I am extremely impressed and pleased with the service I received from Carmen. I have been involved in numerous contract negotiations, having served on a board of managers, as well as CFO. Nonetheless, Carmen added numerous insights that I had not contemplated. She did an outstanding job protecting my interests. I will certainly continue to utilize her services in employment related matters.

I had the pleasure of working with Christine Hopkins and she is an amazing attorney! She is very professional, kind, and just very straightforward which I appreciate. It was my first time having to hire a firm/attorney so I was a little nervous on what to expect. From the start, they made me feel like they were very interested in helping me regarding my case. Christine reached out to me within a day or two of me calling the firm. I had a choice between two firms and I’m so glad I trusted my gut and went with Tremain Artaza. Christine thoroughly communicated every step during the process and made sure I knew what the options were and what the risks were. We were able to get my case resolved very quickly. I would highly highly recommend this law firm and specifically Christine!

Horrible experience. I retained counsel to draft franchise documents. I was told the cost and estimated 3 weeks to complete. After 2 months, I received an additional invoice even though I paid in full. When I inquired, I was told to “google how much it costs to obtain franchise documents” and that it would be double to quadruple the price I was originally quoted. This should have been communicated upfront and not half way through. We could not have made this easier on John as we had a franchise consultant that handed John everything he needed. It is clear this firm has little to no experience drafting these documents and found themselves in over their head. I asked John to call me in the morning hoping to come to some sort of resolution. Instead, he sent me a half done draft and a closure document. I’ve never felt more like a number. This place has scammy tactics. I would stay far far away and definitely don’t take their word on anything.

Could not recommend a firm more!! My business instagram was hacked, and after exhausting every avenue to get back into it, I decided to reach out to Wilson Whitaker Rynell for legal help. I run my entire business through my account, so I was losing hundreds of dollars every day that I did not have access to my account, as well as my client confidentiality had been breached along with my own. They worked very quickly and diligently with me to help me get back into my account. Not only were they easy to work with, but they are very thorough and creative with their strategies. I ended up gaining access back to my account, and I cannot thank this firm enough!!

This lawyer came highly recommended! He NEVER went and saw his client! He didn’t communicate as he assured he would! Once he got his money it was radio silence! He never informed the family of canceled court dates knowing that they were driving in from Houston! He’s arrogant and very smug! He talked crazy and was very argumentative with my mother who’s a senior citizen! He lied and was very disrespectful and when I asked him to apologize, he said he would but didn’t! This is a stressful time for families and for a PAID attorney to behave this way is unacceptable! This is why SOME PEOPLE don’t like working with attorneys of our own skin! I wouldn’t recommend Andrew to help with a parking ticket!

Only reason why they are getting 2 stars is because they won my case.Mainly because the attorney I had there was amazing. But they drove her off near the end of my case and that's when everything went down hill. My case ended in February and I have been waiting for my reimbursement from my trust with them. They have continually said they have sent a check in the mail. But it never comes, I have called multiple times and asked that they wire it back to my account for a month straight and they still refuse to do so. It has been over 6 months and they blatantly refuse to return my money. I would not advise anyone using this firm.

One of the pet peeves of dealing with law firms so far, is the gate keepers, when they say no "not willing to take your case", especially after saying that and if I request to speak with a manager of the firm and they still say 'No' as if they own the firm. In any case the lady conversed with just did not bother forward my inquiry to an attorney, because it was an EEOC case. Regardless what type of the case it is, law firm should still give an opportunity for an employee to tell their story, especially if they will provide circumstantial evidence and when it comes to EEOC process. Especially if the employee had already done majority of the paperwork and all the firm needs to do is provide assistance for the rest of the way. If they do not have experienced attorneys for EEOC cases, well that's a whole different story. Regardless, they lost another business.

When we were searching for a lawyer, we felt that God led us to this firm. My husband had a business depute with a corrupt partner who was a bully, a liar, and a thief. We initially filed a lawsuit in 2020, at the height of COVID. We had a very good lawyer to help us through the case for the last 3 years but he unfortunately passed away this earlier this year. We needed to have someone else represent us, and we chose another lawyer firm (not this one). That lawyer from the other firm dropped our case because we didn’t agreed to have second mediation, even though we thoroughly explained to him we knew it was a waste our money, since the first mediation was very unsuccessful. Again in search of a new lawyer, God led us to the Godwin & Bowmen firm; the name Godwin itself was a very favorable sign for us. After we researched about Mr Ira Bowman we decide to have him & his partner (Ms Samantha Baynes) to help us with the case that was ongoing for over 3 years. Within 4 months we got the court day & my husband won the case - Praise God! I give thanks to Mr Ira for his knowledge, wisdom, boldness, friendliness & humility. The second lawyer that we had that dropped us was really prideful. In addition, I give many thanks to Ms Samantha Baynes (his partner) who is very thorough and detailed; she spent a lot of time to collect the data for the past 4 years, including the info from the two previous lawyers. I am very thankful for Mr Ira & Ms Samantha trust in us & helping us go through this trial. Many thanks to Godwin & Bowman firm for your legal assistance. I highly recommend this firm to anyone seeking for a trial legislation attorney. Mr Ira Bowman is the best lawyers who can fight for you. Thank you Jesus & thank you Godwin Bowman firm.

