Easy to get a hold of but slow to do anything. Litagation drags on for no apparent cause. He says he will do something by a certain date but it just does not happen. Very dissappointed but have already paid him over $13,000 so feel trapped.

This was my appointed attorney a few years ago. He was on my case for over a year. Every time I called to speak with him, if he couldn't answer the phone, he always made it a point to call me back in a timely manner. He went above and beyond to explain everything that was happening in a way that I understood. It was my first time ever dealing with courts and lawyers. He was very knowledgeable and did what he could to help me have all charges against me dismissed.

Mr. Butler is a good man. He makes you feel at home with him. He talks to you when you call and knows what he is talking about. He lets you know what is going on. He tells the truth about what he can do for you. I would tell any person looking for a good lawyer to call him.

Never had an issue with getting my tickets dismissed. I simply call, give the rep the citation number and then my debit card number and it's done. (KNOCK ON WOOD) I have never had warrants or fines issued to me.

She's very polite and not intimidating at all yet gets the job done. She seems to be very knowledgeable in her practice. She has always been very nice and welcoming. We'll see how the process goes!

It looks like there are more than one person that have experienced a violation by this law firm a violation of ethics at least. I will be filing a grievance with the state bar association I suggest the rest of you do the same. My 39-year-old husband died of a major heart attack suddenly leaving me and his 5-year-old son alone. I asked Foster Law Firm ( Lonnie Foster ) for help to do the probate.I was charged $2,000, given the affidavits that needed to be filled out and filed with the court. These are firms that are easily found on the Internet and free to download and orint. I was having trouble filling out the paperwork getting no help from Foster Law firm. My father went ahead and took care of the probate for me because I didn't know how to fill out the paperwork and I wasn't getting any help from my supposed lawyer. When I ask for my $2,000 back Lonnie Foster mailed a signed letter stating the $2,000 was exhausted because of the several hours of work that he had done on my case. He didn't do anything on my case except get up out of his chair and hand me some paperwork to fill out. I'm sure you can imagine your husband passing away suddenly is quite an ordeal. I've lost my house I don't have a job I need all the money I can get. Mr. Foster has taken advantage of a widow, and has performed absolutely no work for me at all. And will not give me back my money. His behavior is reprehensible, please second guess your decision to use him.

If you’re looking for an attorney to be there for you through and through stand by your side. This is not the attorney for you unfortunately. Not only did I barely have any contact with him regarding my cases. Most of the times that I did come into contact with his office is when when they were requesting payments. He always stuck in court I would barely get callbacks from him when I requested them . His assistants said I would need to pay to speak with him when he was busy .When I had a warrant out for my arrest his advice to me was to lay low and to avoid being arrested while he could try to do something for me. I had to leave work for a whole month and not only that he kept pushing my court dates back and I ended up getting picked up and it made me look even worse in front of the judge. He barely defended me in any of my court hearings he would have one statement and after that he would stay silent while the prosecutor had a whole list of things to say about me. Only reason I stuck with him as a lawyer was because I hired his brother initially. Unfortunately after his passing I was not able to get my money back they were going to keep it so I had no choice but to go with him and I regret it fully . He wanted me to sit in jail while I waited for him to fight my case which was practically beat and when I hired him to handle my other case he withdrew after I couldn’t not pay him because I was juggling bills after being released but I was still willing to make small payments. But before I could do so I wanted to speak with him and his assistants requested payment first before I could consult with him. Worst experience I’ve ever had with a paid attorney .

He was always there for me not just as my lawyer, but I also as my friend he even represented me without me having to pay him he was a very good man and he will be very much missed. Thank you Victor para for everything you did for me but you rest in peace and God bless you.

DO NOT HIRE THIS PERSON AND IF HE IS ASSIGNED TO YOU BY THE COURT, BE PREPARED TO LOSE. This person (I don't think he earns the respect of being called a man) looks for the easiest way out and for that reason accepts a lot of court appointed cases. He will NOT do what you ask him to do. He will say is going to bug then doesn't. He also threatens you if you try to question him. If you get arrested and you ask a friend or family to call and just let him know you're in jail and need to speak with him, he will hang up on them. I have reported him to the bar.

