After being denied bond and told by every attorney in the commonwealth it was impossible, Ms. McClenney pulled off the impossible and got the court to grant me a fair bond. She was very attentive and responsive to my every concern about the case. She was knowledgeable about the laws applicable to my case and was familiar with all the players in the court process. After going through a 2 year custody battle with my ex-husband, 3 continuances and still no court date, I hired Ms. McClenney and she got me a court date quickly. The day of court, Ms. McClenney appeared ready and well prepared to fight for me. After it was over I was in the court room in tears because I could not believe that I finally got my day in court and a court order granting me sole custody of my daughter! I hired Anne for my divorce. She helped me straighten out some basics after my ex claimed I abandoned him with a signed, notarized agreement in hand before I walked out. She made the divorce process as quick and painless as his foot dragging would allow and helped me solidify the modest concessions I asked for with ease. When it came to a nasty 4 year custody battle, I didn't think I could afford her and I worked with another attorney who made a complete mess of my case and lost some things I will never be able to reverse. After a significant loss, I decided I would do whatever it took and reached out to Anne again. She was amazing from our first conversation. She listened where the other attorney dismissed. She never blamed me or questioned my motives or actions with judgment, but from a genuine desire to understand so she could help the way I wanted and needed (within the confines of the law, obviously). She set realistic expectations without being a downer and she has always been easy to talk to when needed or quick to have someone on her team respond. She's an adept negotiator that never made me feel like I was giving miles for inches (like with the previous attorney). Anne doesn't victim blame or shame and never put herself on a pedestal where I thought she had no idea what I was thinking, feeling, or going through. She never ignored me before trials, always sitting with and talking with me beforehand. She helped me feel prepared and well equipped and didn't hesitate to highlight what I was already doing well while gently providing guidance where I needed to strengthen my case. Anne is amazing and I would highly recommend her, particularly for anyone with divorce and family issues. I felt like she was on my side without being blindly loyal to me so that she could remain objective AND supportive in a way that no previous attorney had. Obtained attorney Casrleberry's services for a prenuptial agreement. I was able to quickly schedule an appointment with her and went to her office and gave her all the pertinent documents. Two days later my agreement was ready to be signed, this process could not of been more simple and easy. I would highly recommend her for anyone who is considering a prenuptial agreement. We were able to get this done just the week before the wedding and everything went very smooth really I highly recommend her.

Jennifer Oram-Smith is one of the most delightful and personable people I have ever had the privilege of working with. Even though, what put me in the position of having to hire a lawyer in the first place was not a good thing.... Jennifer's positive attitude and fearless fighting for my case helped make my experience that much better.
When you search for a lawyer, you often look for credentials - experience - size of the firm etc.... but what often isn't described is how diligent they are with their clients and their cases.
Jennifer was so tireless in her efforts to ensure I got what I was looking for, that each time I sent her an email she was quick to respond that very same day. Communication was key for me as I live in California and needed representation in Virginia.
My case was a complex one, with ALOT of history and paperwork to go through, and given the distance and how often I was able to actually meet with Jennifer in person - I can say I am very impressed with the way she conducts business.
As far as price goes, it should be no surprise to anyone that hiring a lawyer can be expensive (depending on your case) and you get what you pay for. I made that mistake the first time I hired a lawyer a few years ago and all I walked away with was debt and little to show for it. Jennifer is EXTREMELY fair in her pricing... in fact... I think she may be underpriced as I believe that her level of commitment is valued at so much more. And because of Jennifer's meticulous work and what felt like boundless knowledge of the judicial system, I was able to walk away from court with so much more than I had started with.
I would recommend Jennifer to anyone seeking legal help or even just legal advice.

I called to inquire if I could be represented by a lawyer here as someone who is no longer a resident of Virginia. They told me it would be a $300 fee to get a yes or no answer to that...
So basically I would pay $300 just to potentially hear,
"No, we cannot represent you if you're not a resident of Virginia."
It takes about 30 seconds to tell someone no.
If the answer was yes, then sure, I understand paying for a consultation...but if the answer is no then what are they possibly going to tell me that is worth $300? That I should brush my teeth every day and wear nice clothing in court in my home state?

There are not enough word to describe Mrs. Amick. When I met Regina, she was my second consult. The first attorney didn't feel right. I spent an hour with Regina and it was that hour that changed my entire mind set about my divorce. Without going into the details of my divorce, I needed an attorney who would fight for me no matter what. I needed someone to hear my side of what happened, to be fair as to what was due to me based on the time of my marriage and not an attorney who was going to hurry the process along to move on to someone new. Regina made me feel like I was her only client. I never had any problem with her reaching out to me or communicating back.
