side, asking me to drop the case and pay $1700 to cover their attorney fees. I refused to drop the case or pay anything, but Mr. Trudeau convinced me that he could get the $1700 fee waived if I dropped the appeal. Unfortunately, he couldn't keep that promise, and we ended up dropping the appeal and owing the other side $3500 in attorney fees. After seeking the opinions of other lawyers, including one who knows the owner of Mr. Trudeau's firm, it became clear that Mr. Trudeau made several mistakes that led to our negative outcome. This agreement among legal professionals confirms my concerns about Mr. Trudeau's abilities and work ethic. Based on my experiences, I strongly advise against choosing Attorney Nathan Trudeau for legal representation. Instead, I recommend finding another attorney who is dedicated, prepared, and pays attention to detail for a better defense. I hope Mr. Trudeau learns from his mistakes and finds a career path that suits him better. Please remember that this review is based on my own opinion and experiences and should be seen as such.

I have been a colleague of Mr. Trudeau's and have been able to watch him work and zealously advocate for people for a number of years. Rare is the attorney who works as tirelessly or on such a personal level as Nathan. Anyone who has him as their advocate is certainly in good hands.

Do better, be kinder.

I hired him on a referral for a misdemeanor charge. He upped his deposit demand at the last minute from a previously agreed figure, fumbled a simple presentation in court, and also added questionable fees in his final bill.

I really don't know what to say. I went there once, was told to come in. Wasn't able to be seen. Come back maybe a month later with an appointment that I had to confirm over the phone, and they tell me I didn't confirm via text, when there was nothing to confirm in their texts. Waste of gas, they would not see me. Was given an appointment over the phone, and just now was told they had to cancel me. This is ridiculous!!

Having Travis as my attorney was equal to a master class in criminal law. As a four time felon: I would sit in the front row If Professor Currie was teaching. If you are lucky enough to have Mr. Currie assigned as your council, be advised: respect his legal acumen. More important than Travis’s knowledge of the law, Mr. Currie has the geniality to explain negative consequences with compassion, decency and grace. The citizens of Pierce County should be proud Mr. Currie is ready to defend their peace and dignity.

I wouldn't recommend Travis to my enemy! 1st- He never returns calls. 2- When you see him/talk to him, ALL HE DOES, IS TRY TO SCARE YOU. His advice is always to take the deal. IMHO- very cynical, too. 3-Every time in courtroom he sits there and does crossword puzzles!!! 5x"s so far! Looks silly in my OPINION! SO? I KICKES HIM.TO THE CURB. HIRED.CHIP MOSELY. HE CONFIRMED THAT TRAVIS WAS NOT TELLING ME THE TRUTH. ON bail jumping, if the person misses.court date due to MIS-COMMUNICATION with you're attorney, THATS A REAL EXCUSE! ! ACCORDING TO TRAVIS IT WASN'T. HE TOLD ME IT WASN'T! !! I.never felt ok one time with him..2008 I fired him on.another case too. He.didn't remember me...I gave him a REAL CHANCE to work.for me...He.doesn't.

What a Criminal Defense Lawyer Can Do for You

A criminal defense lawyer provides legal representation to individuals or organizations accused of criminal conduct. If you're facing criminal charges, a defense lawyer will work to protect your rights, build a defense strategy, and ensure you receive a fair trial. Their primary goal is to reduce or dismiss charges, secure an acquittal, or negotiate a favorable plea deal.

Criminal defense lawyers have extensive knowledge of criminal law and court procedures. They investigate your case, identify weaknesses in the prosecution's evidence, and represent you in court, ensuring that you have the best possible defense.

When Should I Hire a Criminal Defense Lawyer?

It’s crucial to hire a criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible if you are facing any criminal charges. Some situations in which you should seek legal representation include:

  • Arrest or police questioning: If you've been arrested or are under investigation, hiring a lawyer early on can prevent self-incrimination and protect your rights during police questioning.
  • Felony charges: Crimes such as murder, assault, drug trafficking, or robbery carry severe penalties, including long prison sentences. A defense lawyer is essential in these cases.
  • Misdemeanor charges: Even for less serious offenses like DUI, theft, or simple assault, a lawyer can help reduce penalties, negotiate alternatives to jail, or get charges dismissed.
  • Plea negotiations: If you’re considering a plea bargain, a lawyer can evaluate the deal, advise you on its consequences, and negotiate for more favorable terms.
  • Probation or parole violations: If you’ve been accused of violating probation or parole, a lawyer can defend you against additional penalties or revocation.
  • Juvenile offenses: For minors charged with criminal acts, a criminal defense lawyer can protect their future by minimizing legal repercussions or keeping the case in juvenile court.

What Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Do?

Criminal defense lawyers provide comprehensive legal services to protect their clients’ rights throughout the criminal justice process. Their duties include:

  • Case evaluation and investigation: Reviewing the evidence, interviewing witnesses, and investigating the facts to develop a strong defense strategy.
  • Legal advice: Advising you on your rights, the charges you’re facing, and potential defense strategies, including whether to take a plea deal or go to trial.
  • Negotiating plea bargains: Working with prosecutors to negotiate a plea deal that could reduce charges or minimize penalties.
  • Court representation: Representing you in all court hearings, including bail hearings, pretrial motions, trials, and sentencing hearings.
  • Filing motions: Filing motions to dismiss charges, suppress evidence, or reduce bail, depending on the specifics of your case.
  • Trial preparation and defense: Preparing a defense strategy and presenting arguments, evidence, and witnesses during trial to contest the prosecution's case.
  • Appeals: If you are convicted, a defense lawyer can appeal the conviction or sentence, arguing errors in the trial process or legal rulings.

How Are Criminal Defense Lawyers Paid?

Criminal defense lawyers generally charge clients in one of three ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: For straightforward cases (e.g., minor misdemeanors), some lawyers charge a one-time flat fee that covers all aspects of the defense.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing cases, lawyers may charge by the hour, with rates varying based on the lawyer’s experience and geographic location.
  • Retainer fee: In cases where extensive work is expected, the client may pay a retainer fee upfront. The lawyer then bills against that retainer for their work on the case.

The cost of criminal defense services can vary greatly, so it’s important to discuss fees during your initial consultation.

How Much Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a criminal defense lawyer depends on several factors, including the severity of the charges, the complexity of the case, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost guidelines are:

  • Misdemeanor cases: For relatively minor offenses, such as a DUI or petty theft, a flat fee may range from $1,500 to $5,000.
  • Felony cases: More serious charges, such as assault or drug trafficking, can range from $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the complexity and duration of the case.
  • Hourly rates: For cases billed by the hour, lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on their expertise and the case's location.
  • Additional expenses: You may also be responsible for other costs, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, or the cost of private investigators.

Be sure to clarify the lawyer’s fee structure and any potential additional costs during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Criminal Defense Lawyer

Before hiring a criminal defense lawyer, you’ll want to ensure that they’re a good fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has a strong track record with the specific type of criminal charges you’re facing, whether it’s DUI, drug offenses, or violent crimes.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services and whether you’ll be responsible for any additional costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
A good lawyer should provide an honest assessment of your case and the likelihood of dismissal, a plea bargain, or conviction.
  4. How many cases have you taken to trial?
While many criminal cases settle with a plea deal, it’s important to hire a lawyer with courtroom experience in case your case goes to trial.
  5. Who will handle my case?
Ask if the lawyer will be personally involved or if other attorneys in the firm will handle most of the work.
  6. How do you communicate with your clients?
Be clear on how often and through what channels you can expect updates on your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Criminal Defense Lawyer

To verify the credibility of a criminal defense lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their standing with the state bar: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any past disciplinary actions or complaints.
  • Read online reviews and testimonials: Platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google can provide insights from previous clients about the lawyer’s communication, professionalism, and case outcomes.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should have past clients or other professionals who can speak to their competence and work ethic.
  • Review their case history: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to see their experience with criminal cases, including high-profile or complex cases.
  • Look for trial experience: If your case might go to trial, make sure the lawyer has a strong history of courtroom advocacy and success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your first consultation with a criminal defense lawyer, bring the following:

  • Details of your case: Be prepared to provide a detailed account of the charges against you, including any documents related to your arrest, police reports, and court dates.
  • Criminal history: If you have any prior criminal convictions, inform your lawyer so they can understand how that may affect your current case.
  • List of witnesses or evidence: If there are any potential witnesses or evidence that may support your defense, share this information during the consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare questions about their experience, legal strategy, and fees to ensure you understand how they will handle your case.
  • Bail or release documents: If you’ve been released on bail, bring any paperwork related to your release conditions or restrictions.

By being well-prepared, you can help your lawyer quickly assess your situation and begin building an effective defense strategy.
