As a small business owner it is crucial to have a relationship with an attorney who has the right combination of experience, integrity and knowledge. Based on my involvements with Cathy Kazemi, I can confidently label her as an outstanding all-around lawyer.
Our business has had a couple of unfortunate cases come our way over the past few years in which we were required to solicit the services of a legal professional. In the past we tried out a few local attorneys and experienced disastrous results. It seemed that they barely even lifted a figure to help us despite charging outrageous amounts of money. I was reffered to her by my friend, and I had very complex case and you do not want to know how much I was sued. In my head I was getting ready for bankruptcy until I met her. She look at my case and wrote very small amount on the paper and said to me, are you comfortable with this amount? I said yes and guess what after the stellement I am paying that small amount. And my settlement is the best one in this class action sued case. She did a great job and saved me from bankruptcy and meanwhile she saved me alot of money. I highly recommand her.

We are a very small business that doesn't make a whole lot of money, a large competitor decided to infiltrate our company, steal trade secrets, slander us online and file a frivolous suit against us. We hired an attorney that did a lot of damage to our case and ran our bill up to around $40,000. 90% of it for unnecessary research and communications (mainly with us over billing). We ran asap and were lucky enough to find Ms. Kazemi. She repaired the serious mistakes in our case unbelievably fast when time was running out, and has been extremely fair and understanding regarding cost. We could not ask for a better attorney. She saved us from going completely out of business and has fought hard for us, negotiated well, always communicated with us to tell us what's gone on and really listened to us when we had questions or explanations about anything. I recommend her to anybody that wants a real, honest, hard working attorney that knows how to fight for what is right. They are so hard to find and we are very lucky to have her as our counsel.

During the last five years, I have been in a custody battle with my ex-husband. My ex was pretty much an absentee father for the first seven years of our child's life, and only came back into her life when she got Leukemia. During this time, my ex decided to get re-married to someone he met after returning to Sacramento. My child was mentally, emotionally, and physically abused by my ex and his new wife.
My ex-husband left the military (approximately two years after re-entering our daughter’s life), and decided to take me to court to get his child support lowered and attempt to obtain custody of our daughter. During this time, he lied and attempted to hide the fact he had a severance pay equal to his yearly salary, and was receiving unemployment at the same time. My ex spent the money on home improvements and furniture for him, his wife, and stepchild, instead of saving the money to pay his monthly child support.
Because my ex-husband was in the military, and had never been in trouble with the law, owned a home, and had a new spouse at home, he looked like a great guy on paper. Meanwhile, I am a single mother who was living in an apartment at the time, working full time, and earning my degree, so my ex thought he would look like a better caregiver for our daughter.
My ex hired an attorney with over 35 years of Family court experience, with a specialty in fighting for a father’s parental rights, and I was Mr. Culbreath’s first Family Law case. Thanks to Mr. Culbreath's legal ingenuity, my ex was not able to hide his income and assets, and was ordered to pay a higher amount of child support than he did before he left the military.
Mr. Culbreath was by my side through every attempt my ex-husband tried to get out of his finanacial and parental obligations to my daughter. Mr. Culbreath also obtained an order banning the stepmother from interfering with my daughter’s medical, educational, and religious needs, effectively making my ex take more responsibility for our daughter. I recently hired an attorney and in the middle of my case she quit practicing. My case was turned over to Glenn Ward's office. Paul Matiasic represented me in an accident case where I almost got ripped off by the insurance company. The case took a little longer, but Paul and his team (Justin White) never gave up on me. They called/email every week to make sure I was feeling okay and gave me the status of the case.

I found Mr. Matiasic online and he was the only one of three other lawyers who responded wanting more info. The others did not want to persue the case, thinking it hard to prove. Mr. Matiasic was the only one who asked to meet with me personally to discuss the case and it was only with Mr. Matiasic asking questions and explaining to me the what we needed to prove, that I was able to give him the solid information (photos) that resulted in a successful settlement. He worked with and for me from the initial contact in May 2007 until the settlement in Dec 2007, keeping me appraised at every step of the negotiations. I was more than pleased with the result.

I hired Mr. Daley of the Innocence Legal Team last year (2012). My case was quite unique as there was virtually no case law relating to my situation. Mr. Daley was in constant communication with me in regards to the approach we had to take in order to resolve my issue. He explained to me in detail every aspect of what had to be done, how it would be done and other avenues we may have had to take if our initial case argument wasn't given merit through the case law available at the time. Mr. Daley did an outstanding job of finding pertinent case law that pertained to my situation and was proficient in representing me in court. The outcome was favorable for us and I can not thank him enough for his hard work.
I found Mr. Daley to be honest, communicative and extremely capable in his profession. I have dealt with several other attorneys who were unwilling or unable to provide the same high level standard I expect and received from Mr. Daley. His integrity is beyond reproach based on my experience with him. Mr. Daley has a genuine desire to help and defend people with his legal expertise. When things got stressful, confusing or didn't go as planned (rescheduled court dates, etc....) he took the time to sit down in person or over the phone with me and my family and calm us all down.

