Casandra has helped me with a case about a woman who has slandered, harassed and stalked me. Casandra has been so compassionate towards the circumstances I have gone through and kept her word above and beyond with my case. She is very prepared and listens well. She takes your case on with care and takes care of all the legal aspects and explains in detail laws that can be very confusing. I find it very odd to see the less than happy reviews for Sawaya. My experience was top notch.
I was hit by a car an now I walk like an Egyptian. Well, not exactly, but the long story is tedious and irrelevant. What matters is that I needed legal counsel to manage my claims process with the insurance companies. I was assigned Zach Elsner and Erin Threadwell as my legal team, and could not be happier.
Folks, these things are battles, and not the type that are won in days or weeks, but months, and sometimes years. Zach and Erin were perfectly communicative when I needed to act on something, had an update, or just the occasional check in to make sure they know where we all were in the process.
If your hurt, you need more than peace of mind, You need an advocate that is going to take care of business on your behalf. If you need a personal injury attorney, I think that Sawaya is a strong option. Highly professional, and more than anything else, I never felt like they were a bunch of ambulance chasers.
I hope I never have to use them again, but if I ever get rag-dolled by an SUV in the future, I know where to turn.

In September of 2014 I suffered a career ending injury at BNSF Railway. The RR choose to not do the right thing even though I continued to have faith in them. I talked to Jeff on a recommendation of a friend after many broken promises by BNSF. I had only done one thing wrong that night, and that was trusting BNSF to accurately train, and prepare a operator to safely work along side me. I talked with Jeff and he helped ease my mind and finally realize that the RR was not conducting themselves i my best interest or livelihood. My injuries physically were were permanent and the PTSD was overwhelming and learning to deal with it was life altering. Jeff worked tirelessly for me and my future well-being. He fought them like David and Goliath and we won. Due to his tireless work and knowledge of law and his belief in me when I sometimes didn't believe in the end. The RR may think they are a gaint, but they have definitely met their Goliath in his knowledge, strategy and ability to try a case. I was almost ready to settle, and am so glad I didn't and chose to go with Jeff. My life is much better, and I can live my new life without worries. My parent was involved in a pedestrian/car accident and was incapacitated. There were five insurance companies involved. I tried going it on my own for a while until I hit a dead end and it became apparent that I needed legal assistance. It became very complicated; there was a lot of paperwork and it became clear that one insurance company in particular was playing me since I did not know the law and did not have representation.
I telephone-interviewed several Denver firms; then personally interviewed three, and in the end Melissa Winthers came out ahead. Lucky me. I made the right choice!
From the very beginning of our relationship, Melissa listened to me and what I wanted. She worked within those parameters, and never once tried to oversell me. It was complex and took time. I had no experience in these matters, but I had made some progress on my own with some of the insurers so it was important to me that she start in the middle. She did exactly that which demonstrated her integrity. The other attorney’s I interviewed were unwilling to do this which highlighted that they prioritized their own interest over resolving my dispute.
She treated me fairly and billed honestly. She acted as my advisor with some insurers and my attorney of record with others. There was a lawsuit and arbitration and she worked with me practically in resolving these conflicts.
I consider myself very lucky to have had the Universe point me in Melissa's direction at the right time. I would highly recommend her to anybody involved in an injury claim against an insurance company and in dealing with the Medicare bureaucracy.
Melissa provided me as her client, exactly what I needed, when I needed it, honestly and fairly. There is no better professional compliment than that!

I was involved in a motorcycle accident in another state, just prior to moving to Colorado. I had hired a firm, based in yet another state, who advertised themselves as "Bikers helping bikers". I assumed that they might have additional insight and experience, relative to my particular situation, so I went with them.
After a very short time of dealing with this firm, it was obvious that I had made a terrible choice!
Having never being in need of an attorney prior to this accident, I was not well versed in the selection process.
Aside from not having a face to face relationship with my attorney, I was unable to speak to anyone other than the receptionist and had to make numerous calls requesting a conference. When he finally did return my call it was generally several days later.
Mellisa was recommended to me by my chiropractor, and it turned out to be very fortunate and the best decision I could have made, not only because of the issues I was having with my first choice, but for the excellent attention and obvious abilities exhibited by Melissa and her support staff.
Melissa's knowledge of head injuries was very impressive, equal to her extensive abilities in the legal profession.
Their combined efforts resulted in a very favorable outcome and I would highly recommend Melissa Winthers to anyone who finds themselves in the unfortunate position of requiring legal help.

