If I could give attorney Zhao a below one, it would most definitely be a 0. She has poor manners and didn't think my spouse case was work, who responds to a client stating "I have been very busy with work" like my spouse case wasn't work. Then gets upset and removed herself from the case after filling into the case because you don't like corrective criticism, how unethical. When she calls her clients she is very disgruntled and pushy, can't be so sure if its a personality conflict or a color/race conflict, but whatever it is. I would not recommend her for any case learn how to treat your clients. You won't make it very far being rude, people are no longer standing for bad behaviors.

I had a legal issue with the business that I manage and Paul King of King & Jones was an absolute pleasure to work with. From the initial phone consultation, Paul was very helpful explaining all my options and the process going forward. While working with them, they were in constant contact all the steps during the way. The final outcome was favorable and I owe it to their expertise in legal business law. Thank you!

Rabindra Singh's selfless and altruistic personality made him more than an outstanding lawyer. He is someone you can trust and rely on completely. He demonstrated unyielding dedication throughout the process of filing my U visa petition and EAD application. He provided guidance and support that eased all my doubts and concerns about the complex application process. What makes him truly special is his steadfast commitment to his clients, always prioritizing their needs. He was always available and responsive, ensuring I never had to wait long for his valuable advice and help. His exceptional talent and skill were perceptible in the preparation and thorough review of my documents. I am incredibly grateful for his invaluable guidance and assistance. I highly recommend his fantastic immigration services to anyone in need.

Worked with Brian Thompto as an attorney to file my Green card and he was so unreponsive, careless, rude and never ever replied back to my emails neither calls. Wasted my 15 months for PWD and PERm and end result is it got denied because of his mistake to not including my skills in ETA-9089 besides providing him all the details. Even after it got denied, he seems like nothing happened and jeopardizing my future and now i am left with no option else than leaving US as my time is getting closer. I would definitely not recommend him and I still can't believe that i am not the first person to give this type of review but still he is serving in this organization. Seems like all Attorneys here are like same where no one care about their clients. If you wish to waste your time and money, please hire from here.

We hired Mark by recommendation but clearly he waa too inexperienced, emotional and did Not care about the seriousness of the case. He allowed the case to drag for years w/o filing any motions& was constantly inappropriate with his comments. If you or your loved one's life is hanging in the balance, Do Not Hire this man!! He will do a poor job& bail on you.

My brother had a bad run in with the police, it resulted in a physical altercation and needless to say as a POC they threw the book at him, and he was looking at multiple felonies. A friend recommended Mark, and so I called him up. He carefully reviewed everything and was super transparent about pricing and what he could achieve. We aren't rich, so we didn't know if we could afford the best defence for my brother. I can confidently say we got the absolute BEST defence and all the felonies were dismissed without us having to mortgage our house. I would totally recommend Mark to anyone who is having any legal trouble.

Attorney Mark Almanza represented me on a criminal case where I was unlawfully stopped. I had never been arrested before and attorney Almanza was able to explain and walk me through the court system. I was grateful for the experience and knowledge of attorney Almanza. He was reasonable with his fees and did exactly what he said he would do. I would recommend attorney Almanza to anyone. Best of all, he was able to get my case dismissed without going to trial.

I have to take a moment to recognize Michael Craven and Kevin Salzstein for their amazing support and expertise during my tumultuous divorce process. They were both very knowledgeable and kept me informed throughout the entire process. I was made aware of my rights and what I was entitled to by law. When I made a decision on whether or not to pursue something, my choice was respected and I felt confident in my decision. Both were very easy to work with and respected my time. Michael is well versed in business law as well, which I found helpful as an entrepreneur. Although I did not consider my divorce to be high conflict, when things did become stressful or intense, they remained professional and helped to keep me calm as well. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a lawyer who is authentic, who has a sense of humor, and who gets results. Divorce is one of the most difficult life stages and having either of these two in your corner, is worth every penny.

We were lucky that NIJC agreed to take my friend's case. They don't take everyone. I was told by the lawyer for NIJC in Goshen, IN that they only took cases that they thought they could win. In this new case, Olivia Judd agreed to take the case and got a pro Bono lawyer to represent him in court. The lawyer did a wonderful job and he was granted asylum in Chicago yesterday. So. Thank you to Olivia for helping this very worthy man to remain in the U.S. We will be forever grateful for NIJC and for you, Olivia.

I have to admit, after nearly 5 years of working with them and still not having my debt paid off, it feels like this process wasn't worth it. I have one remaining debt of $12K, and nearly $9K in my account that needs to be paid off. Yet, every month, it feels like the balance never gets closer to being resolved. At this point, I don’t understand why they can't call the creditor and negotiate directly. It finally dawned on me that the reason might be the high fees they charge. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend them again, and I am determined to stay out of debt just to avoid working with them in the future. On top of that, my account password never works, and I never receive the reset email. For a company taking in so much money, having a properly functioning website should be a basic expectation—it's almost laughable.

