Mr. Rouse and Brittany are unprofessional, and non-responsive . They started working on my granddaughters disability case in 2022; never returned calls when messages was left. We was always given some excuse when calling for updates, and had the same response every time we called. I did the work for them to get a sweet check. They didnt even know my granddaughters case was over until I called them. The 1 call we had with Mr. Rouse he told us he would send 'forms for the doctor to complete'. Brittany always had the receptionist to tell us, she would call back after she checked for the SSA updates. My granddaughters case finished by MY hardwork, and they received a sweet 25% for filling out paperwork with theirname on it. My granddaughter had surgeries from birth and they never understood that; it showed in their lack of concern. To this date, NO ONE has called to go over her case or any of the awards she received, BUT they deposited that money in 1 day. Unprofessional. insensitive (my baby is 3 yo). Never cared what my grandchild, her Mom or myself had to go through with medical procedures, and the costs to travel to Atlanta at least 8 or more times in a year. They just did not work in her favor and just did not care. #NEVERAGAIN

This law firm is the most unprofessional business I ever tried to do business with. I called them on Monday the 28th of August to inquire about helping my sister get started on a bankruptcy. Natalie, told me she would talk to the lawyer, Mark, and get back to me on Tuesday the 29th. After not hearing from her, I called back on the 30th. Left a recorded message. Then again called on the 31st, left another message. Then tried again on Tuesday Sept. 5th and talked to the person who answered the phone, and she said she would have Natalie call me. Didn't happen. Called back again on the 7th of Sept. and Natalie finally got on the phone with me. She said she would talk to Mark and call me back at 2:30. she actually had someone else call me back to tell me they are not taking any more chapter 7 bankruptcy. Natalie couldn't even get on the phone to tell me herself????. Thank you Metts Law firm for not responding for 10 days, wasting my time where I could have been trying to find a reputable lawyer to help me out. I gave one star rating because they didn't offer negative stars. Highly DON'T recommend this place.

No one wants to be in the situation where they need a lawyer, but if you do, Dave and Mary are exactly who you want by your side. Their knowledge, skill, professionalism, honesty, integrity and care, both in and out of the court room is of the highest caliber. I couldn't recommend them more highly. I was recommended to Ms. Flynn by my neighbors who were extremely pleased with her firm. From the time I walked in the door for the first time I was treated with nothing but professionalism and compassion for my case. As a Veteran of the Army with PTSD I get frustrated easily however Ms. Flynn always made me feel at ease, took their time explaining when I didn't understand something and encouraged me when the process seemed to take too long. Staying in touch with me step by step Ms. Flynn and her staff navigated the difficult water of the Georgia court system for me. And then one day I received the phone call I was waiting for. Ms. Flynn and her staff won my disability case however they did far more than that. She immediately changed the quality of my life for the better. My life has been a whirlwind of positive and exciting experiences and I can't thank Ms. Flynn enough. Not only would I utilize her services again for myself whenever I run across someone in need of an disability attorney I immediately and gladly give them the number and address of Ms. Flynn offices knowing they will be handled with respect, discretion and dignity.

