Counselor Tyrell helped us through a very scary guardianship and adoption process. We had never been through anything like that before and the waters were extremely difficult to navigate as we worked to get all the necessary documents, signatures, interviews and court orders in place. Adopting a child, especially a child with which you've bonded, can be incredibly stressful and worrisome because until it is all done there is the constant fear some agent or agency may deny your application for a myriad of possible reasons! Add our unfamiliarity with the adoption process as a whole and you get the fearful, frantic couple that was us for the 3 years that it took to complete the adoption. The difficulties stemmed from the number of transactions that needed to take place between the State of Nevada, our daughter's birthplace and the current location of the birthparents which encompassed 3 different states altogether. Counselor Tyrell was very thorough and precise in providing guidance to us and helping us meet every requirement put forth by all jurisdictions/agencies involved! She was accommodating and informative EVERY step of the way. She held our hand through the entire process and was our constant rock when we would have bouts of discouragement! Her determination and concern for the success of our adoption application was clearly genuine to us. She became far more than just legal counsel. She became family to us and it's a relationship we will continue to maintain for the rest of our thankful lives! We cant say enough about her competence, drive, character, and compassion! Counselor Tyrell is everything we could have hoped for in a lawyer and in a friend affectionately known by our daughter as "Auntie Elyse"! The adoption of our grandchild was a very emotional and stressful time for my wife and me. We consider ourselves very fortunate that Elyse Tyrell was our attorney in this matter. We found Elyse to be not only extremely competent and professional in handling the legal aspects of our case but also very caring and compassionate during a difficult time for us. I had a great experience with Mrs. Tyrell and her staff. She put together my advance directive and living will prior to the birth of my baby. My father and I made an appointment with Marjorie to discuss preparing a will and trust. Marjorie and her staff were all very professional, warm and very nice. They treated my father respectfully and explained everything very simply and to the point. They were always happy to help in any way that they could and were accessible by phone or email at a moment's notice. Their offices are very nice and the receptionist always had a smile when she greeted me. Her assistant was always prompt ahnd courteous, and they always made sure to follow up with us. Having to find legal representation is about as fun as going to the DMV. I'm glad I found Shauna because she made my life a whole lot easier. My ex-husband ran away with my kids which wasn't what we had agreed to. She and her staff found the court documents and summoned him to court. Needless to say it didn't turn out well for him. I have had to use way too many lawyers over the years just dealing with my business and getting divorce and it's never fun. Shauna I wouldn't say was fun but she did make it easy. I felt she kept me in the loop which I can't say for a few other lawyers I have used in the past. Being out of the loop is a total feeling of helplessness and it really bugged me to no end. Her team called me on a regular basis not only to keep me updated but to see how I was doing. How cool is that? It looks like I found my lawyer for the future.

My sister and I interviewed four estate planning attorneys, with one of them being James Owens. After the interviews it was a unanimous decision that James was the person we wanted to work with. He was much more friendly and personal than the others and his prices were significantly lower. We felt extremely comfortable with him. With the others it seemed like it would be strictly business and you would be “nickeled and dimed” for everything. After we hired James, he created a trust and an LLC for our mother. He did not disappoint us. We felt like we were dealing with a friend who genuinely wanted to help. My mother also loved working with him. James will not disappoint you and you will be very glad you chose him!

I've talked about doing a trust/will for two years. I talked to family and friends, and only one person I know has done this professionally, but couldn't remember details, so I decided to let my spirit lead me. I did a google search, and came across The Marshall Law office on Eastern... (not to be confused with Marshall law on 8th St.) Anyway, Sam Marshall has videos on his website explaining about wills, trust, probate, and after getting a better understanding, I decided to schedule an appointment. My appointment was with James Owens, and after we spoke, I knew that he was the one. He is patient, thorough, and his humor made me relax through this serious process. I'm not from the area but my 90 year old mother is, she recently lost her husband and he had done nothing towards a will. I called a few places in Henderson, and all I had was SLOW responses, misunderstood emails, and sometimes triple the price for what Marshall law did for us.
Was such a positive experience, we made an appointment, we came into a comfortable, professional environment, and we got it done!!! James C. Owens and Anastasia Castleberry were informative, helpful and thorough and If you need a living trust this is the place!!

