I found Marc Kalagian to be very patient, thorough and competent. My case was complex with several things that qualified me for benefits. I had the most horrible judge on my first appeal. I hired attorney Gaba to represent me at the Hearing level of my SSDI application. Attorney Gaba thoroughly prepared me for discussion of the evidence in my medical record with the judge. The time was finally here. Once we were all connected on the phone (hearing was conducted on the phone due to the pandemic), the judge alluded to a Summary Brief that attorney Gaba submitted on my behalf. After the formalities, the judge made an on-the-record approval. Her brief, succinctly and clearly summarized the evidence in my record for the judge, and was instrumental in him making a favorable decision from the facts without moving to the hearing. When I discovered that my former employer had fabricated complete lies about my conduct at work and attempted to slander my name and also succeeded in getting my rightful unemployment denied to me I was at a complete loss of what to do.
I called a number of lawyers who were all dismissive and/or told me I didn't have a case. I was starting to feel really disheartened and didn't think there would be a way out of this and that my former company would get away with all of these heinous untruths and lack of justice.
Then - Assaf called me back after leaving a message at his firm.
He was incredibly willing and open to speak to me and hear all of the particulars of the case completely. His energy was fantastic and he said we have a case!
Throughout the weeks leading up to the hearing he was always available and we spoke many times and he was always willing to give me an enormous amount of his time and energy.
He guided me through the entire process and helped me to see what was important and what wasn't in regards to the case.
On the day of the hearing we were prepared and ready and we laid out the entire truth of the whole situation to the judge.
A few days later we got the decision - we had won!
I honestly don't believe I would have made it without him because he was emotionally supportive and prevented me from giving up. His fee was reasonable and his willingness to work with my financial situation was admirable.
He was pretty much fantastic. He also helped me to keep all of my integrity and honesty and we won fair and square.
I would want him to help me in any legal matters whatsoever. He is a real honest guy and he changed my life with his counsel.

I had been ripped off by my previous employers, and for a whole year, they refused to answer a demand letter sent to them by the first attorney. When I got to Mr. Assaf Lichtash, he was very welcoming and positive about getting me my unpaid wages. In a short time, he sent communication to the parties and aggressively pursued the case. They would use underhanded tactics like failing to reply in time, until he took them court. They finally agreed to settle out of court, and Mr. Lichtash successfully negotiated a reasonable settlement on my behalf.
I am really grateful to him, his wonderful staff, and the professional manner in which he handled case.

When you don't know what your rights are, when you don't know what the laws say -it leaves you feeling powerless. Having an attorney's help gives you back that power. But finding one that's going to help is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I found a list of attorneys on a Google search and Mr Steven Harowitz was one of them. He answered the phone and I told him I had a few questions, could he help or direct me. I was expecting him to tell me that he thought I was someone else calling and that he didn't have any time. Instead, he was super kind and he answered my questions, specifically. His answers were well thought out. They made sense and they were helpful. Had I not called, I would have been ignorant of what my rights are and I wouldn't have known that what was bothering me happens to other people, regularly. Mr Harowitz even said to call back if I needed him again, which felt too good to be true. I called back and he was good for it.
He is an unexpected, pleasant surprise and I'm so glad that I found him. He's helpful and he's friendly.