Astute, tenacious, and strategic—these are just a few of the many qualities that immediately come to mind when describing Ms. Wilkerson as my lawyer. I cannot recommend her highly enough, nor can I fully express how satisfied I am with her representation. I hired Ms. Wilkerson to represent me in family court against an opposing counsel and party that was exceedingly aggressive and divisive, far beyond what I had anticipated. Through prayer and the grace of God, I was led to her, and she proved to be exactly what I needed during one of the most challenging times of my life. From the very beginning, Ms. Wilkerson demonstrated an exceptional level of competence and professionalism that far exceeded my expectations. She was sharp, thorough, and always well-prepared. Her meticulous research ensured that every necessary motion was filed, and every critical aspect of my case was addressed with precision, and might I add, properly cited with applicable laws and precedents. Her profound knowledge of the law was evident in her measured, strategic approach, allowing her to advocate assertively on my behalf while considering the bigger picture and life beyond the final hearing. Another one of Ms. Wilkerson’s most impressive qualities was her ability to use my time efficiently. Every meeting was focused and productive, leaving me informed, prepared, and confident for court. Her communication was exceptional—open, clear, and honest. She answered all my questions with patience and ensured I fully understood every step of the process. In court, her presentation was masterful—clear, articulate, and unwavering. She ensured my defense was bold yet appropriately measured, leaving no room for doubt. Beyond her legal expertise, Ms. Wilkerson provided invaluable coaching and guidance, helping me feel empowered and confident during a time when I felt anything but. Her balanced approach was particularly reassuring, as she always made decisions with both immediate outcomes and long-term consequences in mind. Ms. Wilkerson’s discernment and dedication to doing the work were unparalleled. Brilliantly skilled, assertive when needed, and unfailingly professional, Ms. Wilkerson turned what could have been an overwhelming experience into a manageable process. I am deeply grateful for her support and feel an immense sense of relief knowing she was by my side. If you’re looking for an outstanding divorce lawyer, look no further. I wholeheartedly recommend Ms. Wilkerson to anyone in need of exceptional representation.

The entire Legal Industrial Complex should be overhauled. I paid this firm $3690 on 9/2024. After attending a hearing for 15 mins and useless emails, calls, and texts, the balance is $107 without another court appearance. I requested a withdrawal from the case on Nov 22nd but they waited until Dec 2nd to inform me about signing a release form. From 11/22- 12/9 2024 they continued working the case(against my will) and running the bill up. I argued my own case in court and saved a ton of money. Paying an attorney an upfront fee only exposes the client to be taken advantage of as in this case. There are many positive experiences here but I had to make potential vulnerable divorce clients aware of my experience. They will run the bill up by calling, texting, and emailing the same document. I would send them a document to review before a phone conversation so they could be prepared but instead the attorney would not be familiar and run the bill up by asking useless questions that were covered in the document sent earlier. Stay away from attorneys if you can help it.

We called the office and requested an initial consultation. We were given time and date, when we called , nobody picked up. We left a message. Mrs. Atkinson called back and asked to call the next day. So we did, and we reached her cell phone voicemail. Left a message. She did not call back. It looks like she simply does not have time for potential clients. Look somewhere else, she might be too busy to take care of you.

I contacted Attorney Shelley Davidson, with Westmoreland Patterson Moseley & Hinson for help with a Social Security Benefits claim. Shelley’s demeanor was always calm and collected even when the case seemed impossible. My case was filed over ten (10) years ago and Shelley never gave up. She is a fighter. She knows the law and isn’t afraid to stand strong and steadfast. A great many attorneys would have given up a long time ago. Not Shelley! My case was tried in Federal Court. She won both times. Shelley finally helped me prevail with my claim in January 2020. She stood with me for over 10 years. I thank her for that. If you need a great attorney that will tell you the truth and stand up for you. There is none better than Shelley Davidson Esq.

Worst attorney in Dalton, Georgia! He was paid almost $9000 to get my cousin out of jail. He did not even know who he was, did no legwork to investigate! He was never looking into his case! Anything that was done, we had to do for him! Then when we get to court we had to point out who his client was! He never talked to DA to try to get client help instead of time.

Bridgett provided excellent legal assistance for my traffic ticket case. Her communication was outstanding, responding promptly via email, even during weekends and after hours when necessary. She successfully got my ticket dismissed without any points on my record or insurance increases, which was absolutely worth the investment. Her effectiveness in handling out-of-state cases was impressive, as I was traveling through GA from Colorado at the time of the incident. I highly recommend Bridgett for her professionalism and results-oriented approach. I would definitely use her services again if needed.

She has been my husband's attorney for years and we have had no results. She does not ever contact us unless we get very upset and rude and then she only contacts him to smooth it over. If you require an attorney for VA benefits do not use Mrs. Welch. It has been 4 or 5 years and she has done absolutely nothing. She does not respond to calls, text, messenger or emails. She does to give any updates unless we force the issue. Run in a different direction if you see her. Our opinion is that we should have never hired her. She will not give a letter of release if she is fired according to her website. So if you hire her you are stuck with her and her ineffective business practices.

