Mr. George Counts has been my family attorney since 2013 when I hired him for my divorce case. He also handled my mom's Will. He has been nothing but professional and amazing. I always recommend him to family and friends.

My family and I had a phone consultation with attorney Huger in 9/23 re a probate matter. We paid $250 for this consultation & the attorney gave his opinion on the case; however, because the matter was a bit complicated & involved for him to retain everything during the call, the attorney advised us to e-mail him a synopsis and documents re the case for a final decision to be made. We did this in a matter of days and subsequently followed up several times re our case. We even CC'd the attorney's assistant per his advisement. After not hearing anything from the attorney for several weeks, a phone call was made to his office and the assistant assured us she would tell him to get back to us. To this date, he has not contacted us to conclude our probate inquiry. We believe he should have contacted us as a "professional" pertaining to him taking or rejecting our case. This is what we expected after paying him for the phone consultation and him telling us to followup. We are very disappointed with attorney Huger and feel misled and can not in good conscience recommend him to anyone re a probate matter.

Hé cold have tried at least a little didn't get one chàrge dismissed and there was plenty of reason to dismiss some of the charges. He was disbarred for not doing his job. We paid him a considerable amount of money and he did a poor excuse of a job. He told us he didn't bother looking thru the case and quickly set us up for failure in my opinion I could have done a better job representing him and I know nothing about law. Don't waste your money this guy doesn't care. If you want to just accept the prosecutor s sentence and have a lawyer who just tells you to plead guilty by all means this is your guy.

Hired for divorce. Was clearly a means to an end for his "new office" in Myrtle Beach area. Promised to fight , be available, etc. All of the things I asked before hiring him. Instead, every phone call was met with personal family matter excuses, and no return calls! I provided every document needed, many of which were misplaced many times! Never followed through with the "fight" promised. At mediation, took calls throughout! No official billing paperwork, very disorganized. Left divorce stipulations unfinished, due to not notifying me of dates/times in a timely manner to attend! Not very professional!

The only reason we're 'at war', as David puts it, is because entitled white men like my attorney, here, think they can violently overthrow the government and return us to the 'good old days' where ignorance and hateful waste was king. Please avoid this lawyer if you believe we can all come together as humans, and work things out without violence and unchecked avarice. All of this is proven in his Justice Dept. complaint: https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/case-multi-defendant/file/1507411/download

I contacted George Sink Law Firm due to a car accident, at no fault of my own! The firm helped me find doctors that treated my body injuries and educated me. I regained my normal body mobility, with out pain or discomfort! Thank you to all of the staff at North Charleston BP Chiropractic Care! I found myself in a bigger problem then just being lucky my body was only hurt! The firms attorney Mr. David Johnston was handling my case when a third party company began fighting me. The third party company was not directly involved in the case. Mr David Johnston was willing to help me state the facts of the car accident with the understanding I had to fight the third party company on my own! The third party company only wanted me to pay...pay...pay! The work that went into my problems where not always apart of the case at hand for my attorney. Without the honesty of the attonery Mr. David Johnson and willingness to provide the facts in strong deliverable format to me. I would not have been able to state the facts with all the information in a timeline format to the third party company! Mr. David Johnston with out a second thought was honestly concerned with the Facts of the case being presented to all parties in the case and in my person problems! I gained respect, gratitude and will highly recommended Mr. David Johnson for a life-time! With the act of honesty Mr. David Johnson choose not “to just do his job”; he went “Above an Beyond” to help me! It is my privilege to know an attonery in the low-country which does not quit when their reach is limited! Again a car accident with no fault of my own, I was able to gain Justice from all parities! Mr. David Johnson I Thank You! My Warmest Regards, Jamie

I spoke to her 3 times and yes, she was confrontational to me also. But, I dismissed it hoping that she would use that attitude in litigating my case. However, after sending her detailed information, I got a letter back basically saying "I am too busy, go somewhere else. Good luck". Take your chance, maybe she will be less busy due to bad reviews:)

Robert Polk handled my divorce and custody case. At the time I was a mother of a 15 month old. There were extenuating circumstances. He is a very knowledgable lawyer. Does well in court, he literally had my ex's lawyer at a loss for words at one point. Almost at times as if the other lawyer just kept agreeing with him. That being said, I feel Mr. Polk was not fighting for me. I had a feeling he made the process swift and basically easy on the other party, almost as if he had been in favor of my ex husband the entire time. He got me the LEAST amount of child support, my friends and family have no idea how my ex makes what he does and only pays $300. The father was never in the picture, committed adultery, yet me being a stay at home wife received no spousal support. The father gets our child every other weekend, holidays, one night a week and child support has been "based" on that. However the father never has gotten him which I stressed he would not even attempt to, mr Polk did not help me pursue full custody knowing I wanted to bc the father is unstable and not a good environment. For upwards of 15k I paid, I feel I did not get the result I wanted and that I was brushed aside. I honestly believe he is in favor of a father in divorce cases and custody cases. If you are a wife or mother I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. He is very smart, capable, and I believe with common interests he is a great lawyer. But he does not favor the mother, therefore I do not recommend him.

