I hired Floyd to handle a divorce case and he likes to shuffle papers and over bill.
I feel he is unorganized because weeks I would go by and I wouldn’t hear anything. Finally I will send an email to inquire about my case then I was flooded with emails that were sent to him weeks ago. I finally fired him because he was taking my money. The next step will be a complaint with the ARDC.

As a small business owner that made a terrible honest mistake with IRS taxes, we were referred to Lane Marc Gensburg by our CPA .
After a short call and a reasonable retainer amount of 3k Lane started working on my case, getting information about our situation, we were positive we got the right guy! ABSOLUTELY NOT! This is the type of lawyer you need to stay away from, he transfer our case to Michael Gutting from his office, this guy was a total joke, he made us provide all the paperwork we provide Lane again, and of course he charge us for it again, this time the bill come back more than twice the retainer amount, we immediately called Lane , overwhelmed by the bill amount, Lane told us that the majority of the work was done and we should not get anything significant bills, but of course we did!!! Not only that the bills kept coming he also wasn't informed at all of our case progress, I remember we had a conference call between Michael, Lane and my business partner and he didn't have a clue on what's going on with our case.
Not only he was just a very expensive way to transfer all of our business financial information to the IRS agent, we end up worse then before we hired him, the tax agent was pissed and before his office start working on this case, the tax agent was willing to help us with payment plans and was going to recommend reducing the penalties, but that was not the case anymore.
At the end of the day if Lane was honest with us he should take our case as an adviser and get the CPA that freered us to him to provide the paperwork to the IRS.
Again we are a small business and almost 20k fees are not proportional.

My husband had previously used Mr. Skinner for a DUI case so I was already aware of his ability. I came to him for a child support issue and once again he proved to be the best lawyer for the job. He was able to get me back child support and also got the court to enforce some other provisions on my ex. I had used another lawyer in the past, but it didn't end well. Mr. Skinner was able to do more in 3 months than my previous lawyer did in almost a year. I would definitely recommend him!

I made the terrible mistake of driving while drunk (which led to a car accident), and I found myself with a DUI, a suspended license and several other legal problems. After getting recommendations from different people for various lawyers, I decided to go with Mr. Skinner. He was EXTREMELY knowledgable with my type of case and not only agreed to help me, but also worked with me on establishing an affordable payment plan for his services. You messed up but relief is nearby. You want an expert who will also listen to you, explain the situation and your options and put you in the best situation for a positive outcome. Martin is your guy. After you hire him when you are going through waves of freaking out you can come to Avvo and re-read the 100+ positive comments (I've read them all for comfort 8 times by now) and know you've done all you can to help your situation.
I put myself in a tough situation. I went out for a few drinks, nothing egregious but when I was leaving a parking lot I goosed it around a corner and squeeled my tires. I was pulled over and declined to talk the the officers about where I was that evening or participate in any sobriety tests. The prosecutors for DUI trials in Lake county are farmed out to a private firm and the state's firm sent their #1 top guy. Martin got us a Not Guilty on DUI and Reckless driving, and a modest fine and court supervision for squealing tires. Martin went head-to-head with the state's top dui prosecutor and left him noticeably pissed while we walked out with a huge W.
You'll be comforted by his understanding of Lake county courts and procedures. He will listen to you. We worked together to craft a defense and no point anything that I thought important was left unconsidered.
Even though my case hit a complication and dragged on a bit his flat rate fees were clear fair. Quite honestly they were about 75% of what I expected and was willing to pay for a proven winner.
He's super busy but will always make time for you. Most importantly, he's a genuinely good guy.
There's a reason for Martin's top rating. Do yourself a favor and pick the best. Get the free consult and make your own choice. It's hard to put a price in peace of mind. If you've read this, you've been informed. Unless you have another proven rockstar at your disposal to consider I strongly advise you to go with Martin.

Neal was my second lawyer in my divorce. The different between Neal and my first lawyer was night and day. Instantly my case got back on track, negotiations with my ex happened and were agreed to. On top of this, Neal was there for me personally as I asked many, many questions. I felt secure in a time of my life where I was at my lowest. He is a very honest lawyer and will tell you what you need to hear; no over promises, no grand statements. In fact, he has told me a few times that something wasn't worth going after.
Later in life I was remarried and Neal helped me with those nuptial agreements. He handled them professionally and with haste.

John Paul is great. He helped me with some driving related legal trouble that I had gotten myself into. He was able to work on my behalf to see me through to a satisfactory outcome. I ultimately had to pay a fine, but with John Paul's help, my penalty was on the minimum end of what it might otherwisehave been. My mom had purchased a condo after my dad died. The sellers of the condo stated they had homeowners, senior and senior freeze on their real estate taxes. Mom was supposedly given 110% of the taxes as credit on the master statement. However the sellers failed to apply for the senior freeze that year. After my dad passed away in April 2024, my mom and I filed for Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) through the VA. Despite working with a VA liaison and following up for 10 months, we received no real updates—just that the claim was still pending. Then, my mom received a notice from the VA, which she mistakenly believed was a denial of the DIC claim. Unfortunately, even the local VA liaison misinterpreted it, causing a lot of confusion. Given that my dad’s passing was clearly linked to his disability, we realized we needed legal representation and turned to James Comerford.

David is my third and last divorce attorney. I wish I had have found him in the beginning instead of wasting time and money on the other two attorneys . David's professionalism and knowledge helped me so much; his expertise is "Marital Law", which means his focus is dedicated on resolving matters in a professional manner. David is a calm and patient attorney but is aggressive when there is a need to be. What I like about this firm is that David's staff is always supportive and on top of things. With the other law firms that I had before, they would purposely stretch court dates out and do unnecessary tasks just to charge up your bill. David's law firm does only what is needed and necessary. Do yourself a favor and take my advise, you get what you pay for. This law firm is well worth every penny.
