Teller & Associates represented me in a civil case against a former employer in which I received a 6-figure settlement (even after paying Teller and taxes). These lawyers are "true believers" in civil rights and social justice. They have high integrity and truly care for their clients; I never noticed any hint of dishonesty, deception, or manipulation. They aren't in this just for the money; they want to help. Furthermore, Steve's facial structure was genetically engineered by extraterrestrial social justice warriors to persuade juries to believe just about anything, so your case would probably prevail in court. I recommend hiring Steve's firm.

Steve Teller is an amazing lawyer and a wonderful person. He believes in justice and will fight for you when you don’t have the strength to fight for yourself. During my case, he took time to explain each process and never over promised. If it wasn’t for him, my husband and I would not be in the position that we’re in today. I highly recommend his services. Thank you for everything Steve!

Steve is a fantastic attorney. He is knowledgeable and will work long and hard for you. I was a little skeptical when he joined my complicated employment case in progress, but he was up to speed on the facts almost immediately, and he brought a fresh insight and new life to my case. He is enthusiastic, persistent, determined and will aggressively fight for you. Steve is also personable, caring, and compassionate and understands your emotional distress. He was easily accessible and kept me informed and up to date. After nearly two years, my case settled for almost 1 million dollars (which is rarely seen in Eastern Washington). If you have been wronged by your employer, I highly recommend you call Steve. It was a blessing having him in my corner.

Our experience with this firm from day one has been excellent. My opinion extends to the entire office staff who are all extremely courteous and helpful people. We had a difficult situation with a non-communicative entity in the onset but with time, Ms. Johnson skillfully launched a plan that eventually led us to an impressive financial settlement plus she successfully negotiated a long-term contract for a substantial amount of money with a billion dollar corporation. Yes, she appears to be a gentle and calm dispositioned woman but there's a raging spirit within her who will not be intimidated by powerful big business and she will continually fight and strategize until you succeed in your cause. This case took almost 2 years to conclude but one of the most fortunate and wise things I've ever done in business was to hire Ms. Johnson.

It is with great pleasure that I write an outstanding review for Attorney John Ryan. As a non profit preschool that serves the needs of children with several different learning styles and abilities, it goes with out saying we have been severely affected due to the pandemic. Through determination, grit and for lack of a better word, blood sweet and tears, we are still standing and serving families of the community as it was very evident our unique learning school is much needed in the community. At the end of the day, we are viewed as just another business with our debtors, and landlords and beyond. We have encountered and come across some of the most vile and unethical people through out this process, as a volunteer board president who started this organization in 2014 to ensure there was a place for my child who is a non traditional learner, and many of her peers the toll this was taking was becoming too much. When we hired Attorney Ryan, it was to handle a fraction of what we were dealing with. We persevered to move forward and keep what we started going, when disparaging emails, harassment, and phone calls became too much to cary, Attorney Ryan Stepped in on several different occasions to take some of this stress off our plate, and handled the unethical treatment and “threats” with out skipping a beat. He was able to reassure us we were not in need of meeting unrealistic demands, and took over on our behalf and was very attentive and not bothered by the grotesque scare tactics used by misc companies, and people. Knowing that Attorney Ryan was handling this, while fully keeping us in the loop, and assuring us of our rights, helped relieve a huge amount of stress, anxiety and harassment, so we could focus on what really matters, carrying our mission forward and ensuring a place like this will exist in our community for years and beyond. Respectfully, Judy Pagni Gig Harbor Board President

John stuck with me through a year long house sale horror. First, was the deed in lieu. I changed my mind (for which he was very gratuitous and only seemed to care that I chose the best option for myself). Next came the short sale from hell. If something could go wrong, it did. This lasted over 8 months. All along the way, he advised me on the best options. He checked on me quite a bit, was very professional but caring. I felt like I really had someone who had my back. This was especially wonderful as I was a recent widow. I highly recommend him and would give an outstanding reference to anyone who asked! Thanks John:)