I felt like I was not important. I felt like the victim the entire time and never felt safe that I was going to be represented well. I have a soon to be ex- that continues to harrass me , stalk me and defamate my character to all that will listen. Because I am not rich, I guess the thought is that I am not worthy of 100% of work and someone with Go to , to get the task at hand done. I originally came to this firm with a divorce case of.." At fault under Habitual Drunkness" and now almost a year later I have been made to wait and told that it would cost me 10,000 to push this . I was thrown the line, Can you even pay your balance? When paid the balance I still sit , being given the execuse..." I tried calling his lawyer and they won't return my call."

All he did was show up on time. His communication and follow up was horrible. He did not use information that I provided him nor did he seem to care about my concerns. I heard he was a good lawyer but I did not get that vibe. Now I'm behind the 8-ball trying to find someone to fix what he started or failed to start for that matter. I will not refer him to anyone.

Well, apparently, Mr Burrows has done to a lot of people what he did to me. After months of no contact l filed a complaint with the State Bar and was completely surprised when they said Mr Burrows was no longer representing me because l FIRED him! I never fired him and requested any papers l had signed to show l fired him and he just, once again, didn't respond. By this time the statute of limitations had expired. I lost a lot of money due to his negligence and then he lied and said it was my fault! I don't feel the State Bar did a thorough investigation, either.

Imagine my surprise when I found out, after months of trying to contact Mr. Burrows, that he was no longer representing me, but had failed to notify me of that fact! I'm thinking, for over 2 years, he is working on my case when he hadn't filed the first paper! By the time I was made aware of this fact, the statute of limitations had expired and there was nothing I could do. I tried to file a complaint but the Office of Disciplinary Counsel took his side, even though no proof was ever produced, to me, of him informing me he no longer represented me. The attorney who referred him to me still hasn't stopped apologizing, even though I have assured him I didn't hold him responsible, he feels terrible about involving me with this "attorney! " Save yourself a lot of money and hire someone else!

I hired Chris to work on an accident claim for me. It was a small case that I could have handled on my own, but decided to let him take care of it. Now 7 months later I have not been able to reach him. He does not return calls. I’ve left several messages, emails, text messages and he does not respond. BAD BUSINESS. Now I have to research my own case to see if he was paid or not....

I made the mistake of using Mr Miller to update some documents for me. Mr. Miller indicated that he did not do project pricing and I made the mistake of assuming he would be judicious his time. What has previously cost less then $1,000 Mr. Miller attempted to charge me over $5,000 to update a few sections of a policy manual. Mr. Miller then attempted to place a copyright on material sourced from my original document. I would encourage anyone considering Mr. Miller

What a Personal Injury Lawyer Can Do for You

A personal injury lawyer specializes in helping individuals who have been physically or emotionally injured due to the negligence or wrongful actions of another party. Whether you've been hurt in a car accident, suffered a slip and fall, or experienced medical malpractice, a personal injury attorney works to ensure you receive fair compensation for your injuries. They can help you recover damages for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other related expenses.

Personal injury lawyers act as your advocate, navigating the legal system on your behalf and dealing with insurance companies to ensure you get the compensation you deserve. They understand how to handle complex legal matters and help you avoid common pitfalls.

When Should I Hire a Personal Injury Lawyer?

Hiring a personal injury lawyer can be beneficial in many situations where you've been harmed due to another's negligence. Some key scenarios include:

  • Severe injuries: If you've suffered significant or permanent injuries that result in substantial medical bills, a lawyer can help ensure you are fairly compensated.
  • Long-term or permanent disability: Injuries that affect your ability to work or require ongoing medical treatment are complex, and a lawyer can help estimate long-term damages.
  • Disputed liability: If the responsible party or their insurance company denies liability for your injury, a lawyer can gather evidence and advocate on your behalf.
  • Insurance company lowball offers: Insurers often try to settle personal injury claims for as little as possible. A lawyer can negotiate to get you a fair settlement.
  • Medical malpractice claims: Injuries caused by a doctor, nurse, or healthcare provider due to negligence require a personal injury lawyer experienced in medical malpractice law.
  • Exposure to hazardous substances: If you've been injured due to exposure to toxins, chemicals, or dangerous substances, a lawyer can help pursue legal action.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process is crucial, especially if you're unsure of the full extent of your injuries or damages.

