She failed me terribly, went the whole duration of limitations on a fake claim Number which left me with all my medicalBill's, she changed a number of different things in my claim, like my last name, the accident date, thetime it occurred. No one else went through the accident I endured , and i suffer daily from it. She took me for my money and ran me out of time to be able to do anything about it. Karma will get her for screwing me over.

Although I was hesitant in retaining a lawyer so to speak. I think that the experience has left me with a good feeling. Unsure of things of this matter (personal injury claims). I'm glad that Marie had the time to help me in this matter. I am very grateful it's over for my part. It's been a long year of worry, with an acceptable outcome.

I was involved in an auto accident that was very complicated. I am employeed in WA state but my job took mr to Virginia. While there I was involved in an auto accident whereby I broke my back. I now had to deal with the other guys insurance company, my employer's insurance company, WA L&I and lawyers and doctors in Virginia. MArie did a great job representing me here and selected a great law firm to work with in Virginia. As I learned, Virginia ia the worse state to have to file a lawsuit with most cases settled for about $15,000. Marie got them to settle a week before trial for almost 10 times that amount. About 6 months ago, my adult son was involved in a motorcycle accident caused my another driver. I told him to call Marie BEFORE talking with any insurance company. He did and was very gald that he hired marie and Briggs and Briggs.

Mr. Ewetuga is very good at what he does. I went to him in a panic because a past creditor had my wages garnished for an account that they thought was still outstanding. I knew I had paid off this account and fortunately, I kept all of my paperwork from three years ago. During our consultation, he recommended that I take action and contact the creditor first to let them know I paid the debt. Then I should fax over the documents showing them proof it was paid since the first collection agency failed to follow up with the original creditor. If that didn't work, then we would proceed to plan B. After gathering my thoughts, I went home and did what he instructed. I contacted the creditor, explained the situation, and faxed over the documents. A little bit later, I called back to make sure they received everything. They then explained to me that they faxed this information over to my employer to withdraw the garnishment, and they would stop collection efforts. That really made my day! I have never experienced wage garnishment before, and I was upset and full of anxiety that collections came after me again after I paid off this debt, but Mr. Ewetuga knew exactly what to do! I know some attorneys would have figured out a way to just drag this out and charge me a huge bill, but his payment was definitely reasonable as well as his services. Thank you Mr. Ewetuga!

We were very satisfied with our customer care with Mr. Ewetuga and appreciate his professional services. Highly recommended.

Words can't describe how helpful Attorney Michael Ewetuga was for me. I was desperate to find answers for all the questions I had regarding possible charges against me. He answered all of my questions and met with me the same day. I highly recommend him, he is an amazing attorney that knows what he is doing. Anyone that I know that needs a laywer I make sure I refer them to him. He has performed at levels for me and family that helped us be confident that the case would work out for a greater good and Attorney Michael Ewetuga is the key to that greater good!

Elizabeth powell, is not only one of the best attorneys I've ever worked with, but one of the most understanding attorneys as well. She was not able to take my wife and I on as official clients, as she works for the Pierce County Housing Authority, but due to our special situation, and the fact that she had dealt with the company that was illegally trying to get money out of us, in the past, she decided to help us. He was not only very detailed and willing to do what she could, but she gave us some amazing advice, that helped us out of a very bad financial situation. I would recommend Elizabeth Powell to anyone seeking legal assistance, in Pierce county, Washington state.

Stuart Morgan is the best litigation attorney in town! We were so lucky that Stu was so highly recommended by many people within our community. Stu helped my husband and I through a very difficult time in our lives, he was so supportive, honest and fought hard for our family’s rights! We are thankful for Grady Heins, who stepped in at a hearing when Stu was unavailable and Grady was outstanding! Stu and Grady’s legal assistant, Amy Shackelford was also amazing! She was so quick and efficient! Stu, Grady and Amy is a outstanding legal team and Ledger Square Law is highly recommended to all my family and friends!

After a month of leaving contract requests on their web page, and voice messages, someone contacted me and said they would pass on my request. Then after another week, an assistant told me that they were too busy to help me. This is arrogant, unprofessional, and just plain rude. I wouldn't have persisted except that our attorney recommended them for another matter. Firms like this explains why lawyers get such a bad rap.