Rory helped me recover over $10k of unemployment benefits which was previously denied to me by ESD WA. I’m a long-time remote worker who decided to briefly pause my job search to focus on taking care of my spouse, who had back surgery. I also traveled overseas while continuously looking for remote work. Before hiring Rory, I researched how I could appeal my case on my own. There weren’t a lot of good sources online, and since this was my first time claiming any unemployment benefits, I decided to hire a lawyer. From the first free initial interview until the hearing day, Rory has been professional, patient, and easy to talk to. He educated me on the appeal process and set realistic expectations without overpromising. I appreciate his responsiveness and graciousness in extending our meetings as needed, which reflects his commitment to exceptional service and client satisfaction. During my hearing, he provided references to the judge of previous winning cases that were similar to my case. I believe those references greatly helped my cause. I found out about pro-bono or donation-based services like his after hiring him. That could be an option too. Knowing Rory used to work as an Administrative Law Judge on unemployment insurance appeals gave me confidence that paying for his services was worth it.

I recommend Leah Altaras , on every social post I see on social media in regards to anything they’re going through. Leah is an Advocate for righting wrongs, I met her as a Prosecuting Attorney, and when my life was altered in an MVA I called Her for advice, and she was willing to take on my Personal Injury case. I was compensated by the other guys insurance the maximum amount as well as my own under insured coverage. At about 80% recovery, after a year of Physical Therapy, I was hit again, MVA. Compounded injuries, a tough fight, but Leah has that “fight” in Her, as do I, and we recovered well, in the 2nd MVA case as well. She also has consulted with Me over many various concerns I’ve had. I highly recommend Leah Altaras for all of Your legal concerns.

Leah came highly recommended by another lifesaving attorney I had worked with prior and we began working together over a year ago. These are some of the highlights you can expect working with her: 1) She jumps right in. While many attorneys want all this pomp and circumstance before actually getting started, Leah provided immediate value prior to my check even clearing. 2) She's highly creative. In law, everything is about strategy and Leah is so creatively strategic, the other party will never see it coming. 3) She makes herself available. While many attorneys have office staff and paralegals doing much of the work, Leah is a highly experienced attorney willing to actually answer her phone and texts. 4) She's flexible. There were times where things would change on a dime or my funds would dry up, yet I never ever felt abandoned by her. Even when I had to take my case on myself for a while, she still operated as my secret weapon and willingly taught me the ropes so I could continue to win. 5) She's thorough. Leah doesn't just simply answer the questions...she provides background, context, additional considerations, knowledge on who I'm up against, etc. 6) She's real and has actual empathy. Never once did I feel like just a client or "job." Leah's been through the trenches and sees things from her client's POV with genuine care. It's very hard to find a "real" person these days...she's just that. 7) She's NOT a pushover. Leah doesn't just take the easy path to "get things over with." She's a fighter in the most strategic way and never once suggested I just settle on my demands. Other attorneys I've worked with cared more about making backdoor deals or compromises...not Leah! 8) She's highly respected in the courtroom. Leah runs the show and knows exactly what to say to maintain the upmost respect in front of the court. This is critical to have in an attorney!! 9) She's an incredible person. Even outside of the law, Leah lives an authentic, family-oriented, and down-to-earth life. Her gift seems to be having a work-life balance in a way I've never seen before. 10) She's helped me win! I mean...is there really anything more important than this? Not when safety, financial wellbeing, freedom, and our children are on the line! I literally feel that her work has truly saved my life with everything I had at stake. When you need a fierce, competent, hard-working attorney to make you their number 1 for a while, it's truly invaluable to find an attorney like Leah. I know I sound like a broken record with positivity...but that's only because I've had such bad experiences with other attorneys before. So when I find an excellent one, I want to shout it from the rooftops because I truly, wholeheartedly believe in justice...and that's exactly what Leah has helped me achieve. Thank you for the being the real deal, Leah. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Mr. Taylor was appointed by TC Superior Court to defend my grandson for a first felony offense. He was as good, if not better than, a privately retained attorney in terms of effective defense, bringing out the right questions at trial, and statements for the judge. The result was my grandson receiving a "first offender" consideration from possibly the sternest (but also intuitive) judge in the county, with treatment requirement instead of the prison sentencing range normally carried by the charge. Mr. Taylor was thorough and effective, and I would highly recommend him as a privately retained attorney for criminal defense.

