We came here to take passport pictures @11:00am, and there was only one associate working. She told us she’d help in a couple minutes and told us to stand on the side and proceeded to help 4 people after us. about 15 minutes go by then she lets us know she can only take the picture but we’d have to come back to pick it up, we also let her know that we had an appointment and needed the pictures done ASAP. She should’ve let us know that she couldn’t help us the first time or let us know that it would take longer than the few minutes she told us. So unprofessional and wasted our time. We always go to this location because they take 10 minutes max to help us out. This store and associate need to do better.

Been my attorney for a number of years and suffers from dementia etc. He needs to retire. Speaks to me as though I am a small child. Never takes any notes nor can he retain anything I share with him. Works from home and has NO STAFF WHATSOEVER, not a sole that you can call besides himself and NEVER returns calls. Left 23 messages for him but took over 2 months to hear back. He needs to be barred from practicing law. Possibly your worst nightmare of an attorney.

He was appointed to represent me before there was a PD office in Arlington. Called him every single day for two months while I was in jail. Never accepted my call. Never came to see me until the night before my trial. For two months prior to sentencing I called every week. Wrote several letters. Mr. Dennis never responded nor did what I asked in the letters. At sentencing I received ten times my sentencing guidelines. A 25 year active prison sentence. Were it not for my persistence, hard work, and the help of a quality post conviction attorney I would still be in prison. It took me 16 1/2 year to earn a pardon from Governor Northam. Had Mr Dennis done his job with a modicum of professionalism I would likely have been home over a decade ago. I wouldn’t even ask him to defend me in traffic court much less if years of my life were in the balance.

He was able to handle both of their cases with great results. I hope their is no need for legal representation in the future but in the event that anyone in this family does need a lawyer, Attorney Harry Dennis will be the only one for us!

No matter what the case I know he will do his BEST. I just had 2 federal charges, which were 2 felonies. He had one completely dismissed and the other which was dropped down to a misdemeanor, and unsupervised probation. I couldn't ask for anything better when I was looking at 1 year minimum for one of my charges and 10 years on another charge. Please do your research, and if you are looking for someone is 100% straight forward with you and will let you know right off the bat what his suggestion is, I would go with Jason Dunn. He definitely helped me out more than I could ever ask for! He's very professional and I can bet you he would give you your best deal in the court of law. Good Luck!!!

My company hired Mr. Dunn to handle a time sensitive business transaction, all of the communications were with his paralegal. Each time I called regarding the status of my petition I was told that Mr. Dunn was handling a Federal case and was unavailable. The only communication I received directly from Mr. Dunn was an email stating that he was terminating his engagement. In our industry petitions are usually filed with 24-72 hours, it took his office nearly a month to file a petition, once a petition was filed the petition included several careless mistakes. When I asked his paralegal about the mistakes she would not respond. My calls to Mr. Dunn went unanswered, when I emailed him letting him know that I am about to lose the customer and incur damages due to the delay he let me know that I should find another attorney. He also said that I did not provide sufficient information regarding a change to a Virginia statute, when I asked what exact information I did not provide he would not answer.

This Lawyer is nothing short of a complete inept lawyer. Not only did he put me on the stand to defend myself against a jury on a DUI charge. He asked me no questions involved with the case, just my name, profession etc and closed with allowing the DA to rip me apart with questions that were clear hearsay and opinions with no objections whatsoever. Seriously - stay away! I paid him and he got the money as a pd. HE EVEN FAILED TO FILE THE APPEAL IN TIME as requested while i was locked up.

I was being charged with PWID Sch I/II Drug in Fairfax and Prince William for a DUI and Mr Courtnall got my charges in Fairfax dismissed and my DWI was amended from DWI to Wreckless driving and I was extremely happy because I did not lose my job,. Did I mention I was arrested over the weekend and he filed a bond motion and I was released that Monday what an awesome Attorney. My aunt referred me to him as he also helped her with a Juvenile Case in July where here charges were dismissed as well . Extremely busy but very knowledgeable and trustworthy. I recommend him to all my friends and family who are being charged in Criminal or Traffic Court in Both State and Federal Courts in Northern VA and he also goes out as far as Richmond and Roanoke.

