Ms. Keller was suggested to us by a highly respected Federal Defense Attorney and currently a sitting Judge. Ms. Keller demonstrates a depth of knowledge and then extended extraordinary effort on our behalf, while, with Irish wit, and very straight forward lecture, reminding that no one is 100% right, and to correct what might be viewed as a more serious problem in the future. Ms. Keller's parting words "Hope never to see you in my office again" are sincere. Strange to give 5 stars to someone who is so honest? No, is what a client needs from a good attorney. Ms. Keller is what other attorneys should use as a role model.

We sought an attorney for a construction/breach of contract action about three years ago. From the beginning, Mr. Dunn was thorough in understanding the strengths and weaknesses of moving a lawsuit forward, and he was straightforward in his discussions with us. From our knowledge of the industry and his informed communications, we chose to move forward. Mr. Dunn's understanding of this industry and its processes gave credibility and strength to this case each time we questioned whether this was the right decision for us to make. He and his team dissected the entire chain of events that occurred in this case and built strong, efficient defenses [thorough research, witness interviews, clear explanations of complex terminologies, clear and appropriate visual displays for the jury] -- absolutely evident in court as the case progressed forward. Mr. Dunn's ability to understand and react to the evidence presented by the defendants and to turn their case's 'strengths' into support for our case facts was phenomenal. Making a decision to file and pursue a lawsuit is stressful; in spite of this, Mr. Dunn's honesty and forthrightness allowed us to focus on the reasons why we moved forward, assess the possible outcomes, and make solid decisions involving the case, our commitment to pursuing what we felt were miscarriages of the law and, finally, what the outcomes could mean to our company and personal wealth -- important decisions when considering legal actions. We strongly recommend Mr. Dunn when legal action is needed; his commitment to his clients, the legal process, and to his work products have the reliability, thoroughness, knowledge, and trustworthiness necessary to be successful.

When I was an adjuster back in 1992, John started his own law firm. He took what he knew and branched out on his own and never looked back. He was the best attorney I ever worked with at the former law firm he was at so it made perfect sense that he should surround himself with like minded attorneys and did it ever pay off. He has perservered through tough times because his business philosophy is simple - it's based on trust and knowledge.

My mother and I hired Mr. Fieldsted after my father suddenly passed away. We needed his help getting properties not listed in the trust to be put in my moms name/in the trust. We also had him create a new trust for my mom. He was honest and up front about the cost and was very accurate about length of time things would take. Since we liked him so much he has since dissolved an LLC for us, advised us on property sales, had him create a unique power of attorney, and evict a tenant. I highly recommend Mr. Fieldsted.

First ,we had to go in blind finding a attorney from another state to handle my mother's trust. Very nervous not ever meeting him. I read the reviews on this law firm. They were highly rated and now I can see why. I can highly recommend Jacob DeVilliers . He was straight up with us and didn't sugar coat a thing. He told us what we were looking at with ligation over my mother's trust. Again we had to deal with him via email and phone conversations. He handled everything and got exactly what I was promised. I am so glad that we found him. He is a top notch attorney. Thank you again Jacob.

Montage Legal Group saved us probably over a million dollars. Our physician group was the target of a class action lawsuit on balance billing. By acting as an in-house equivalent, Laurie Rowen,a partner of Montage Legal Group, organized a request for proposal from top law firms, helped us interview and choose our defense team, monitored their expenses, took over certain tasks for less than a third of the typical hourly, and helped orchestrate a very cost effective strategy that resulted in a favorable settlement without filing a single motion. Great legal representation is readily available. Great legal representation that is efficient and cost effective is rare. Montage Legal Group was able to make that happen by acting as an in-house equivalent for a fraction of what they saved us.

For over 15 years and during my long stints as in-house counsel at 2 large institutional real estate companies (one publicly traded and the other privately held), I have had the pleasure of working with Mark Kompa. Mark has been a trusted advisor, skilled litigator and practical negotiator on a wide variety of commercial real estate matters including unlawful detainers, breach of lease actions, lease enforcement issues, operating expense disputes and general business litigation. With responsibility for running an in-house legal department, I need an outside counsel who is practical and understands the nuances of our business by achieving results that are cost-beneficial. Mark Kompa is that trusted attorney and I highly recommend Mark to all of my in-house peers.

