Called 9 months ago to get set up with a lawyer through LaRowe Gerlach. Just for standard business paperwork and whatnot. I was directed to Max and had a phone call with him, where he said he’d work with us. I sent over the documents he requested and then proceeded to wait for a reply.
Over the next few months I called in several times, figuring he had simply been busy, but always spoke to a secretary who said he would call me. He never did. I eventually asked if he was not interested in having us as a client and was assured he was.
Finally I called asking to get linked up with a different partner and the secretary refused to direct me to another partner. Saying Max would call me.
It has been over 9 months and I have still only heard from max the one time. I wish I could speak on behalf of any other partner, but apparently the firm as a whole won’t let you switch once someone has dibs on you, even if they don’t actually intend on doing any work with you.
Mostly frustrated that they wouldn’t just say “we are not interested” and instead proceeded to waste my time. Very unprofessional.

I contacted LaRowe Gerlach LLP regarding a legal matter that I wanted to ask them to represent me on. The operator transferred me to Mr. Joseph Hesler’s voicemail , as he would be the most qualified attorney at the firm in that matter. After I left him a detailed message, a few minutes later he calls me back and started treating me like I am some sort of a spam caller. He was very rude and asked me how did I get his number and why did I call him. After I briefly explained that I left him a voicemail and I had called the office to seek representation in a legal matter, he said that he no longer accepts new clients and hung up on me. Of course this surprised and shocked me at the same time to why an attorney would do that to a potential client. I called the office again to talk to the operator. After I told her what happened, her answer was: “Well, you might as well keep looking around.”
So there is my experience with this firm. I’ve had contact with some other law firms and attorneys in the past, but nobody had treated me and talked to me like these guys did. So do yourself a favor and “keep looking around”. They are not worth your time or your money.

Ms. Karls did not seem skilled in estate/probate matters. She was our attorney for over two years on what should have been an open-and-shut probate case. She did a poor job advising on estate matters, often giving conflicting advice to the executor and beneficiaries. No one was clear on what approximate timelines were, what next steps were, and whether Ms. Karls was advising the executor. Her fees mounted and the probate deadlines got pushed back further and further until it was necessary to hire a different estate attorney.
I would not hire Ms. Karls for any future legal matters, specifically anything probate related.

I met with a few other divorce lawyers around the Madison area but ended up choosing Nanette as my attorney. She was wonderful and treated me with care and compassion during a very difficult time in my life. Her knowledge and understanding of the ins and outs of divorce helped me feel confident in the outcome and I knew she was working hard for the best interests of me and my children. I would recommend Nanette and her office to anyone looking for an attorney and I would definitely hire her again for legal help in the future.

I hired Nanette Karls to handle my divorce proceedings in 2016. She is pleasant to talk to, but I had multiple issues with attention to detail, lack of communication and privacy issues. Multiple times, Atty Karls selected the wrong person in her email contacts when exchanging very private and confidential documents about my divorce proceedings with my ex-husband and his attorney. The incorrect contact was a former client of hers, and he continued to receive information such as my social security number, name and address, financial information, etc. I brought these errors to her attention each time, but it continued to happen throughout the entire process. I would not return to Atty Karls for additional work.

Chris Hueneke supercedes ALL factors one would seek in an attorney, and I am ever so grateful that I found him, and that he warmly agreed to accept my case.
Due to the extreme negligence endured from a previous attorney who started my father's probate case, Chris was assuredly handed an atypical,intricate situation. He not only had to amend multiple, crucial errors that were initially made, but also had to ensure that the case continued to flow in a timely manner.
Prior to finding Attorney Chris, there were days I would just cry, feeling stuck and not sure how to proceed appropriately with the mess that had already been created by a claimed professional (previous laywer). However, after working with Chris directly, its no wonder this man won Super Lawyer multiple years in a row for his outstanding work. From my initial visit, to the closing of the estate, Chris went above and beyond to kindly and thoroughly list and explain EVERY STEP, and even the ones subsequent to the present. His communication is amazing, he is a true pleasure to work with, and his navigation through this case was beautifully done. My personal situation required an intelligent individual, who was particularly knowledgeable on all avenues of estate law. Needless to say, Chris fit the bill and highly exceeded any expectations held. Not once was I left with unanswered questions, and I always felt 100% trust with Chris because I knew he sincerely cared...period. I very much admire him, as his qualities and actions deserve respect and praise. He is a true master at his craft!

