He likes to have his information and evidence gathered thoroughly in order to obtain maximum efficiency.
He is a problem solver while also keeping a cool and level head. Very keen on details. He took the time to reassure me, as a client, that the situation would be subdued in the smoothest way possible. I had never been in any legal trouble in my life.
I was charged incorrectly with AWDW and in our first meeting he was able to quickly extract that my case was actually self defense and defense of others. Attorney Gerald made sure that the evidence of my case was heard clearly by the ADA and that the full picture was understood. Without the proper context the situation could have went to extreme levels that could have had permanent effects on my life and record overall.
Greatfully, my charges were dismissed in a controlled and timely manner . He did a fantastic job, especially during the confusion of a pandemic and I couldn't thank him enough for protecting my innocence in the way he did. I will never forget what was done for me.

My shoulder injury resulted from a flu shot administered incorrectly at Moses Cone hospital in Greensboro NC in which the hospital denied any wrong doing. Nancy and her team didn’t hesitate to take on my case They kept me informed along the way and through the entire process. Always had time to answer questions and fought very hard to get me the settlement I deserved. A car accident is really just that – an accident. No one plans for it, it’s completely unexpected. For me, the effects of my car accident are something that I will deal with for the rest of my life. The fact that I had an injury from my accident was incredibly frustrating and made me angry. Every day I hurt and relived the accident, I didn’t get any results from the treatment I was receiving and I was so upset every time I would have to talk to the other insurance company about my medical treatment. I initially met with Mr. Duncan back in January with a no cost, no obligation consultation. At the time, I was overwhelmed with debt (foreclosure, charge offs, and a judgment). Mr. Duncan explained my options in great detail and informed me that my situation (means test pending) qualified for a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. Mr. Duncan asked me why I decided to contact his law firm instead of the other lawyers in Mecklenburg County. I informed Mr. Duncan that I was thoroughly impressed with the content on his website and his informative YouTube videos. The paralegal (Brooke) that was assigned to my case was very prompt with her email responses and informative. Just as Mr. Duncan stated during our meeting, my court filing date was in March and the trustee /creditors meeting was held in mid April. After I got rear ended at the beginning of my final year of Nursing School, I reached out to Auger and Auger. I was actually referred by another client of theirs who assured me they would help me. I was given a ticket for 76 mph in a 55 mph zone. I have an out of state license and was told by the officer I would need to appear in court. I received a letter in the mail from His law firm and after talking with his staff retained them to represent me. I was referred to Mark Morris by a friend who went through the adoption process. I first spoke with him on the phone for 45 minutes before even hiring him. He took the time to explain the entire process in detail, emailed me information, and made sure to follow up with me. Once we got the ball rolling he and his staff (Erica) were very efficient. Adopting a child is an emotional rollercoaster and having them step us through everything assured us we never had to worry about that part of the process. I consulted with numerous lawyers concerning a scenario that was ongoing. I hired Bruce Mason after reading about his selection to Super Lawyers for several consecutive years, and meeting with him. My situation compares to being lost in the jungle only to find a lion who becomes my aegis. I no longer suffered from noctambulation or constant worry because Bruce Mason was superb. He is breviloquent and eloquent simultaneously and has substantive work ethic and integrity. He is also well respected by his peers, and I suspect his intellect far surpasses that of most lawyers. If you have something going on that is incredibly important to you, I suggest hiring him. He can handle difficult cases with ease. He certainly left me in a better place after winning my case, and the only thing I would change about him is not having been in the situation I was in to begin with to need someone like him. My husband and I hired Jennifer to help us with custody of a child that we’ve had for 3 years that wasn’t biologically our child. She was very helpful every step of the way. Our case was definitely an unusual case considering the child wasn’t biologically ours and we weren’t sure how to go about getting custody but Jennifer and her assistants definitely worked right by our side through the whole process. Jennifer is 100% honest with you from the start, she won’t pursue something if she isn’t sure she can’t win it for you and she will tell you that. She’s a very intelligent, genuine person. It is my pleasure to write this review, as I’ve been in a custody battle since my son was born. 3 years, it took 3 years to get full custody, but Jennifer even seeing my story and knowing all of the truths and seeing the evidence for herself, knew there were laws to follow before we could get my son and I to where we are now. She stood this case out with me, she informed me of all of the law changes (laws have changed drastically from when I was a child), and the chances the opposing party were entitled to before we could fight for my son to the fullest. She was very knowledgeable, very organized, on top of things for every court appearance, kept me in the loop of things, how they would go, what it was that was happening the day of. She never walked into court without being ahead of the game and well prepared to fight this for and with me. Their firm stayed on top of my questions, always reached back out to me with any concerns I had, and literally just made sure I knew that my concerns were valid. No, they can not just jump straight to a conclusion for you, but they will fight for what they know is right in all aspects. 1000% recommend Jennifer for a family/custody lawyer. Very empathetic, she’s watched my son grow from birth to 3 and was just as concerned for him as I was. Always asked how he was at appointments if he was not present with me. She felt like family. Someone who is on the outside, watching what you’re going through, but never fails to show her genuine concerns. She was proud of the young man my son was turning out to be and could notice the mothering that was provided to my son through these times. Hiring John Painter is one of the best decisions I have ever made, truly worth every penny. He is not only incredibly smart, but very quick on his feet, exceptionally creative, but the value of his experience becomes clear once you see him in a courtroom - this man has seen it all and I can't say how important that is in these cases. Mr. Painter is a kind gentleman when you meet him, but don't let that fool you - he is a true bulldog and will put every ounce of sweat and effort into fighting for you. Mr. Painter left no stone unturned - challenging every point, making strong and legitimate objections (and repeating those as they came up again), pinning down witnesses and ultimately presenting some very novel legal arguments I don't think other lawyers would have tried or thought of. As I waited for my case to be called on trial day, I saw several attorneys defend their clients with mediocre arguments or otherwise simply accept guilty pleas, every single one of them being found guilty. Statistically for NC, that is what I would expect and I was preparing myself for the same. Mr. Painter had mentioned a novel legal argument when we first met, and I wasn't sure it would work but I also didn't expect an attorney to try something besides settling and hoping for the best sentencing outcome, as I believed my case was fairly clear cut. I blew way over both on scene and at the station, it wasn't particularly close. I am sure I would not have had the same outcome with another lawyer - not guilty. Mr. Painter follows every witness closely, taking notes that he uses to create a timeline that he somehow manages to refer back to with an uncanny ability to process all of that in his head in real time. Mr. Painter put on a truly remarkable performance, challenging every point made by the state, repeated objections that arose and came up again (one of which the state seemed to even acknowledge had put their case in a bit of a bind, and it certainly wasn't an obvious one I would have realized - and this wasn't the first time Mr. Painter had brought it up), and not leaving anything on the table for the judge to consider in favor of conviction without challenging its merit. Mr. Painter handled my case for three years, and kept me from making court appearances until the time was right. I was ultimately found not guilty, 100% due to this man and I feel (as I have seen many others on here mention) as though I owe him more than the legal fees I paid (which were probably a bit higher than some other attorneys at the time, but worth every penny and looking back I would have paid more). What an incredible relief when I had all but accepted that I was likely to be convicted, potentially having to wait several years before the asterisk on my record was removed (likely after the damage was already done). Do yourself a favor and go talk to Mr. Painter in order to put yourself in the best hands possible; you won't find his level of skill in another attorney and the consequences are too great not to.

