I hired Rich Vanderslice in Nov. 21 to do an "easy" subdivision of my property in S Philadelphia for a possible pending sale. Rich told me that it would be about 4 to 5 months and gave me an estimated cost of around $3500 to $4500. After about 4 months I reached out to Rich for an update and exactly nothing was even started at that point and he was very hard to get a return call back from. Finally In April 22' he got the ball rolling hired the surveyor company and finished the survey and then unexpectedly told me that I have to hire an expeditor to move it ahead $3500 on top of the $3500 I had already given him, always like pulling teeth trying to get a callback from him. The expeditor submitted the file and zoning approved a permit in Sept 21 and off to the OPA it went. After finally talking to Mr Vanderslice he kept telling me that the subdivision is done as soon as OPA gets finished...A few months went by and nothing and he was beating around the bush saying that the expeditor (he hired at my expense) wasn't returning his calls. I then lost the pending sale...I couldn't get any solid answers or information from this guy and finally came to the conclusion that he had no idea what he was doing and promptly fired him...
The only thing I can say in Rick's defense, is after hiring a new attorney he did try and connect the attorney and the expeditor, but the expeditor, Baker and Co. refused to do it...So after 2 years of aggravation, Im out about $9100 and still haven't gotten my subdivision as of yet...

However, they will now not releases the money according to the settlement Award and will not cooperate in distributing the funds. I requested Jennifer's services to help me respond to a divorce proceeding and determine jurisdiction for a case. You expect a basic level of client service form any attorney, but this was severely missing from Ms. Dumin. I never received a briefing anytime before our court date. She was not readily available over email, as I had to send multiple follow ups. She came to court wholly unprepared and very flustered. She could not even answer basic questions on my behalf leaving me stranded and embarrassed. I understand that you are the legal expert but your clients are not idiots and it is your duty to keep them informed and step up as a professional. This was a disgusting experience through and through. I am surprised she is not immediately disbarred. The firm also had the nerve to try and charge me full price for the judge appearance knowing that I did not receive a proper deposition. I had to advocate for decreased charges. Ms Dumin, please don't practice law ever again, or work on your client service especially with "diverse" clients. We're not all stupid and you are not this god that is above approach. Humble yourself.

Being a professional myself, I did not take being advised so directly by Ms. Zilbering very well at first. But I can say for all her directness, all her advice was spot on. She is an attorney, and a good one, before during and after trial she was correct on all accounts and the judge said "not guilty" and that is all that counts so leave your ego at the door it wont help.

I hired emily in 2009 in a drug case in berks county, she was excellent I was looking at a state sentence, but through her motions and arguments at sentencing I ended up with a county sentence. Very aggressive lawyer.
I recently found myself arrested again federally on another drug charge, I hired emily again and with her suppression motions and talking with the prosecutor and skills at sentencing I was sentenced below the guidelines, very please with her work, always there when I had questions. CAN'T GO WRONG HIRING EMILY.

James Cushing was the first lawyer that I saw for my divorce and after discussing my situation I was told that I was in a strong position and to sue for custody, support and divorce at the same time. After paying my retainer of $1,800.00 on Sept 18th. This office did not submit my paperwork to the courts until 2 months later Nov. Everytime I called to check on the status, I was billed. It took two months for them to check on the status! He reviewed none of the paperwork prior to the custody hearing for support and was completely unprepared in that he had to be told by the opposing lawyer what form to file! Do not hire this lawyer or this firm. Their only goal is to charge fees for calls and court appearances, not for professional advice, expert negotiation or proper paper work submission. You would be better served looking up the paperwork and old case law and doing it yourself.

