I'm shocked to read **any** negative reviews about Scott Miller. He has been my attorney for over 10 years. I first hired him to help me with a real estate rental matter with a rental property I leased. Although it was small claims, he helped me prepare and win my case and I got all my deposit back and successfully fought off the landlord attorney. Immediately following that I bought a home that had major mold problems and was very complicated. Scott was fully prepared and helped me throughout the entire two year ordeal. Thanks to Scott, that matter was ultimately successfully settled with the prior owners. My last big case was in another state. Scott helped me by interviewing attorneys in that state and helped me hire the right guy. He was just as good as Scott and that one was also successful. Scott stayed on top of that attorney, too, to make sure that the case was moving along with integrity. Scott has consistently demonstrated integrity, honesty and excellent, thorough customer service. He also helped me save money by delegating work that I could do instead of a paralegal. His billing has always been correct and fair. As a professional engineer in private practice, educator, consultant, and subject matter expert in safety and risk management since 1972, I’ve had an opportunity to provide technical assistance and expert opinions to more than 1,200 lawyers, ranging from sole-practitioners to major national law firms. I only mention this because I believe that few clients know what qualities (beside fees) are truly important when selecting an attorney.
I have almost four decades experience working with attorneys. Personally, I rely on my lifetime learning experience gained while providing administrative law and expert witnessing services when offering my opinions to others looking for an attorney (and on that rare occasion when I need to lawyer). That is, any lawyer (not just the law firm itself) I would recommend or hire must be a good listener, have an excellent professional standing within the legal community, attorneys who love the work more than themselves, and one who will carefully prepare the pleadings, promptly complete discovery, and put the case at issue without needing the court’s probing – then an attorney who wants to get your case in front of the Trier-of-fact and then (utmost importance) be prepared for trail with trial and exhibit binders as well as know the evidence needed to present your case and effectively cross-examine your adversary.

Very few attorneys listen and understand. Mr. Gonter is one of them. He will listen to you as a person, then make a knowledgeable decision on how to proceed in your best interests, explaining the process along the way. Mr. Gonter did an excellent job representing our corporation and was understanding of our concerns.
Most importantly, he's well respected by fellow attorneys and judges. His stellar reputation and intelligent approach leads to favorable results.
I used to be impressed by descriptions like "aggressive" and theatrical attorneys whose shot gun style ends up more noise than result. But after seeing Mr. Gonter in action, I was convinced his professional and respectful approach separates him from the cookie cutter attorneys in our area. Lots of attorneys will say they "will do this" and "do that" for you, the difference is Mr. Gonter actually DOES whats right and what works. I'm very satisfied as a client.

I had an amazing experience working with Jonah.

I was referred to Shin Law Group and Jonathan through a family member that was actually sued by his group due to a car accident (they got 25k for a SCRATCH against my family member) and boy am I happy to say, that things were as smooth as they come using their firm. Mr. Maroko was my Family Law Attorney more that 30 years ago advising and helping me in matters related to child custody and child support. Although his practice has expanded far beyond what my needs were back then I just wanted to say in reflection these many years later how his honesty, ethics, and skill in the courtroom resolved satisfactorily what was best for my baby daughter. My mom was in assisted living, and needed to have a new Power of Attorney and Advanced Healthcare Directive. The existing ones were over 10 years old, and given her dementia, I had to legally be able to handle my mom's affairs. I initially had trouble finding an attorney who would do this, but after Lorraine and I met through LinkedIn, she agreed to do the Power of Attorney and Advanced Healthcare Directive. She did both the long and short form Powers of Attorney, to make sure my mom and I would be well covered for any situation. Her fee was extremely reasonable, considering the time she spent preparing all of the documents, and the travel time for the round trip to and from the assisted living facility, which was 60 miles each way. Lorraine treated my mom like her own mother during the time spent signing the documents at the assisted living facility. Her patience and kindness towards my mom was heart warming to say the least. I had occasions where either the long or short form Power of Attorney had to be submitted to the insurance company or to the bank on my mom's behalf, and there were never any issues. Lorraine was fantastic in every way, and I very highly recommend her to anyone.

My wife and I hired Mr. Smits to sue a contractor who negligently remodeled our home. Mr. Smits was thorough and aggressive in his representation of us. He investigated the contractor and learned the contractor was unlicensed, and based on his investigation, Mr. Smits pursued the contractor for fraud. Mr. Smits obtained a judgement against the contractor for every penny we sought and punitive damages as well. Mr. Smits is an excellent attorney and we have recommended him to our business associates and friends.

David is simply one of the most capable and honest lawyers I have met. I have worked with him for almost 2 years during my divorce proceedings. He has always put the client and my children's interest first and has worked diligently to resolve my case as efficiently as possible. He has the integrity and fairness that unfortunately lost on most lawyers today. His advice has always been right on. His paralegal Daniel Ellison is better than 90% of lawyers I have met and should be given an honorary "JD" himself! The two combined with the other assets of the firm Hughes & Hughes make them, in my opinion, the best family law firm in Orange County if not in all of Los Angeles.