I would recommended Mr Courtnall b/c he had helped my Uncle with a Federal Case that consisted of series of Robberies where my Uncle was accused of being a leader of a "violent" hispanic gang which he was not. We hired him 1 day (that Friday and Court MONDAY) before my Uncle was set for a Jury Trial and Mr Courtnall is a busy man but his Office Manager and other Assistants helped us throughout the whole process even accommodating us on a Saturday & Sunday although they are closed on weekends. My uncle was convicted of Conspiracy and all the robberies and gun charges were dropped. He was given a 5 years sentence and we are happy as his co-def all got 35+ Years ....... He also helped my friends Uncle win a Jury verdict to dismiss Murder Charge and lower it to Voluntary Manslaughter and he only got 1 years ... I love his services and his Office like I said Busy but they do have prompt service and Mr Courtnall has good knowledge of Criminal and Traffic cases both State and Federal ........ We even were given his personal cell number and email and kept in touch regularly ...He's as good if not better then Whitestone and Associates and very very reasonable prices

I hired him for a family member, who went to jail because of his incomepetence. Mr. Lewis: 1. Always have different excuses for cannot present for the court: Visiting people in the jail, Hanover county circuit court, Henrico county circuit court, needs to lock the office, etc... 2. Always lethargic: Not sure was caused by sleep apnea or sth, every time he shows up in court, he will find time to take a nap, this was not professional at all. 3. Never prepare for the case: He will forget everything you told him literally the next day, and he will always bring an empty folder to your court date, pretending take few notes on his "Yellow letter sheets", each time he will bring new blank paper, never combined the notes. 4.Deceptive to his clients, him and his paralegal Raman Kneep tried their best to cover the story that Matt Pinsker was incarcerated for felony sexually assaulted female intern, this was a direct violation of Bar Association code and ethics. 5. Never admitted that he doesn't know anything: He will do his best to pretend everything is under control, and he will back asking you what had happened to cover his nonsense. 6. Procrastination: A single request to him will always takes couple weeks to reply. 7. Not physically fit as a lawyer: Always be stuttered and precarious for how to answer the questions, almost every directions he gave to the clients were detrimental to their fates, he will keep f**k you up until your life is screwed up by the court.

I’m writing this review to help others save money and not waste their time and jeopardize their court cases. Hiring Pinsker Law was the worst decision I ever made. I’d give negative stars if I could. Initially Matt was eager to take my case so I hired him, as he had great reviews. However, soon after I had paid and hired him another lawyer who is well known called me back and warned me that something wasn’t right. As soon as I googled him some charges came up. Matt reassured me that his case was dismissed and everything was fine. So, I begin working with him. Although, he was representing me I wasn’t exactly happy with his service. He just didn’t seem that interested in my case nor did he have the zeal or interests that he had when I first hired him. When it was time to go to court, Matt was a no show. I later found out by his back up lawyer that he had been sent to jail. Again, matt had told me that his case against him was dismissed and he was ok. So that was warning sign number 1. I should’ve requested a refund and hired a new attorney at this point. However, mr. Charles lewis said he’d take over my case in Matt’s place. This was the worst mistake I’ve ever made in my life. Even with all of his credentials and years of experience, Mr. Lewis seemed like newbie and fish out of water when it came to my case. Twice he was unprepared for my case and each time asked for an extension. After the first time I should’ve hired a different lawyer. This was like the 2nd mistake I made. Mr. Lewis made a habit of arriving late to all of my court appearances. At the last court case, he came over an hour late and had the judge and bailiff upset. Not only was he late, but also unprepared per usual. I was pissed!!! He didn’t defend me like we talked about over the phone. It’s like his mind went blank when it was time to represent me. I’m pretty sure a 1st year law student could’ve have defended me better than him. Not only was I found guilty, but I wasted thousands of dollars hiring them. I’ve never heard of pissed poor service like this in my life. I beg of you, please do not make the same mistake I made. I’m writing this to help someone. My experience was nightmarish and like something out of a movie. You will regret it. I’m only writing this because I care about people. You’ve been warned.

