My husband left me after 37 years of marriage for another woman. I had had brain surgery 8 weeks before. To say I was in a bad way and devastated is an understatement.

I highly recommend Bill and his legal team!! They helped me through an extremely difficult divorce after long-term marriage with young children. He came highly recommended by friends and other attorneys in our community. Bill represented me through my divorce trial (with preceding court hearings as well) and through another modification hearing and trial shortly after the divorce trial, again initiated by ex. The Judge favored me in both trials (final decree from the divorce trial and the final order following the modification trial). I was initially awarded alimony, child support, and sole physical custody of the children and continue with all of these awards unchanged despite ex’s request for changes and elimination of these in the modification trial.
Not only were they exceptionally kind and attentive, but Bill’s wealth of expertise and his reputation in the legal community was definitely a plus. He and Sandra, his paralegal, knew how to navigate the many twists and turns of a complicated case and went up against both an aggressive opposing attorney and ex with confidence, ease, and wisdom. Tracy Marion, another amazing attorney new to Bill’s practice (although already a well-established and accomplished attorney) was also a huge asset in the second trial. He was very well-versed on my complex case and assisted Bill in our success. Tracy was also confident and very reassuring.
Bill has a brilliant, careful, fair, and considerate approach and listened intently to what was most important to me throughout the entire process. I am forever grateful to them and highly recommend them to others who have to go through this painful life event as well.

I retained Bill Burgess after a friend recommended him. I was repeatedly disappointed. He was cordial upon meeting him, spoke a good game, made some reassurances and took his retainer. The entire year was the most disappointing and frustrating year I have ever had dealing with him and his assistant. Besides over charging me for extraneous expenses, I am 2 years since post divorce and I am still in the legal system fighting my ex spouse because of the loop holes he allowed to pass in the final divorce decree. He and his assistant allowed me to be stuck in a joint loan with my ex-spouse who now has defaulted on his part of the loan payment which affects both of our credit even if I pay my half. I had no idea the law would not protect me nor that someone could not follow the divorce decree. When I would meet with Bill he would not remember my case, our first 30' me getting him up to speed, then he would write a letter to the opposing attorney just to be negated. My 3 friends who used him just before I did said the same thing. Never having been divorced before I wasn't sure what to expect. I am business owner myself and having done my profession > 20 years I could tell you in my sleep the normal process of start to finish. Being a divorce attorney for as long as Bill has, he should have been able to cut through the red tape, make it precise with clear cut decisions, take the emotion out of it, see the red flags and cut through the BS. No other business could run this poorly, and make the money he charged for his services. A >30 year experienced attorney should be able to help you decide what to give up and what to fight for and help you get the heck out of the legal system versus just tying you and your money up in a goat rope of letter writing with no win for anyone but his pocket book.

After meeting with this person who said he would represent my incarcerated boyfriend at the time of need for 800.00 I humbly went home and sold our car for this amount. After this was sold i took the money to DANNY MITCHELL. I did not go to Court because of work. The afternoon of the Court Date i got the call that DANNY MITCHELL didnt show up. Not only this but he didnt file Notice of Representation for monies rendered.
WOW! Now The Bar Association will get my claim of neglegants . And Im seeking damages. Danny Mitchell? Why did you take money from us and not even file representation or be in Court ? I inow you remember this.

Very rude, unprofessional, and judgemental. Would not return emails or calls. Thief at best. Will insult you and had no empathy for the case. Always blamed it on her employees. She had a new paralegal every 2 months. I can see why they didnt want to work for her. Didnt counter file anything. Doesnt file anything you ask. Had no details of the case. She didnt know where i lived, like she didnt read through my case at all. Had to repeatedly tell her my concerns over phone, emails and she was not understanding or showing like she cared. Lack of feedback and she didnt clear up any doubt. Doesnt really answer your questions and gives you the run around. Clearly showing signs of dementia. I feel like she Purposely lost the case which is so sad. Put complete trust in her and was a total let down destroying lives. She would not let any of my family talk to her. Was very defensive. She did not do her job at all. Reported her to the bar which she then gave them false details and twisted words.

I hired this lawyer to represent me in a child support modification case. I sent a $2000.00 retainer and was charged for every Email and phone call regardless of context. I traveled from northern Michigan to Alabama to attend the hearing. At about 9pm the night before the hearing I was contacted by a lawyer I had never spoken to before and whom knew nothing about my case. I had to try to explain everything to him as this was a somewhat complicated situation due to one of my adult children having a disability. The hearing was ultimately postponed for a few months and nothing was resolved. I was then told that not only had my retainer been used up but I owed hundreds of dollars. I feel cheated and would advise anyone thinking of hiring them to look elsewhere for someone that actually cares about their clients needs and takes some time to explain things. I had very little communication at all and I was afraid to ask questions due to the ridiculous fees for Emails and phone calls. I would be happy to provide the invoices I received to verify my statements are true.

