If you are looking for an AMAZING Real Estate Attorney, look no further!!! I purchased my 1st home last year. It was QUITE a whirlwind of an experience, to say the least!!! Emotions were high and the decision making process was not a fun experience!! However, hiring the right Attorney makes a HUGE difference in the home-buying process!!! To say that Attorney Staci Rhoads was INCREDIBLE throughout the whole intimidating process is a HUGE understatement!! She was EXTREMELY supportive, EXTREMELY knowledgeable, EXTREMELY helpful, and went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure this VERY intimidating and emotional process went smoothly, and that everything was prepared long before my closing date!!! She was AWESOME to work with professionally (with the sellers agent, sellers attorney, the Association, and my lender) and personally (to make sure I was taken care of emotionally and mentally, she prepared all the paperwork, got everything in order, responded to my emails, phone calls and texts in a VERY timely manner)!!! I used James for my recent Chicago condo purchase, which he made an extremely smooth and painless process. James answered all of my questions and always responded to my emails very quickly (even late at night and over weekends). Whenever I had a question, concern, or problem, James always made time to talk to me that day (usually within a few hours of my initial email to them). Even more fantastic was that James, the founding partner, is the one who took my calls and returned my emails, as opposed to being passed off to a lower level associate. Being incredibly familiar with the intricacies and complexities of Chicago condo purchases, James also made sure that the overall purchase process was proceeding as scheduled.
James' experience and expertise were especially demonstrated during the closing at the title office, where he spotted that the PIN number on the property was written incorrectly on some of the closing documents. Thank goodness for his attention to detail because that could have been a huge problem down the road.
James sat with me through the entire closing and explained the entire closing process. He even keeps the closing documents for 7 years at his office in the event that I lose mine - now that's a great client experience!
I highly recommended James to a number of my colleagues and they all enjoyed working with him as well. James emailed me to thank me for each of the people that I referred to him.
I can't recommend James (and his staff) enough. They are incredibly professional, experienced, and responsive.

I hired a contractor to complete a large amount of work on my fixer-upper house I had purchased, which was also my first home purchase. The contractor I hired not only butchered the work he was performing, but he was further damaging my home, and did not even pass any inspections with my county! We had a contract signed for around $43,000. I called him over to discuss my concerns with his work, and he walked out on me! I ultimately terminated him due to his unprofessionalism and poor work. He filed a lien on my home so no other contractor or myself could touch it to continue the work on my home, and I couldn’t sell it considering! I contacted John, and John was cool, calm and collected the entire time since day 1, assuring me he know EXACTLY what to do! HE SURE DID! This was my first time ever needing to hire a lawyer, and he did not disappoint! He was very quick and got right to the nitty gritty of what needed to be done! He got my first lien removed, the contractor filed another, so he got that one removed as well and got the county to sign a judicial order prohibiting the contractor from filing any further liens with the recorders office! I was able to sell the house within the next week and have finally closed on my potential forever home! All thanks to John! If it wasn’t for John, I would still be dealing with a disaster and paying on a home I couldn’t even live in! If you EVER have any issues with a contractor doing the same things to you, trust John! I promise you won’t regret it! He will get the job done!

David Sternfield was a fair and honest Lawyer. He focused primarily on the goal and did his best to accommodate my needs. In the end I got the custody I wanted along with a very fair agreement on transportation. David was capable of handling most of the work while I was in Nevada. When I started looking into getting divorced, I was pretty nervous as one would imagine. I did some research and ended up getting in touch with Jerry. He was very professional and quickly found a way to settle my nerves. One thing that struck me was after talking about typical general scenarios, he recommended that my ex and I try to settle as much as possible on our own as it would alleviate needlessly dragging things on, only making both parties lawyers richer. I did retain Jerry to represent me through the divorce and he was absolutely true to his advice. My ex and I were able to quickly agree on things and the divorce was final very quickly. First and foremost, before reading my review, you should know that Mazyar is the best at real estate and bankruptcy law in DuPage county. Just call him if this is what you are looking for expertise in.
We had a referral to two prestigious firms in the area from a very prominent retired local attorney that had years of running an extremely successful practice that still operates. The first one said that is a difficult case and it sounds like too much time. The second one said that is out of my league; referred yet another lawyer and that lawyer even declined our case.
We then called Mazyar. He knew it was tough, but said “I can handle that”. He was quick to assess our situation and very transparent about options; Mazyar and his associates were responsive every step of the way. I tried to think I knew options, but Mazyar is the lawyer he knew every angle, every option. If we didn’t have him and his team in our court we likely would have lost everything. It took about 4 months to resolve things and he would give me updates and reassure us every step of the way.
When it came down to the final days he was finding every way possible to save me a few dollars, and prevented certain individuals from taking more advantage of us. He knew exactly when to negotiate, and what legal procedures to follow.
His rates were reasonable, and never saw a bill and thought what is this charge for.
Seriously, do not look elsewhere. If you need a lawyer for real estate or bankruptcy in Chicago there isn’t a better one.
By the end of all of this I felt like Mazyar, Nayeli, and Trudi are like friends to us after what we went through; just really good people. I was trying to find help for my brother regarding a child support case. He had waited until the last minute and was completely unprepared for his court appearance, which was only a couple days away. I contacted the Chicago Bar and was referred to Joanne Bruzgul.
I was a little surprised when I actually reached someone on a Friday afternoon, and after explaining my situation to her Associate, I was told that Joanne would review the information, and I would get a call back if she was able to help. Amazingly, I got a call back that same day (after 5pm), and we spent a good half hour going over my brother's case.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get my brother to commit to using her services, but I was extremely grateful for the generous amount of time Joanne took to go through his options with me.