Alan helped me with my bank fraud case. It lists it as one of his specialties on his website, but there is something EVERYONE should know, regardless of the area he practices in... Alan Yamamoto is a SETTLEMENT LAWYER, meaning that he will not fight for your behalf, but indeed go the path with the least amount of resistance in order for your case to be settled. If you are trying to fight and battle your way out of your case, Alan is not for you. On too many occasions throughout our entire case, he recommended so many options indicating it would reduce sentence time and it did the complete opposite. For example, he told us to disclose all of the files to the attorney and it backfired on us, only increasing the sentence time. On another example, he told us to accept the terminology by being the 'organizer' of a case in order to reduce sentence time, and now a new law passed and because we indicated we were the 'organizer' the sentence time cannot be reduced. These are just two small examples of other things that he has stated, but the opposite happened. We were too far into the case to switch lawyers so unfortunately we were stuck with Mr. Yamamoto. I WOULD NOT recommend Yamamoto, unless all you want is a settlement lawyer. One last thing to mention is that even at the trial, he WAS NOT PREPARED. His thoughts and phrases were all jumbled and they were not organized at all. This was SUPER FRUSTRATING since we paid tens of thousands of dollars to him and his company and he finishes his poor service with this. Honestly, I felt I could have represented the family member better than he did. I was absolutely appalled. Go find yourself another lawyer.

What a Federal Crime Lawyer Can Do for You

A federal crime lawyer specializes in defending individuals or organizations accused of violating federal laws. These lawyers have experience navigating the complex federal criminal justice system, which includes higher penalties, stricter sentencing guidelines, and a different court system than state-level crimes. Federal crime lawyers defend clients against a wide range of charges, such as drug trafficking, white-collar crimes, fraud, conspiracy, gun violations, and more. They assist in every phase of the legal process, from investigation to trial and appeals, ensuring their clients' rights are protected.

If you’re facing federal criminal charges, a federal crime lawyer can provide the necessary defense and expertise to navigate the complexities of federal law and achieve the best possible outcome.

When Should I Hire a Federal Crime Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a federal crime lawyer in any situation where you are under investigation or have been charged with a federal crime. Key scenarios include:

  • Charged with a federal crime: If you’ve been charged with a federal offense, such as drug trafficking, wire fraud, money laundering, or conspiracy, hiring a federal crime lawyer is essential to ensure your defense is tailored to federal court procedures and laws.
  • Target of a federal investigation: If you are being investigated by federal agencies like the FBI, DEA, ATF, or IRS, it’s crucial to retain a lawyer early on. A lawyer can help you avoid self-incrimination and build a defense strategy to counter the investigation.
  • White-collar crimes: If you’ve been accused of federal white-collar crimes such as securities fraud, embezzlement, or insider trading, a lawyer can help defend you against charges brought by federal prosecutors and regulatory agencies like the SEC.
  • Drug-related charges: If you’re facing federal drug charges, such as possession, distribution, or trafficking of controlled substances, a lawyer can represent you in federal court and negotiate plea deals or challenge the prosecution’s case.
  • Gun-related offenses: If you’ve been charged with federal gun crimes, including illegal possession, trafficking, or using a firearm during a violent crime, a federal crime lawyer can help defend against harsh federal penalties.
  • Immigration-related crimes: Federal charges involving immigration violations, such as human trafficking, smuggling, or illegal re-entry after deportation, require specialized legal knowledge of both federal criminal law and immigration law.
  • Appeals: If you’ve been convicted of a federal crime and are seeking to appeal the conviction or sentence, a federal crime lawyer can assist with the appeals process, focusing on legal errors or issues that may have occurred during the trial.