Me and my siblings hired Chris for a Probate case after our parents passed. I have a minor complaint that I felt rushed. He hired a real estate agent to sell the house, which seemed to be a good friend of his. That is ok, but I did not feel like the real estate agent was on our side, which reflected badly on Chris. That situation could have been avoided if we got our own real estate agent, but we put full trust into Chris.
I gave Chris 5 stars because his patience was extraordinary. I know we tested his patience and I commend him for hanging in there for us. At times I felt like he went above and beyond for us.He was very professional, very organized, and very personable. He answered all our questions quickly and was always readily available. I would definitely recommend him.

I hired Chris for a child support case, many times during the process I wasn't sure if Chris was on my side or on my Ex's side. The opposing attorney snuck a court order containing many unfavorable and unfair clauses with Chris's approval and without Chris consulting with me and getting my OK, I am definitely not happy with his performance.

Should be 0* went there recording them as they were with there doorbell. Didn't answer or call back in 2 years now they said the person didn't work there and took the case with that person. Until we showed her she keeps files for 7 years. Do not go here. Better off paying the DA. UNPROFESSIONAL LIE NEVER DID ANYTHING FOR A CASE AND WE DONT REPRESENT THAT PERSON. I CAN HELP MORE.

Sought “free legal advice”...this guy turned a 20-minute phone call in May 2016 into a money-grab of over $300 just this week. Be-littles me at every turn and sadly, has a history of a money grab. We contacted Mr. Kelly and explained our situation. Mr. Kelly went right to work for us and was able to make progress on our case that we could not. He was able to get the WIAA to understand our situation and rule in our favor. We are truly greatful and look forward to watching our son compete in high school without any eligibility restrictions.

Terrible attorney, charges so much for no work done. You can never talk to her only her staff answers but you get billed at her rate. She takes light years to do anything on your case and just blows you off most of the time. Her staff is also rude and tells the opposing party secret information in your file.

Was $163 dollars to talk to her for the first time consultation to see if we had a case or what we could do. Basically everything was $6000 dollars for each process of the cause basically had I don’t care attitude on the matter in discussion and looked like she would rather be anywhere else but there. I attempted to retain Mr. Tepper's services, and after a brief conversation, he said he would call me back the same day after reviewing the file. He never called back...ever. I tried to call him numerous times thereafter, and he never returned my call. In my opinion, this shows an extreme lack of character and professionalism. With so many attorneys available, why would you choose someone who truly doesn't care.

Jerome Tepper represented me in a divorce case and a follow-up for child support reduction due to change in employment circumstances (non-W2 to W2). I found him reliable and very patient, considering I am not. Jerome handled my case professionally. Contrary to his own financial interests, he always encouraged me to "work things out" with my ex-spouse and seek an agreement to avoid unnecessary legal hassles and fees. While this proved difficult, it was definitely worth the effort pursued, and Jerome's encouragement of this approach says much for his personal character!
I also found Jerome to be accurate and (yet sometimes) intentionally vague in his explanations of how family law is suppose to work. Jerome would rarely state with certainty how a judge would (or should) rule for my case. I'm not sure if Jerome was simply being cautious or if judge rulings are inherently unpredictable in family law cases. This uncertainty was unsettling to me during my divorce, yet Jerome maintained his professionalism by providing me with the accurate information he could and not speculating on outcomes he couldn't guarantee!

Michael End is negative and unmotivated with no remorse in how he treated me and my family.
This entire law firm should be ashamed!

My attorney Chris had show nothing but professionalism but at the same time the pitbull I needed with handling and tackling issues head on while keep a cool calm demeanor in the process since the day I met him over a year ago when he was with the last law firm.
Mallery and Chris go hand and hand ans they make a great team. I knew front the moment I met Chris a year ago he was definitely the attorney for me. Super glad I I followed him over to Mallery and one of the best choices that I've could have made. I got a great offer on the table and I couldn't have done it without my attorney's team being involved.

LOL! I found these reviews amusing, especially the negative ones. Most people don't take the time to write positive reviews, but negative ones always abound.
I have known, or known of, Attorney Knoke since the 80's when I was a law clerk for an attorney in Brodhead. Working in a law office as a law clerk for a year and working for attorneys as a licensed legal investigator for ten years, I am well aware of the complaints and issues that some clients have with their law offices. Practicing law is just like practicing medicine - it's not perfect science and you don't always get the results you were expecting or wanted. This includes the lawyers and what they expected or told you they thought!
There are many reasons clients don't like an outcome in their cases and may leave a negative review. Some are just looking for an excuse not to pay their bill. I assure you, for every negative review on here there is, as Paul Harvey use to say, a "rest of the story." My father, may he rest in peace, told me to "always pay your lawyer because you never know when you are going to need him again!" Good advice.
Since those days when I was working for lawyers, I have used this law office several times for a variety of issues and sent others there over the last thirty plus years. Things didn't always meet with my expectations or on my time schedule, but the experience and character of Attorney Knoke is unquestionable. I have known many attorneys in this area and chose this firm for my personal needs. I recommend this firm highly.
Are they often frustratingly slow and do most of them charge way to much for their expertise? Hell, yes! Let me tell you though, those I have worked closely with on cases, all have been incredibly overloaded, overworked, unappreciated, had language and accusation hurled at them, and yet dedicated their practices to helping people. For every negative review on here, there are probably a hundred satisfied people who were helped.
So, take the negative reviews here with a grain of salt. There's more to the "story."

