She is honest from the very start no matter what the situation is. She gives it to you straight whether its in your favor or not. I literally consider her family now as she was there for us when we had no one else to turn too. We lo e you Mrs. Winchell.

Mary and her assistant were friendly and Mary said she would help me as she had helped another client in the same situation, (the one that referred me to her)I called frequently inquiring about my costs and to see if they needed anything else from me other than what I provided. With a looming court date I started calling almost every day. The Friday before my Tuesday court date Mary said she had not even looked at my case and would review it over the weekend to let me know my fees to pay on Monday. Her and I had spoken at length about me entire situation, as she was the one that had told me the plan of action. But that Friday she worried me. That Monday no one answered the phone in her office and my Tuesday court date came and went without council. It had a grievous effect to not have representation. I had others depending on the outcome and it would have been in my favor had she been there. I would not trust this law firm, or Mary to have your back. She lies and she does not care.

Best lawyer ever!!!! I've used Mr. Sotile for a personal injury case and won. He kept me up to date on everything going on, answered ALL questions and concerns that I had, explained legal terms where I could understand. Mr. Sotile fights for what you're entitled to. I'd HIGHLY recommend using Mr. Sotile as your lawyer.

If I could give negative stars I would. They were hired as a third party to conduct oath hearings for a break in where my kids could have been home. After 3 months of no communication and messing me around the lawyer is doing shady things as talking to personnel without being under oath to twist the story to say I was home doing burglary. I have submitted phone record and also they can pull tower pings to show that I was never there but instead the lawyer is prolonging the investigation when they have police report and all evidence. The incident was during Xmas time so I was not able to give my kids the Xmas they deserved due to several things were taking out the house. They show no sympathy and compassion as they treat veterans like they do not have a family of their own. I wish they could stop playing games to try and undermine and save the company they work for money by short cutting the customers. The matter in which they do business is unacceptable as us regular people have families just like them.

Abigail assisted me with a developing situation with a former employer. When I called she was immediately helpful, listened carefully to the situation, and laid out options for next steps. She then helped to communicate with the parties involved, while still allowing me to retain control over the process. I was most impressed that her communication not only resolved the situation, but resolved it quickly with minimal effort on my behalf. Extremely grateful!

Having known Chase Villeret personally & professionally for several years, I can vouch for his incredible work at Villeret Law Firm. His level of professionalism, efficiency, and integrity truly set the bar high in the legal field. When you meet him, you'll quickly realize that Chase is not your stereotypical attorney. He's exceptionally down to earth and incredibly easy to communicate with. Unlike many in his field, he makes law accessible and understandable. He has a knack for simplifying complex legal issues and is always patient when answering the countless questions I ask lol. He takes the time to ensure you fully comprehend each step of your case. It's not just his approachability that sets him apart, though... it's his effectiveness as well! Chase gets results - he's committed to ensuring his clients' needs are not only met but exceeded. He navigates the legal system with ease and always fights for the best outcome. Chase's expert guidance, clear communication, and relentless dedication make him a standout attorney. But more than that, his warm personality and genuine care for his clients truly set him apart. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Chase Villeret is, without a doubt, a five-star attorney!

My wife was involved in an auto accident late last year. After a long period of inactivity by the insurance company, we hired Chase to assist us with the claim. Chase handled every aspect of settling the claim in a professional and timely manner. He is extremely knowledgeable and all of the legal advice he provided was spot on. He was very compassionate and always responsive when we had a question or concern. He answers his phone and promptly responds to emails/texts. He took control of the entire process from start to finish and put our minds at ease. He was able to get results from the insurance company that we were not able to achieve on our own. I highly recommend contacting Chase for any legal matter that you need assistance with.

I was scared and nervous about what my future would be. When I contacted Worker’s Compensation LLC they were very easy to talk to and very knowledgeable of the steps I needed to take. Tim was always so helpful every time I called with a question or concern. Don’t wait to call (like I did) call right away so your rights are protected and you are taken care of. While I was on workers comp Ms Monica was able to help me file and get approved for disability. Every person I spoke to over the years (about 3 years) were always very kind & helpful. I would recommend Worker’s Compensation LLC to any one on workers comp. Or needing to file for disability. Thank you Tim & Monica for all your help!!