When I needed an attorney but couldn't afford to get a paid one I had to have a court appointed one and that made me feel like I was for sure gonna do time. I got appointed mr Taylor to represent me in my case where I was charged with possession with intent to deliver and the within a 1000 feet of school bus stop. Mr Taylor was very polite and knowledgeable about the law and also knowledgeable of how sometimes the prosecutors and lawyers are friends that discuss cases when not at work and he assured me that he wasn't one of those guys. He wasnt very talkative and that made me nervous and I asked the private detective he had working on my case what he thought of mr being a court appointed attorney ? Or would I get better representation by paying for one? He told me that I was.very fortunate to have mr Taylor fighting my case and that one of his strong points was that he don't say much because the prosecutors have no clue what's he gonna do. Anyways he was ready for trial in a short time and every time it got continued he ask me if I still want to go to trial. The final offer that the courts gave me was a 2 year diversion witht the friendship program and after meeting all the requirements and paying a fine and staying out of trouble for two years in the end the case will be dismissed. I took the plea and am very pleased with how it all worked out for me because of the good attorney I had. Thankyou for helping me to remain felony free and out of prison. I recommend Chris Taylor for any criminal defense needed to win

Therese was able to represent my interests in a difficult situation that left me feeling more confident about my case and our ultimate outcome. She asked detailed questions about the situation and made sure that I understood what the process would be for trial. Therese was patient and understanding and gave me a good grasp on who we would be facing in trial and what to expect. Chris is human, he is all anyone could ever hope to find in an attorney. Stop your'e search right now. Aside from his legal expertise, he is kind, fair, and a hero among men. May I never be any part of a lawsuit again and end up on the litigation wheel. It is my great misfortune that Chris wasn't my first attorney. That will always be my regret. Chris said he doesn't advertise, his skills, and tenacity don't require he advertise. Please take a breath and do yourself a favor, look no further, Chris is simply more than anyone could hope for.

Chris is fair and not out to gouge anyone even the one he's up against. He has integrity and keeps the bottom line as low for the client as possible by keeping the reality upfront. We used his service for a work injury claim and a personal collection my ex was responsible for. We will rave over his service and highly recommend him!

Patrick reviewed my case, prepared documents, and interacted with the MQAC investigator and attorney on my behalf regarding an allegation of unprofessional conduct on the business side of medicine. With his help, I was able to provide the commission with the information they needed and the complaint was dismissed. Patrick is experienced in representing physicians before the commission and his knowledge and advice was appreciated.

In April of this year I was arrested and charged with two felonies that I did not commit. I spent 40 long hours in jail and while I was there my wife received a referral for the Seattle law firm McKay-Chadwell and I'm so thankful she did. My legal fate was placed in the professional, capable hands of attorney Patrick "Pat" Preston. From our initial meeting I was very impressed with Pat's professionalism, attention to detail, and sincerity. He helped me to get through the worst 4 months of my life. Pat is gifted in his ability to look through Discovery that has been submitted by the prosecution, sift through the nonsense and laser focus on key points that help his clients, in this case, myself. Pat Preston has worked on the prosecution side so he has a keen insight into their motivations, tactics, and strategies. When I hired Mckay-Chadwell and Pat Preston, I was in desperate need of somebody to defend me and that's exactly what Pat did, he defended me when I needed it the most. Thanks to the tremendous criminal defense abilities of Mckay-Chadwell and Pat Preston, ALL charges against me were dismissed, which is the result I deserved and had hoped for. I would highly recommend Mckay-Chadwell and attorney Patrick Preston to anyone who finds themselves in a legal predicament.

I was referred to Addams and Leavitt through my church. Michael offered an excellent consultation and worked with me on his hourly rate based on my income. His knowledge and experience ensured a winning outcome for my child custody case. I had many questions for Michael. He didn't have the answer to all of them immediately but he always researched and got back with me with the right information as he promised. I am truly grateful for his professional help and I would definitely recommend Addams and Leavitt to anyone needing honest representation.

