Being forced into an unwanted divorce situation, I asked our business attorney's for the best recommendation they could give me (Lasher Firm in Seattle) and it was Mr. James Shipman. I can't say enough on how excellent Mr. Shipman has been as well as his staff in handling me as well as the divorce situation. He has been kind and understanding as well as very thorough. The cost(s) involved was far better than I expected. He was very fair to both my ex wife and myself during the mediation process and gave me excellent advice through out. I can not recommend this gentleman enough as I will recommend him to any one that needs help as such. He gives attorney's a GREAT name!

James handled our custody mediation case. From the start he was straightforward with us about the probable outcome. He laid out the risks but also what the likely hood of gaining out desired parenting plan was in modification. His expertise in this field is hard to come by, and being able to trust what advice he was giving gave us piece of mind of a very uncertain time. His experience in mediation was helpful to help walk is through what to expect and we believe it's because of him that we were able to come to an agreement outside of a trial setting.

I write this review today because today is the day 25 years of tyranny and terror with my ex had ended. Matt came into my case in 2014 after 2 of the worst lawyers who had my case. My ex shopped around the 5 top lawyers and received consults which meant these lawyers could not take my case. Yes, the tyranny and terror started at the beginning.
When I went to Matt in 2014 he was young and an up and coming lawyer. I had no expectations. But Matt was fair, knowledgeable and was not afraid. It was the first time I had a feeling of peace because he shut the opposing counsel down and did it with respect and integrity. Small win but it was huge for me. I was in awe then.
Fast forward to today. Today I signed the last of the legal paperwork nightmare. This means Matt has given me me my life back. Matt was more than generous working with me on my bills. He is definitely results oriented. Thank you Matt.
I recommend Matt for all family law cases!

As an attorney with many years of commercial litigation experience I thought my divorce would look similar to the cases I had handled for years. I quickly realized I was pretty lost in a foreign territory with a very different language and customs; until I hired Matt. While there were no children in our marriage, my divorce was financially complicated. There were multiple professional businesses to be dealt with, widely varying retirement account balances, differences in age and differences in social security payments. Matt was great at giving me an outline of what was to come, what was important and what was not important, how the law applied to the facts of my divorce, and the likely outcomes if we had to go through a trial. He did a great job of dealing with a very difficult opposing counsel, and keeping me sane in the midst of what at times seemed like craziness. When we went to mediation Matt did a great job of presenting to the mediator things that I did not explain very well. We were able to negotiate a very fair settlement during the mediation. Matt's fees were very fair considering the outcome, and based on what my ex- spouse has said about their fees, Matt's fees to me were less than a third of their fees. Matt simply stayed focused on what was going to make a difference and did not get dragged into unnecessary (and expensive) meaningless skirmishes. I think Matt is a great choice for a more-complicated divorce where analysis and detail, and clear communication, are critical.

This is the second time I tried an uncontested divorce and it went much much better. The first time was through an online "fill in the blank" site that was useless. This firm provides great directions along the way to try to prevent it from becoming contested. I had to give in a little which is fine so I could get it over with. If it did I had options to try to settle it. Bo is honest about the process and all fees, and tells you exactly what to do. There are NO surprise charges or fees. All in all I'd use this firm again, as he did his job admirably.

Mr. Weintraub was my lawyer for a modification of child-support gate. I think he did a really good job of figuring out my former spouses actual income versus what was reported and even corrected Washington State’s calculations. He looked at his finances and tax returns and I think his tax background helped a lot which is one reason I hired him. Other lawyers I consulted didn’t point them out. He has a very helpful staff and was less cost than many others quoted, so I’m very happy with his overall work.

They put you through an inital intake process which is positive. I wanted a quick end to my divorce and was happy to compromise to make it happen. Our goals seemed to align.
Unfortunately this firm provided poor council during the first phone call with the attorney. Luckily this did not lead to a financial move that would have put me in violation of a court order. Later the attorney wanted me to provide documentary evidence he had previously advised against in an aparent 180. Such documentation was previously claimed to put me in legal liability. What can I believe?
Very disappointing.
Divorce is tough enough. I hired an attorney becuase I am no legal expert and I wanted a quick, mediated end to my marriage. Instead I get bad and changing advice. Plenty of good reviews of these guys. Hope I'm an outlier.

Rachel helped me fix a messy custody (dis)agreement, made more complex by being a military family with both parties residing out of state. I sincerely wish I had utilized her during my actual divorce, and saved some of the headaches my previous counsel didn't consider.

After a long and unhappy marriage, my former spouse and I decided to hire Juliet to mediate our legal separation. We had initially hired our own legal representatives and that was proving to me a true nightmare and promised a protracted, painful and expensive pathway. We took a pause and decided to try a mediator and were so fortunate to find Juliet and her paralegal, Jentri. As one can imagine, splitting from a spouse of nearly 4 decades was a complex, conflict-riddled, contentious experience. Juliet somehow managed to maintain her incredibly professional, calm and neutral stance while we hammered out our settlement contract. Her billing was beyond fair and well accounted for. Her work, including the computations needed, was carefully prepared and meticulously documented. Given the behaviors she had to tolerate and the "tattling" she was subjected to, she remained supportive of both parties and respectful toward us. When it was over and we met to sign paperwork, she was very empathetic and left me with a box of tissues and time to compose myself. I know we were difficult to deal with and she must have had to use all of her skills to coach us to the conclusion. A year later, my former spouse asked for a divorce and wanted to use her to complete that last step. Again, she and Jentri were professional, brief and did not get involved in the drama surrounding the divorce. Since her work had been so thorough during the separation, the divorce was quick and simple and they took care of everything. I was so grateful!