In early January, I engaged this attorney based on a referral from the Louisiana Bar Association’s website and paid a retainer for representation at a hearing for a domestic violence restraining order that I had filed myself. I had to prepare the entire briefing with minimal assistance from him, and he took days to respond to messages and was unresponsive by phone. On the court date, he failed to appear and blamed me for not adequately reminding him, despite having sent him the paperwork with the dates clearly indicated. Due to his absence, the judge ruled against me by default, resulting in a $500 payment for the abuser’s attorney fees. I attempted multiple times to obtain a refund, but I was either ignored or given excuses. He repeatedly requested a chance to “make this right,” so I allowed him to file a petition for damages. Four months later, I received paperwork filled with errors regarding the parish, the court, and other crucial details, which I had to correct myself. Important elements, such as how the other party would be served, were omitted. I filed the corrected paperwork on April 16, and the courthouse mailed him the official copies on April 17. However, as of June 26, no action has been taken. Despite numerous attempts to contact him, he provided excuses and finally claimed he never received the paperwork. After confirming with the courthouse that the paperwork had been sent and that no additional copies were requested, I confronted him. His response was that he never received the paperwork and had to request another copy, which was false according to the clerk of court. My requests for a refund have been ignored. Despite performing most of the legal work myself, he failed to complete the simple task of mailing a document, instead providing excuses and inappropriate details about a personal medical issue. It has been seven months, and I have incurred an additional $500 bill. My safety remains at risk, and I am now more vulnerable than before due to my attempts to seek legal protection. Unfortunately, pursuing further action would require hiring another attorney to recover my money. To save yourself time and trouble, I strongly advise finding another attorney. Based on my experience, this attorney lacks ethics and is likely to mishandle your case and finances.

This attorney is the worse I have ever had in my life and I have hired at least 100 attorney via my business and personally from Florida to California. I had a workers' compensation case with him. He is rude, obnoxious, and violent. This attorney tried to make me sign a blink document against my will and held my file hostage if I would not sign the blink form (and he was legally representing me). He even stood in front of his office door and wanted to call the police on me just because I wanted a copy of my file. After he was dismissed, he still would not give me a copy of my file. My wife, myself, him, and another lady attorney (that works with him) was in the conference room when all of this happen. I was lucky to get out of his office without getting beat up or put in jail. I have herniated disks in my back and neck (Due to the work related injury). The only thing that saved me from getting beat up or put in jail is the fact that after I left his office I texted him and let him know that the whole ordeal was audiotaped by my wife. Needless to say, when Mr. Murry and another attorney heard this recording, Mr. Murry released my complete file that day. Should Mr. Murry say this is not true, I still have the tape and will go to the State Bar Association with the tape in hand. Everyone has a bad day sometimes, but this happened five months ago and Mr. Murry has yet to be a gentleman enough to apologize to my wife and I for his behavior. I will retract this if Mr. Murry will at least apologize to my wife. I promised him that I would not go to the Louisiana State Bar with my tape if he would give me my file. He did give me my file that day (after hearing the tape) and I did not go to the State Bar; However, I will grade him on every site possible until he apologize at least to my wife.

Worker's compensation stop sending me my check. I used my credit card for some things I needed, thinking my check would come in. When I contacted the attorney about it, he said he about worker's compensation stopping the check weeks before it, and said he guess he could have told me, but he was too busy, with other cases. Then he told me we did a lot of work on your case, and it's worth noting, we won't get paid for it. Does not keep me updated on my case. I definitely would not recommend this attorney.

What a Workers’ Compensation Lawyer Can Do for You

A workers’ compensation lawyer specializes in helping employees who are injured or become ill as a result of their job to receive the benefits they are entitled to under workers' compensation laws. These lawyers represent injured workers in claims for medical benefits, wage replacement, and other compensation related to workplace injuries or illnesses. They also help when claims are denied, benefits are delayed, or disputes arise with the employer or the insurance company.

Whether you've been injured on the job, developed an occupational illness, or are dealing with a denied workers' compensation claim, a workers’ compensation lawyer can help you navigate the claims process and ensure you receive the full benefits you deserve.

When Should I Hire a Workers' Compensation Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a workers' compensation lawyer in several situations, especially when complications arise during the claims process or when your rights as an injured worker are being challenged. Some common reasons to hire a workers' compensation lawyer include:

  • Claim denial: If your workers' compensation claim has been denied, a lawyer can help you appeal the decision and represent you in hearings or litigation.
  • Inadequate benefits: If the insurance company offers you a settlement that doesn’t cover your medical expenses, lost wages, or other damages, a lawyer can negotiate on your behalf for a fair amount.
  • Delay in receiving benefits: If your benefits are being delayed, a lawyer can help expedite the process to ensure you receive timely compensation.
  • Permanent disability: If your injury leads to permanent disability (partial or total), a lawyer can help you navigate the more complex process of securing long-term benefits.
  • Retaliation by employer: If your employer retaliates against you for filing a workers' compensation claim (e.g., by firing or demoting you), a lawyer can protect your rights and pursue legal action.
  • Third-party liability: If a third party (e.g., a contractor or equipment manufacturer) was responsible for your injury, a lawyer can help you pursue additional compensation through a personal injury lawsuit.
  • Pre-existing conditions: If your employer or the insurance company claims that your injury is related to a pre-existing condition, a lawyer can help you present evidence showing that the injury was work-related.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can prevent delays, avoid mistakes, and ensure you receive all the benefits you’re entitled to under workers' compensation law.

