Mr. Afanassiev "fixed" my sister's and mine immigration status. First time I met him I was desperate! My sister had been deported and I can give you a list of attorneys in Houston that just took my money and messed even more the situation. Mr. Afanassiev came with a solution that any other attorney had told me before. My sister's situation was reverted and she was able to recover her visa. He also helped me to get my GC and my citizenship ! My family and I will never have enough words of thanks...GREAT ATTORNEY !

He has been a blessing to me and my family. He assisted my sister back in 2006. He then assisted me in 2008 with my case. My case was more complicated but he worked hard and we were able to get my residency card. Finally in 2012 I became a U.S. citizen thanks to him!! That same year he also helped my parents...he pushed the paperwork through and they are now permanent residents. We couldn't have done it without him and the support of his staff. I believe he truly understands immigrants because he is one himself. Being a Russian native working and permanently living here gives him a better insight to all the struggles we (immigrants) go through. My and I have gone through other lawyers and all of them made promises and all of them fail. I am grateful we found him through another family friend :)

To person whomever is reading this, I would like to share my story with you, Alexandre I. Afanassiev is a worst immigration lawyer a immigrant can retain. I retained Mr. Alexandre I Afanassiev for appeal services while I was fighting deportation if I were ever to be detained for him to file an appeal and he had written something else in the contract. like many I did not have all the time in the world becasue I was fighting deportation but this lawyer had dont absolutely nothing for 10 full entire months where he just decides to prepare some doucment for me to go file with ICE where he as a professional lawyer knew that I would get arrested and be put on a plane back to Canada. I repeat Alexandre I Afanassiev knew that his client would get arrested but still he had prepared something at the last minute where he did not have to but just he did becasue some services could occur and he could get paid but he never advised me that I would get arrested to file the document that he had prepared. As any lawyer Alexandre I Afanassiev should have protected his client. But just for money Alexandre I Afanassiev decides to prepare a document which was not nessessary to prepare anything at the last minute. I want to world to read my story which resulted of me being deported from USA the country I loved and losing 20 years of what I had build.

Attorney Cabrera is an outstanding attorney. She managed to reopen my case from which I was ordered deported after not appearing to my court. What's outstanding about her work is that this case is not 2, 3 years old. It's about 35 years old. I was 2 years old at the time when I was ordered deported. During the process, attorney Cabrera was very attentive to details and crossed reference all the information provided to her to proof that missing my court date was not intentionally done. It is my opinion that it is not the best idea to work with this guy. I was referred by state bar to call this office, but all i heard was grumpy negative feedbacks about my case, and he wont even want to take the case because there hasnt been any investigation prior he takes the case. I mean, what is the point of hiring a lawyer then? Isnt it their job to take the initiative? It was great pleasure to hear from such a lazy and disrespectful human being. Make smart decision people.

I was recommended Carlos by a close friend who set up an appointment for me at the firm. Upon meeting Carlos I felt extremely welcomed, even before payments we fleshed out my case and every possible scenario and route we could take. Carlos and team were all extremely patient and thorough with my case, it took close to 2 years to finally get a resolution but ultimately I left the courtroom happy. We were able to get my charges severely reduced and I was given my life back thanks to Carlos and the team, I can't begin to explain how relieved and happy I was when I was given my final paperwork and saw what they were able to do for me.