Hiring a lawyer as soon as you know you are under investigation or charged with a federal crime gives you the best chance of protecting your rights and building a strong defense.

What Does a Federal Crime Lawyer Do?

A federal crime lawyer provides a wide range of legal services to defend individuals and organizations accused of federal crimes. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Defending clients in federal court: Federal crime lawyers represent clients in all stages of federal criminal proceedings, including pre-trial motions, plea negotiations, trials, and sentencing hearings.
  • Building a defense strategy: Lawyers thoroughly investigate the charges, review the prosecution’s evidence, and develop a defense strategy tailored to the unique aspects of federal law and sentencing guidelines.
  • Negotiating plea deals: In some cases, a lawyer may negotiate with federal prosecutors to reduce charges or penalties, potentially avoiding a lengthy trial and reducing sentencing.
  • Handling federal investigations: If you are the subject of a federal investigation, a lawyer will guide you on how to interact with federal agents, respond to subpoenas, and handle potential interrogations, ensuring your rights are not violated.
  • Filing pre-trial motions: Federal crime lawyers can file motions to suppress evidence, dismiss charges, or challenge the legality of the investigation or arrest, aiming to weaken the prosecution’s case before trial.
  • Representing clients in appeals: If you’ve been convicted, a federal crime lawyer can represent you in the appeals process, focusing on legal errors, misconduct, or constitutional issues that may have affected the trial’s outcome.
  • Managing sentencing and post-conviction matters: Lawyers also help clients during the sentencing phase, arguing for leniency or alternatives to imprisonment, and assist with post-conviction matters such as parole or supervised release violations.

How Are Federal Crime Lawyers Paid?

Federal crime lawyers typically charge for their services in various ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the expected time commitment. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: Many federal crime lawyers charge by the hour, with rates typically ranging from $300 to $1,000 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience, the case complexity, and geographic location.
  • Flat fee: For specific services, such as negotiating a plea deal or representing you during the initial stages of a federal investigation, some lawyers offer a flat fee. Flat fees for federal criminal defense cases often range from $5,000 to $25,000, depending on the scope of the work.
  • Retainer: In complex federal cases, a lawyer may require a retainer, which is an upfront payment that covers a portion of the legal work. The lawyer then bills against this retainer as they work on the case. Retainers typically range from $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the case.
  • Payment plans: Some federal crime lawyers may offer payment plans, especially if the case involves extended litigation or lengthy appeals. This can help make legal fees more manageable over time.

It’s crucial to discuss fees with your lawyer upfront to understand the total cost of representation and how payments will be handled throughout the case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Federal Crime Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable federal crime lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and experience:

  • Check their bar status: Verify with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed to practice law and has no disciplinary actions or complaints.
  • Look for federal crime experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in federal criminal defense and have successfully handled cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about their experience with the lawyer.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on federal cases.
  • Check for federal court admissions: Make sure the lawyer is admitted to practice in federal court, as federal criminal cases are handled in federal district courts.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a federal crime lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Information about the charges or investigation: Provide any documents related to the charges against you, such as indictments, subpoenas, or notices of investigation. This helps the lawyer assess the severity of the charges and the potential defense strategy.
  • Details of previous interactions with federal agents: If federal agents have contacted you or conducted searches, provide a detailed account of those interactions, including search warrants, interrogations, or evidence seized.
  • Questions about your case: Prepare a list of questions regarding the legal process, potential outcomes, and how the lawyer plans to defend you.
  • Relevant financial information: If your case involves financial crimes or assets that may be at risk, bring relevant financial records, such as bank statements, business records, or tax returns.
  • Previous legal history: If you have a prior criminal record or have been involved in federal investigations before, bring details about those cases.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your situation more effectively and provide the best possible legal defense for your federal case.