The intake process is terrible. Instead of wanting to talk to you they make you fill out an online form then somebody emails you saying that will not represent you. LOL. Of course not, you don't even know the whole story.

I am absolutely 100% pleased with how the ONDA team handled my case. My attorney, Caroline Near, provided an extremely robust legal defense, fighting hard on my behalf while being empathetic to my situation. It's true what they say: going through a divorce is one of the most traumatic events you can experience. That's why you need an attorney like Caroline in your corner. She will guide you through the complexities of the legal process with compassion and expertise.

Elliott Burdette and his team assisted us with our estate planning needs earlier this year. We were extremely pleased with their responsiveness, patience and guidance in helping us understand our options and advising us how best to handle our affairs. Additionally, we did this all during COVID-19 and he and his team were verying accomodating and respectful of social distancing requirements. We would highly recommend him!

We entrusted this attorney to help us with a serious situation regarding my being the target of my next door neighbor's obsessive and resentful attention. At first he did all he could to "win our trust" but at the months went by he began speaking to me in a condescending massgenistic way. He was lazy, unprofessional, and a real jerk. Now he had $7000 of our money and we are still wating for him to complete the task for which we hired him. He is a rude, arrogant, entitled, dangeriously passsive agressive and controlling person who will use your retainer fee and the duties set fourth to him as retaliation if he is expected to have even an inch of integrity and high sense of character. He has made a mess out of our situation and my family and I can't give him enough poor reviews.

So mulit talented and open minded! He is working with us regaring a horrible neighbor dispute. One of the few attorneys I have found that specialize in nuicance amongst so many other things. That is so rare to find. He is friendly, professional, and informative. Perfect for anyone doing their first and hopefully only lawsuit because he really guides and educates you. Glad I found him.

Let's face it. Divorce can be a worst experience of your life. My case is very frustrating, but he listens it very carefully and gave me a good advice. He is very professional, caring and a genuine lawyer. I am very impressed by their work and he provides me with a best service and at very affordable price. Because of him my case is solved. What an Estate Planning Lawyer Can Do for You

An estate planning lawyer helps individuals plan for the management and distribution of their assets after death or during incapacitation. Their services involve drafting important legal documents, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives. Estate planning attorneys work to ensure that your assets are transferred according to your wishes, minimize tax liabilities, and avoid probate court. They also help clients plan for potential long-term care needs and protect their estate from being diminished by healthcare costs.

By working with an estate planning lawyer, you can have peace of mind knowing that your loved ones will be cared for and that your estate will be managed efficiently and according to your desires.

When Should I Hire an Estate Planning Lawyer?

Hiring an estate planning lawyer is beneficial in many situations, especially when you want to ensure that your assets are handled properly after death. Common reasons to hire an estate planning lawyer include:

  • Drafting a will: If you want to clearly define how your assets will be distributed after death, an attorney can draft a legally sound will.
  • Creating a trust: For those looking to avoid probate or provide for loved ones over time, setting up a trust can help manage the distribution of assets.
  • Planning for incapacity: An estate lawyer can help draft powers of attorney and healthcare directives so that your financial and medical decisions are made by someone you trust if you become incapacitated.
  • Minimizing estate taxes: If your estate is large, a lawyer can help create strategies to reduce or eliminate federal and state estate taxes.
  • Special circumstances: If you have minor children, blended families, or complex assets like businesses, an estate planning lawyer can create tailored solutions.
  • Guardianship or conservatorship: If you want to designate guardians for minor children or ensure proper care for incapacitated adults, an attorney can help.

Hiring an estate planning lawyer is especially important if your estate is complex or if you want to ensure that your wishes are properly followed.

What Does an Estate Planning Lawyer Do?