Emailed a few times, maybe 3 times, in regard to a refund on the remainder of a payment I made for services not received. I was not rude in any of them but firm on wanting the refund and inquiring when that would be. Lance called me with reasons why I “disregarded” the agreement I signed. I said I want to know if I will be receiving a refund or not from the firm, otherwise, I would do my part on recovering the remainder of funds. He then states, “I guess this ends our working relationship, idk who else you’ll complain to” I’m not sure why Lance felt comfortable enough to speak to me in this manner but I don’t appreciate it and I would advise against hiring someone who is rude for no apparent reason. Bob Helland helped me with an overpayment of Child Support, however the judge the didnt find in my favor, but it wasnt because we lacked a thorough case. Bob always was available for questions and his staff put in lots of hours auditing my payments. His staff is also easy to talk to and work with. And on top of that, they have been exceptional with handling payments to my account. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Bob Helland!! Don was the best attorney I have had to date. I had my divorce in Spokane buy an attorney who lost the paperwork. The attorney I hired after that in Spokane was effective but rude. Once I moved here, right on schedule the ex was finding things to go to court over, since abusing in person was no longer an option. I was so fortunate to find Don who was very well respected by his piers and served on the board of regents and as a Judge at times. Don was effective, considerate and thorough. What a pleasure under such a stressful situation to have someone who was so competent. Thank you Don!

I hired Mr. Cochran years ago, when he was with another law firm, and he did an outstanding job, winning us both a substantial amount of money. Fast forward 18 years, and I'm once again in need of a good attorney, for a job related injury. So, i look up Mr. Cochran, and reach out to his law firm. After several emails with his assistant, a phone consultation is arranged. During the conversation he says that he's not sure if he can represent me, and is also unsure if I can sue my employer, or if I'll have to sue workers comp. He tells me that he will look into it, and if he's unable to represent me, he'll talk to some buddies in Idaho (where I'm at), and recommend someone to me. After 3+ months of writing emails back and forth with his assistant, and never getting any answers, I've decided to move on, and find another attorney. I have no doubt, that Mr. Cochran is a brilliant attorney, i just wonder about his character

i’m not sure exactly why Darrell is at four stars on this rating ,when he should be at five and preferably 10 ,Mr. Cochran visited me when I was in a state penitentiary ,and with his own time and resources he battled insurance companies and the state Attorney General’s office , who with unlimited resources at their disposal re fused to admit liability in my case or accept any culpibility, Darrell steadfastly protected my interests when at the time I was indigent and had no resources to fight these huge entities that were violating my civil rights and liberties ..Mr. Cochran has throughout his entire career made it a staple to his itinerary to fight for people who cannot afford to fight for themselves against entities and corporations with unlimited resources who utilize their power and influence to violate the civil liberties of others ..Darrell Cochran embodies every attribute that I wish every attorney in the state or in the country had for their professionalism ,,,put it quite simply the best Atty I’ve ever seen in my life, and that’s a fact

First and foremost thank you very much Mr. Steve Alvarez for taking care of our case in the most time efficient and manner full way. This is the second time Mr. Alvarez has helped I and my family in a car accident case not to mention that both cases were handled as I imagined. I and my family highly recommend Mr. Steve Alvarez and his team to take your case into his hands. Mr. Alvarez assistant Nora was very helpful to us, Nora kept us up to date with all the information, if we weren't available she would leave a detailed voice mail and a email. Both Mr. Alvarez and Nora kept a professional and positive attitude and were very patient with I and my girlfriend. Finding a great, but most importantly hard working lawyer can be hard these days and scary too because there aren't a lot of honest and kind lawyers out here left... I would say in my opinion its not always about the degree the lawyers have rather more than how they talk to you and connect with you because whats a good case built without trust? What we loved about Mr. Alvarez is that any question we had he answered it, if he didnt knew the answer to the question at the moment he would get back to us with an answer later. If I and my family were ever to need Mr. Alvarez to represent us we wouldn't hesitate to contact Mr. Alvarez again. I and my girlfriend cant thank them enough for all their hard work they put in our case. Thank you for your time and attention.

