We utilized Mr. Burdett over the course of 4 years after having had a bad experience with another lawyer. He is well versed in the law but is also well respected by his peers and the judges, putting him in a position to negotiate or take a stand as needed. He is very effective at litigating and retains details as needed to react on his feet to counter arguments. That being said, he does not waste time or money on frivolous motions and billing. He tries to find the most effective way to solve the problem at hand and works at it efficiently. I highly recommend him, especially in cases that involve children and that may be more complex.

When I first contacted the firm of Freed, Marcroft, I was really in a bad place emotionally. Both Kristen and Robin were 'present and empathic' right from the get-go. Kristen was also very realistic with me and encouraged me to try mediation if at all possible. I came through this difficult process feeling whole and respected knowing that Kristen and everyone at the firm 'had my back'.

Appoximately one year ago my wife of almost 27 years asked to end our marriage. A few days later we agree to get a divorce. A close business associate gave me a referral to the law firm of Freed/Marcroft in Hartford on Main Street. Our first meeting was in early August 2014 and our divorce proceedings ended just before Christmas of 2014 with the guidance of Lawyers Meghan Freed and Kristen Marcroft. During a lengthy initial meeting between all parties they suggested we take a collaborative approach to completing our divorce. In this approach the attorneys help/guide the two parties involved to come to agreement on a couple dozen issues that will ultimately make up the divorce agreement that would be acceptable to the courts. They took a great deal of time to understand our years of marriage, and how each person fit into the marriage and how each person viewed the end of the marriage. At every meeting and with every phone call or email they would stress that every decision made would have to be very fair for each party. They constantly sought to educate on each topic, and remind each party of the attorney's role in this type of divorce process. Kristen and Meghan handled the stickiest problems and contentious points with great expertise and finesse. They showed the utmost compassion and a caring attitude to both parties, which is surely not the case in most proceedings. By having two lawyers helping through the process, you get two distinct skillset and two checkers. That was most useful in overcoming some of the sticky situations that arise in the divorce process. Kristen and Meghan move us through the entire process on a schedule they set up based upon our wishes and parameters. True to their word and nature they took us through that horrible day in court with compassion and understanding. They were able to interject themselves into the proceedings where many other of their contemporaries might not bother, which made our day easier. Freed/Marcroft handled all our paperwork and filings under the watchful eye of Robin, the practice manager. Phone calls were returned within a sort of reasonable time, with emails and texts returned much quicker. I'm over fifty and still like voice. Email does seem to be the preferred method of communication. Kristen and Meghan were very upfront about how they get paid, what options for payment were available to us and ultimately what they felt would be the most cost efficient way to proceed. Let me stress that the collaborative approach to divorce is not for everyone!! Kristen and Meghan will tell you as much right up front. If you want a team to help end a an important part of your life in a dignified way that is fair to all you should highly consider using Kristen Marcroft and Meghan Freed. Phil, Avon Ct

Claire represented me in my divorce. Claire defended me when my ex decided to file a motion to reduce his alimony payments. It was not easy but Claire was able show that my ex was voluntarily lowering his income just to pay me less and won the hearing. Let me put it this way. Tracey interviewed one witness for over 90 minutes, and the other side wanted to settle. Her knowledge of my case went back 15 years, & she found all the evidence and history of the other party with incredible research! Tracey's assistant Brooke was also an incredible researcher, and they were both always available, 7 days a week if I had to reach them with new important information or concerns. She told me to let her worry about my case so I could relax as much as possible under these difficult circumstances. I will always recommend Tracey as an attorney, and I will always praise her performance on how she helped me with great generosity.

Attorney Ron Scott is an excellent lawyer. He represented me (pro-Bono) in a divorce lawsuit that was embroiled in a tedious custody & child support gridlock, with international jurisdiction complications. In all, and throughout the unnecessary 2.5 years lengthiness that included lawsuits in family courts and the higher court of Appeal, he provided top notch representation by brilliantly assessing facts and impeccably arguing to achieve victory, in multiple motions and hearings. Attorney Scott first represented me in 2009 in a divorce and did a thorough and professional job. I had an out of state custody case but needed clarification and a legal document from a CT judge regarding jurisdiction. I called on Attorney Ron Scott. He took my call right away, worked miracles to get exactly what I needed and in record time! It might have been a small request compared to the large cases he handles but his timely facilitation of the legal paperwork was far from small. I wasn't going to move forward without it. I was very impressed that he even took my call, returned all my calls quickly and expeditiously handled my requests! I contacted the law firm of Maya Murphy after another attorney had already initiated my divorce. What should have been a straightforward divorce (married 5 years, no kids, all assets/debt kept separately and listed in our individual names, both of us employed in well paying jobs with benefits) was turning into anything but straightforward. I really wanted to end my marriage as amicably as possible without a long drawn-out divorce and trial. I had some upcoming court dates and was unable to get any meaningful information from my first attorney about what was expected. When I walked into Maya Murphy, I was very concerned that my divorce was going to be long and costly. As soon as I walked into the offices of Maya Murphy and spoke with Ephraim Fink (EJ) and his colleagues, I felt completely relieved and confident in my decision to switch law firms. EJ got up to speed very quickly on my case and understood the issues. He was professional, thorough, and knew exactly how to proceed. I always felt that EJ was looking out for my best interests. I retained EJ just 3 months before a trial date for a high conflict divorce and custody battle. I enjoyed working with Tommy. He picked up my case from an associate and quickly came up to speed. He did critical research which in the end completely derailed bogus counterclaims made by the defendant. He moved the process along at a steady pace and brought it to successful closure. He answered all of my questions and explain things to me in clear, easy to understand terms. He also leveraged his firms' resources well and was mindful of fees and expenses. I would use him again.

Although I was quite shocked, unprepared and uninformed about the divorce process Howard made sure I knew everything pertinent and nothing more. He did not offer a sympathetic ear, joining with me in my misery, he just went straight to work to get me the best settlement possible, PERIOD! I was anxious and on many occasions temperamental but Howard and his assistant never once gave up on me. If you are looking for sympathy this is not the place to be, if you are looking for a hard fought and kick ass settlement this IS THE PLACE TO BE. Paige represented us in a year long custody/ relocation case involving my daughter. She called very often to keep us up on the latest news etc. There was also never a time where I couldn't get a hold of her ( even after hours ). Attorney Ramos was incredibly professional and knowledgeable during my divorce. she wasnt about getting nasty and screwing iver the opponent and she appreciated that all i wanted was a fair resolution. I also didnt feel as though i was ripped off as some people feel after dealing with lawyers. Overall i def made the best decision going with Krystal.

My divorce was difficult and emotional. We have children and my former wife was very difficult to deal with. Eric and his team helped me to make sure i made sound decisions for my children and me and my former spouse. I never felt they were trying to just get fees out of me. I felt they were there to help me and even to give me tough advice if i needed it. Even 7 years after the final legal settlement, Eric continues to counsel me when i need him. I have recommended Eric and his team to personal friends also having to go through a divorce and would not hesitate to do it again.