I had a medical malpractice case with Martha Taylor. I was extremely pleased with her and her staff. Obviously if you are in need of an attorney in this area of law, something has gone terribly wrong. Our case involved a minor and Martha was very conservative in her spending on expert witnesses medical experts toxicologist etc. That approach gave more money to the client after all involved were paid. All lawsuits take time sometimes years and even though our case presented special challenges she persevered and continued to Persue the best possible outcome. I found her assistant to be quick with call backs and extremely helpful with the sometimes daunting and hard to understand paperwork. I hope this review has been helpful to anyone researching miss Taylor as a potential hire for your malpractice case.

I started with Andrew as my civil lawyer, and after frustration with my family lawyer, I hired Andrew for my family case too. Andrew and his colleague, Lindsey, are the strongest attorneys I would vouch for. Extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and professional. My former attorney made (/forced) me a settlement to share legal and physical custody of my minor. That was nothing but a disappointment. It made my case stretch over and over. When Andrew and Lindsey took over my case, I ended up getting full legal and physical custody of my daughter while the judge was boldly against me in every single hearing and trial. But Andrew navigated the case for me and made me gain full custody of my daughter. Andrew was transparent in presenting the case. He allowed me to express myself in the court. Asked an attorney friend for a recommendation when I received papers alleging breach of contract and lis pendens involving the sale of my home. Of the four recommendations, I narrowed it down to Mr. Benzinger. Best choice I could have made. A blend of James Spader and Andy Griffith, he was effective in his communication with opposing counsel, resulting in a very acceptable settlement out of court and dismissal of all filings. As a professional engineer in private practice, educator, consultant, and subject matter expert in safety and risk management since 1972, I’ve had an opportunity to provide technical assistance and expert opinions to more than 1,200 lawyers, ranging from sole-practitioners to major national law firms. I only mention this because I believe that few clients know what qualities (beside fees) are truly important when selecting an attorney.
I have almost four decades experience working with attorneys. Very few attorneys listen and understand. Mr. Gonter is one of them. He will listen to you as a person, then make a knowledgeable decision on how to proceed in your best interests, explaining the process along the way. Greg has helped me with 5 cases in the past couple years and I have hit home runs each time.
The first of these was a business/employment dispute which I was successful in trial. The defendants appealed, and we in turn also appealed the attorneys fees portion of the case. Greg wrote our appeal and the opposition to their appeal. He is meticulous, well reasoned, and for me 100% successful. He argued our case on appeal. We won on our opposition and we won on our attorneys fees appeal which was remanded to trial court and the fees multiplied as a result.
Greg helped us on two Employment MSJ oppositions, both of which were successful...One in federal court, and one in state court. Both cases were later settled in large part due to the quality of Greg's arguments.
The fourth case in which I received Greg's assistance was an appeal on a trial in which we were successful against one Defendant and unsuccessful against a second - premises liability case. After Greg's thorough briefing on appeal, the respondents called us to settle and gave us everything we requested on appeal plus interest and appellate costs.
Finally, we have one more case pending in appellate court. In this employment case, our case was dismissed out of state court. We appealed using Greg as our appellate counsel. The opposition was so weak that we didn't bother to reply and are currently awaiting argument to be set.

I felt awful when my former employer convinced the trial court to throw out my entire wrongful-termination lawsuit because it appeared that I did not have enough evidence. Things got even worse when my former employer asked the judge to order me to pay a huge sum for its fees and costs in getting a defense judgment.
It all seemed totally wrong when my trial lawyer basically said my case was over. She suggested that I should consider giving up my appellate rights in exchange for my former employer decreasing the amount of money that I was going to owe for fees or costs. I hated that idea, so I looked for an appellate lawyer.
When I called Brendan, he took the time to understand my case. He said he thought the judge misread my evidence and that I had good arguments to get my lawsuit back on track. He also explained the risks and expense of going down that road.
I decided to go for it and followed Brendan's recommendation to ask the trial judge to reconsider the judgment before filing an appeal. Brendan said the odds of a trial court reversing its own ruling in any case are very low, but it was worth a shot in my case. I was overjoyed when the trial court rejected the arguments my former employer made and actually reversed the judgment based on the papers Brendan prepared.
Instead of waiting a year or more for the appellate court to put my case back on track, Brendan made it happen within a couple of months. Better yet, the threat of having to pay for my former employer's costs and fees evaporated right away.
I felt that Brendan explained things to me clearly without any exaggeration. I believe his knowledge of appeals and his litigation and negotiation skills completely turned my case around and enabled me to get a great outcome.

My opponent's attorney in a probate case filed a motion to strike my petition, which the trial court denied. However, because it was a special motion to strike, my opponent was able to file an immediate appeal without waiting for a final judgment. This maneuver could have delayed the entire probate case for a year or two until the appeal was decided, but Brendan was a really strong advocate for me and my family and he stepped in and took aggressive steps to prevent the extended delay. At all times Brendan explained my options to me and kept me up to date about important developments. His efforts helped us to resolve the case more quickly, and I was pleased with his work and the results he helped us to achieve.
To be quite frank - litigation is awful. This case in particular was extremely contentious and exhausting. But Brendan was so kind and so smart, I could at least relax in knowing that I had good counsel. He is a brilliant writer and so skilled - I cannot recommend him highly enough.