I had an 8 year old DUI case come up. I had originally hired another lawyer, who has now passed, which left me with having to hire another. I paid Raynor $2000.00 plus $900 for a copy of the transcript. I was only able to meet with him one time before court and I was not counseled by him so that I would be ready for court. He had his mind made up that I was to be found guilty before we even went to court. He put forth absolutely no effort in defending me. Did not submit all of the solid evidence I had provided him with. Did not attempt to make the jury nor judge aware if the important and unique circumstances in this case.

Me. Clifton has represented me on several issues over the last several years, both criminal, and civil. He is great! Court was always a very terrifying thing for me, as I would literally shake every time I had to go. However, that got better after my first hearing with Mr. Clifton because it was obvious he was going to stand up and fight for me, and that is something you always want in an attorney, but rarely get. He spent time as a prosecutor, so he has experience from both perspectives. He he knowledgable, caring, and courteous. We met with Ms. MacLachlan to identify the legal steps to evict an individual that refused to leave our property. She took the time to explain in detail what was required- she explained our rights and the tenant's. She formulated a notification to the tenant and ensured it was sent and recorded in a timely manner. The notification was effective and we were able to resolve the issue. Ms. MacLachlan was very professional and responded to our request quickly and efficiently. We would not hesitate to use her services in the future.

I hired this attorney, paid her requested fee in TOTAL at first meeting, $1000 Dollars!. I was told it would be a one-time flat fee and so states our contract. I did not get the professional representation she promised and after pressing for results she proceeded to drop her representation of my case with the court. She never took a written note at any of our several meetings in person in her office. I had to hire another competent attorney who handled my divorce the correct way and in a timely manner! Near the end of our relationship she asked me for more money. I have documentation.

I went through them for worker’s compensation after settlement of only 5,000 I finally got to independent Dr and way from the worker’s compensation Drs to learn I have now osteoarthritis in my injured hand and I have to have a MUA on my shoulder that they wouldn’t get added on to my claim so in long term I am still suffering from all this 18 months later so please find another attorney that will literally fight for what’s right

I wish I had researched him before I hired him. He didn’t show up for not one of my court days. Instead he sent an inexperienced attorney to represent me to no avail. They couldn’t even serve to plaintiff, but instead asked me to tell the person that they had court. He charges these outrages fees for any form of contact. If you call him, it’s a fee; if you email him, it’s a fee. Highway robbery. If you’re looking for someone to represent you, look elsewhere.

I was told by several people that I needed to hire Bryan for my divorce case. I know why now! As soon as he got in my case, my ex-husband started backing down. All the threats stopped and we were able to get my case over very quickly. I have no doubt it was because of Bryan's great reputation of being the best divorce lawyer in town!! I am out of a bad marriage in a great way! Recommend him to anyone who wants the best!

Bryan comes Highly recommended from other attorneys that i interviewed before i made my choice. However I have been nothing but disappointed from his lack of professionalism and performance. His handling of my divorce has been nothing short of his practice laughing all the way to the bank. He talks a big talk but cowers to other attorneys making himself look weak and nonconfrontational. The review from Feb 27 2015 nails it! You get little or no response from phone calls and emails but beware you will be billed relentlessly for them!
I am also very suspicious of the many positive reviews on AVVO for Bryan. He obviously spends time answering questions on here and it should be of concern that several positive reviews happen on the same day he has posted legal help. How convenient.

If I could rate 0, I would..Very unprofessional and disrespectful. He represented my husband against me. He purposely embarrassed me asking why do I have papers if I couldn't read them. My inability to read had nothing to do with the question at hand. He just knew I have a disability and tried using it in court which the judge frowned upon. Embarrassing someone is not professional. He is arrogant and makes it clear he thinks he is better than others. Respect is key, everybody has flaws. I do not recommend him as a lawyer. Our case is ongoing since 2018 and we haven't gotten nowhere in Blount cnty. I wouldn't recommend him.

This firm allowed the oppositions firm to run the show. So much was left out of the brutality our family went through. The bulling from his attorney and himself won everything. The ex husband got primary custody of their 7 year old daughter. All the equity in their home. And our rights are very limited while his breaking of rules is allowed since we cannot afford an attorney to fight this through the courts after a $80,000 attorney fees. The sad part is the child lost. The Court let the child down and was sucked in by a narcissist and a Psychopath. You need someone who will work harder than this firm.

This woman is all about getting your money. She never helped me get child support or anything else. So she took my 10k and ran! She made my situation worse! I regret ever hiring this firm. Now I’m without a lawyer and can’t afford another one. I’ll be at my mediation alone.

Ms. Banks was my attorney starting in January 2011 and represented me for several years from that point, through more than one custody battle. My case was extremely complicated and convoluted. Page definitely did her homework and took all the extra steps to fight my case. She even came in and watched some public cases that could have affected my case, in order to be fully prepared to fight for me. It was a long, hard battle, but we came out on top in the end, and Page played a vital role in that. I 10/10 recommend her as an attorney.