I am incredibly grateful to Mr. Judd Azulay and his team for their exceptional guidance and unwavering support throughout my long journey to obtaining my green card. From the moment I sought their counsel, Mr. Azulay's deep expertise and strategic advice were invaluable. His proactive approach and thorough understanding of immigration law laid a solid foundation for my case. Throughout the process, Mr. Azulay's team, especially Vangie Abron, played a crucial role with her meticulous attention to detail and relentless pursuit of accuracy in every document and application. Her dedication ensured that everything was in order, which was instrumental in achieving a positive outcome. Thanks to their professionalism and commitment, I now hold my green card, marking the end of a challenging yet ultimately successful journey. Do your research before you meet with any lawyer in USA.I made mistake and I didn’t,now this is going to cost me nice amount of money but what is more important you’re going to waste your time which is irretrievable. If you are thin with nerves you can bet you’ll stay without those if you get in any deal with this firm. I came to this office by recommendation of my friend and that’s why I never done any research on them but if you’re reading this today you are on the good path.If you check the reviews you’ll notice majority of them are negative and from my experience I’ll tell that they are true. I’m not ever writing reviews but I had to this one because I won’t be able to sleep if I don’t. I had consultation with MR Ira about my case 3 months ago.Since my case is open for a few years now we had lot of things to talk about. MR Ira looked great and gave impression that he’s decent, all you wish for, attorney. I told him right away that the only problem I had with my previous attorney was that I felt like I’ve been pushed a side from. When you’re paying someone 500$ per hour you don’t want to be forgotten and to remind them you’re still around. Not sure if only I feel this way. He promised that’s not happening with him. I paid him 2800$ for paperwork transfer,he even charged for paper that he’ll use printing those which supposed to be red flag right away but I already wrote I got there by recommendation. The deal was that once he goes through the paperwork for my case he’ll give me a call and we’ll make strategy how we’ll proceed with the case. After 3 months I still hadn’t heard from anyone from this office beside the lady on front desk since she’s answering and attorney there is always busy or whatever. I tried calling several times, left voicemails, sent emails, left messages wit front desk lady. You can guess what happened NOTHING So my advice to you readers. If you have money that you don’t need and you like your time wasted go visit this firm, they are waiting for you. Don’t be naive like I was

Her dedication ensured that everything was in order, which was instrumental in achieving a positive outcome. Thanks to their professionalism and commitment, I now hold my green card, marking the end of a challenging yet ultimately successful journey. I cannot recommend Mr. Azulay and his team highly enough for anyone navigating the complexities of immigration law. They truly go above and beyond for their clients.

What an Immigration Lawyer Can Do for You

An immigration lawyer specializes in helping individuals, families, and businesses navigate the complex immigration process. These lawyers provide legal guidance on various immigration matters, such as obtaining visas, gaining permanent residency (green cards), applying for citizenship, and defending clients in deportation or removal proceedings. Immigration lawyers also assist with employment-based immigration, asylum applications, and resolving issues related to visas or immigration status.

Whether you're trying to immigrate to the U.S., facing deportation, or sponsoring an employee or family member for a visa, an immigration lawyer can help you understand your legal options and navigate the often complicated legal system.

When Should I Hire an Immigration Lawyer?

Hiring an immigration lawyer is beneficial in many situations where you are dealing with U.S. immigration laws, whether for personal or business reasons. Common reasons to hire an immigration lawyer include:

  • Visa applications: If you need assistance applying for a visa, whether it's a work visa (H-1B), student visa (F-1), or tourist visa (B-1/B-2), a lawyer can help ensure the application is properly completed and submitted.
  • Green card applications: If you're seeking permanent residency, an immigration lawyer can guide you through the process, whether through family sponsorship, employment, or the Diversity Visa (lottery) program.
  • Deportation or removal defense: If you’re facing deportation or removal from the U.S., a lawyer can defend your case in immigration court and seek to prevent removal.
  • Asylum applications: If you’re seeking asylum due to persecution or fear of persecution in your home country, a lawyer can help you prepare a strong case and file for asylum.
  • Family reunification: If you're a U.S. citizen or permanent resident looking to bring family members to the U.S., a lawyer can assist with the family sponsorship process.
  • Citizenship and naturalization: If you're ready to apply for U.S. citizenship, a lawyer can help you navigate the naturalization process and ensure you meet all the requirements.
  • Business immigration: If you're an employer seeking to hire foreign workers, a lawyer can assist with employment-based visas, labor certification, and compliance with immigration regulations.
  • Special immigration categories: Immigration lawyers also handle complex cases, such as visas for victims of human trafficking (T visa), crime victims (U visa), or those seeking Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

Hiring an immigration lawyer early in the process can help you avoid delays, errors, and possible denials due to incomplete or incorrect applications.

