Chris Fotopoulos provided outstanding legal services for both the sale of our first home and the complicated purchase of our second. In fact, Mr. Fotopoulos was also responsible for the painless purchase of our first home almost 3 years ago as well! He patiently guided us through the entire process of buying a new construction condo, while negotiating a time-sensitive sale of our first home. Chris has handled the closings on two properties my Husband and I own, and each one went as smooth as silk. The thing we like best about Chris is the fact that "there are no stupid questions" from his client to him, and he makes sure all your questions are answered to your satisfaction before he will allow you to sign off on anything. Alex volunteered at our nonprofit community service organization a few months ago and imparted a tremendous amount of information and knowledge he had about the housing sector to our staff. Our organization provides free housing counseling services for the public, to help them prevent foreclosures and/or resolve tenant-landlord issues. In order to help us better understand and apply for a first-time fair housing grant, Alex volunteered his time and skills and helped us write an incredible grant proposal- one in which scored in the 90th percentile- to help us create a new fair housing program at our organization. Alex spent several weeks volunteering with us, patiently working with us and educating us on the topic. This was our very first application for this type of grant and even though we were not selected, our organization's proposal scored in 90th percentile bracket out of the many thousands of applications received. We are convinced that the knowledge and information he imparted on our housing staff was tremendous, which now helps them better understand complex fair housing issues. During this process, we discovered that Alex had a great training history in this arena, because he was a fair housing clinic participant during his law school days. This combined with his passion to help people in need, provides him with an excellent knowledge of the law along with real hands-on fair housing and landlord tenant assistance experience.

We were very satisfied with the service we received from Ms. Tarr, we would highly recommend her. In the process of purchasing our home she kept us informed in detailed from beginning to end. She demonstrated she had our best interest at closing due to some diffilculties we came across with the sellers. She quickly constructed a legal agreement at closing in order to make sure the sellers removed all their items from the property. Or they would have to pay us for storage. We would not hesitate to obtain her services again.

Tom has been a great resource as our family lawyer. Jesse Guth was recommended to by another attorney. I didn't know what I needed. Jesse was informative. I was run over as a pedestrian, Jesse encouraged me to find treatment that suited me. When I was discouraged and thought we should quit, Jesse heard me out. Then reiterated where we were in the process and what our goal was. The insurance company was not working with us. Jesse prepared me for trail, I was confident, not fearful. Thankfully we didn't have to go to trial. Divorce case with abuse and child endangerment concerns. I hired one attorney just before Covid, she quit. I had to them hire another, and chose one based on general local recommendations - but she allowed my abusive ex’s attorney to drag the case in for 2 years, and HUGE bills. She would forget conversations, and forget to file things. I couldn’t officially switch attorneys again mid-case, so I paid for a very affordable consult with Ruth twice. I got more information and help from her in those brief consults than I did in 2 years with my regular attorney. Knowing what I know now- I will only ever recommend Ruth!

It was my first time buying a house and I am not familiar with the process. Real estate agents will tell you one thing, the bank another, but with Heather Parker you get the facts explained clearly. Heather Parker took the time to explain every line, every charge and all the little things to look out for with the inspection and buying process. I was referred to David by a friend of mine who went through a bankruptcy himself. David and his team were absolutely top notch in their representation of my Chapter 7 case. I had a very complex case with very little assets while going through a contested divorce. David walked me through every step of the process, timely answered all my questions, and kept me and appraised of the status. He promptly replied to my divorce attorney emails as well when the case was filed, which helped me along the way. I thought initially a case like mine would cost over $10,000 and David was able to do this on a very reasonable flat fee. I strongly recommend him for anyone who is considering going through a bankruptcy and needs some guidance without the stress.

We hired Ben unseen with no references except the subdivision who gave us the names of several attorneys who have closed on homes there- Ben was one of 5. This was the sale of our fathers home. Ben was very efficient, kept things moving, was flexible and did a great job for us. He handled issues for us and told us afterward- he's the expert after all. I kept waiting for something to blow up in the deal because it seemed too smooth. Towards the end, he even met me at a coffee shop close to my office to sign something where electronic signatures wouldn't suffice- a great saver of my time. I would use Ben again if we ever do another real estate deal and recommend him heartily and without reservation.

Estate Planning with Pet Trust: Estate planning is something that is easy to put off. It’s not fun to think of one’s own mortality and I put it off for a long time. After all, I reasoned, I don’t have much money or many possessions to leave others. But I do have pets that I want to be assured will be appropriately cared for after my death. Kathy Johnson walked me through the process of creating end of life documents, and, most importantly, a pet trust. It wasn’t easy thinking about being separated from my beloved pets but Kathy gently guided me through the process of determining who will assume responsibility for them and how they should be cared for when I no longer can. She was endlessly understanding of my myriad questions and requests, patiently explaining to me all of my options in ways easily understandable for a non-legal mind. She made astute and intuitive suggestions so that I now feel assured that when I become incapacitated, any pets I have will continue to live their best lives in the homes of trusted friends. After she created the required documents and saw that they were all duly signed and notarized, she presented them to me in a lovely binder complete with easy to read instructions for whoever might need it someday. I feel that Kathy left nothing to chance, detailing every aspect of my end of life requests and from her estate planning work on my behalf, I derive great peace of mind. New Business Start-up: Kathy Johnson’s assistance was invaluable to me as I started my new, small business. She helped me understand Illinois laws, so I could make an informed choice about the legal structure of my business. Kathy obtained all of the required state and federal business identification numbers and permits; she registered my new business with all the required agencies, providing me with copies of the completed documents. She advised me on potential tax implications, wrote an iron clad liability (including COVID-19) waiver, created effective (and attractive) registration forms, and generally was available to me every time I had a question or concern. Kathy’s unswerving patience and good humor in answering my varied and sometimes atypical questions knew no bounds. We have worked with Adam on various personal and business related matters. We first worked with Adam related to a foreclosure defense where a previous attorney made quite a few mistakes and filed things incorrectly, etc. I asked Adam an extreme amount of questions, and not only did he answer them well, he didn't rush me off the phone or out of a meeting and this was a flat rate that we agreed to, so he wasn't taking his time just to keep the meter running. He simply wanted to make sure that we were confident and comfortable with the answers and our understanding of the issues. Not only did we use Adam for ourselves, but any time people have asked if we know a lawyer who can help them with X, Y or Z, I referred them to him. He's worth talking to even if it's outside of his core area. I trust his opinion and know he'd steer us in the right direction, even if it was a referral to another attorney. Lastly, my wife and I are also business owners and we've used Adam at SRM for various legal matters for our business. He's always a pleasure to talk to, he's always calm and patient, and ultimately, it's a rare experience to have an attorney who will answer your questions with respect that you too, are an educated individual. I've found other attorneys that don't want to bother to explain, as if they perceive the explanation not to matter because you won't understand it. I've never had that experience with Adam. Adam represented me in order to reach an agreement that was needed between myself and my new landlord. Not knowing what my legal rights were, was both frustrating and intimidating to say the least. Feeling bullied also made my situation worse. Adam provided knowledgeable expertise to my particular situation and made me feel fully supported by both explaining to me what my rights were, as well as conveying them to my landlord.