TLDR: HIRE SHANE. Shane Cridlebaugh is A-MAZING! First off, I called around to many different lawyers and Shane stood out because he instantly told me that I was paying my spouse BAH (military housing allowance/spousal support) when I didn’t have to since we had a prenuptial agreement. No other lawyers had pointed this out. Even the military lawyers had not noticed this. He was the first one to notice during the free consultation. He was right! I took my agreement to my chain of command and military lawyers and they confirmed that I didn’t have to pay based on the prenuptial agreement. Every other lawyer I called around to told me I would have to continue paying my spouse BAH until the divorce was final. Shane was also the only lawyer that was ready to start making moves. During our phone consultation he was already telling me the next steps that he would take. He’s an aggressive lawyer which is what you want. I sincerely felt like he was fighting for me. Shane moves quick. The other side would take days or weeks to respond whereas Shane would always respond promptly. You will want that because you want the divorce to finish quickly! I didn’t have to communicate with the other side at all which was one of my requests. Shane is very honest about money. When the other party agreed to a settlement, Shane was upfront and informed me that he had not used all of the initial retainer fee and would pay the other party from the remaining retainer fee I had already paid. Shane could have easily charged me extra and claimed he had already worked the equivalent of the entire retainer fee. Shane was always available by email even on holidays and weekends. In fact, my final papers were prepared and signed on New Year’s Eve because he was working! It’s a long review because Shane deserves it. He seriously made my divorce so easy. You won’t be disappointed when you hire him.

I hired Shane to handle my divorce. Unfortunately, I discovered Florida was taking jurisdiction of the divorce about a month after I hired him, so I was no longer able to use a WA attorney. Despite this, Shane was willing to help me look over the new documents I was served to better explain the verbiage in layman’s terms for my understanding, even though he made it very clear he couldn’t advise me on anything or provide services. When I was working with him in the beginning, he always took my calls, made time to see me and got things to me in a timely manner. He also refunded me the majority of my retainer fee since state laws didn’t allow him to work on my case. Most recently, he happily answered WA law questions that I called him with over the phone at no cost. I would highly recommend him! You can tell he is honest and genuine, not about screwing people out of money.

What a Government Lawyer Can Do for You

A government lawyer specializes in legal issues related to government policies, regulations, and disputes involving public entities. Whether you are a private individual, business, or government agency, a government lawyer provides expert guidance on navigating the complexities of government law. These attorneys handle cases ranging from constitutional law, administrative law, regulatory compliance, and government contracts to defending or challenging government actions.

Government lawyers help individuals and organizations understand their rights and obligations under the law, represent them in disputes with government agencies, and assist in matters of government contracting, procurement, or public policy.

When Should I Hire a Government Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a government lawyer in several situations involving government regulations, compliance, or disputes. Common reasons to hire a government lawyer include:

  • Government contracts and procurement: If you are bidding for or negotiating a contract with a government agency, a lawyer can help ensure compliance with federal, state, or local contracting rules.
  • Regulatory compliance: Businesses operating in highly regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance, environmental sectors) often need legal guidance to comply with government regulations and avoid penalties.
  • Government investigations: If you're being investigated by a government agency such as the IRS, SEC, or EPA, a government lawyer can help defend you against allegations or negotiate settlements.
  • Challenging government actions: If a government agency has denied a permit, license, or benefit, a lawyer can help you appeal or challenge the decision in court.
  • Constitutional and civil rights issues: If you believe your constitutional rights have been violated by a government entity, such as in cases involving free speech or discrimination, a government lawyer can help you seek justice.
  • Public policy or lobbying efforts: If you are involved in lobbying or advocating for policy changes at the local, state, or federal level, a government lawyer can provide legal advice on compliance with lobbying laws and strategies for effective advocacy.

Hiring a government lawyer early in the process can help you navigate complex legal frameworks and avoid costly mistakes when dealing with government-related legal issues.

What Does a Government Lawyer Do?