I am so happy I hired this attorney. I have a brain tumor and was in dire need of a great attorney. He did not disappoint me. I was denied once from the Social Security ministration. Normally, I don't write reviews (as a busy working mom of a toddler..time is precious). However, my recent experience with attorney Andrew Shaffer was exceptional - above and beyond what I could have expected from an initial consultation. I recently had an initial consultation with Attorney Shaffer (following social distancing & mask of course) on behalf of my father. I was left thoroughly impressed and grateful for the following reasons:
1) Not once did he try to "market" or "sell" his service...which sometimes I get the sense when you contact some attorneys.
2 ) He was very patient - really took the time to review the facts related to my father's case and explained them to me in a way that I can understand.
3) At several points - he even frankly let me know that "given how close to the end the case is..it's not worth it for my father to pay him the fee. Instead, he simply offered me advice on how I can proceed with the case."
4) I can tell he knows his facts and is experienced with the complexity of the Worker's Compensation laws as well as which doctors would be most favorable in case of QME, etc.
Overall, unlike some other consultations I had with other attorneys (which typically took maybe ~15-20 min tops), Andrew spent almost an hour simply just providing me advice on how I can best proceed with the case on my own, if I so choose.
I'm a firm believer that actions speaks louder than words. Many individuals, attorneys included, can promise you a lot of things. However, at the end of the day, I think it's what they actually do, especially when they're not obligated to, that really says a lot about them.
For anyone who is unfortunate to suffer a work related injury, I really highly recommend that you contact Attorney Andrew Shaffer first. I only wished I had knew to do that at the very on-set. Schedule an initial consultaiton and see for yourself, don't just take my word.
In these crazy pandemic times, it's really comforting to know there are still people out there who are so willing to simply provide help.

Mr. Hunt was like a lifesaver, I had been denied 2 times already for disability social security, but unable to work. My health issues were continuing to worsen. Yet it seemed because of my age they were going to keep denying me.
He helped me get all my medical records, all 2000 pages and go before the judge.

Barbara clearly has experience with the SSDI process start to finish and she shepherded me through a complicated process by providing clear explanations every step of the way. She was mindful of the limitations of my disability allowing us to meet remotely. She has familiarity with local courts and individual ALJs. She is compassionate and professional. Disability Attorney, Barbara Mann deserves so much credit for winning my disability case. I can not give her enough praise for her steadfast commitment, compassion, smarts, and thoroughness to ensure I get my justified social security case. Of the 3 specialized attorneys I initially interviewed (So. Marin and the East Bay), Barbara was the only attorney that showed real compassion for my situation. That definitely struck a chord. People who are requesting a disability judge and hearing have enough stressors and self-judgment about their health condition. From the first call, Barbara said she would file my appeal with the judges at no extra charge, a value-add. This factor, and Barbara's willingness to listen to my complex neurological pain condition (so she can best represent me) allowed me to move forward with her as my attorney. Barbara was always responsive to my phone calls and emails. She gave me practical advice on walking through this process. She definitely knows disability law and has decades of experience. I would imagine judges and their staff appreciate her respectful demeanor in their interactions. When I addressed a concern about the hearing being moved from my county to San Francisco County (more challenging for me to get to physically), Barbara stepped up (twice) to get the location changed. I came to Mr Weber who after speaking to several rude attorneys answered his phone at 6pm he was out the door but took his time to talk to me about the bankruptcy I was looking for. He took his time and answered all my questions without trying to rush me off the phone. Pleased I called back the next day and made the first appointment. My husband and I hired him. His office and staff especially Kim returned all my calls and questions prompty. Mr Weber even called me back on a Saturday with a question I thought about! All I can say is his services were superb. I had my hearing today and my file was the only one done correctly and I didnt need to make a second court appearance. 12 other people ahead of me all had attorneys that did not have the files prepared. I came to Joseph Weber with a judgment against me that I couldn’t pay. I didn’t know what to do. I knew Joe specialized in bankruptcy but that was not what I preferred. Joe agreed with me and I hired him to negotiate and settle my case with the collectors. Although this was not listed as one of Joe’s “specialties” he ended up saving me over 40 thousand dollars! I was able to pay the judgment and go on with my life. Honestly, Joe was one of the most sincere people I have ever worked with. Felt like he really cared during the whole process. My highest recommendation goes to Mr. Weber.

I initially applied for Social Security Disability benefits and my claim was denied. I referred my case to David Allen to file an appeal and handle my case. They promptly prepared and filed the appeal, I was advised that should the matter require a formal hearing, the process could take upwards of 18 months. After only a few months, we were advised by the Social Security Administration, that upon review of the documents submitted with the appeal, they reconsidered and awarded me the benefits I was due, including retro active payment from the date of occurrence. I was impressed with both the short time it took to resolve the matter, as well as the little effort required on my part, past the initial interview/consultation. They were very professional throughout the process. For these reasons I would highly recommend them for people who could benefit from their services.