I was referred by a friend that says he does his best to make sure that he get's the compensation that I deserve. He keeps saying to stay tuned that he has everyone handled. I keep getting calls from collections that I'm late on my car payments and insurance when he says that he will help me handle it. It's been six months since my accident and still no results. I'm about to have my first son and I'm so stressed out and he's not doing his job to make sure my case is taken care of. I regret going with him and wish that I would've went with another attorney since there's so many there. My credit is shot, my hospital bills are racking up and he's not making my situation any better. I wish for clarity of the direction of my case but I have no idea. I have friends, family and colleagues who check in with me about my situation and I am embarrassed to say that I have no idea what is going on. I'm ashamed of my decision to hire Attorney Alvarez.

He represented me in my divorce and was very responsive and helpful throughout the process, that is until I paid him. I received a portion of my settlement and he held $1000 in trust in case any issues came up. Since then, I have not gotten my settlement in it’s entirety, and have made several attempts to contact Joel because he has my money in trust. I have explained the issue via email, and in my many voicemails, all of which are documented. He recently (FINALLY) responded after several months asking what the issue was. Are you kidding me? And then he charged me for that response never acknowledging my actual issue. I am incredibly disappointed and am at a loss as to what to do. I will be going to the BBB with my documtation and going to the courthouse.

He was available basically 24/7 for me. He was also honest about what I might expect - he didn't just tell me what I wanted to hear. Contacted him about my car being hit in the middle of the night. The woman actually hit 3 cars, mowed down a fence, carport and light pole. Had the whole thing on camera. Took the dude 3 weeks to even call me back after I sent in everything requested. Their braindead assistant claims she called me 3 times but I checked my phone records and there was NEVER a call. Do NOT call them if you need a lawyer.

I contacted Mr Foskey about a copyright infringement complaint with no merit from a copyright mill…. Rather than state facts that - [a] copyright claims are the jurisdiction of the federal court with a minimum filing fee of 400 dollars [b] that the cost to litigate would run 10s of thousands of dollars for a 900 dollar claim that they would have to prove damages and [c] they weren’t a legal firm and had no basis to threaten legal action, he told me to just pay them. In other words he was clueless on how to deal with such matters. Avoid him.

Reached out to Mr. Foskey to take on my case with a Traffic ticket. He reviewed, let me know it might be difficult to fight. Sent him my sworn statement which he said wouldn't be necessary. Subpoenaed the WSP who never showed, ticket was thrown out. Fast, easy to work with and responsive via email - Mr. Foskey is one of the greats!

The Washington State Bar found Charlie guilty of the following misconduct. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker) Failed to communicate with client Failed to properly supervise office staff As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Washington State Supreme Court punished Charlie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand. I hired this attorney for a workers compensation claim. The office totally did nothing and dropped the ball on an issue that he was alerted to that needed to be addressed immediately. I was lectured and treated rudely by his legal assistant or whatever the person may have been (maybe just a receptionist handling my claim). I think he is too comfortable making too much money off of people doing a poor job.

David was proffesional, but instead of hiring him you should just hire his paralegal heidi; because she is likely the only one you will ever speak with. Not only that but knowing that i required more than 1 surgery and after 6 weeks on the case; as soon as my first surgery was scheduled-and the employer protested-he was so quick to drop the case after NO EFFORT WHATSOEVER. THIS GUY WILL ONLY WASTE YOUR TIME

The MVA cases for myself and my husband took almost 6 years to settle, and there were multiple "oversights" along the way. The biggest problem is that it was and remains extremely difficult to actually talk to Mr. Watson because the paralegals seem to insulate him. For example, I have called to speak to Mr. Watson for a week, left 6 messages, and was finally told that I could set a phone appointment to talk to him 3 weeks from now. The paralegals act as go- betweens, and go to extremes to not allow communication with the lawyer. When I tried to work with the paralegals, they often did not understand issues or did not follow through or did not talk to the lawyer when they should have and caused multiple delays, mulitple billing mistakes, did not update when given corrected numbers, did not allow client review of ledgers after multiple requests, caused confusion, made subrogation over-payments that we are now in the process of trying to recover, upset my health providers by giving misinformation, and had a pattern of giving contradictory information. I caught many mistakes and explained things to the paralegals (that most clients would probably not be involved enough to understand), which would have cost us many thousands of dollars . Communication simply did not and continues to not happen. Requests for communication or information are either unanswered, misunderstood, or given tardy inadequate responses. Our cases settled in November, yet it is February and my husband and I have still not received final payments, nor any communication on the case status in well over a month. This has been an extremely frustrating situation, causing as much stress as the accident itself. When I have talked to Mr. Watson, he seemed knowledgeable and likable. He said he addressed the described issues with his staff, but the situation did not improve.