An estate planning lawyer provides a range of services designed to help you organize your affairs and ensure your estate is managed according to your wishes. They can:

  • Draft wills and trusts: Creating legally binding documents that dictate how your assets will be distributed and managed.
  • Create powers of attorney and healthcare directives: Appointing someone to make financial or medical decisions for you if you become incapacitated.
  • Minimize taxes: Developing strategies to reduce estate taxes, gift taxes, and other financial liabilities for your heirs.
  • Help avoid probate: Structuring your estate plan to avoid probate, which can save time and money for your beneficiaries.
  • Advise on long-term care planning: Helping you plan for potential healthcare needs in the future, including Medicaid planning and protecting assets from being depleted by nursing home costs.
  • Assist with beneficiary designations: Ensuring that life insurance policies, retirement accounts, and other financial instruments are correctly designated.
  • Handle probate and estate administration: If a loved one has passed away, an estate planning lawyer can help guide you through the probate process or act as an executor.

How Are Estate Planning Lawyers Paid?

Estate planning lawyers typically charge for their services in one of several ways, depending on the complexity of your estate and the type of services you need. Common payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: Many estate planning services, such as drafting a will or trust, are charged on a flat-fee basis. The fee covers all work related to preparing the document.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex planning, such as estate tax strategy or trust administration, lawyers may charge by the hour. Rates vary based on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Retainer: Some lawyers require a retainer for more complex cases, such as ongoing trust management or estate administration. The retainer is an upfront payment that covers future legal services.

It’s important to discuss fees with your lawyer upfront to avoid unexpected costs.

How Much Does an Estate Planning Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an estate planning lawyer depends on the complexity of your estate and the services you require. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Simple wills or powers of attorney: A straightforward will or power of attorney may cost between $300 and $1,500, depending on your location and the lawyer’s experience.
  • Trust creation: Establishing a trust, such as a living trust or revocable trust, can cost between $1,000 and $3,000 or more, depending on the complexity of your assets and estate planning needs.
  • Comprehensive estate planning packages: Some lawyers offer packages that include wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives, which may range from $2,000 to $5,000 or more, depending on the estate’s complexity.
  • Hourly rates: For ongoing services like estate administration or tax planning, lawyers may charge hourly rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience.

Always get a clear estimate of costs during your initial consultation to ensure the services fit within your budget.

Top Questions to Ask an Estate Planning Lawyer

Before hiring an estate planning lawyer, it’s important to ask questions to ensure they are the right fit for your needs. Here are key questions to ask during your consultation:

  1. What is your experience with estate planning?
Ensure the lawyer has substantial experience drafting wills, creating trusts, and handling other estate planning services.
  2. How will you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a flat fee or by the hour and ask for a detailed estimate of costs.
  3. What strategies do you recommend for my estate?
A good lawyer should be able to explain the best strategies for minimizing taxes, avoiding probate, and ensuring your assets are distributed according to your wishes.
  4. How often should I update my estate plan?
Ask how frequently you should revisit your estate plan, especially if your financial situation or family dynamics change.
  5. Do you offer ongoing support or updates?
Some lawyers provide periodic reviews or updates to ensure your estate plan stays current with changes in your circumstances or the law.
  6. How will you help my beneficiaries if something happens to me?
Ensure the lawyer is willing to guide your heirs through the estate administration process or help manage your trust after you’re gone.

How to Check the Credibility of an Estate Planning Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a credible estate planning lawyer, follow these steps:

  • Verify their state bar license: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing, with no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for estate planning certifications: Some lawyers are certified as estate planning specialists, which indicates they have extensive knowledge in this area of law.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online reviews on sites like Avvo, Google, or Martindale-Hubbell can provide insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and client satisfaction.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from previous clients who can speak to their expertise and client service.
  • Check for membership in professional organizations: Lawyers who are members of organizations like the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) or the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) often have a strong reputation in the field.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with an estate planning lawyer, it’s important to come prepared. Here’s what you should bring:

  • List of assets and liabilities: Provide a detailed inventory of your assets, including real estate, bank accounts, retirement funds, investments, and personal property, as well as any debts you may have.
  • List of beneficiaries: Be ready to discuss who you want to receive your assets and in what proportions. This includes naming guardians for minor children if applicable.
  • Existing estate documents: Bring copies of any existing wills, trusts, powers of attorney, or other relevant estate planning documents.
  • Questions about your estate goals: Write down your goals, such as avoiding probate, reducing taxes, or setting up charitable donations, so your lawyer can tailor a plan to meet your needs.
  • Information on medical and financial decision-makers: Be prepared to discuss who you want to appoint for healthcare and financial decisions if you become incapacitated.

By being well-prepared, you can ensure a productive consultation and begin building a comprehensive estate plan that meets your needs and protects your loved ones.
