While having sought, and enlisting, the help & legal representation needed, I could not have made a better choice. He is most knowledgeable, and professional. Provided everything that was necessary, for the best possible outcome. He also demonstrated that He cares about his clients, during the process. I’d give 10 Stars; if this were an option. “Grateful”, for Attorney Ruff’ services provided!

The reviews below are outdated. He seems lazy and fakes being too busy. He is just busy billing to make money for himself and added no value to my case, only trying to save face in court

I have had RUDY represent me on several legal matters. I have considered him my personal lawyer for about six years. He has done a fantastic job, never missed a court date, and I have had several. Never late. I have had other attorneys and have been disappointed with them. But I would rate Rudy five stars for his performances. He did so well that i referred him to a few of my friends as well as my unncle. I also thank his wonderful staff for doing such a wonderful job.

Mr. Cosio represented me as Plaintiff in a Quiet Title and Fraud Action. Mr. Cosio got a jury award for me in the sum of $1,853,000.00. Mr. Cosio has also represented me in a Landlord Tenant dispute, Contract Negotiation, and a Breach of Contract Dispute. I would recommend Mr. Cosio to anyone who asks me for a referral to an attorney.

The worst decision I ever made was to hire Ann Oakleaf for my divorce, modification of spousal support. She is incompetent and lacks integrity. Initiated “very busy activity” - in asking numerous times to submit and sign the same documents. She tried to prolong our phone, office conversations and charged me for every minute. She had no goal and strategy to help me. I forced to cancel her service because she offered the worst option compared to my former spouse’s lawyer. I felt she was not supportive of me. I had to hire another attorney. Do not hire this attorney if you want to be successful in court. She is very “burnt out” and wants to retire and should! You would be better off using the Self-help desk at Family court.

I first consulted with Ann expecting to hire her for a child custody case. After discussing the specifics of the case she was very honest in letting me know that the situation was not complex and didn't necessarily have to result in court appearances. She guided me on the process of mediation and my ex and I were able to come to an agreement on the custody terms. With her help, the process was much less stressful than I had anticipated.

From our first consultation, I knew I had made the best choice! Not once did I give a second thought about her character. I knew that I could entrust her with all I had. This was my first experience dealing with an attorney and fees, etc. All I can say in a few short words is that she was referred to me by a dear friend and once she listened to the few different situations I had going on I knew she would take care of me and help me and my children. Today, and The next day after, I will always have much appreciation for having Mrs. Oakleaf by my side and in my path.

This atty missed deadlines and made our horrible situation much worse. He paid more attention to scrolling through his phone for a hour then paying attention to the deposition he was hired to attend on our behalf. He is not a litigator and is lacking the skills of a competent attorney .

I hired Kyle to write the Terms of Service for my website and he was excellent! This was my first time finding and hiring a lawyer and I really lucked out finding Kyle. He was very on top of everything, called me multiple times to go over things, checked in with me to see if I had more questions and gave me a wounderful finished project. We had decided on a price before we started and Kyle did extra for me with no charge which was very genorous of him. I would highly reccomend hiring Kyle if you are looking for a lawyer.

I called & got a free consultation with James Sanchez. Even tho I paid nothing, I still feel like I spent 30 mins so Mr. Sanchez could talk over me, tell me "I red-flagged myself" just because my previous attornies werent able to negotiate out of an issue & it just burnt up legal fees. I suppose Im "red-flagged" because the opposition law firm has 10 attornies able to devote to maneuvering. And all I needed from Mr. Sanchez was to review an agreement before I sign. Luckily, there's other attornies that can handle this 1 hr 'intensive' task. Im glad the initial consultation is free. Thank god for that.

This lawyer is very disrespectful. When I went to speak to him about my case, he started yawning and seemed bother by my presence. Arrogant and demeaning, not a very pleasant person and place.

She helped my ex husband take my children from me and deny me hundreds of thousands of dollars I was entitled to because I was supposedly “on drugs” which were antidepressants but they made me “crazy”. The truth is I had no lawyer and was misdiagnosed by said ex husband as bipolar and was on many meds I never should have been on for nearly 2 decades. I am now off all meds (minus a mild prescription allergy med that is stronger than OTCs but doesn’t make me drowsy.) except maybe an occasional Aleve for neck and spinal arthritis. I am owed well over $150,000 that she managed to manipulate me out of. Now I find out she’s DISBARRED!?!? My ex has had a talent of finding exceptional women. I admit I wasn’t a gem. But Guerin??? And his current wife??? Either one are way worse than I ever was. He has always had a nose for crazy b*******.