I was recommended Shellana Welch by a fellow veteran. She was very pleasant for the first month. Once she solidified her position as my VA attorney, I never heard from her again. I've emailed and called her multiple times with no response. I had not heard from her in a year. Despite her lack of assistance, I reached 100% on my own. Unfortunately, she still gets a portion of my backpay because she refused to remove herself from my case. I feel awful because I trusted her to help me and in the end, she scammed me.

I had a very bad experience with Mr Edmonson, I found him to be very lazy, unprepared for my workerscomp case, exaggerates on value of case, unprofessional and a hot head. Here's what happen with my case, he didn't correct my end of employment date for social security knowing the date was incorrect (this resulted in delay of my SS benefit for over 5 months) he closed my case out on his end for social security for months(result- no-one knew what was going on with my case, i only learned when i called and asked for a update) I never Knew where my case standing, when i called he simple said I don't know. Now for workers comp case. He was so unprepared did not fight for me at all. He simply went with whatever the opposite attorney said, if he uses the phrase ( IF i did my math right) be ready to be greatly disappointed. It was a complete joke . let's address the hot head issues. When i questioned him why my case was closed without receiving SSB or notification of any kind from social security that it was closed he became outraged. what he did was quiet then decided that wasn't a good idea. I kept him only because i was close to two years with him other wise i would have fired him on the spot. I would also ask John if he has the resources to hire professional medical wittnisses for your worker's Comp case. You may find out he doesn't. I could keep going but it would take to much of my time. Conclusion: If your looking for a lazy, unprepared for your case, exaggerates, a hot head and never follows up on anything kinda of attorney this would be a good one to hire.

I never felt pressured; rather, understood. Made all the difference in signing up with John. John kept in touch and kept me abreast of what was unfolding and was very comprehensive in his explanations and aiding in my understanding. John not only knew the law and helped me reach a settlement, but he took the time to see, hear and understand me as the person who became a client and, from my view, a friend.

even though I was a small fish in a big pond I was still treated the same. You would think that with a small case you would get treated differently over the big cases but that was not true here. I was treated with great respect and courtesy from everybody at the office. It was wonderful working with attorney Edmondson he was very knowledgeable and walked me through every step that was being taken. I would highly recommend attorney Edmondson.

Mr. Bateski represented me back in 2008 before I knew of this website. It was a serious matter. My dad had a friend who recommended Mr. Bateski We had a few meetings discussing the case and law. My situation was explained to me. I was left to make my own choices. He stated that he had to be prepared to go to trial regardless of what happens during the hearings. He was competent in court. He represented me and protected my rights in court and phone calls with the judge and DA. Ultimately, my case was not prosecuted so we never started a trial and I cannot comment on his work in trial. This other reviewer talking about anxiety is not like what I remember. I would not call him the worst lawyer as that reviewer did. Since we didn't go to trial he refunded most of his retainer. His retainer was very reasonable in the first place. I think he charged much less than other lawyers would've charged.

I received a speeding citation 2 years ago in GA while driving from FL back home to NC. Without knowing all my rights I paid the fine because I was out of state. About 3 months later I was sent a second fine for the same ticket (super speeder fine). Again, I was out of state and unfortunately just paid the ticket. Then GA finally got around to notifying my home state about the citation almost two years after the fact and they sent me a notice that my drivers license was being revoked for 6 mths. Mr. Bateski advised me very well and worked with the court in GA on my behalf. Ultimately, Mr. Bateski got the original citation vacated in GA, which saved my license in NC. I am so grateful for his dedication, speed with handling my case and responsiveness. I hope to never need an attorney again, but if I do he will be the one!

