Heather at HLP was extremely helpful navigating me through my first "legal experience" experience last year, turning what could have been a huge headache into a painless experience. She was persistent and assertive, while also being courteous and very professional towards the other party involved. Thank you Heather!

I really do not know Mr. Moore, but Robin Emmans is one heck of a criminal defense attorney. She knows More, than John Grisham and Fredrick Lanier Gause Junior in Tennessee put together. I was very impressed. Plus, she works probono like me as a teacher. One Saturday out of the month the attorneys take turns at the Yakima Valley Downtown Library. She will inform you of your rights, and tell you the best opinions under a person's particular circumstances. Believe it or not some people are innocent until proven guilty. The ones that are guilty tend to change when they are raised up emotionally, instead of reticuled for wrong doing or simply being a part of an impoverished society. We are the change, and this law firm really stands out to make a difference.

Robert Russell and his office were spectacular. I would hands down hire him again and highly recommend his office. He thoroughly outlined the process and what was to be expected. He is a straight shooter, to the point, and very professional. He is a great communicator and listener. He called me on time for every phone call we had scheduled, he was prompt in responding to my emails. He followed up with me timely and immediately let me know the results of my case when they were available to him. I am very pleased with the outcome as it was just as he expected it to be. He was highly compassionate and caring about my case and situation. Hands down the best lawyer I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.

Eric is a great attorney. I had a jobsite accident, that had very challenging legal complications. He worked hard, found all the necessary laws and witnesses. Kept me informed returned calls and Emails quickly. We settled out of court, and he got me my settlement money much sooner than I anticipated. In short if you need a good lawyer, one that will work hard for you and get you what you need.. This is the one....Call him!

After another driver swerved into the side of my son's car, during his work related delivery, we waited for the check that would cover damages and lost wages. I followed up by phone with and sent emails asking for resolution. We'd tried for two months and felt ignored with excuses for all the delay. We turned to Ladenburg Law for help and in a week, Erik was able to get the first $2800 for the car repairs to my son. They subsequently got the $1300 lost wages as well. I felt like I was actually seen as a person, that my concern mattered. I am grateful to have had the support of Ladenburg Law - thank you for your responsiveness and great turnaround - it was a definite win for my son!

Was always available, mostly through email, but calls were always available and he is very professional and personable. I recently worked with Patrick Lackie, and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Facing a potential DUI conviction, I was overwhelmed and unsure of what to expect. From the start, he demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and genuine care for my situation. He worked persistently to negotiatewith the prosecutor, and advocate for me. Thanks to his efforts, my charge was reduced to a non-criminal offense. This was a significant improvement that saved me from harsher penalties and long-term consequences. Throughout the process, Patrick Lackie kept me informed, answered all my questions, and guided me with clarity and confidence. He truly went above and beyond to ensure the best possible outcome. If you’re looking for a skilled, compassionate, and dedicated attorney, I wholeheartedly recommend Patrick Lackie. I am incredibly grateful.

Ms Mortensen can be relied upon to fully engage in your case. In the particular case I was involve in she read hundreds of pages of documents to come up to speed on all the issues over a single weekend. There were safety issues in the case that were clearly her priority at all times. Unfortunately, things did not work out the way I had hoped but the child's welfare was never anything but number one for this respected family attorney. My old attorney was not helping me Priscilla vagga was the worst. She always filed a continuous all the time. The last straw was when she was helping my ex husband with what he needed to file against me. I FIRED her and went and talked to Robin Andrews and it was the best desision I ever made. She is like a lion and fights for you. You have to be 120% honest with her, which I was and my ex husband lied to his attorney and Robin would always call him out with proof making my ex look stupid and his attorney embarrassed. Robin helped me move out of state with my kids (which is not easy there was a chance i would be denied but my ex attorney was not prepared) I was granted my relocation. Now we are all happy and I still have Robin as my attorney so she can go to court on my behalf because the custody battle is still open in WA. I live in Texas now and my ex cries about every little thing and we have to have our attorneys be the medium. She does her own work and when ever you have concerns she will get back to you and explain everything you have questions about. Shes been my attorney going on 2 years and I couldn't be more happy about it.

Mrs. Rosey Thurman is an attorney like no other that you would meet if you ever work with her. Not only is she 100% committed to you as her client; she actually cares for you as a human being. Mrs. Thurman is very honest with you about the potential outcome of your case but also does everything she can to have a positive outcome for your case. She is committed! When you sign a retainer with Mrs. Thurman for your case, you won't regret it. She is the best out there. In the courtroom, Rosey is quick to listen and slow to speak. She holds the court in high regard as it should be. Mrs. Thurman also will be very thorough in helping explain the law and proceeders more than most attorneys with you if that is what you desire. If you have questions...Mrs, Thurman takes the time to answer them! Also, if you desire to aid in your own defense Mrs. Thurman respects that and includes you. She will teach you in the process if you let her and if you desire to do learn. Mrs. Thurman is a humble attorney and she is sacrificial in her time to you as her client. She tells you the facts straight, and if she is not as knowledgable in an area regarding your case she is not fearful to tell you that and also reach out to other attorneys in her profession to learn more so that you as the client may benefit. Mrs. Thurman's goal is to always treat the opposing side with respect and stick to the facts only. She stands upright and leads the case in truth and respect. All Mrs. Thurman desires to let the truth be put in the hands of the court and let them decide. Mrs. Thurman stands upright in the way she conducts herself as an attorney and also to the way she treats the opposing side. She will not compromise by game playing and deceitful ways. Mrs. Thurman uses wisdom and discernment. Mrs. Thurman truly is looking out for the best interest of you as her client. Mrs. Thurman is great at what she does, and most importantly she cares about you. I would recommend Mrs. Thurman because she is reliable, honest, wise, humble, committed, and heartfelt at what she does. Truly, if you retain Mrs. Thurman win or loss you will not regret it! I hope you all find her as I do because there is truly not many like her as an attorney!