Carlos and team did for me in ONE court date what 4 other attorneys in almost 3 years could NOT do! I had 3 Felony / 3 Misdemeanors (2 A / 1 B) which combined could have resulted in a max of 32-33 years. Because of my situation with an ex-spouse known to be Spiteful and Manipulative of the system I was not going to give up. 4 of the 6 Charges were violations of a "settled" Protective Order whereby the courts found that there was no violence in the past, present or none feared in the future. The Ex knew how to manipulate the system as I was the 3rd husband that tried has to "kill her" or brutally abused her. Obviously a pattern here BUT in the State of Texas - Women are the Kings and if a female makes the same statements and claims as mine then you are Guilty until proven Innocent regardless of HER past and previous allegations against those poor souls before me.
In short - no one wants to harm the Ex but only get as far away as possible from her and her illicit double life and thanks to Carlos 5 of the 6 charges were dismissed.
After all of the facts were presented to the ADA by Carlos I walked out of the courtroom with deferred adjudication for 2 Years for one Class B Misdemeanor of "ATTEMPTED Violation of Protective Order" with no fines or penalties either. I am eligible in 8 months to have the case dismissed altogether and keep my clean record which is important as a corporate executive with global travel.
He works at a busy law firm with difficult cases and that is what you want from an attorney - it's analogous to walking into a restaurant that is packed with people - the food is good as opposed to a restaurant that never has any people (always a Red Flag)!
Please note that this website is a revenue site and a lot of attorneys on here with 5+ Stars have an upgraded membership and routinely manipulate the reviews in their favor. Do NOT be fooled by that as was I...
Last - IF you are not happy with an attorney then you have the Legal Right to change - Carlos was my FIFTH attorney. Don't accept a judgement then "blast" the attorney online in a poor review!!

I hate to even rate this person 1 star but it is required to be able to post your review. DO NOT HIRE HIM! This guy and his staff are very unprofessional and down right rude. They take your money and run. We found out that he was not even able to practice law in Texas while he was supposed to be representing our case. His staff is just as bad - I would even call them fraudulent. Spare yourself money, and a lot of frustration and don't hire him. At times I wasn't sure which side he was representing!!

It's kind of difficult to write this review because I have had some success with Atty. Brown in the past, but within the past year, I have received nothing but poor service. As an immigrant, I don't earn a lot of money, so I took it upon myself to begin the process on my own. I reached out to Ms. Darlene Brown and paid her for services that she had not provided. Somewhere in the midst of everything, without notice or reason, she dropped me as a client. When I attempted several times to contact her to hire her for additional services, she would not return any phone calls or emails. I would have appreciated her letting me know if she felt I could not afford her services or that my case was too complex for her, anything would have been better than just ignoring a loyal customer. If she no longer wanted to continue our business relationship, she should have told me honestly and directly and I could have attained a new attorney to meet my needs sooner. I would not recommend Ms. Darlene Brown, not because of her past performance, but lack of maintaining good customer relations.

Took him a year before he talked to me about my case. He also hand wrote me a check because he claimed my insurance company was taking a bit long to send the check. He told me he would send me a copy of the check that my insurance paid him, but never did. Now he is not returning my calls. My insurance company refuses to discuss my claim with me, because I was represented by a lawyer.

I needed Mr LIn assistance on my J1 visa waiver. When we started to work on the case with him, we had almost a year and a half to get matter resolved without needing to leave the country. From the beginning, we had problems contacting him with any matter, getting response by e-mail without multiple calls, which unnecessarily delayed the paperwork submission and resulted in not receiving the decision on time. The favorable recommendation finally came, but it was already too late for us. I am really disappointed with Mr Lin attitude in our case.

I hired this lady to help my husband be legally here after we got married all she does is take your money the only thing she did was make an appointment for him in ciudad Juárez Mexico if would of known that she wasn’t going to help I would of never hired I’m the one that had to gather all of the paperwork and send it through DHL and every time had to come out of my pocket to send paperwork that was needed in my husbands case I paid this lady $5000-$7500 she took the money and did nothing my husband has been waiting in Mexico for 2 1/2 yrs she hasn’t even called to ask about him all she does is take your money I wouldn’t recommend her to anyone unless you have time and money to waste because that is what you will be doing she’s never in her office her secretary is the one you have to talk to and if you need a paper signed or something else expect to pay more I had printed out an I-601 form and asked if she could sign it for me and she wanted me to pay her $2500 more you think that after paying her $5000-$7500 would be enough for her to finish your case NOT don’t hire this lady she will take your money and run I don’t recommend her for anything don’t be fooled people she doesn’t care all she cares about is the money in your pocket.