I was injured on the port of Tacoma and diagnosed needing 4 FUSIONS in my lumbar spine. My orthepedic surgeon advised me that you can only get 2, so change jobs or retire. Mr. Sweeting acted as if he was sincere and caring. Then he sent me to doctors who stated "returned to pre-injury condition". Then my benefits were cut off. He led me to believe that there was to be a fight (in court). One doctor took 6 weeks to manufacture this report (and even went on vacation). I believe Sweeting agreed to NOT TAKE THESE REPORTS to court before they even wrote them. I DID send these reports to medical board, Quality assurance and NONE of the nine doctors (on the board) agreed with these reports. I persued medical malpractice, but no attorney (of about 80-100) would take the case. (there were lawyers in Tri-cities, Vancouver, and Spokane that knew who these doctors were) Unfortunately, the one I paid $1000 to review, Called Sweeting. Sweeting led me to poverty. He called me 10 times while I was hunting, saying he had to have me sign docs and return. I told him to send them to a co-hunter, he agreed. (HE NEVER SENT ANYTHING UNTIL I RETURNED to Tacoma) He called back and said "where are you calling from? How is your phone getting out?" I told him "We are camped at the intersection of *&# and 254. Within a day or so I had guys walking up to me saying "You look firmiliar, what is your name, where are you from?" FOR A WEEK at least, in 12-18 inches of snow. My friends would say "that was wierd, those guys are following you" and Sweeting refused to take them to court. He sold me out. I went 66 months with NO PAY at all. Now I finally get Soc Sec. but that $930 a WEEK THAT I AM DUE would have been nice. He is nothing more than a WHITE COLLAR CRIMINAL. PS I found out about the investigation thru a Soc. Sec. investigator that my ex-wife was calling.

What a Personal Injury Lawyer Can Do for You

A personal injury lawyer specializes in helping individuals who have been physically or emotionally injured due to the negligence or wrongful actions of another party. Whether you've been hurt in a car accident, suffered a slip and fall, or experienced medical malpractice, a personal injury attorney works to ensure you receive fair compensation for your injuries. They can help you recover damages for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other related expenses.

Personal injury lawyers act as your advocate, navigating the legal system on your behalf and dealing with insurance companies to ensure you get the compensation you deserve. They understand how to handle complex legal matters and help you avoid common pitfalls.

When Should I Hire a Personal Injury Lawyer?

Hiring a personal injury lawyer can be beneficial in many situations where you've been harmed due to another's negligence. Some key scenarios include:

  • Severe injuries: If you've suffered significant or permanent injuries that result in substantial medical bills, a lawyer can help ensure you are fairly compensated.
  • Long-term or permanent disability: Injuries that affect your ability to work or require ongoing medical treatment are complex, and a lawyer can help estimate long-term damages.
  • Disputed liability: If the responsible party or their insurance company denies liability for your injury, a lawyer can gather evidence and advocate on your behalf.
  • Insurance company lowball offers: Insurers often try to settle personal injury claims for as little as possible. A lawyer can negotiate to get you a fair settlement.
  • Medical malpractice claims: Injuries caused by a doctor, nurse, or healthcare provider due to negligence require a personal injury lawyer experienced in medical malpractice law.
  • Exposure to hazardous substances: If you've been injured due to exposure to toxins, chemicals, or dangerous substances, a lawyer can help pursue legal action.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process is crucial, especially if you're unsure of the full extent of your injuries or damages.

What Does a Personal Injury Lawyer Do?

