David came in as my public defender guns blazing as I was charged maliciously with 14 crimes including 3 felonies. I was charged with threatening one of the officers who assaulted me while he arrested me for calling him out on an inappropriate sexual relationship with an underage girl. David was very proud of himself for getting me out of jail and on home detention pending trial.
I was adamant about going to trial as a person who was getting offered to plead guilty to just 3 of the 14 charges including just one of the 3 felonies which would be dropped to a misdemeanor after I completed my probation. He promised that I would walk out of court free and instead did the max of what I plead for on my first felony charge and 2 c misdemeanors CONSECUTIVELY. This was more than twice what I had served already after I was guaranteed to leave the courthouse a free man after 8 months of house arrest this day.
In my opinion David was much too chummy with the prosecution Dave Rooda (I won’t review Mr. Rooda as I refuse to give him one star), fist bumping him as he walked into the courtroom to destroy my character. David refused to listen to me when I told him I wanted to go to trial and while he was free to advise me me on that it was my final decision which he ignored every chance he had. I’m sure that was a result of his getting paid equally for me pleading guilty and the work he was facing for a trial on 14 charges. I am not sure if he knows that the same ethics applied and that lazy behavior took over a year off my life and destroyed my family.

I used the law office of Lacey LLC, in 2014 it's been awhile but I have a right to my review Ms Lacey was a terrible lawyer for me if I didn't speak up for myself I would have been in jail and the judge never got mad I spoke out several times at different hearings he knew she wasn't doing a good job for me or the judge would have told me to shut up and he never did, I should have never hired a female attorney me being a male, so men do not hire this woman for your divorce because I felt she was working for my ex wife, the only time she had objections is when I threw a fit in court she wasn't doing a job again the judge never said anything to me, Ms Lacey look like a hillbilly in court wearing culottes every single hearing which lasted 3 (+) years and I was wearing a suit extremely unprofessional and disrespectful towards me when I complained she was doing a terrible job for me , I wish I could have fired her but I couldn't

The office assistants are nice and friendly, known nothing about all the lawyers here but I hired Mark Thoma in 2020, after the conclusion of my case which was March this year. I have been calling and calling, leaving message after message and as of today no call back. Since the first day of hire I've been doomed because he was not worth the hire "NOT ENOUGH PRESSURE APPLIED" I regret wasting my time and money with this firm. If you are looking for full representation from start to finish, alone with the charge reduction this is not the best route. I would have done better getting a lawyer still training in school. So now I only have a few options let me see where they can get me.

Called and was in the middle of describing our need for a visitation agreement, the person who answered the phone was very rude interrupted me midstream told me she’d be right back clicked over while I was still talking. If that’s the way it starts how the heck is it going to end? I hung up the phone and moved on. Person answering the phone should get a few pointers on courtesy to customers.

They do things you express you don't want to do (that can harm your case), as lawyer's they should be thinking of the long term and not the short term win.. They don't listen to you and encourage an outcome that best suites them. They don't budget. They spend the highest amount of money on things that you may pay the price for in the end.

Melissa Avery is consistently ranked as one of the top 50 lawyers in Indiana. That and her extensive experience in family law (17 years) is what led me to hire her to handle my child support case. Several things impressed me about Melissa during her handling of my case. First, she won every point of my case against my ex-husband. Her organized arguments and concise presentation of my case and supporting documents led the judge to find in my favor across the board. This obviously benefited me financially and emotionally. Second, she listened to me throughout the case and let me be a part of it. She answered my questions and always responded to me quickly by email and phone. Third, she was cost conscious and was very vigilant about keeping the expense of my case to a minimum. So I have to say this. Bart keeps his word and he’s honestly turned into a lawyer that I feel like is about as smooth as it gets. He is timely and in my opinion top tier as a lawyer and as a person. He’s given me advice before. And just today got my license back for me. To put this into perspective the judge told me I’ve had 48 yes FOURTY EIGHT suspensions And I’m on a habitual 10 year ban. He got it back with pretty much no conditions. Truly a miracle. One thing I like the most about Bart is that he just tells you like it is. I’ve been in some hot water before and he’s let me know that. But he always is right there in the trenches with you. Always keeping you informed. He doesn’t leave you hanging, you know the feeling being in the jumpsuit, sitting handcuffed in the seats looking around for your lawyer and not seeing him? Bart is always there! Every letter or receipt from him I always got next day. His office keeps you in the loop almost even too much. And anybody thinking this review is just so good that it has to be made up. Called to see about getting help and unless your an immigration case they aren't accepting new cases. To me that's discrimination against our country. This is getting ridiculous. My child has been made so uncomfortable by his dad that he hasn't talked to or seen him in almost a yr, and has told me that if he does see him he wants someone else there because his dad makes him uncomfortable in a sexual personal way. And because we aren't immigration these people won't even hear our case or help. Seriously.

Worst definition of professionalism I have ever seen in my entire life. This so called "attorney" had not contacted me over 2 months before my court date for my children. Unfortunately I trusted his ethics and work that he had everything taken care of and that was a HUGE mistake. I finally decided to contact him a week before my court date to find out that he decided he was not "mentally and medically " prepared to take family court style cases leaving me to push this court date back even further than it already had been. If you are relying on this man, think again . It may be the worst mistake you ever made as well . He obviously can't handle life nor a business. Poorest excuse for an attorney I have ever seen .

I went through many different phone calls trying to find an attorney for a hearing that was coming up in a few days- I started calling as soon as I got the "Notice to Appear". He was quick to get the information needed, get things submitted, and get the PO dismissed...all without me even having to say a word in court (though I did attend the hearing). I didn't even have to give the evidence we had either. He was a blessing and I am keeping his number for if, God forbid, I need an attorney again.

Scheduled consultation, rearranged work schedule for that appointment. Never received a call for my telephone appt nor did I receive a call or email ahead of time to let me know he was running late or needed to reschedule. If you’re tight on time like most are, better to find someone else who values others’ time.

Since the first day of hire I've been doomed because he was not worth the hire "NOT ENOUGH PRESSURE APPLIED" I regret wasting my time and money with this firm. If you are looking for full representation from start to finish, alone with the charge reduction this is not the best route. I would have done better getting a lawyer still training in school. Called and was in the middle of describing our need for a visitation agreement, the person who answered the phone was very rude interrupted me midstream told me she’d be right back clicked over while I was still talking. If that’s the way it starts how the heck is it going to end? I hung up the phone and moved on. Person answering the phone should get a few pointers on courtesy to customers.
