I never thought I'd need a divorce lawyer but when I found myself pregnant going through a divorce I knew I'd need one that would advocate for me and my baby boy. From the minute I met Phil Newman we just clicked. His warm, caring nature together with his no-nonsense, cut-to-the-chase way makes him a bulldog of a lawyer. In the end, the way he fights for what's best for the CHILD is what sets him apart. And he's had to put me in my place a few times, but I've always been better as a result.
Now having been divorced 8+ years and going through several post-divorce rounds of parenting plan changes, I can't recommend Phil and his team highly enough.
Especially Alisha Warner who is my other lawyer and who has walked with me as well through the past 8 years. She is an incredibly hard worker and has gut instincts that recently helped me settle a really hard situation in mediation.
I can't recommend the whole team at Puryear, Newman & Morton highly enough - they are ALL incredible to work with and ultimately fight for what's best for everyone in the long run.

Phil was highly recommended to me by a long-time friend who had recently gone through a divorce and was in a very similar situation to mine. I have two young boys and was the breadwinner in my household, which is very relevant because I had a hard time accepting the role reversal of my situation. I knew within 5 minutes of sitting down with Phil and his paralegal, Julie, that I didn’t need to look any further. Phil is a busy lawyer (which means he’s good lawyer) so he can be hard to pin down at times, BUT he was always there when I needed him – responding to texts and phone calls at night, early morning and over the weekend. He and Julie not only counseled me through the technical aspects of the divorce, but the emotional aspects as well. Phil would empathize with me and validate my feelings, but he also told me what I needed to hear even if it wasn’t what I wanted to hear. Thankfully, we were able to settle my divorce in mediation. Phil took time to explain the mediation process to me and ensure I was well prepped – both materially and emotionally. The mediation was 11 grueling hours . There was one point when we were negotiating alimony – a real sticking point for me – when Phil looked me straight in the eye and said, “Tracy, that’s a good deal. You need to take it.” I didn’t like it but I took it. No questions asked. And, this is representative of how my whole process went. Throughout one of the most difficult periods of my life when I was at my most vulnerable, Phil was my rock and my protector. I felt strong because I had Phil and Julie in my corner. On one hand, I’m grateful my divorce didn’t end up in court, but on the other hand, I would have loved to see him in action in that setting. He’s strong advocate, great listener and fierce negotiator, but best of all…he’s an overall wonderful human. I would recommend Phil over and over again.

I was on the search for a lawyer that I could not only trust but one that I knew understood my heart for the situation and would fight hard for me to get it. From the very beginning Dana spent time learning the whole backstory of my case as well as listening to what I wanted most out of the situation as well as my fears. He was very clear about what might/might not happen and what to expect. On the day of I was impressed with the way he quickly made sure that the other party knew what I would and wouldn’t stand for making the rest of the process easy. He maneuvered through every obstacle with ease while explaining everything to me along the way. I have no regrets and was able to leave feeling like I was represented perfectly. HIGHLY recommend.

I called Dana and hired him to represent a family member in a DUI case. Dana looked at all of the discovery materials and one thing didn’t quite feel right to him. He requested follow up documentation from the DA’s office, who stalled and deferred for close to a year, postponing court dates multiple times. Dana didn’t back off, and the DA finally admitted that he didn’t have the media Dana was requesting.
He negotiated a favorable plea agreement that was far better than what we thought was possible. I’d hire Dana again without hesitation.

If you need an attorney, Dana is the one you need to hire. Dana was referred to me from a friend and WOW, what a great choice. From the first time we spoke on the phone until my court date was over, he was top notch. I've used many attorneys throughout life and he is by far the best I've used. If you are in need of a great attorney that will put your mind at ease, look no further. I had a probation violation in Franklin and it couldn't have went better. The way he handled himself in the courtroom to the way he always responded to my texts/calls, I never felt alone in my case and always felt he was fighting for me. He never once judged me but only defended me. He is a straight shooter and will get to the point. Definitely look no further if you are in need of an attorney. I will be using and referring Dana from now on with any case. Just nice to have someone actually fight for you and your case. I would absolutely recommend Chris. The charges I was dealing with were serious and I could have faced serious jail or prison time. Chris got me an outcome that is better than I could have imagined. One case was dismissed. The other had judgment deferred and will be dismissed after completing probation. I'm happy to be moving forward with my life and am so glad my family hired Chris.

Worst experience. Lawyer showed up 40 minutes late to courtroom, joked/fist bumped with the cops and prosecutor and did exactly nothing for me. I got to watch defendants for speeding tickets before me get the same options as I did, while he made away with my money. Stay away

I can not say enough good things about Mr. Patterson! I was going through a horrendous separation and did something extremely stupid which led to a felony charge. A friend told me about Travis. I had little to no money at the time of our consultation. Travis was still willing to take my case and allow me to make payments. He's straight forward, honest, efficient, professional, encouraging and makes you feel like you're his #1 priority. His knowledge of the law is outstanding and he explains things in laymen terms for people like me who don't always understand it. My spouse hired a high-powered "celebrity" attorney and was planning on putting me "through the ringer" and was planning to take our child out of state with the man she was having an affair with. Mr. Fort stood toe-to -toe with her council and was able to get me everything I asked for. He is very knowledgeable and understands the law and formulates an amazing strategy. Thanks to him I have 50/50 custody without having to concede any other demands. He and Misti (paralegal) are strong communicators who will answer very promptly (always within an hour) with concrete advice. Obviously each case is different but if you are totally 100% open and honest, Mike will fight for you. I would recommend Mike to anyone who is in need of a top-notch lawyer.