Attorney Geyer represented me during my divorce and, most recently, helped me prepare my will. His long tenure practicing law is clearly evident after speaking with him. He guided me through every step of the process. He addressed any concerns I had very promptly and made any changes necessary to documents right away. He was always available through the entire process. One of his greatest attributes was his ability to provide me with advice and guidance, but ultimately left it up to me to make a final decision. He would give honest, objective feedback on every decision. He showed great care and compassion through this difficult time in my life. I have recommended his services to friends. I would highly recommend Attorney Geyer to anyone who needs a knowledgeable, seasoned lawyer.

Excessive, unjustified billing.
Numerous errors by him, his staff and his chosen "experts."
I was totally dissatisfied with his performance.
I would go to court without an attorney before I'd use him if I had it to do over.

After moving to Janesville one year ago, our Realtor recommended the McDonald's firm to us. For updating our will, the cost we incurred from Patrick McDonald was much better than the average price charged by other law firms in the area.
The initial interview was by phone due to the pandemic. Patrick was engaging, making the entire process painless and actually enjoyable. He also assisted our friend's will update a few weeks ago.
I cannot speak for the other person who gave this firm only one star. Noting that it is the only review, my feeling is that this was perhaps an anomaly. We are all very happy with the work the firm processed for us and the fee for that work was very reasonable.

I hired his firm a number of years ago after talking to Patricks brother. I was told that he would contact the insurance co and say we wanted $200,000 and then we can settle for $100,000 and they will think they are getting off very good. Just sign the paper. Well I signed and the letter he sent the insurance co. was for $20,000 not $200000 and I ended up with $5300 after his cut.He charged $1.00 per copy for every paper he sent out plus other charges that I could not prove he did. He sent about 6 or 7 copies of everything.That totaled hundreds of dollars.After being dragged out a long time I only ended up with a few hundred dollars more then if I would have taken the insurance co offer.I told him I was going to make a complaint against him and he said go ahead because he was on the board that would hear the complaint and he would dismiss it. Well that was one of the truthful things he said. He was on the board and it got dismissed. I would not recommend this firm to anyone. I remember part way thru this his brother gave the case to Patrick and said he was very familiar with this case. NOT! He did not even know what happened in the accident so I had to explain everything about the accident to him. And he was pleading my case for me.

Went to this place to get a trust for my properties and he asked me about all my other things I owned and I told him it wasn't worth anything. Long story short I was in his office maybe 3 hours top and it cost $4000 dollars.
Didn't get anything out of it ,stay away from this organization unless you have money to give to someone that doesn't listen to what you want.

Attorney Kimes is a very friendly and attentive. I liked that he listens, is responsive to your concerns in an empathetic manner. He trulybgets to know you as a person, then addresses your needs in a proper business style. The office is small but furnished with comfortable furniture. Would not recommend Jennifer Brown at all. Does not respond in a timely fashion, if you can get her to respond at all. Best case you will get to talk to her paralegel. Is not strategic at all in her planning. Doesnt seem to fight for her clients. Court experience was she was not willing to go that extra mile or have any fight in her.

Didn't get the pleasure of hiring this individual, since he answered the phone and talked to me rudely. I suggest better treatment for potential clients in the future. I simply inquired about a free consultation. What I received wad a barrage of hypothetical scenarios that he won't do. Such as answer indefinite questions, since and I quote "that's what we get paid for." I understand you may get those people looking for free advice. I suggest you hold back the rant long enough to see if it's even necessary.

Do not go here, I dealt with Jason Martell, but if the rest of the firm is ok with his attitude, don’t go to any of them. My wife and I’s first visit for a will/ trust. He( Jason) took a phone call in the middle of our meeting. He actually held his finger up at us while he took it from his kids about getting locked out of a car at home. Then told us about it for 10 more minutes. The next time was worse, I had questions about the will trust he drew up, and he just got aggressive and agitated with every question. I think he just wanted us to sign and get paid, but you actually need a lawyer to read what a lawyer says in a will. I think he forgot he was working for us, he seriously was just a jerk( putting it mildly). Do your research and check his history, I didn’t till after. I walked out of the second meeting. I should’ve walked out of the first.