I was referred to James by my company's legal insurance plan (ARAG) for a case regarding the division of property, which in my case was a family pet. It was quite emotional for me, and the first legal issue I really had to deal with. I was quite worried about the process at first, but James explained the steps of the legal proceeded, responded to legal requirements quickly and was detail oriented. I hired Charlie at $700/hour to represent me in a high-conflict, high-net-worth divorce, and I cannot recommend him based on my experience. While highly regarded as a skilled litigator by peers and judges, Charlie failed to deliver in my case. Instead of advocating for my rights, he repeatedly advised me to concede to opposing counsel’s (Cheryl Young) demands, which appeared to be influenced by personal distractions and a lack of focus on my case.
I specifically hired Charlie to challenge a post-nuptial agreement I was coerced into signing under duress years earlier. Despite the agreement’s significant financial implications—over $10 million—he discouraged me, claiming it was ironclad and not worth the cost or effort to contest. When I questioned the logic of signing a stipulation agreement waiving my right to challenge the post-nup, especially without securing any concessions, Charlie had no satisfactory explanation. Beaten down by the process, my ex-wife, and her counsel, I reluctantly signed it, only to later learn from my new attorney that I should never have agreed to the stipulation in the first place. I felt misled, misrepresented, and unsupported.
Charlie’s lack of availability and communication compounded these issues. When I pushed back on his advice, he disclosed he was dealing with serious personal matters, including caring for a sick spouse and traveling extensively for his son’s lacrosse activities. While I empathize with his situation, he failed to notify me or ensure proper coverage of my case, leaving me feeling abandoned during one of the most difficult times of my life.
Adding to my frustration, Charlie demonstrated limited knowledge in key areas of family law, mental health, and addiction. He mishandled the use of a Soberlink breathalyzer in my case, tethering me to my abusive ex-wife and ignoring established best practices in addiction and family law. This decision exacerbated my PTSD and caused further emotional harm to me and my children. My alcohol dependency—minor and without legal or criminal complications—was disclosed in good faith, but Charlie’s poor handling of the situation made matters worse.
Finally, after I fired Charlie and hired a new attorney, he attempted to use my new counsel as a go-between to collect his outstanding invoice, which I felt interfered with her ability to represent me without bias. Ultimately, he waived most of the remaining balance after I wrote him a formal letter expressing my dissatisfaction with his representation and his inappropriate interference.
Divorce is a deeply stressful and complex process. The family law system is notoriously ill-equipped to address the mental health and emotional toll it takes on families, especially children. Clients deserve attorneys who are transparent, diligent, and fully engaged. Unfortunately, Charlie’s lack of focus, poor judgment, and inadequate representation fell far short of these standards. If you are navigating a high-stakes divorce, I strongly recommend seeking alternative counsel.

Divorce isn't a fun process, but Charlie Meyer's knowledge and approach to a difficult situation made it a little easier. Unlike other attorneys I consulted, he didn't tell me what I wanted to hear but instead what was a fair and likely outcome (even if it wasn't 100% in my favor). He has a very patient, encouraging, and casual manner that put me at ease. Charlie always got back to me even in my most hysterical moments, often early in the morning, often on weekends. I believe he has a good sense of personalities as well-- understanding how much information a client needs and wants and knowing, too, when to keep some of the unimportant nonsense quiet. Needless to say he has extensive knowledge of the laws in quite a few counties in and outside Philadelphia, and he seems to have a good rapport with lawyers/ masters/ judges in a courtroom setting.
If you're looking for a fair and balanced approach to your case--and for someone to put a lot of fight and effort into getting you what you deserve-- Charlie is a good choice.

This lawyer Is unreliable and that's just one of the things he is . John capaldi blocked me because I got him assigned by the court and been trying to contact him for months now to meet up . John does not even text me back or pick up the phone . Last time he picked up the phone was the day of court meanwhile I was contacting him endlessly for him to hear me out . I didn't know what to bring to court so that's why I was trying to contact him for him to say on the day of court he don't believe me that the hospital put the drugs in me ( I now got the proper documentation that proves they did ) and he still will not meet up to see what he's representing and he likes to call you a liar about the things that happened to you but he also doesn't want to help you in anyways or give advice on how to obtain anything or what to do in regards to your case . He wants to blame me for him not answering me for months but anyone that has a losey lawyer that doesn't do anything or even text back would be very upset to . I told him about unsupervised and how I heard if I get this home assessment that I could have unsupervised he told me to get the home assessment call him back when it passed and he would petioned for unsupervised as soon as I did that the next week and got a hold of him he changed everything he said and said there was nothing we could do til next court my court date was suppose to be in March but it got changed with no notice to April . This lawyer still hasn't had the courtesy to tell me it has been changed yet . He argues about the things your doing correctly and doesn't want to give you credit for it instead he will ruin your case because he walks in knowing nothing . He's horrible . Hell use the excuse he's super busy but I've sent texts weekly multiple times over a month and he doesn't want to reply with anything rather he's getting mad at me and blocks me because I'm coming to him for some advice and the proof the hospital did that . He's not good at what he does and that's the honest truth cause he's been doing it over twenty years and still in the public defender association . I'm going to fire him next time in court because he won't dismiss his self from this case and I even told him if your to busy and can't handle my case withdrawal but he won't but he also won't work with me at all . I've tried . This is the worst situation ever I tried to tell him about the corrupt case worker he doubted me called me a liar then in February she got fired . I'm beginning to think he's like a body double he's just there to make it look good but he's actually not good at all and let the caseworker that got fired play me like something I was not . I been trying to work with him but he makes it hard and he makes it harder to obtain my child back with his representation it would probably work better if I didn't have him and just myself . I need another lawyer this one's a joke .

Mr. Grady was great, informative, and honest in his discussions as to whether representation and pursuing a legal filing is the best way forward at this time. He explained clearly and patiently why a court case even if successful may not realistically achieve my goals and he was open to discussing other avenues for remedy.
I plan on bringing another matter to him for his evaluation and trust his integrity given how open he was to discussing the reasons some cases simply are logistically losing propositions, not just saying to drop it or ghosting after getting a basic outline.