I am an attorney and I hired Vik to handle my trademark application. What I really like about Vik is that he talks to you like a regular person, explaining technical concepts using layman's terms. From the beginning, Vik was thorough, responsive and very friendly. I felt like I was hiring a trusted friend, rather than a faceless attorney, to handle my matter. Even though my initial trademark application was denied, because another lawyer had the trademark, Vik was creative enough to come up with an equally catchy trademark on his own and we have now achieved success. Thank you so much Vik!

I had an a very old consumer debt that was snowballing. The company had gotten a judgement behind my back without even subpoenaing me to court. I felt powerless to fight back since they had obtained a judgment and a lien on my house already. When they levied my bank account I began searching for legal help by getting the free initial consultations . Laila Thompson was the only attorney who asked me which state I resided in when I originally opened my credit card. She said that the collection company had sued me in the wrong state and that was a violation of federal consumer protection laws. They would actually have to pay me a settlement fee and waive the judgment! It sounds to good to be true but that's the difference between having an attorney actually fight for you and having one who only wants to profit. Laila's fees were also less than a third of what the other attorney had quoted me. The other attorney I met befor I decided to hire Laila, had been more interested in padding his pockets and also had some shiesty additional reoccuring monthly fees which made me worry he would never settle my case in order to keep my money rolling in every month! I was so discouraged after speaking with him but then I found Laila Thompson. She kept me informed during the process and was extremely accessible. She called me once to tell me the collection agency had agreed to waive the judgement and walk away, but she felt she could fight a little more and make the collection agency pay me the settlement due to me under federal law in order to help cover my legal fees. She informed me that the option was mine, but she would keep fighting with my permission. It was truly an amazing experience. I would absolutely recommend her 100%.

I brought my son in and filed a lawsuit against the city and the county. Jon really liked her and trusted her. She was in court with us for the crimminal case and would consult w the public defender. Ultimately because of her stratagy and the public defenders, the case was dropped. I would recommended Blakney to anyone who needed a lawyer. What a Litigation Lawyer Can Do for You

A litigation lawyer specializes in representing individuals, businesses, or organizations involved in legal disputes. Whether you're the one filing a lawsuit or you're being sued, a litigation attorney will advocate on your behalf throughout the entire legal process. Their goal is to resolve disputes, either through negotiation, settlement, or trial. Litigation lawyers can help with a wide range of disputes, including contract disagreements, real estate issues, employment disputes, personal injury claims, and more.

Litigation lawyers provide strategic legal advice and manage all aspects of your case, from filing motions to representing you in court, ensuring that your rights are protected and that you have the best chance of achieving a favorable outcome.

When Should I Hire a Litigation Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a litigation lawyer if you're involved in a legal dispute that you cannot resolve on your own. Common situations include:

  • Breach of contract disputes: If a party to a contract fails to fulfill their obligations, a litigation lawyer can help you seek damages or enforce the agreement.
  • Business disputes: Litigation lawyers can represent you in cases of partnership disagreements, intellectual property disputes, or business fraud.
  • Employment disputes: If you're facing issues like wrongful termination, workplace discrimination, or wage disputes, a litigation lawyer can help resolve these matters through negotiation or court action.
  • Personal injury claims: If you've been injured due to someone else's negligence and are seeking compensation, a litigation attorney can help you pursue your case.
  • Real estate or property disputes: When there are conflicts over property ownership, boundary issues, or lease agreements, a litigation lawyer can assist in resolving the dispute.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process is beneficial, especially if a lawsuit seems imminent or you have already been served with legal documents.

What Does a Litigation Lawyer Do?

