We hired this firm twice this year, to assist with a house purchase. This firm is in network with the legal plan associated with our employee benefits. I found the whole process very easy. Never have been addressed formally as ‘mister’ so much, and I think I like it. The lawyers and other staff were responsive and competent and patient with our many questions. They worked well with our real estate agent. Why would someone not want to hire a lawyer to help us navigate the biggest purchase of our lives? Five stars.
Review updated 11/2022: We have continued to use this attorney office, this time for estate planning, last will and testament, etc. I have been very happy with them. As a xennial, my generation tends to not use lawyers much, but these folks make it super easy.

As much as a legal intervention is an inherently stressful undertaking, Nelson Boyd made the experience as low-stress as possible. They did this by being good listeners, providing assurances that they were fighting for me, providing prompt and excellent communications, and always doing what they said they would do.
My suit was settled satisfactorily (they worked on contingency) prior to reaching court, which was preferable since it took nearly two years to get to that point-- though not due to any fault of Nelson Boyd. Going to court would likely have taken another six months or longer. My case involved personal injury and I would highly recommend this team to anyone needing this sort of representation -- and probably other issues, as well. At minimum, it will be worth your while to call them to discuss your problem.

Kim really helped out of a rough situation. The buried oil tank on my property (still in use) was found to be leaking and had spread over a large area. I had a very difficult time trying to figure out what to do. The company that tested the soil just tossed me aside to an attorney. The attorney was mostly interested in litigation. I talked to realtors. None of them knew much of anything about soil contamination. I finally found Kim, and she gave me a road map of what to do and I was ultimately able to perform the cleanup and sell the property. It wasn't cheap (it cost me over $70,000), but I don't know what I would have done had I not contacted Kim.

Kim Johannessen was referred to me by a friend who happens to be a very successful attorney himself. A request was posted on Listserve, a Legal Referral directory used by attorneys to post referrals and recommendations, and Johannessen & Associates came up repeatedly.
I remember one attorney responding "This is the one". After speaking with several other attorneys, I knew Kim was the best choice. Not only was Johannessen & Associates recommended by other attorneys, but also by environmental cleanup companies I had contacted.
Working with Kim was the best decision I could have made. I was in a very complex situation with a leaking residential oil tank that involved many parties with no clear path.