I consulted with a few different attorneys in Franklin & Crystal was the only one that made me feel as if she really was listening to what I was saying. The others, for the most part, made me feel as if we were being timed & I had to race through my situation.
I hired Crystal after about a month when I was ready to file for divorce. She walked me through all of the scenarios & her paralegal gave me a bunch of information to help me when I needed to refer to if I needed it, which I found so helpful.
I’m still going through the divorce process but they’ve made me feel like I’m not alone.
Crystal is a straight shooter which I like. She doesn’t charge for every little thing and she genuinely wants the best for me & my two kids. I can feel that with every conversation I have with her. I can’t imagine going through this process with any other attorney.

Cannot give enough credit or positive feedback for Mrs. Etue and her staff, especially Erin. They are what a lawyer should be when it comes to truly knowing and advocating for their client. They took the time to truly get to know me, my situation which two previous attorneys had blundered horribly, and then on principle, dug in and scratched and used their extensive understanding of the law to clear the minefield my ex had laid out. They saw the truth, dug hard to get the facts and evidence to support it and overcome opposing sides efforts to conceal and hide crucial materials. I had almost been broken by the process and stress, but they gave me a glimmer of hope, then fed it and worked so hard to stand up to the opposing side, and now, we clearly are in an incredible position to get the results we sought and then some because they fought the right fight and took a stand against an opposing side based on values and principles. You cannot go wrong hiring Mrs. Etue, just be honest, forthcoming NO MATTER WHAT, because they are the poster child for integrity and can handle anything put forth as long as they aren't blindsided. You'll actually enjoy speaking to your attorney and NEVER feel like they just adding dollar signs to your bill. VERY BEST HANDS DOWN!!!!

I went into this with an attorney from a different city and then Ms Poland was recommended to me. To be honest, I had spent so many years terrified, this had gone on so long, I was scared to call her office. But so glad that I did.
Ms Poland was amazing, had compassion and empathy, she listened to understand, explained everything, went above and beyond to see this through. Kate was very important in helping my son navigate the system. We are from a different state and found ourselves in uncharted waters. I want to tell everyone how awesome Raquel Abel is. I was going to lose my daughter but Raquel came in and helped me gain full custody of my daughter. Suzanne and her team were wonderful. If you need an attorney you need to contact her. The response to my questions or concerns were always quick. Since I've never gone through something like this before it's exactly what I needed. I didn't want to sit and wait for answers. There was so much to deal with Suzanne and her team were on top of everything. She would let me know if she was going to be out of town but that didn't slow down her replying to my emails. Just outstanding service and respect from the entire staff. She was also a calming influence when the other attorney was slow to move things forward. She could tell I was getting anxious. Suzanne explained what was going on and politely reached out to the other attorney to move the process forward. I always felt like they cared about me and wanted to make this a less stressful process and they did.

Suzanne and her firm quickly become like family. They do their best to keep fees down (she's not a magician, and it can be expensive, but that depends on how the opposing team acts and how much work you're willing to do on your own, how organized you are-and how well you LISTEN). She'll be upfront and honest about what can happen, even if it's not what you want to hear. She won't promise something if she's not certain she can deliver. She and her firm are some of the few attorneys in the Memphis area who understand what to expect and what to do in a domestic violence situation.
My case was both contentious and complicated (involving 2 states), but she took charge after being hired mid-case and worked at warp speed (as far as courts are concerned). I never once set foot in a court room until the final hearing where my divorce was granted. I still consult with her and her associate as things come up, as I still have a little guy to protect.
Landers Firm is the ONLY family law firm in Memphis that I would personally recommend. My only regret was that I didn't find her until after I had already filed.

Mrs. Trujillo is someone who is ready to fight for you and will do everything she can to help you. She was a huge blessing to my family as we fought for custody of my son during my divorce proceedings. She has a flamboyant style and is always thinking ahead. I had a DUI 2nd offense, violation of implied consent, and speeding charge. On top of this I was trying to move. Daniel got my case pushed back several months so I could settle in my new home and then eventually had it dropped down to just a 1st Offense and speeding. He really puts the effort in!