DO NOT HIRE THEM!!!!!
Contacted them to get information regarding guardianship and explained the situation and they said they could take my case. They emailed me some documents to signed and then needed me to pay $400 for court fees. I didn’t pay the $400 right away and they called EVERY SINGLE DAY early morning bothering me to pay the $400. When I finally paid it, within days they told me they couldn’t take my case because the person I’m trying to file guardianship isn’t in Nevada. Although I explained everything before hand and even called them when I was filling out one of the forms they needed me to sign. Now they are giving me the runaround about my $400 refund. Iva called many times and the attorney is always “busy” and promises to call back that day but never does. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Kim was recommended to us long ago. We are so glad now that we entrusted to her the revision of our legal/estate documents. Kim is really an expert in elder law. We previously used a different group and can clearly see Kim is much better. Kim and Danielle really listened to what we wanted and carefully included those clauses in our docs. I found Jeremy on the internet. He had no reviews and was a bit reserved on the phone when we first talked. Michael’s clerk/secretary was very kind, friendly, and understanding. The soonest appointment they had for a consultation was several days away, but she told me she would ask him if he would make time and call me that day.
He did call while I was on the phone with the other attorney’s office, and I missed the call. I called Michael’s office back, and both he and his secretary were still kind and willing.
Michael and his secretary/clerk were both warm, friendly, willing to listen and answer questions without interrupting. The other attorney’s office I consulted (Patrick King in Carson City) had a helpful and willing clerk, but she interrupted and spoke over me a lot. The speed she discussed the issues with made it difficult to take notes, but Michael Millward was very understanding of waiting while I wrote down what he said to later share with my husband. He also spoke with me directly for the consultation instead of a clerk.
My mother-in-law passed away intestate (without a will) over the weekend and my sister-in-law’s family didn’t understand how probate works and were already going through our mother’s belongings and throwing them away. They had no intention of filing for probate and didn’t understand that it isn’t optional and is legally required.
We all planned on needing to empty out the mobile home and possibly make repairs and renovations. We didn’t know what creditors Mom had or what assets. We knew she had a lot of medical bills and a small car loan. We were looking at having to do a *massive* amount of work, and it was very stressful.
Since Mom’s estate likely would have more liabilities than assets, Michael informed me that we don’t have to do the probate process and don’t have to administer the estate ourselves.
We can hand this over to the Carson City Public Administrator who handles estates for individuals with no will. Michael looked up the phone number after I asked for it. Phone number: 775-887-2260. Michael informed me that it might be the clerk’s office that answers because it appears that they share a division or office space; if so, ask for the administrator.
Michael, said to tell the administrator that a family member died, the cremation is handled, and no one in the family is interested in administering the estate.
That’s basically it.
There’s probably paperwork to sign, but we don’t have to do all the hard work we were planning on.
Again, we don’t have to clean out her house, dump her belongings, pay her rent, sell her house, or pay her bills. We don’t have to do anything beyond the cremation.
We *can* get photos and heirlooms, too, before handing it over.
Isn’t that wonderful??
I received a free consultation. I told Michael that I would gladly pay him for his time for the extremely helpful advice, but he said it wasn’t necessary. He also welcomed me to call back if I had any other questions.
Months ago we consulted a different estate/elder law attorney regarding my mother-in-law, Ernie Adler, and he was awful. He was disinterested, unhelpful, wasn’t friendly, answered our questions to a minimum or not at all, couldn’t answer some of them (said he didn’t know), and charged $200 for the brief consultation (less than 30 minutes).
Michael Millward was the stark and complete opposite. We highly recommend him!

After contacting other attorneys who wanted to charge me a consulting fee, I was referred to Alexis by a friend. I never really have understood a consulting fee. I feel the purpose of meeting with an attorney is an interview process to determine whether you believe that person would be a good fit and to decide if you choose to hire them or not.