A litigation lawyer handles all aspects of your case, from the initial investigation to the trial and even the appeals process, if necessary. Their role includes:

  • Case assessment and investigation: Analyzing the facts of your case and advising whether it’s worth pursuing or defending.
  • Pleadings and motions: Drafting and filing documents to initiate or respond to a lawsuit, including complaints, motions to dismiss, and answers.
  • Discovery: Gathering evidence, including depositions, interrogatories, and document requests, to build your case.
  • Negotiations and settlement discussions: Attempting to resolve disputes through mediation, arbitration, or settlement talks before going to trial.
  • Trial representation: Presenting your case in court, examining witnesses, introducing evidence, and making legal arguments before a judge or jury.
  • Appeals: If necessary, filing appeals to challenge or defend the outcome of the trial.

Litigation lawyers are also skilled negotiators and often work to resolve disputes outside of court to save time, money, and stress for their clients.

How Are Litigation Lawyers Paid?

Litigation lawyers typically use a variety of fee structures depending on the type of case, the complexity of the legal matter, and the financial circumstances of the client. Common payment arrangements include:

  • Hourly rates: Many litigation attorneys charge by the hour, with rates varying based on experience and geographic location.
  • Flat fees: For specific, predictable legal tasks (such as filing a motion), lawyers may offer a flat fee.
  • Contingency fees: In personal injury or other cases where you seek damages, a lawyer may work on a contingency basis, taking a percentage of the settlement or award if you win.
  • Retainer: Some clients pay a retainer fee upfront to secure ongoing legal services. The lawyer then bills against this retainer as work is done.

The exact structure should be discussed in the initial consultation to ensure you understand how and when you'll be charged.

How Much Does a Litigation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of a litigation lawyer varies significantly depending on the nature of the dispute and the lawyer’s experience. Factors affecting the cost include:

  • The complexity of the case: More complex litigation involving extensive discovery, expert witnesses, or multi-party suits typically costs more.
  • Time spent: Litigation cases can be time-consuming, especially if they go to trial. The longer the case, the higher the legal fees.
  • Type of fee arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $200 to over $1,000 per hour, depending on the lawyer’s reputation and location. Contingency fees generally range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or award.
  • Stage of litigation: Cases that settle early in the process are often less expensive than those that proceed to trial or appeal.

It’s crucial to ask about cost estimates during your initial consultation to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Litigation Lawyer

Before hiring a litigation lawyer, it's essential to ask key questions to ensure you're choosing the right representation:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Ensure that the lawyer has experience handling your specific type of dispute, whether it's a contract issue, personal injury, or business matter.
  2. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case's strengths, weaknesses, and the likelihood of success.
  3. What is your fee structure?
Clarify how you'll be charged, whether by the hour, a flat fee, or on a contingency basis.
  4. How long do you expect my case to take?
While it's hard to predict, an experienced lawyer can give you a rough estimate based on similar cases.
  5. How often do you settle cases versus going to trial?
Some lawyers are more inclined to settle, while others may be more experienced in the courtroom. It’s important to understand their strategy.
  6. What is your approach to resolving disputes?
Some lawyers prefer aggressive litigation, while others focus on settlement or mediation. Choose one whose approach aligns with your goals.

How to Check the Credibility of a Litigation Lawyer

To verify a litigation lawyer’s credibility, consider the following steps:

  • Check bar association records: Ensure the lawyer is in good standing with the state bar and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online reviews can provide insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and track record.
  • Look for litigation experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they have handled cases like yours and have a record of success.
  • Request references: Ask the lawyer to provide references from past clients who can speak to their effectiveness and approach.
  • Research their trial experience: If your case is likely to go to trial, ensure the lawyer has a history of courtroom success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make your first consultation with a litigation lawyer productive, you should prepare the following:

  • A clear outline of the dispute: Provide a timeline and key details about the legal issue you're facing.
  • Any relevant documents: Bring contracts, emails, letters, or any other documentation that pertains to the case.
  • A list of key players: Provide the names of individuals or companies involved in the dispute.
  • Questions about fees and the litigation process: Make sure you understand how the lawyer plans to approach your case and how you will be charged.
  • Your goals and expectations: Be clear about what outcome you're hoping for, whether it's a settlement, compensation, or another resolution.

By coming prepared, you can ensure that your initial meeting with the lawyer is both efficient and insightful, giving you a better sense of how to proceed with your case.