IT WAS EMOTIONAL AND TERRIBLE. I HAD TO RETAIN ANOTHER ATTORNEY TO HANDLE MY LEGAL MATTERS Of FACT, I PAID HER ALMOST 10, 000 DOLLARS FOR PRACTICALLY DOING NOTHING. WHEN I MET WITH HER AND POINTED OUT HER BROKEN PROMISES ON MY CASE I WITNESSED ANOTHER SIDE OF HER TRUE PERSONALITY. SHE COMES ACROSS CARING AND NICE, BUT AFTER SHE GET A RETAINER AND YOU'RE BAITED SHE DOES NOTHING. WRITE USELESS LETTERS, MAKE PJONE CALLS AND NOTHING MORE. I COULD GO ON, BUT JUST DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE. AS I STATED, THE NEW ATTORNEY, DID THE WORK AND FOLLOWED THROUGH ON HER COMMITMENTS AND SETTLE THE CASE WHICH WENT TOTALLY IN MY FAVOR. I WOULD NEVET RECOMMEND HER OFFICE TO REPRESENT ANYONE. THANK God SOMEONE REFERRED ME TO A LAW FIRM TRULY BASED ON PROFESSIONALISM. I FILED A ETHICS COMPLAINT. I COULD GO ON, BUT JUST MAKE SURE YOU GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING AND DEADLINES EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. WATCH OUT FOR HER CONSTANT LETTER WRINGS AND TELEPJONE CALLS, WHICH WERE UNNECESSARY.

I've had David as my lawyer for 5 straight years now. He's been by my side through all my court cases. Thanks to David I get over 3000 a month in child support for my 3 daughters and we are still fighting for more! He is absolutely the best lawyer! He keeps me informed and is patient in receiving payment from me for all his hard work. He is on Top of my case every step of the way. I thank God every day for this man and feel very blessed to have him as my lawyer. Keep in mind when searching for a lawyer, do your research and find out for YOURSELF what kind of lawyer your hiring. David is a FAMILY/LAW lawyer and a great one at that! Don't be a dumb bunny and hire a lawyer if you dont know their profession! DUH!!! Serves you right to lose your money, if you hire a lawyer and don't know "jack squat" about them!

I hired this attorney to represent in a criminal case recently and he did absolutely NOTHING for me. And with good reason, on our third or fourth court appearance in this matter, he said "I am not really a criminal lawyer.." By this time, I had already incurred almost $2000 in attorney fees alone. You would have thought that for that kind of money, he would have at least tried keeping me out of jail, but he actually wanted me to do time! I could have done just as good representing myself without the expense. In case you wonder, the crime I committed was Driving With a Suspended License.

Oh god, please do not come here for any 2A needs at all. Was seeking some assistance with my current situation with my gun rights. I had a case back in 2009 that thought it was nothing. Was able to obtain and buy guns and also obtain my CCW. But on my recent firearm purchase, I was denied due to the case back in 2009. Matthew D. Cubeiro had me go and get a Ca Rap sheet which I have and got my Minute Report from the court. He than goes on to ask for $1800 evergreen an hour to help process NICS Appeal where everyone can do themselves. He tells me to gather more information when the information itself is there already and viewed by multiple people. Ask him for some financial help in this and all they care about is $$$. They say they are a Pro 2A but all I see is a Le firm who thinks they are pro 2A but all it is just about money. Be warned and go find help elsewhere as they are not doing any part of that.

What a Litigation Lawyer Can Do for You

A litigation lawyer specializes in representing individuals, businesses, or organizations involved in legal disputes. Whether you're the one filing a lawsuit or you're being sued, a litigation attorney will advocate on your behalf throughout the entire legal process. Their goal is to resolve disputes, either through negotiation, settlement, or trial. Litigation lawyers can help with a wide range of disputes, including contract disagreements, real estate issues, employment disputes, personal injury claims, and more.

Litigation lawyers provide strategic legal advice and manage all aspects of your case, from filing motions to representing you in court, ensuring that your rights are protected and that you have the best chance of achieving a favorable outcome.

When Should I Hire a Litigation Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a litigation lawyer if you're involved in a legal dispute that you cannot resolve on your own. Common situations include:

  • Breach of contract disputes: If a party to a contract fails to fulfill their obligations, a litigation lawyer can help you seek damages or enforce the agreement.
  • Business disputes: Litigation lawyers can represent you in cases of partnership disagreements, intellectual property disputes, or business fraud.
  • Employment disputes: If you're facing issues like wrongful termination, workplace discrimination, or wage disputes, a litigation lawyer can help resolve these matters through negotiation or court action.
  • Personal injury claims: If you've been injured due to someone else's negligence and are seeking compensation, a litigation attorney can help you pursue your case.
  • Real estate or property disputes: When there are conflicts over property ownership, boundary issues, or lease agreements, a litigation lawyer can assist in resolving the dispute.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process is beneficial, especially if a lawsuit seems imminent or you have already been served with legal documents.