Ruth also employees us, (ie,) cleaning, yard & housekeeping work for her and her husband (family). She's a neat person, very intelligent/knowledgeable..most of all, real and down to earth! There is nothing this woman cannot do!- She's a real estate advisor, attorney, plus so much more! I'm sad we lost contact with her. She inspired us but mostly impressed & encouraged us when we really needed it. We really hope we can get back in touch with her. He listened to the us and worked diligently to investigate facts. He never pushed his client to take a deal, he presented options and followed our wishes, even when there was very little hope. With a show of force from the police in the court room against us he took the case to trial in superior court. We could not be happier with the level of tenacity he showed - he objected left and right and made the prosecutor pissed and flustered. He did his homework and it showed. His objections were sustained way more often than over-ruled. This gentleman knows his stuff and he is not afraid to use it! In a jury trial in an uphill battle - he WON! He did a fantastic job and most of all was super respectful. I've worked with other defenders that were complete jerks and spoke to me like i was a six year old and owed them something. I highly recommend Scott Charlton. I can't thank him enough!

Kristen helped me with a family law case vs. CFS about 7 years ago. I was being wrongfully accused of neglecting my special needs child and CFS was attempting to gain permanent custody. Kristen was able to assist me with getting the case dropped and my child returned to me. Thankfully I have not been in the position to need a lawyer since, but if I did, she would be my first choice. She was knowledgeable and really good at explaining to me what was happening and what my options were. She was a very good support in a very tough situation and I appreciate her very much.

I don't know where to begin when I explain how amazing of an attorney Anne is. There was so much more going on behind the scenes than I ever realized. With and at times without my knowing, she went above and beyond in s many ways. She actually takes time whether it's Labor Day weekend, any weekend or evening to get back to you and thoroughly answer your questions (which I have a lot of by the way) - She truly cares and is interested in you as a client not just for monies, she's organized, prompt, very motivated and even with her many years of experience, still carries the passion for justice. I can't say enough about how fantastic she is. What I personally liked best about her is that she's down to earth and plain cool! Not at all some stuck up attorney who thinks they're on a higher level of life than you. What else can I say? She's awesome in every single way. I highly recommend Anne to any and everyone that needs a standup, caring attorney that's plain AWESOME in the courtroom. Thank you Anne!

I had Mrs. Poliquin about 5 years ago. she was amazing. she worked my case relentlessly and got me the best resolution possible without allowing me to fall into any of the deal traps the prosecuting attorney was trying to offer. she was always friendly and happy to take a deluge of calls from this frightened client. I could not ask for a better attorney. thank you!

What a Juvenile Law Lawyer Can Do for You

A juvenile law lawyer specializes in legal issues involving minors, including those facing criminal charges, child welfare matters, or status offenses (like truancy or curfew violations). Juvenile law lawyers aim to protect the rights of minors and advocate for rehabilitation rather than punishment in criminal cases. They also help families navigate child custody, abuse, neglect cases, and other legal matters involving children.

If your child is facing criminal charges, or you are involved in a child welfare case, a juvenile law lawyer can help protect your child’s rights and work toward the most favorable outcome.

When Should I Hire a Juvenile Law Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a juvenile law lawyer in the following situations where minors are involved in legal matters:

  • Juvenile criminal charges: If your child is accused of a crime, such as theft, assault, or drug offenses, a juvenile lawyer can represent them in juvenile court, advocating for leniency and alternatives to detention.
  • Delinquency proceedings: A lawyer can help navigate delinquency charges, defending your child’s rights and seeking rehabilitative outcomes like counseling, probation, or diversion programs instead of incarceration.
  • Status offenses: If your child has committed a status offense, such as truancy, running away, or underage drinking, a lawyer can help you resolve these issues in juvenile court, often focusing on rehabilitation rather than punishment.
  • School disciplinary issues: If your child is facing school suspensions, expulsions, or other disciplinary actions, a lawyer can help protect their educational rights and challenge any unfair or unlawful school policies.
  • Child protective services (CPS) investigations: If your family is being investigated by CPS for alleged abuse, neglect, or dependency, a lawyer can represent you and protect your child’s rights throughout the investigation.
  • Custody disputes: A lawyer can help in cases involving child custody or guardianship disputes, ensuring the child’s best interests are prioritized and advocating for the child’s rights.
  • Emancipation: If your child seeks legal emancipation from their parents or guardians, a lawyer can assist in navigating the legal process and help the child understand their rights and responsibilities.