A personal injury lawyer provides a wide range of services to guide you through the legal process and maximize your compensation. They can:

  • Evaluate your case: A lawyer will assess the strength of your claim and determine whether you have a viable case.
  • Investigate the incident: Gathering evidence such as police reports, witness statements, medical records, and expert opinions is key to building a strong case.
  • Negotiate with insurance companies: Lawyers handle communications with insurance companies to ensure you receive a fair settlement and aren't taken advantage of.
  • File a lawsuit if necessary: If a fair settlement can't be reached, the lawyer can file a personal injury lawsuit on your behalf and represent you in court.
  • Help calculate damages: This includes medical expenses, lost wages, future medical needs, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.
  • Prepare and file legal documents: Lawyers handle all the paperwork and deadlines associated with your case, including filing motions and discovery requests.
  • Represent you at trial: If your case goes to trial, the lawyer will argue your case before a judge and jury to obtain the compensation you deserve.

How Are Personal Injury Lawyers Paid?

Most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if they win your case, either through settlement or a court judgment. Here’s how it works:

  • Contingency fee percentage: The lawyer will take a percentage of the settlement or award, typically between 25% and 40%, depending on the complexity of the case and the stage at which it's resolved.
  • Costs and expenses: In addition to the contingency fee, the lawyer may deduct other costs associated with the case, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, and court costs. These expenses are often advanced by the lawyer and repaid out of the settlement.
  • No upfront payment: Since the lawyer’s fee is contingent on winning, you usually don’t pay anything upfront.

Always discuss the lawyer’s fee structure during your consultation to avoid surprises.

How Much Does a Personal Injury Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a personal injury lawyer depends on the specifics of your case and the lawyer’s fee structure. However, since most personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, the amount you pay will depend on the outcome of your case. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Contingency fees: Typically range from 25% to 40% of the settlement or award. The percentage may increase if the case goes to trial or requires an appeal.
  • Other costs: In addition to the lawyer's fee, you may be responsible for case-related expenses such as expert witness fees, medical record retrieval fees, and court costs. These are often deducted from your settlement, so you won't have to pay out of pocket.

While the cost may seem high, hiring an experienced lawyer can significantly increase the amount you recover, making it a worthwhile investment.

Top Questions to Ask a Personal Injury Lawyer

Before hiring a personal injury lawyer, it's essential to ask questions to ensure you’re choosing the right representation. Here are some important questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with personal injury cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has handled cases involving similar injuries or accidents.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a contingency fee and what percentage they will take from any settlement or award.
  3. How long will my case take?
While it's hard to predict, a lawyer can give you an estimate based on similar cases they’ve handled.
  4. How often do you take cases to trial?
Some lawyers prefer to settle quickly, while others are more comfortable going to court if necessary.
  5. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior lawyers or paralegals may handle some aspects of your case, so it's important to know who will be managing your claim.
  6. Do you have references from past clients?
Speaking with past clients can provide valuable insight into the lawyer’s effectiveness and professionalism.

How to Check the Credibility of a Personal Injury Lawyer

To ensure you’re hiring a credible personal injury lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any history of disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Online platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, and Google reviews can provide insight into the lawyer's reputation and client satisfaction.
  • Look at their track record: Review their experience with personal injury cases, particularly how many cases they’ve successfully resolved or taken to trial.
  • Ask for references: Credible lawyers should be willing to provide references from past clients who can vouch for their work.
  • Check professional memberships: Lawyers who are members of respected organizations, like the American Association for Justice (AAJ), often have a solid reputation in the field.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first meeting with a personal injury lawyer, prepare the following:

  • Detailed account of the accident: Write down everything you remember about the incident, including dates, times, and locations. Include any witnesses or police reports if available.
  • Medical records and bills: Bring any documentation of your injuries, treatments, and associated medical costs.
  • Insurance information: Provide your insurance details and any communication you’ve had with the other party’s insurance company.
  • Employment and income records: If your injury has impacted your ability to work, bring proof of lost wages or reduced earning capacity.
  • Photos or videos: If you have photos of the accident scene, your injuries, or property damage, bring them to your consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare a list of questions to ask, including how the lawyer will handle your case and what you can expect in terms of timeline and outcome.

By preparing thoroughly for your first consultation, you’ll help the lawyer understand your case more quickly and get a better sense of your legal options.
