Jennie Carter helped me in several ways:
First, she helped me by agreeing to engage with me as my attorney and by acknowledging me for what I had already accomplished before I engaged her, as well as encouraging and supporting me, calming down any fears and/or concerns that I had. She did this in all of our interactions.
The above is extremely important as well as her looking over a Valid Probate Settlement Agreement that I needed assistance with because prior to Jennie agreeing to become my attorney I had been attempting to obtain one who would work for and with me for six months. I had called, left messages, wrote out on-line questions and answers, went in person to attorneys' offices to at least 90 different legal entities, law schools, legal agencies, private solo attorneys, big Legal attorney firms, etc. to no avail. Many would not even return my calls, weren't accepting new clients, didn't do the type of representation that I needed, wanted to charge me thousands of dollars for items that I didn't want or need to do. It was a very frustrating, angering, saddening, dejecting, rejecting process for me. I was at my wits end as to where and who I could or should turn to next when I got the Valid Probate Settlement Agreement. Especially since I had been calling, etc. all over Topeka, Lawrence and even some in the Kansas City, Ks and Mo areas.
Once I obtained Jennie as my attorney my life and I calmed down. I didn't have to face each day knowing that I had to keep going through every means of communication possible to obtain an attorney.
Plus, as stated above it was calming and peaceful to me knowing that I had someone on my side supporting and representing me who knew the Probate laws, procedures, etc.
Jennie further demonstrated the above through how she handled the Valid Probate Settlement Agreement with and for me. She gave me her overall professional, expert legal opinion of it and whether or not it was favorable to me or not, answered questions over items that I had related to it, provided a written list of items that she felt that I should include in my next interaction with my brother's attorney as well as explained the Probate Hearing Procedures Process and other Probate items that I had questions about.
I see Jennie as a very competent, straightforward, honest, supportive, patient, informative, professional attorney and person who I felt really cared about my legal Valid Probate Settlement Agreement matter and myself and one who would go out of her way if needed to assist me. She did call me back promptly if I needed her to due to the urgency of an upcoming Court Hearing. This promptness left me feeling important and valued as well as my concerns, questions, etc.
Finally, I felt that she helps people like me by weighing and listening to what had happened in my search to obtain an attorney, what it was that I wanted her to assist me with, by being non-judgmental and being very clear, specific and direct as to what services that she would provide and the exact costs for these services and for additional services and/or her time if needed.
Words will never be able to express my deep appreciation and gratitude for who Jennie was for me as an attorney and person as well as for the services and everything that she provided for me.

When our previous attorney retired, we didn't think we needed to look for his replacement right away but life isn't always predictable. We met with Steve to rework our estate planning which included selling our farm house and acreage, recognizing a legal and safe way to handle our trust, and how to pass our assets on to our teenage boys as they mature into adulthood. He was clear, easy to understand, and gave us options that fit our goals and values. Along the way, I mentioned that my mom needed to update her 30 year old will and that we needed to designate a financial POA and a health POA for her. He asked about my dad, who has been deceased for years. He pointed out that my mom could receive some benefits from his service in the Korean War if she had medical need - and she most certainly does. In fact, due to my mom's limited mobility, Steve helped met her where she felt most comfortable. Thanks to Steve, we have our trust redefined as needed, mom's will and POAs taken care of, and another resource to help my mom as she approaches 90.

He represented me in a business lawsuit in which he displayed terrible communication, utter lack of knowledge, no courtroom skills, and a focus on not saying anything that might annoy the judge. He had his Kansas law license suspended in November 2020, and his Missouri license suspect after that. He is only good at promptly sending outrageous bills. Avoid at all costs.

We often would have concerns about the case that would arise numerous times a week, Paeten and Willie always addressed those issues in a professional, friendly manner. We were kept well informed with every step of the process as well as any issues that emerged.

I’ve sat on this review for months now. I typically just don’t say anything if it’s bad, but it’s been on my mind and heart for months now. An attorney is supposed to be an advocate and protect your best interest. Mine did anything but. The only thing protected was his pockets. A case that I could’ve settled with the other party for $7500 ended up costing me nearly three times that amount.
Here are just a few examples of why I will never recommend this firm. During my initial consultation and once I paid the retainer fee, I provided the name, D.O.B., phone number and place of employment for the other party. Three months retaining I receive an email from my lawyer, telling me they are unable to find her. Can I help by providing any information on where she works. So ,I’m being billed for a search that wasn’t even necessary.
Once we had our court hearing, the judge failed to render any decision – implying my attorney didn’t do his due diligence in contacting the other party for the quit claim issue – thus pushing the issue down the road and racking up more legal fees.
There were many instances when I would receive a text, email or phone call telling me the exact same thing – only to bill me for all three methods of correspondence. Yet my emails and phone calls were oftentimes not returned in a prompt fashion.
And again by the time we finally settled the issue, it cost me nearly 20 grand – largely due to no one actually acting as an advocate on my behalf.

I emailed Mr. Davis and requested an interview. He was agreeable to that provided I pay him $255 per hour. I appealed to his common sense, but without success. Like any prospective client, I wanted to know about his experience in matters such as mine, his availability, his expectations...you know, common questions of all clients. He informed me that not charging me for this info would be terribly unfair to all the others that iquired about his services .
Rick may be a terrific attorney for all I know. But his demands are totally unreasonable. Fortunately, he's not the only attorney around.

Jennifer Smith was appointed to the case to represent the children. Despite giving her a police report where mother admitted to doing harm and numerous other strong evidence she wrote a bias report and intentionally omitted this evidence.
But because she didn't take the stand she can't be questioned about her ethics on the case. (Sarcastic) Im sorry i didn't have another $20k to take it to trial to question you about your ethics.
Now the kids have been removed from extra curricular activities by the offending parent. The kids were hurt by this attorney failure to represent them and withhold evidence from the court.