What Does a Personal Injury Lawyer Do?

A personal injury lawyer provides a wide range of services to guide you through the legal process and maximize your compensation. They can:

  • Evaluate your case: A lawyer will assess the strength of your claim and determine whether you have a viable case.
  • Investigate the incident: Gathering evidence such as police reports, witness statements, medical records, and expert opinions is key to building a strong case.
  • Negotiate with insurance companies: Lawyers handle communications with insurance companies to ensure you receive a fair settlement and aren't taken advantage of.
  • File a lawsuit if necessary: If a fair settlement can't be reached, the lawyer can file a personal injury lawsuit on your behalf and represent you in court.
  • Help calculate damages: This includes medical expenses, lost wages, future medical needs, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.
  • Prepare and file legal documents: Lawyers handle all the paperwork and deadlines associated with your case, including filing motions and discovery requests.
  • Represent you at trial: If your case goes to trial, the lawyer will argue your case before a judge and jury to obtain the compensation you deserve.

How Are Personal Injury Lawyers Paid?

Most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if they win your case, either through settlement or a court judgment. Here’s how it works:

  • Contingency fee percentage: The lawyer will take a percentage of the settlement or award, typically between 25% and 40%, depending on the complexity of the case and the stage at which it's resolved.
  • Costs and expenses: In addition to the contingency fee, the lawyer may deduct other costs associated with the case, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, and court costs. These expenses are often advanced by the lawyer and repaid out of the settlement.
  • No upfront payment: Since the lawyer’s fee is contingent on winning, you usually don’t pay anything upfront.

Always discuss the lawyer’s fee structure during your consultation to avoid surprises.

How Much Does a Personal Injury Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a personal injury lawyer depends on the specifics of your case and the lawyer’s fee structure. However, since most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, the amount you pay will depend on the outcome of your case. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Contingency fees: Typically range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or award. The percentage may increase if the case goes to trial or requires an appeal.
  • Other costs: In addition to the lawyer's fee, you may be responsible for case-related expenses such as expert witness fees, medical record retrieval fees, and court costs. These are often deducted from your settlement, so you won't have to pay out of pocket.

While the cost may seem high, hiring an experienced lawyer can significantly increase the amount you recover, making it a worthwhile investment.

Top Questions to Ask a Personal Injury Lawyer

Before hiring a personal injury lawyer, it's essential to ask questions to ensure you’re choosing the right representation. Here are some important questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with personal injury cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has handled cases involving similar injuries or accidents.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a contingency fee and what percentage they will take from any settlement or award.
  3. How long will my case take?
While it's hard to predict, a lawyer can give you an estimate based on similar cases they’ve handled.
  4. How often do you take cases to trial?
Some lawyers prefer to settle quickly, while others are more comfortable going to court if necessary.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior lawyers or paralegals may handle some aspects of your case, so it's important to know who will be managing your claim.
  6. Do you have references from past clients?
Speaking with past clients can provide valuable insight into the lawyer’s effectiveness and professionalism.

How to Check the Credibility of a Personal Injury Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a credible personal injury lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any history of disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, and Google reviews can provide insight into the lawyer's reputation and client satisfaction.
  • Look at their track record: Review their experience with personal injury cases, particularly how many cases they’ve successfully resolved or taken to trial.
  • Ask for references: Credible lawyers should be willing to provide references from past clients who can vouch for their work.
  • Check professional memberships: Lawyers who are members of respected organizations, like the American Association for Justice (AAJ), often have a solid reputation in the field.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with a personal injury lawyer, prepare the following:

  • Detailed account of the accident: Write down everything you remember about the incident, including dates, times, and locations. Include any witnesses or police reports if available.
  • Medical records and bills: Bring any documentation of your injuries, treatments, and associated medical costs.
  • Insurance information: Provide your insurance details and any communication you’ve had with the other party’s insurance company.
  • Employment and income records: If your injury has impacted your ability to work, bring proof of lost wages or reduced earning capacity.
  • Photos or videos: If you have photos of the accident scene, your injuries, or property damage, bring them to your consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare a list of questions to ask, including how the lawyer will handle your case and what you can expect in terms of timeline and outcome.

By preparing thoroughly for your first consultation, you’ll help the lawyer understand your case more quickly and get a better sense of your legal options.
