Nicholas has helped my family and I get our deposit back and some. We had a slumlord who kept our deposit illegally in bad faith. He successfully communicated with the landlord and negotiated an agreeable amount between both of us. I had a pretty messy situation with a DUI/DWI that I hadn't taken care of and had allowed to languish for about 10 years. To further complicate things, I had moved out of the state that the infraction had originally happened in, so this was going to be a difficult affair.
I shopped around for representation in the area and one thing that really stuck out about Vincent: whereas everyone else was basically saying it was a slamdunk and that they could get all charges dismissed within 30 days, guaranteed; Vincent was honest with me in saying that this was a complicated case and that he couldn't guarantee such a thing. By no means did he admonish me, but he did make clear how difficult my case could be because of the time elapsed and my move from the state.
After this conversation, I knew I had my attorney. Vincent clearly had a level of integrity that is a cut above everyone else's. Vincent fought hard during my case. I was facing extensive fines and possibly jailtime. Fortunately, thanks to his tenacity, Vincent was able to get my case dismissed and I was able to walk away with a totally clean record. I met Steven 18 years ago, when I was desperately in need of a lawyer who would allow me a little input into my defense and a shot at feeling like I'd put up the good fight to prove my innocence. I was facing eight years.
I interviewed half a dozen attorneys, or more. None impressed me like Attorney Maasz. His memory seemed photographic. His knowledge of the law was unmatchable. His attention and patience were juxtaposed to his energy and enthusiasm. He gave me hope where others had me more than a lot concerned that I'd be putting life on hold for a while.
So I hired him and hoped for the best. I prayed for it, even. And the best is exactly what I got. We went to trial on a wing and a prayer with a creative defense that actually allowed the jury to see the truth of what had happened.
The jury came rendered a not guilty verdict, of course, and much faster than we could've hoped for. This guy is a master of the Hail Mary, and I have to expect also every other defense admissible in court.
The voir dire, or jury selection, is one of the most important parts of a trial. Get the wrong people, get the wrong verdict. Steven somehow pulled exactly the jury we wanted from an abundance of jurors who would not likely have been understanding of the facts of my case. I don't how he did it. The prosecutor was skillful, too; but he was no match for my counselor.
His technique for presenting things was pretty amazing to watch, also. His manner was such that he shown the ugly facts in a very acceptable light. Then he communicated a deeper understanding of ideas and perspectives that would lead any reasonable person to the truth.
He actually used his extensive understanding of the law to achieve real justice. He worked for it. He cared about it, about my future and my life. You don't forget the guy who pulled you out from in front of the firing squad. And you don't forget that he did for more than the money. He won my case because he cared, and I can't recommend him highly enough.
Steven, if you see this, I hope y'all are doing well. It's been years, but you still have a friend here. Thanks again for your service. You're still the one good lawyer I've ever met.

I met Russell at a community Veterans meeting and later scheduled a meeting with him. Russell was always friendly and clearly explained the process to me.