I want to thank Attorney Thomas F. Adkisson and Ms. Patty at 2823 E. Southcross Blvd. San Antonio, Texas 78223 for going beyond their line of duty in assisting me with a dilemma. I had an important document that needed to be faxed. My bank at the time wasn't able to fax the document to Bexar County Attorney's District Office downtown. AT & T phone line service servers were down at the time causing problems for a lot of businesses. My bank called Attorney Adkisson's office asking about the fee price to have it faxed for me. No charge! Attorney Adkisson and Ms. Patty were extremely polite, friendly, kind, courteous and professional. I want anyone needing an Attorney or other services to realize this Attorney office proved to me how not only how they do business but also showed the kindness and extreme professionalism of who they are! Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart! 💝 Sincerely, Cynthia G Rodriguez

His secretary who is his sister would answer only when she wanted to and would always say he’s not in office or is out of town. He was never in town. I was fraudulently accused of an assault on a peace officer. Emily took my case and was very thorough in requesting my video evidence, witness statements, and documentation that was pertinent in proving the charges were false. She always instilled confidence that she could get me the best outcome. Communication was excellent, she kept me informed of all proceedings through court appearances and the entire process. Anytime I had a concern or question about the case she would respond to my text messages instantly. Ultimately, she got the charges dismissed. Emily Detoto is at the top of my list if I ever find myself in another terrible situation! Thanks for getting my life back! I highly recommend her to anyone that wants the BEST criminal defense lawyer in Texas, contact “The Texas Warrior Lawyer” Emily Detoto.

I had the unfortunate experience of being charged with a second offense of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI 2nd) following a traffic accident that was witnessed by a police officer. Considering the high stakes of the case, including the almost certain loss of my career, I knew I needed the best legal representation available. At the outset, my case seemed pretty hopeless to me. I had refused all field sobriety tests, but a warrant was obtained, and my blood was taken. The test results showed a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) slightly above the legal limit at the time of booking into Harris County Jail. Fortunately, I immediately retained Emily Munoz Detoto as my attorney, which turned out to be the best decision I could have made. From the start, Emily displayed exceptional professionalism and dedication to my case, and it was evident that she was a seasoned criminal defense attorney. Though her legal advice was blunt at times, it was exactly what I needed to hear. Throughout the entire process, Emily was confidently on-point and kept me informed every step of the way. The attention paid to her by the court and prosecutors was reassuring, and I give her all the credit for the favorable outcome of my case. My initial hope was for her to negotiate with the DA to reduce my charges or secure a pre-trial intervention, but Emily went above and beyond my expectations. She reviewed the evidence with me and laid out a clear strategy that included best and worst-case scenarios. She reassured me that if necessary, she was prepared to hire experts and take the case to trial. Her commitment and attention to detail were outstanding, and she made sure I understood every step of the process. Ultimately, she got my case dismissed entirely without the need for a trial, probation, or job search. Overall, I highly recommend Emily Munoz Detoto to anyone in need of legal representation. She is a true professional who genuinely cares about her clients and is highly capable of achieving the best possible outcome for them. Emily gave me peace of mind throughout the entire process, and I am grateful for the exceptional service she provided. Thanks, Emily, for giving me my life back!

We hired Emily to represent my brother on a Capital Murder case. She was paid 50k. She made many promises and assured us that he was in good hands and that we had nothing to worry about at all. That she knew what she was doing. She visited my brother one time in jail since last year and has failed to communicate with us and him on what is going on. He was offered a plea deal that he had no idea about it what to do when he went to court. She has constantly threaten my family that she is removing her self off case cause she doesn’t like for us to ask questions. She thinks someone is always out to get her. Hiring her has caused more stress and worries than anything. She cant even remember a conversation we had the day before which makes us wonder what’s really going on. She constantly speaking down on us every chance she gets and blocks us for contacting her which is very unprofessional. At this point we don’t even know what she really had been doing on the case.

Hire her she will not let you lie you cannot make up lies. You cannot be vindictive. She will help you down to the bottom. Another lawyer practically stole my money and I ended up with L Gavito. Nope she called me out nowhere to me to go get my kids for the spring break. She will work on your case even when you think she is not. LET HER COOK as they say. If there were zero stars I would choose it! It has taken me 4 years to write a review. I trusted Mescall because we were familiar; he is friends with my former boss, therefore I trusted him to do his job! I found out my divorce was final days before, and I never received the cash settlement I was entitled to and part of the decree. When I called Mescall to inquire about it, he literally yelled at me and hung up on me. Four years later, no cash settlement and no further communication with him. And, I will say he is unprofessional due to the banter of politics and his dislike of his exwife in conversations that I pretty sure cost me money.

I never do reviews but I wish my husband and I would have been warned before hiring this firm. Mr. Craig is a very nice person and told us exactly what we wanted to hear on day one. After we paid him that was it. Nothing was done on our child custody case for a solid year! No return phones call or emails and we tried both. Our last trip to court which was 2 months shy of 2 years calling and begging for him to do something. Finally we went to court and the judge ruled the next day and neither him or his office called to relay the judges decision. The other parent in the custody suit told us the judge’s ruling. It’s been 2 weeks now and still no call nor email. This is the worst firm I’ve ever had dealings with. Go with a different attorney.