MR. BATESKI IS THE WORST LAWYER TO GET. ALTHOUGH HE IS CHEAP, HE HAS ANXIETY ISSUES AND GETS VERY NERVOUS WHEN IN COURT. I HAD A SIMPLE CITY ORDINANCE AND BEFORE I COULD EVEN SAY ANYTHING HE HAD ALREADY AGREED TO TAKE A PLEA THAT WOULD HAVE RUINED MY CAREER. HE THEN WENT ON TO GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY BEFORE I HAD TO GET STERN AND ALMOST MOTIVATE HIM TO DO HIS JOB! I EVEN HAD TO TELL HIM TO SAY WHEN TALKING WITH THE JUDGE...PATHETIC!

I hired Kevin for a disabaility case that was awaiting a hearing. After, I hired him the hearing was scheduled within 3 months time. Kevin did no major hourly work on my case because it had already been done prior to him being hired, and the work that needed to be done Kevin failed to do, like get important medical documents prior to the hearing and failed to inform me.Kevin asked the judge if he could have an extension/ continuance in order to obtain the documents. To top it off Kevin asked me to secure the documents a job he was hired to do and failed at. He also presented a questionable work expense to the judge in support of his request for payment from me. and What kind of attorney seeks payment for work he NEVER PERFORMED? I DO NOT RECOMMEND KEVIN D. WHEELER , especially if you are looking for a honest, hardworking, truthful, attorney.

I hired Jeannie Tupper upon exit from the military. I had a 100% disability rating from the VA medicines and what I felt was a solid case. First I never met the woman. She sent someone to my hearing who waited until 5 minutes before the hearing to explain that she would not be speaking but I would have to do all the talking. They did not properly request paperwork. I provided them with all needed paperwork. She fumbled up a good case. They would not file an appeal and I could not see Tupper to get any real answers. Time passed to the point now where I would have to start all over again. It's not fair but as a lawyer there was nothing she did except try to be in place to capitalize on what they may have thought to be an easy win. As a law office I would strongly ward off any suitable cases looking for help at that office.

Attorney Tupper represented me at a hearing in a SSA Disability case. Very Sharp, knowledgeable and professional. I haven't heard anything back from SSA as of yet but she certainly did her part in representing me effectively.

Incompetent, unprofessional, and clearly more interested in responding to one-star reviews than in communicating with their clients. I reached out to Attorney Tipton-Downie at the beginning of June for assistance with my disability case (which was already sitting at over 600+ days due to mishandling by the SSA) and appeal. This attorney had come to me highly recommended by a member of my family who had done business with her before. Over a month after submitting my case to the practice for review, I still had received no word whatsoever. My family and I tried numerous times to contact Attorney Tipton-Downie, but were always met with some excuse (she's on lunch, out of the office, on vacation, out with COVID) and told that they weren't even sure if she had reviewed my case yet. After nearly three months with no contact from this attorney, I finally reached out to another law practice who was EXTREMELY courteous and professional; not only did they contact me immediately when I reached out for assistance, they were able to personally review my case with me and readily accepted. About two weeks after getting the assistance of a professional practice, I actually received a letter from Attorney Tipton-Downie in the mail stating that, "We were unable to open the disc with your records from social security. Please obtain another copy if you'd like us to review your case." After nearly THREE MONTHS of no contact, I receive a 4-sentence letter telling me something that should have been communicated LONG before and would have only taken a simple phone call from someone at the practice. Because they were incapable of accessing a simple disc, I was met with silence; the disc was later tested and found to work perfectly fine. I genuinely can not comprehend the sheer level of incompetence and lack of compassion demonstrated by Attorney Tipton-Downie. Thank you for letting me down when I was at my most vulnerable and needed a helping hand. Not only have you lost my respect, but also the business of one of your own clients who formerly sang your praises. I do hope you reflect on your attitude towards your clients; we are all disappointed in you. I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors because it is apparent that you will need it.