I was injured in an automobile accident when my car was hit while at a stop. For a while after that incident I thought I could handle everything on my own but as the months went by and I wasn’t getting any better and the insurance companies were not helpful I realized that wasn’t the case and decided to enlist some help. This wasn’t an easy decision to make and finding the right attorney was no simple task. Yes there are many to be found but after meeting with several I started to doubt my decision. I was extremely fortunate though when a friend referred me to Melissa Winthers of Fleishman & Shapiro P.C.
From my initial phone call into their office I could already tell I was in good hands and after meeting with Melissa for the first time I knew I had found the most qualified and best attorney to help me with my case. Throughout my entire experience with Melissa and Gina Powell (paralegal) I was treated with respect, honesty and true concern about how I was doing.
Every single phone call of mine was returned with extreme promptness, every question I had was answered quickly with all the information I needed. I was always informed of what was happening with my case, the details of the process every step of the way and what to expect each time we moved forward. On September of 2020 I was in a horrible motorcycle accident that resulted in serious bodily injury. I hired Sarah McEahern to represent me through this process. I wish I had the vocabulary to express how incredible she was on my case and as a person. My case was not a simple case, it involved the Federal Government due to the person who caused my accident was a Federal Employee. Sarah was relentless in perusing my case to make sure I was able to get everything I deserved. Sarah treated me with the utmost respect, care and compassion, not only towards my case but towards me as a person. When I was confused or didn't understand some part of my case she took the time and care to explain everything to me in a manner that I could understand, always leaving me with confidence and a state of calm. Her professionalism is un matched.
Whenever the opposition would try and slow down my case, or try and throw some curve ball Sarah was never fazed by it and instead would directly confront whatever issue they brought up and put it to rest quickly and firmly. Sarah is an exceptional attorney. My case was Federal but it didn't start out that way. I fell down my stairs in 2008. They were built incorrectly and not up to code. I sustained a neck injury and had to have surgery on my neck. I retained an attorney that I thought was going to help me but she didn't. I was very frustrated and disappointed so I did some research. I researched and contacted several attorneys in
Denver that handled slip and fall cases but was not satisfied with the initial phone conversations or actual meetings.
In June of 2010, I found Mr. Koupal on the internet and was impressed with his profile and credentials. I contacted Chris and set up an appointment to meet with him. I found Chris to be very knowledgable, professional, confident and a man of intregrity. Chris agreed to take my case and also helped me handle the dismissal of my other attorney in a very positive and professional manner. From that point on, he proceeded to research, investigate and move forward with my case. He kept me well informed almost on a weekly basis for over a year. Chris always emailed me back or contacted me by phone regarding the progress of my case. As a result from the neck surgery, I had accquired many medical bills that totaled thousands of dollars. I felt confident and at ease knowing that he was doing everything he possibly could to resolve and settle my case. Chris knew that I didn't want to have to go to trial and worked very hard to make sure that we would avoid going to trial. When I has rear-ended while sitting dead still in traffic, the insurance company first tried to say I was not a passenger in the car and after that they came up with all kinds of other stonewalling activities to keep me from obtaining a fair settlement. Roger is very clever and knows how the insurance companies try to give you the run around and is very patient and persistent with the letter of the law. He outsmarted them and squelched the agent at every turn and within a year obtained a settlement I could never have obtained on my own.

Roger came to meet me after I was in a motor vehicle accident and horribly injured. I interviewed multiple lawyers in the Denver area and none came close to touching Roger's honesty, professionalism, and mastery in law. The months that passed after the accident were the worst time of my life with numerous surgeries and rehabbing. One of the hardest parts was accepting the wounds and visual deformities that I would carry with me for a lifetime. I had hope in Roger and that there would be a light at the end of what seemed like a long dark tunnel. After working together for over 2 years Roger was able to reach a settlement without having to follow through with a lawsuit in the courts. A case like mine could have easily taken twice the amount of time. The outcome surpassed my expectations in each an every way and has changed my life and my future. We hired "Woodruff" years ago, literally on a wing and a prayer..."God, please let us find the best attorney for our child." God did not disappoint.
When we first met David, he was quiet and unassuming. He was politely matter-of-fact as he explained the law to us, the "easier" bits of a lawsuit, and the difficulties that were sure to come in a case as complex as ours. He promised that he would do everything in his power to help our child, and then he set about to do just that.
There were so many issues, so many uphill battles that had to be fought and won. Each step of our case seemed fraught with peril. David even had to travel back to the state of origin to force production. David went above and beyond for us. Even when it was looking bleak, as it did at times, David reassured us that, no matter what, he was all in.
When it came time for trial, David masterfully weaved the threads of a broken, fragmented, tangled mess of chaos into a clear and powerful portrait of what happened to our child and why. Every question was answered. He fought for her. He advocated for her when no one else would even try. And he won.
There are no words that could ever come close, no words that are big enough or grand enough or mighty enough to show just how grateful we are that Clark Kent just so happened to be at his desk one day, and just so happened to answer his phone.