I have used John Painter twice on two family related criminal cases almost 20 years apart. Both times I got exactly what I wanted. In May if 2019, I was in a car accident where I was T-boned by someone who ran a stop sign. I was referred to Brian by a close friend and began the process of filing a complaint against the opposing insurance company for the horrendously low settlement offer I received from them.
Coming into this case, I was naive and unaware of the legal processes involved in such an endeavor. I thought, “Well the driver admitted fault, the damage is recorded, this will be easy”. I had absolutely no idea that my accident would have become such a battle to receive money lost. And that battle was fought tooth and nail by Brian and his team for me.
We were in the middle of this process when the pandemic hit, which added another layer of complications and delays to everything. It took almost 3 years to get to the end of this settlement.
Brian and Jenna, whom I worked with the most personally, were kind and patient with my unending questions, compassionate with my frequent emotional meltdowns, and kept me in the loop with my case regularly, knowing how much stress it was bringing me in my personal life, I didn’t feel in the dark. Brian had even come in on his day off just to meet with me and hear me cry about how unfair everything was. That’s a patient man. He wasn’t scared to tell me the truth of the arduous process we were in, even if I didn’t want to accept it, something I appreciated a lot.
Anytime I had to come into the office, I was met warmly by Jenna, who always remembered me and my case. It never felt like a stuffy or cold lawyers office. I even met another individual who worked on my case behind the scenes that I was unaware of, he was very kind and happy to meet me, which made me feel that much more secure knowing Brian’s team was truly invested in my case.

And to be quite candid, I believe they gave me more time and effort than they ever got compensated for after everything was said and done. But that didn’t stop them from treating me like family. Mr. Gore represented my 18 year old daughter on reckless driving and speeding citations (90 in a 70 MPH zone).