A government lawyer provides a wide range of services that cover interactions between individuals, businesses, and government entities. They can:

  • Assist with government contracts: Helping clients navigate procurement laws, drafting contracts, and resolving disputes related to government contracting.
  • Provide regulatory compliance advice: Offering guidance on meeting regulatory requirements for industries subject to federal, state, or local laws.
  • Handle administrative law matters: Representing clients before government agencies, such as appealing administrative decisions, applying for permits, or defending against regulatory enforcement actions.
  • Challenge or defend government actions: Representing clients in lawsuits involving government agencies, including constitutional challenges, civil rights violations, or disputes over government decisions.
  • Negotiate settlements with government entities: If a government agency is pursuing legal action against you or your business, a lawyer can negotiate settlements to avoid costly litigation.
  • Advocate for policy changes: Advising clients on legal strategies for influencing public policy, including lobbying and drafting legislation.
  • Litigate constitutional issues: Handling cases related to the Constitution, such as First Amendment rights, due process violations, or unlawful government actions.

How Are Government Lawyers Paid?

Government lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the nature of the legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: For ongoing legal matters, such as regulatory compliance or government contract disputes, lawyers may charge by the hour. Hourly rates can vary depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For specific services, such as drafting a government contract or filing an administrative appeal, some lawyers charge a flat fee.
  • Retainer: For clients who need ongoing legal support, such as businesses frequently interacting with government agencies, a lawyer may charge a retainer fee. This is an upfront payment that covers future legal services.
  • Contingency fee: In some cases involving litigation, such as civil rights violations, a lawyer may work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle the case.

It’s important to discuss fee structures with your lawyer during the initial consultation to avoid surprises.

How Much Does a Government Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a government lawyer depends on the complexity of the legal issue, the lawyer's experience, and their fee structure. Here are some general cost estimates:

  • Hourly rates: Government lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For specific legal services, such as drafting a government contract, flat fees can range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on the nature of the service.
  • Retainer fees: A retainer for ongoing legal work with government agencies can range from $5,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the scope and frequency of the work.
  • Contingency fees: In cases where a lawyer works on contingency, their fee is usually a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or damages awarded if the case is successful.

Be sure to get a clear estimate of costs during your consultation to ensure that you understand the fees associated with your case.

Top Questions to Ask a Government Lawyer

When hiring a government lawyer, it’s essential to ask the right questions to ensure they have the experience and skills needed for your specific situation. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What is your experience with government law cases?
Make sure the lawyer has substantial experience in handling cases or issues involving government agencies, regulatory compliance, or constitutional law.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services - whether by the hour, flat fee, retainer, or contingency fee - and request an estimate of costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your legal options and the likelihood of success based on your specific situation.
  4. How do you handle interactions with government agencies?
Ask about their approach to dealing with government entities and their experience with specific agencies relevant to your case (e.g., IRS, EPA, SEC).
  5. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Ask about their experience with similar cases and whether they have achieved favorable outcomes in the past.
  6. Who will handle my case?
Clarify whether the lawyer you are meeting with will personally handle your case or whether junior attorneys or paralegals will do most of the work.

How to Check the Credibility of a Government Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a reputable government lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and reputation:

  • Check state bar association records: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice in your state and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Review their professional experience: Look for specific experience in government-related legal issues, such as regulatory compliance, government contracts, or administrative law, on their website or professional profile.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Check online reviews and ratings on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to get insight into the lawyer’s reputation and track record.
  • Ask for references: Request references from previous clients who have worked with the lawyer on government-related matters to understand their experience and effectiveness.
  • Check for membership in relevant organizations: Look for memberships in professional organizations such as the American Bar Association's Administrative Law Section or the National Institute of Government Procurement, which can indicate the lawyer’s focus on government law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with a government lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant information and documents. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Detailed description of your legal issue: Be prepared to explain your situation, whether it’s a regulatory compliance question, a government contract issue, or a dispute with a government agency.
  • Relevant documents: Bring any paperwork related to your case, such as contracts, permits, letters from government agencies, or notices of investigation.
  • A list of questions: Write down any questions you have about your case, including the legal process, potential outcomes, and costs.
  • Timeline of events: Provide a clear timeline of any relevant events, such as the issuance of government orders or interactions with government agencies.
  • Goals for the outcome: Be ready to discuss what you hope to achieve, whether it’s a favorable settlement, regulatory compliance, or overturning a government decision.

By being organized and prepared, you can help your lawyer understand your situation more quickly and give you the best legal advice moving forward.