In both instances, Taylor's commitment to my sense of justice, my future and correcting an error (per Army Regulations, AR 635-8 and AR 601-210) have done everything towards, what I believe standing up for a Lower Enlisted Soldier. I met Patrick when he was appointed by the court as the attorney for a juvenile who was the subject of a lawsuit between two parents, my ex and me. His job was to investigate the evidence given by both sides and then report his findings and his recommendation to the court regarding what was in the best interest of his client, the juvenile. Patrick was very diligent in his efforts, handled himself professionally, was available for questions and further information gathering on a reasonable basis, and made sure the evidence supported his final recommendation to the court. Neither side could refute his findings. I would highly recommend Patrick.

I was referred to Mr. Britt by another law firm for his expertise regarding probate and property law. Mr. Britt spent considerable time discussing my situation, the legal process surrounding it and the probable outcome and made suggestions regarding my course of action. He told me that he could certainly represent me in court but said that in all honesty I did not need this because I had no legal rights in the matter. In essence, he was saying that it would not be a wise use of money to hire him since in all likelihood, it would not make a difference in the outcome in this case. I brought up many points and angles for which I sought clarification and Mr. Britt was knowledgeable and experienced in all areas. He was certainly professional and demonstrated legal expertise but at the same time, he was patient and fully present as he listened to me and addressed my concerns. The fact that he treated me with consideration and kindness and told me the truth--that I really did not need his representation--tells me that he conducts himself personally and professionally with honesty and integrity. These character traits are very important to me and because I don't find them so prevalent in today's world, I feel fortunate and blessed to have found an attorney like Mr. Britt. I would certainly recommend him and I plan to retain his services for estate planning and preparing a will.

Chris is phenomenal! I highly recommend him.
My case was probably his first divorce since he has only been practicing a year (if that). I originally had a very seasoned divorce lawyer that had given up on my case for two reasons …. My case was “screwed up” and I had run out of funds to pay him since my husband had refused to pay alimony and child support that was ordered by the Divorcee Referee over a year earlier.
In a nutshell here is what Chris has done for me:
Come in on an already 2 year case with boxes and boxes of evidence filled with financial information that showed marital funds being hidden in multiple businesses and taking the time to not only get familiar with everything but he also did his own investigating. Amazing!
He jumped right in and started dealing with my husbands never ending harassing texts, emails and phone calls. His aggressive emails to opposing counsel put an end to the harassment which finally allowed my kids and me to have a sense of safety that we had gone two years without.
Chris was incredible about getting back to me in a timely manner. Since I was receiving threatening texts and emails almost daily and at all hours of the day there were several times that I had to contact him outside of the normal business hours…this included nights and weekends and he always dealt with the situation immediately.
A few miracles he pulled off….
Had a necessary out of town hostile witness served at the airport the minute they entered Tennessee.
He was able to prove to the judge that marital funds had been hidden in multiple business ventures by my husband and his family members. The Judge joined the family to the case which is something I didn’t even know was possible.
After 10 hours in a contempt hearing regarding harassment and nonpayment of child support and alimony my husband was cuffed in the court room and spent days at 201 Poplar. The money that the Judge set for his bail was ordered to be sent to me. The office that handles this sort of thing didn’t even have protocol for this type of situation because it just never happens.
Switching lawyers terrified me. I recall having a meltdown shortly after I first hired Chris and I realized just how much of a brand new lawyer he was. I thought I had made the biggest mistake of my life and I shared this with him. He told me that what he lacked in experience, he more than made up for in life experiences that some seasoned lawyers have no clue about. He started on day one fighting for my kids and I. My only regret was that I didn’t have him from the start of my divorce.

I hired Candyce Leeper in 2018 to take care of a real estate matter. I had entered into a contract to purchase a home from a private party. I gave her my down payment, paid the property taxes and insurance to her directly and never missed a payment. During the horrible storms we had in 2015 my home took on major damage. Considering my name was not yet on the deed (which was wrong) I was unable to get insurance on my own, Upon contacting the party I was purchasing from about the damage, she called the insurance and they came out and accessed the damage.
I continued to call the owner because I had not heard anything about the damage and she would constantly put me off.
All the while I had black mold growing on the ceiling in my laundry room, not to mention water leaking from an overhead light in the laundry room when it rained. I contacted Ms. Leeper and hired her to represent me and my interest in the property.
Ms. Leeper found out that the insurance company had paid the claim directly to the party I was buying the home from and they did NONE of the repairs.
Ms. Leeper also learned that due to the insurance pay out in 2015. The insurance had been cancelled and the taxes were not being paid! And no other insurance company would insure the house with the current damage.
Long story short, the house ended up becoming condemned due to the black mold Ms. Leeper was able to get my down payment back, all of the insurance monies I had paid over the 4 year period, the taxes I had paid over the 4 year period, as well as damages for my personal property that had been ruined. I was also released from my obligation to buy the house due to breach of contract on the part of the seller.
Ms. Leeper and her staff were superb in responding to my phone calls and walking me through the entire process. I was treated with the utmost respect and really felt that Ms. Leeper was looking out for my best interest.
I have since hired her to set up my will and trust.

Max assisted us with the custody of our Granddaughter. She was with her mother and not being well taken care of. We went to Max and he assured us that we were doing the right thing.