My dad was picked up by ICE and no one knew what to do. I’m the youngest in the family and I asked around and got recommendations from a teacher at school and a friend’s mother...both said Miss Livingston. My mom agreed to hire her because she didn’t know anyone else.
Miss Livingston got my dad out of jail and he now he is legally here. He has a work permit, a social security card and a drivers license.
Now I’m the go to person for any family problem.

I hired Cevallos in 2019 for my divorce case. There were no assets to fight for and no children involved, but you couldn’t solve my case. You had 14 or 17 months with this case and did nothing.
I found out that you were submitting the motions late and that’s why we weren’t getting a date to resolve it.
I paid you over $10,000 and you couldn’t solve a thing!!!!
I do not recommend your services.

They will twist the story around and let you do a very very long maximum sentence in prison over a very very very serious accusation that was so dam false to begin with. Even a dummy could read the fine print and have common sense. Beware! Just keep it moving and hire yourself a real good professional. But…“Instead they should be called the criminals and of the state for allowing such behavior of a dirty trial from the officers, detectives, to the jury and then to the judge….not to mention the cross examiners and cross examination they did was very questionable how can you allow such verdict without sufficient evidence let alone a minor was interviewed without permission of a parent. They will violate your constitutional rights from left to right but they will fight to keep themselves standing innocent at the cost of what?? An innocent man’s life. I’m sure this isn’t the first time they do something this dirty but I do believe more proper investigation shall be given in any case given that will jeopardize someone’s impeccable life…to be exact this all happened in the city of Montgomery County Texas to be Exact….

I hired Silvia for my brothers case. Paid the $500 to go visit him in jail. Of course it wasn’t her it was her assistant. She suggested a Stay of Deportation which was a long shot that would cost $2000. I was hesitant and my brother kept saying they’re going to deport me with a few days. I kept asking Silvia’s assistant to verify if true before I pay and she kept telling me she didn’t see that he was scheduled to be deported. Finally I go ahead and pay and following day he’s deported. Frustrating that they weren’t aware of took my money. I asked for refund and she only credits me $1000. When asked why she made up a lot of false claims of work that was not done. To verify I called her assistant and she confirmed that nothing was filed as Silvia claimed. Truly unethical and very disappointed. Do not use her because it’s all about the money not truly representing you and doing the right thing.

David was referred to us by a friend for a criminal matter. After interviewing three other attorneys, we went with David and never had any regrets about it. Our whole ordeal played out through the justice system for almost three years. David was always straight and to the point. He didn't waste our time with legal terminology and irrelevant things. We went with David because he was focused on our case and the matter at hand. The other lawyers we interviewed didn't really seem to care about our case more than they did attempting to negotiate their retainer. David took the time to hear our case from the beginning to the end, asked a few questions, and then told us realistically what the outcomes could be. If you are looking for someone to sugarcoat things and give you lip service, David IS NOT your guy. As I said earlier, he is very straight and to the point. Sometimes so straight and to the point, it can come off a bit harsh; but at the end of the day, we appreciated his forwardness and courtesy to not "beat around the bush".
With regards to our case, David is quite knowledgeable and will was able to give us a very close and educated guess of what we would be looking at. Furthermore, he knows how to work with the court staff well to get what he needs to get done done. At the very end, the DA attempted to throw a wrench into our case it seemed and escalated the charge because we didn't take the plea, but David advised us to maintain our current standing. Shortly after that, the case was dismissed. The end.

My late aunt whom was in her 90's hired him as her attorney for her will. My aunt wanted to revoke her will and asked me to contact Mr. Diaz, I called 3 times In which his wife answered everytime and always had an excuse as to why he could not come to the phone, I told her my aunt wanted to talk to him about cancelling the will, Mrs Diaz said each time Mr. Diaz would call us back. We never got a return phone call back from him. Which resulted in many problems with the will after my Aunt passed away.

I went reviewed the documents then signed. They mailed the packet. They were very good about keeping me informed and would send me all my notices. My case went well. I an very happy with them.