What Does a Litigation Lawyer Do?

A litigation lawyer handles all aspects of your case, from the initial investigation to the trial and even the appeals process, if necessary. Their role includes:

  • Case assessment and investigation: Analyzing the facts of your case and advising whether it’s worth pursuing or defending.
  • Pleadings and motions: Drafting and filing documents to initiate or respond to a lawsuit, including complaints, motions to dismiss, and answers.
  • Discovery: Gathering evidence, including depositions, interrogatories, and document requests, to build your case.
  • Negotiations and settlement discussions: Attempting to resolve disputes through mediation, arbitration, or settlement talks before going to trial.
  • Trial representation: Presenting your case in court, examining witnesses, introducing evidence, and making legal arguments before a judge or jury.
  • Appeals: If necessary, filing appeals to challenge or defend the outcome of the trial.

Litigation lawyers are also skilled negotiators and often work to resolve disputes outside of court to save time, money, and stress for their clients.

How Are Litigation Lawyers Paid?

Litigation lawyers typically use a variety of fee structures depending on the type of case, the complexity of the legal matter, and the financial circumstances of the client. Common payment arrangements include:

  • Hourly rates: Many litigation attorneys charge by the hour, with rates varying based on experience and geographic location.
  • Flat fees: For specific, predictable legal tasks (such as filing a motion), lawyers may offer a flat fee.
  • Contingency fees: In personal injury or other cases where you seek damages, a lawyer may work on a contingency basis, taking a percentage of the settlement or award if you win.
  • Retainer: Some clients pay a retainer fee upfront to secure ongoing legal services. The lawyer then bills against this retainer as work is done.

The exact structure should be discussed in the initial consultation to ensure you understand how and when you'll be charged.

How Much Does a Litigation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of a litigation lawyer varies significantly depending on the nature of the dispute and the lawyer’s experience. Factors affecting the cost include:

  • The complexity of the case: More complex litigation involving extensive discovery, expert witnesses, or multi-party suits typically costs more.
  • Time spent: Litigation cases can be time-consuming, especially if they go to trial. The longer the case, the higher the legal fees.
  • Type of fee arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $200 to over $1,000 per hour, depending on the lawyer’s reputation and location. Contingency fees generally range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or award.
  • Stage of litigation: Cases that settle early in the process are often less expensive than those that proceed to trial or appeal.

It’s crucial to ask about cost estimates during your initial consultation to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Litigation Lawyer

Before hiring a litigation lawyer, it's essential to ask key questions to ensure you're choosing the right representation:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Ensure that the lawyer has experience handling your specific type of dispute, whether it's a contract issue, personal injury, or business matter.
  2. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case's strengths, weaknesses, and the likelihood of success.
  3. What is your fee structure?
Clarify how you'll be charged, whether by the hour, a flat fee, or on a contingency basis.
  4. How long do you expect my case to take?
While it's hard to predict, an experienced lawyer can give you a rough estimate based on similar cases.
  5. How often do you settle cases versus going to trial?
Some lawyers are more inclined to settle, while others may be more experienced in the courtroom. It’s important to understand their strategy.
  6. What is your approach to resolving disputes?
Some lawyers prefer aggressive litigation, while others focus on settlement or mediation. Choose one whose approach aligns with your goals.

How to Check the Credibility of a Litigation Lawyer

To verify a litigation lawyer’s credibility, consider the following steps:

  • Check bar association records: Ensure the lawyer is in good standing with the state bar and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online reviews can provide insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and track record.
  • Look for litigation experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they have handled cases like yours and have a record of success.
  • Request references: Ask the lawyer to provide references from past clients who can speak to their effectiveness and approach.
  • Research their trial experience: If your case is likely to go to trial, ensure the lawyer has a history of courtroom success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make your first consultation with a litigation lawyer productive, you should prepare the following:

  • A clear outline of the dispute: Provide a timeline and key details about the legal issue you're facing.
  • Any relevant documents: Bring contracts, emails, letters, or any other documentation that pertains to the case.
  • A list of key players: Provide the names of individuals or companies involved in the dispute.
  • Questions about fees and the litigation process: Make sure you understand how the lawyer plans to approach your case and how you will be charged.
  • Your goals and expectations: Be clear about what outcome you're hoping for, whether it's a settlement, compensation, or another resolution.

By coming prepared, you can ensure that your initial meeting with the lawyer is both efficient and insightful, giving you a better sense of how to proceed with your case.