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value Today is July 8, 2020, this law firm was recommend to me by word of mouth. I had back surgery on June 3, 2020 and was not able to drive from Savannah, Ga to Vidalia, Ga unless I had a driver. I contact the office and spoke with Pamela concerning obtaining help with applying for disability. After a phone conversation and emailing the start up documents needed in order for the law office to assist myself with my claim. Less than a week after my surgery, I was able to get a ride from Savannah to Vidalia, Ga to drop off all needed paperwork so hopefully obtaining help with my case. Each week I called to check and see rather they needed anything else from myself to get my case rolling. Still nothing... no calls no emails no nothing Next day still nothing. Today I called to find out Pamela no longer works with this law firm. Each week I called and ask for Pamela and all I got was someone will return your call the next day. Today I went to the office to pick up all my paperwork and my disc of my records so I can seek help from another law firm. Today, I had to sit over 2 hours waiting on my paperwork only to be told the lawyer was on video calling. Professionally was horrible, no response concerning my case nor any type of communication what so ever in a month's time frame. This law firm was a Big Waste of my time for myself in the month time frame they had all my paperwork needed to start my case.

Ms. Benedict was the most unprofessional lawyer that I have ever had any dealings with. I had to initiate contact. She constantly ignored contact. She has very poor relationships with most judges that she has come in contact with. She cancelled hearing after hearing causing my case to drag on years longer than it should have only to quit and place such a high lien against my claim it was hard to find another attorney. I would not recommend her to represent a gnat.

What a Social Security & Disability Lawyer Can Do for You

A Social Security and Disability lawyer specializes in helping individuals navigate the complex process of applying for and securing Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. These lawyers assist clients in filing applications, gathering necessary medical evidence, appealing denied claims, and representing them in hearings before administrative law judges. A lawyer can help maximize the chances of approval by ensuring that the paperwork is accurate, deadlines are met, and legal standards are addressed.

If you are disabled and unable to work, or if your Social Security Disability claim has been denied, a Social Security and Disability lawyer can guide you through the legal process to obtain the benefits you’re entitled to.

When Should I Hire a Social Security & Disability Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a Social Security and Disability lawyer in the following situations:

  • Applying for SSDI or SSI benefits: The application process for disability benefits can be complex, with strict requirements and documentation. A lawyer can assist in completing the application correctly and submitting the required medical evidence to improve your chances of approval.
  • Denied disability claim: If your initial claim for SSDI or SSI benefits has been denied, a lawyer can help file an appeal and represent you in hearings. Many claims are denied initially, and having legal representation during the appeal process significantly increases the chances of success.
  • Requesting reconsideration: After an initial denial, you have the right to request reconsideration of your claim. A lawyer can help present new medical evidence or correct any errors in your original application.
  • Hearing before an administrative law judge (ALJ): If your reconsideration request is denied, you may request a hearing before an ALJ. A lawyer can represent you during the hearing, preparing you to answer questions and presenting a strong case based on your medical and work history.
  • Proving medical conditions: If your disability involves complex medical conditions, a lawyer can help gather expert medical testimony or additional evidence to demonstrate that your condition meets the legal criteria for disability.
  • Overpayments and cessation of benefits: If the Social Security Administration (SSA) claims you were overpaid or attempts to terminate your benefits, a lawyer can assist in challenging the decision and protect your right to continue receiving benefits.
  • SSI for low-income individuals: If you are applying for SSI, which is based on financial need in addition to disability, a lawyer can help ensure that your financial records are correctly submitted to meet SSA’s strict income and asset limits.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can help you avoid mistakes that could delay or jeopardize your claim.

What Does a Social Security & Disability Lawyer Do?

A Social Security and Disability lawyer provides a range of services to help individuals navigate the application and appeals process for SSDI or SSI benefits. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Filing initial applications: A lawyer can help prepare and file your SSDI or SSI application, ensuring that all necessary forms are completed accurately and medical evidence is included.
  • Gathering medical evidence: A lawyer works with your doctors and healthcare providers to collect medical records, treatment histories, and expert opinions to support your disability claim.
  • Filing appeals: If your initial application is denied, a lawyer can file an appeal and guide you through the reconsideration process, ensuring that any additional documentation or evidence is provided.
  • Representing you in hearings: A lawyer will represent you in front of an administrative law judge, helping you prepare for the hearing and arguing your case to demonstrate that your disability prevents you from working.
  • Handling deadlines and paperwork: A lawyer will ensure that all deadlines are met, and that any requests for additional information from the SSA are responded to promptly.
  • Negotiating settlements (for private disability insurance claims): If your disability benefits claim involves private disability insurance (in addition to or instead of SSDI/SSI), a lawyer can help negotiate a fair settlement with the insurance company.
  • Fighting benefit terminations or overpayment claims: If the SSA attempts to terminate your benefits or claims you were overpaid, a lawyer can defend you in administrative proceedings or file for a waiver or reconsideration.