Please listen as I tell you a true story. Lara saved my life. I was facing 25 years to life and I was innocent. I didn’t know what to do. Never been in a situation like this before in my life. When Lara first approached me with my case and she looked into it and we spoke thru the glass window in jail. She said Luis I’m going to fight for you. I will do everything in my power to prove your innocence. She got her investigators and her team in the office to work for me. she worked so hard she came to visit me and update me on how everything was going. At the end we came out with a victory. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who definitely needs help. She will actually listen to you and your story. God bless Lara and her Team.

What a Juvenile Law Lawyer Can Do for You

A juvenile law lawyer specializes in legal issues involving minors, including those facing criminal charges, child welfare matters, or status offenses (like truancy or curfew violations). Juvenile law lawyers aim to protect the rights of minors and advocate for rehabilitation rather than punishment in criminal cases. They also help families navigate child custody, abuse, neglect cases, and other legal matters involving children.

If your child is facing criminal charges, or you are involved in a child welfare case, a juvenile law lawyer can help protect your child’s rights and work toward the most favorable outcome.

When Should I Hire a Juvenile Law Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a juvenile law lawyer in the following situations where minors are involved in legal matters:

  • Juvenile criminal charges: If your child is accused of a crime, such as theft, assault, or drug offenses, a juvenile lawyer can represent them in juvenile court, advocating for leniency and alternatives to detention.
  • Delinquency proceedings: A lawyer can help navigate delinquency charges, defending your child’s rights and seeking rehabilitative outcomes like counseling, probation, or diversion programs instead of incarceration.
  • Status offenses: If your child has committed a status offense, such as truancy, running away, or underage drinking, a lawyer can help you resolve these issues in juvenile court, often focusing on rehabilitation rather than punishment.
  • School disciplinary issues: If your child is facing school suspensions, expulsions, or other disciplinary actions, a lawyer can help protect their educational rights and challenge any unfair or unlawful school policies.
  • Child protective services (CPS) investigations: If your family is being investigated by CPS for alleged abuse, neglect, or dependency, a lawyer can represent you and protect your child’s rights throughout the investigation.
  • Custody disputes: A lawyer can help in cases involving child custody or guardianship disputes, ensuring the child’s best interests are prioritized and advocating for the child’s rights.
  • Emancipation: If your child seeks legal emancipation from their parents or guardians, a lawyer can assist in navigating the legal process and help the child understand their rights and responsibilities.

Hiring a lawyer early in the legal process ensures that your child’s rights are protected and that the best possible outcomes are pursued.

What Does a Juvenile Law Lawyer Do?

A juvenile law lawyer provides various services to help minors and their families navigate the legal system. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Representing minors in court: A lawyer will represent your child in juvenile court, advocating for their rights and seeking rehabilitative outcomes rather than punitive measures.
  • Filing motions and legal paperwork: The lawyer handles all necessary legal filings, including petitions, responses, and motions to dismiss charges or suppress evidence.
  • Negotiating with prosecutors: In some cases, a lawyer can negotiate plea deals or diversion programs that prevent the child from having a permanent criminal record or serving time in detention.
  • Advising on rehabilitation programs: Juvenile law lawyers often focus on alternatives to incarceration, such as counseling, community service, or probation, helping minors avoid long-term legal consequences.
  • Handling CPS and child welfare cases: If your family is involved in a CPS investigation or child welfare case, the lawyer can advocate for your child’s safety and well-being, ensuring that their rights are upheld.
  • Defending minors against school discipline: A lawyer can help challenge unfair or excessive disciplinary actions taken by schools, ensuring that your child’s educational rights are protected.
  • Advising families on legal options: A lawyer will explain the juvenile legal process to families, offering advice on the best legal strategies and what to expect during the case.

How Are Juvenile Law Lawyers Paid?

Juvenile law lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the time involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: Many juvenile law lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For simpler cases, such as status offenses or school disciplinary hearings, a lawyer may charge a flat fee that covers all legal services related to the case.
  • Retainer: In more complex cases, such as defending against serious criminal charges or handling a long-term CPS investigation, a lawyer may require a retainer, which is an upfront payment billed against as they work on the case.
  • Sliding scale or pro bono services: Some juvenile law lawyers offer sliding scale fees based on income or may provide pro bono (free) services for families who cannot afford to pay full legal fees, especially in cases involving child welfare or delinquency.

Discuss the lawyer’s fee structure during your consultation to understand the total cost and payment options.

How Much Does a Juvenile Law Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a juvenile law lawyer depends on the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the time involved. General cost estimates include:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice law and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for juvenile law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in juvenile law and have successfully handled cases similar to yours.

  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on juvenile law matters.
  • Check for certifications or memberships: Look for memberships in organizations like the National Juvenile Defender Center (NJDC) or certifications in juvenile law, which can indicate a lawyer’s dedication to representing minors.