Hiring a lawyer early in the legal process ensures that your child’s rights are protected and that the best possible outcomes are pursued.

What Does a Juvenile Law Lawyer Do?

A juvenile law lawyer provides various services to help minors and their families navigate the legal system. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Representing minors in court: A lawyer will represent your child in juvenile court, advocating for their rights and seeking rehabilitative outcomes rather than punitive measures.
  • Filing motions and legal paperwork: The lawyer handles all necessary legal filings, including petitions, responses, and motions to dismiss charges or suppress evidence.
  • Negotiating with prosecutors: In some cases, a lawyer can negotiate plea deals or diversion programs that prevent the child from having a permanent criminal record or serving time in detention.
  • Advising on rehabilitation programs: Juvenile law lawyers often focus on alternatives to incarceration, such as counseling, community service, or probation, helping minors avoid long-term legal consequences.
  • Handling CPS and child welfare cases: If your family is involved in a CPS investigation or child welfare case, the lawyer can advocate for your child’s safety and well-being, ensuring that their rights are upheld.
  • Defending minors against school discipline: A lawyer can help challenge unfair or excessive disciplinary actions taken by schools, ensuring that your child’s educational rights are protected.
  • Advising families on legal options: A lawyer will explain the juvenile legal process to families, offering advice on the best legal strategies and what to expect during the case.

How Are Juvenile Law Lawyers Paid?

Juvenile law lawyers typically charge for their services based on the complexity of the case and the time involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rate: Many juvenile law lawyers charge by the hour, with rates ranging from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the lawyer’s experience and location.
  • Flat fee: For simpler cases, such as status offenses or school disciplinary hearings, a lawyer may charge a flat fee that covers all legal services related to the case.
  • Retainer: In more complex cases, such as defending against serious criminal charges or handling a long-term CPS investigation, a lawyer may require a retainer, which is an upfront payment billed against as they work on the case.
  • Sliding scale or pro bono services: Some juvenile law lawyers offer sliding scale fees based on income or may provide pro bono (free) services for families who cannot afford to pay full legal fees, especially in cases involving child welfare or delinquency.

Discuss the lawyer’s fee structure during your consultation to understand the total cost and payment options.

How Much Does a Juvenile Law Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a juvenile law lawyer depends on the complexity of the case, the lawyer’s experience, and the time involved. General cost estimates include:

  • Juvenile criminal cases: Legal fees for defending a minor in juvenile criminal cases can range from $2,000 to $10,000 or more, depending on the severity of the charges and whether the case goes to trial.
  • Status offenses: For cases involving minor offenses such as truancy or underage drinking, legal fees typically range from $1,500 to $5,000.
  • CPS or child welfare cases: Legal fees for representing families in CPS investigations or child welfare cases can range from $2,000 to $8,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case.
  • School disciplinary hearings: Legal fees for representing students in school-related issues may range from $1,000 to $3,500, depending on the legal work required.

Make sure to get a clear estimate of costs during your initial consultation to ensure you understand the full scope of fees and services.

Top Questions to Ask a Juvenile Law Lawyer

Before hiring a juvenile law lawyer, it’s important to ask key questions to ensure they have the experience and expertise to handle your child’s case effectively. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with juvenile law cases?
Make sure the lawyer has handled cases similar to yours, whether it’s juvenile delinquency, child custody, or CPS investigations.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, offers flat fees, or requires a retainer. Ask for a detailed estimate of the total cost.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my child’s case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of the case, including potential challenges and likely outcomes.
  4. How long will the process take?
Juvenile cases can vary in duration, so ask the lawyer how long they expect the process to last and what factors might affect the timeline.
  5. Will you personally handle my child’s case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of the case. Make sure you know who will be managing the case and representing your child in court.
  6. What rights does my child have?
Ask the lawyer to explain your child’s legal rights, including their rights during police questioning, school disciplinary actions, and court proceedings.

How to Check the Credibility of a Juvenile Law Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable juvenile law lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and experience:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice law and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for juvenile law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in juvenile law and have successfully handled cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate in juvenile cases.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on juvenile law matters.
  • Check for certifications or memberships: Look for memberships in organizations like the National Juvenile Defender Center (NJDC) or certifications in juvenile law, which can indicate a lawyer’s dedication to representing minors.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a juvenile law lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Court documents: Bring any legal documents related to your child’s case, such as summons, complaints, or court orders.
  • School records: Provide any relevant school records, including disciplinary reports, attendance records, and communications from school officials.
  • CPS or investigation reports: If your case involves child welfare, bring any reports or documentation from CPS or other investigating agencies.
  • Timeline of events: Prepare a detailed timeline of events related to your child’s legal issue, including interactions with authorities or school officials.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Write down any questions about the legal process, your child’s rights, and potential outcomes for the case.

Being well-prepared will help the lawyer assess your child’s situation more effectively and provide the best possible legal advice tailored to your needs.