What Does an Immigration Lawyer Do?

An immigration lawyer provides a wide range of services to help clients with their immigration needs, whether personal or business-related. Their tasks often include:

  • Assisting with visa applications: Helping clients fill out and submit visa applications, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Filing for green cards and permanent residency: Guiding clients through the process of applying for a green card, including family-based, employment-based, or other forms of residency.
  • Defending against deportation or removal: Representing clients in immigration court who are facing deportation and working to prevent removal from the U.S.
  • Preparing asylum cases: Assisting clients in applying for asylum based on fear of persecution in their home country due to race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.
  • Handling citizenship applications: Helping lawful permanent residents apply for naturalization and ensuring they meet all the legal requirements for U.S. citizenship.
  • Employment-based immigration: Assisting employers with the process of sponsoring foreign workers for temporary or permanent visas, including H-1B, L-1, and EB-1 through EB-5 visas.
  • Representation in immigration interviews: Preparing clients for immigration interviews and attending interviews at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) offices.
  • Appealing denied applications: If a visa, green card, or citizenship application is denied, a lawyer can file appeals or motions to reopen or reconsider the case.

How Are Immigration Lawyers Paid?

Immigration lawyers generally charge for their services based on the type of immigration case and the complexity of the legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: Many immigration lawyers charge a flat fee for specific services, such as preparing a visa application, green card petition, or citizenship application. Flat fees help clients know upfront what the legal costs will be for a particular service.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex cases, such as deportation defense or appeals, some lawyers charge by the hour. Hourly rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Retainer: For ongoing immigration matters, some clients may need to pay a retainer, which is an upfront payment billed against as the lawyer works on the case.
  • Pro bono or sliding scale: Some immigration lawyers or nonprofit organizations may offer free or low-cost services for clients with limited financial means, particularly in asylum or humanitarian cases.

It’s essential to discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand the costs and payment arrangements.

How Much Does an Immigration Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an immigration lawyer varies based on the type of legal service required, the lawyer's experience, and the complexity of the case. General cost estimates include:

  • Visa applications: For help with visa applications (e.g., H-1B, L-1, F-1), legal fees may range from $2,000 to $7,500, depending on the complexity and the type of visa.
  • Green card applications: Fees for family-based or employment-based green card applications typically range from $3,000 to $10,000, depending on the case.
  • Deportation defense: For defending clients in removal proceedings, costs can range from $5,000 to $15,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case and how long the case takes.
  • Asylum cases: Asylum applications may range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on whether the case is defensive (in removal proceedings) or affirmative (not in removal proceedings).
  • Citizenship applications: Legal fees for filing a naturalization application usually range from $1,500 to $5,000, depending on the complexity of the client’s immigration history.
  • Business immigration services: Fees for assisting businesses with employment-based visas (such as H-1B or EB-5 visas) often range from $3,000 to $10,000 or more.

Always ask for a clear breakdown of costs and fee arrangements before proceeding with legal services.

Top Questions to Ask an Immigration Lawyer

Before hiring an immigration lawyer, it's essential to ask questions to ensure they have the experience and expertise to handle your case effectively. Important questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with immigration cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s family-based immigration, employment visas, or asylum.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a flat fee, hourly rate, or retainer, and ask for a detailed estimate of the total cost.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case and the potential outcomes, including any challenges you might face.
  4. How long will the process take?
Immigration cases can take time, so ask how long it may take to process your application or resolve your legal issue.
  5. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case. Make sure you know who will be working on your case directly.
  6. What documents do I need to provide?
Ask the lawyer about the documentation required to support your case, such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, or employment contracts.

How to Check the Credibility of an Immigration Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable immigration lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Check their state bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for specific immigration law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in immigration law and have experience handling cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their ability to handle immigration cases.
  • Check for industry affiliations: Membership in organizations like the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) can indicate the lawyer’s expertise and commitment to immigration law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with an immigration lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Passport and immigration documents: Bring your passport, visa, and any documents related to your current immigration status.
  • Family documents: If you're applying for a family-based visa or green card, bring marriage certificates, birth certificates, and proof of family relationships.
  • Employment information: For employment-based visas, provide your employment contract, offer letter, or other documentation of your job.
  • Criminal records (if applicable): If you have any criminal history, bring copies of court records and other relevant documents.
  • Timeline of events: Provide a clear timeline of any prior immigration applications, visas, or issues with immigration authorities.
  • List of questions: Prepare any questions you have about your immigration case, the process, costs, and the likelihood of success.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer understand your case more effectively and get the best possible legal advice on how to proceed.