How Are Social Security & Disability Lawyers Paid?

Social Security and Disability lawyers are typically paid on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if your case is successful, either through the approval of your disability benefits or winning an appeal. Here's how it generally works:

  • Contingency fee: The fee is usually 25% of your past-due (backpay) benefits, but no more than $7,200. This fee structure is set by the SSA, and lawyers cannot charge more than this amount for SSDI or SSI cases.
  • No cost for future benefits: Lawyers are not entitled to any portion of your future monthly disability benefits. Their fee is strictly limited to a percentage of your backpay.
  • Additional costs: In some cases, you may need to pay for additional expenses, such as obtaining medical records or expert witness testimony. These costs are usually minimal, but it’s essential to ask your lawyer about any additional expenses upfront.

It’s essential to confirm fee arrangements with your lawyer during the initial consultation to avoid misunderstandings.

How Much Does a Social Security & Disability Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a Social Security and Disability lawyer is typically structured around the contingency fee system outlined by the SSA. General cost information includes:

  • Contingency fee: The lawyer’s fee is capped at 25% of your backpay, with a maximum of $7,200. For example, if you are awarded $10,000 in backpay, the lawyer will receive $2,500 (25%), and you will receive the remaining $7,500.

Overall, there is no financial risk in hiring a Social Security and Disability lawyer, as they only get paid if your case is successful.

Top Questions to Ask a Social Security & Disability Lawyer

Before hiring a Social Security and Disability lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they have the experience and expertise to handle your case effectively. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with Social Security Disability cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling SSDI and SSI cases similar to yours, particularly if you have a complex medical condition.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Confirm that the lawyer charges a contingency fee and that you won’t owe any fees unless your claim is successful. Ask if there are any additional costs for medical records or other expenses.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of your case and the potential challenges you may face.
  4. How long will the process take?
Disability claims can take time, especially if you’re appealing a denial. Ask the lawyer how long they expect the process to last and what the typical timeline is for cases like yours.
  5. How will you help me prepare for my hearing?
If your case is going to a hearing before an administrative law judge, ask the lawyer how they will help you prepare for testimony and present your medical evidence effectively.
  6. What happens if I’m denied again?
Ask about the next steps if your reconsideration or appeal is denied, including the possibility of further appeals to federal court.

How to Check the Credibility of a Social Security & Disability Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable Social Security and Disability lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice law and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for Social Security experience: Review the lawyer’s website or profile to ensure they specialize in Social Security and Disability law and have successfully handled cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on Social Security Disability matters.
  • Check for memberships in relevant organizations: Membership in organizations like the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR) can indicate that the lawyer is committed to representing disability claimants.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a Social Security and Disability lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Medical records: Bring copies of your medical records, including doctor’s notes, test results, treatment histories, and any disability-related diagnoses.
  • List of medications and treatments: Provide a detailed list of any medications you are taking, treatments you have received, and ongoing medical care related to your disability.
  • Denial letters (if applicable): If your disability claim has been denied, bring a copy of the denial letter from the SSA, along with any documentation related to your appeal.
  • Work history: Provide information about your previous jobs and work history, including details about how your disability has impacted your ability to work.
  • Social Security application (if already filed): If you’ve already submitted an application, bring a copy of the application and any correspondence you’ve had with the SSA.
  • List of questions: Prepare a list of questions you have about the legal process, the lawyer’s fees, and what to expect in terms of timelines and outcomes.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your case more effectively and provide the best possible legal advice tailored to your situation.