What Does a Workers' Compensation Lawyer Do?

A workers' compensation lawyer provides a range of legal services to injured workers, ensuring that they receive the benefits they deserve. Their tasks often include:

  • Filing claims: Helping injured workers prepare and file their workers' compensation claims to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Appealing denied claims: Representing workers whose claims have been denied and guiding them through the appeals process, including hearings and court appearances.
  • Negotiating settlements: Negotiating with insurance companies to secure fair compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.
  • Handling disputes: Resolving disputes between the injured worker, the employer, and the insurance company regarding the amount of compensation or the nature of the injury.
  • Coordinating medical evidence: Gathering and presenting medical records, expert testimony, and other evidence to support the workers' compensation claim.
  • Advocating for benefits: Ensuring that injured workers receive all the benefits they’re entitled to, including temporary or permanent disability benefits, vocational rehabilitation, and medical treatment.
  • Filing third-party lawsuits: In cases where a third party is responsible for the injury, a workers' compensation lawyer may also pursue a personal injury lawsuit to recover additional damages.

How Are Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Paid?

Workers' compensation lawyers typically charge a contingency fee, meaning they only get paid if they successfully recover benefits for you. This fee is usually a percentage of the benefits awarded, and the specific percentage is often regulated by state law. Here's how it generally works:

  • Contingency fee: The lawyer's fee is typically between 15% and 25% of the total benefits awarded to you. You don’t have to pay any upfront legal fees, and the lawyer’s fee comes out of the settlement or benefit award.
  • No fee if no recovery: If the lawyer doesn’t recover any benefits for you, you generally don’t have to pay for their services.
  • State regulations on fees: Many states cap the percentage that workers' compensation lawyers can charge, and some states require the fee to be approved by the workers' compensation board or judge.

Be sure to discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how much you will owe if your case is successful.

How Much Does a Workers' Compensation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a workers' compensation lawyer typically depends on the contingency fee arrangement, meaning the lawyer’s fee will be a percentage of the benefits you receive. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fees: Most workers' compensation lawyers charge between 15% and 25% of the total settlement or benefits awarded. For example, if you receive $50,000 in benefits, the lawyer’s fee would range from $7,500 to $12,500.
  • State regulations: Some states limit the percentage that workers' compensation lawyers can charge. In these cases, the fee is usually capped, often at 20% to 25%, depending on state law.
  • Additional costs: Some lawyers may charge for out-of-pocket expenses, such as filing fees, medical records retrieval, and expert witness testimony, though these costs are typically deducted from the settlement after the case is won.

You should always ask for a clear explanation of fees and potential additional costs during your consultation so you understand the financial arrangement.

Top Questions to Ask a Workers' Compensation Lawyer

Before hiring a workers' compensation lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the best fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with workers' compensation cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, especially if your injury is severe or the case involves disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a contingency fee and whether there are any additional costs you need to be aware of.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case, including the potential challenges and outcomes.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Find out if the lawyer has experience dealing with cases involving similar injuries or disputes, such as denied claims or permanent disability.
  5. How long will the process take?
While it’s difficult to predict an exact timeline, the lawyer should be able to provide a general estimate based on their experience with similar cases.
  6. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case. Make sure you know who will be working on your claim.

How to Check the Credibility of a Workers' Compensation Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable workers' compensation lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing, with no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for workers' compensation experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in workers' compensation law and have successfully handled cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s expertise and service.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their experience in workers' compensation cases.
  • Check for professional affiliations: Membership in organizations like the Workers' Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG) or local bar association committees on workers' compensation can indicate the lawyer’s commitment to this area of law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a workers' compensation lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Accident report or incident documentation: Bring any documentation related to your workplace injury or illness, including accident reports or notifications to your employer.
  • Medical records: Provide copies of medical records, including treatment notes, doctor’s reports, and any information related to your injury or condition.
  • Employer correspondence: Bring any letters, emails, or forms related to your claim from your employer or the workers' compensation insurance company.
  • Wage and benefits information: Provide information on your wages, benefits, and any lost income due to the injury.
  • List of questions: Prepare questions about your case, the process, costs, and what to expect moving forward.
  • Timeline of events: Prepare a timeline of the incident, your injury, and any medical treatment or communication with your employer and the insurance company.

Being well-prepared for your consultation will allow the lawyer to assess your case more effectively and provide you with the best possible legal advice.
