Mr. Acker did an excellent job representing my daughter in a drug traffic case. She had a history of prior felony charges and could have ended up serving 10 plus years. Thanks to Mr. Acker, she is serving 37 months for this felony charge. Mr. Acker saw that she had gotten mixed up with the wrong people and saw the potential for her future. I believe he looked at her as a person and not just the charges; therefore represented her as a person in court. I would highly recommend him.

Wes & Anne are truly a blessing! 5 stars isn’t enough to describe this team! After having had switch lawyers due to my ex attorney sitting on my case for nearly 7 months doing absolutely nothing,I was at a standstill with a bad taste left over. Had a close friend recommend Wes,reached out to him that night & received a phone call at 8am that morning. When I say this guy is on it,I mean he is literally ON IT! After our first conversation,I instantly knew that Wes was an honest man…very, very hard to find in this industry! From the minute Wes & Anne took over,I felt WAY more relaxed & confident that they had my stuff all under control. With my ex attorney,I was constantly on edge, stressed, nervous…you name it. After having switched,my family quickly caught drift on my stress levels going down,as well as me being able to rest more due to worrying less all thanks to Wes & Anne working efficiently & effectively! These two are the most humble, hard working people I’ve had the pleasure of crossing paths with! Communication was NEVER an issue, the updates were constant, even when they were on their personal time! Wes talks to you like a friend, making it easy to tell him anything & everything without any judgment! This duo has your back & will fight for you WITHOUT A DOUBT!

Landlords seem to be granted the upper hand in renting transactions. I called 6 lawyers who all told me NO before I found Grant. I appreciated him taking my case against an unscrupulous landlord who denied me information about the return of my security deposit and thence payment of said deposit. He and Delisa communicated actions needed and proceeded upon my responses. Grant's communications with my ex-landlord resulted in the return of my deposit without having to drag it all out in small claims court. Without hesitation, I will call on Grant for any other legal assistance in his realm of expertise!

I have used this firm for two separate cases and they did a great job on both. I work in construction. I had a bad shoulder injury because of a pneumatic lift that had a hydraulic blowout. I was scared I'd get stuck with a bunch of bills and wouldn't be able to work again. Mr. Grossman helped me get the medical my employer didn't want to pay for. Plus he got me a good settlement for my pain and suffering. The second case my wife was rear ended by a dump truck with busted brakes. The wreck total our Suburban so you can see how hard a hit it was. My wife got hurt bad. I called Mr. Grossman and he actually drove out to the scene and did a interview with the truck driver. The driver admitted he caused the wreck. Mr. Grossman got it on tape. I'm so happy he did cuz the truck driver later tried to say that the wreck was my wifes fault. Mr. Grossman got my wife a considerable amount of money. I would recommend Mike Grossman to anyone who needs a good lawyer.

We used this group when my family was hit by a semi while sitting at a stop light. They came up as a leading law group in tractor trailer accidents, so instead of using a local, smaller law firm, we chose them. Long story short, they are hard to communicate with, the suit took over a year before we were able to release them from all duties and pursue the settlement ourselves. I wouldn't recommend this either, but we didn't have much choice at the end of this. There was ALOT of miscommunication on how to move forward, how to handle medical expense etc, and one question could take 2-3 weeks to get an answer. The defendant company had accepted responsibility so it shouldn't have been so difficult. Ultimately, both accident victims received less than $8,000 which INCLUDED the funds to pay thousands of dollars in ER and ambulance bills, specialist bills etc. The incompetence of a doctor's office did play a factor in some of this, as they had sent a report that "accidentally" stated that one of the victims had surgery on a body part that was now afflicted from the accident - when they'd never had a surgery on anything before. It was just a long, drawn out mess that never got better. The attorney in our small town told us exactly what they would have done and have done in the past, with a case like ours - and it was completely different from what Grossman's office did - and they wouldn't have settled for the small amount we ended up settling for. For an open and shut, clear case where a semi driver slammed into a car sitting at a stop, this should have been a little simpler. I realize we didn't go to law school and most of the law lingo is Greek to us - but please don't talk to your clients like they should understand every word you say, then remind them that you "did tell them earlier" something legal that only a legal mind would even remember. This was a huge part of our frustration with them - I felt like I needed a legal thesaurus to understand everything they told us all the time. We mostly dealt with Keith Purdue and "Cory." Purdue told us at one point that something important hadn't been done because one of the women in his office failed to take care of it, and she was let go. Whether this was true or not, it had an impact on how things moved forward so we were very disappointed.

Horrible representation. Was told I am a junkie for asking for help with pain , a faker and liar. By my own " lawyer ". I was in excruciating pain and asked for medical help dozens of times. When I have over 7 Drs that have diagnosed me. In the beginning they helped pay my bills for a few months . Then he cuts me off with 5 days to pay my rent when I have no job from the accident and a disability! Mr Patel tells me he thinks I'm faking a 15 year disability. Because of my age ! Talk about discrimination. Got in a accident that Wasn't my fault. Waited over 11 months for life threatening injuries to get addressed. Was not represented on MY best interests. Only cares about making money . The whole case was done backwards. The most important medical treatment was done at the end. Lack of help and support I have had medical complications. And almost died when I had a stroke at work ! Sad world when even money doesn't motivate people to help anyone do the right thing anymore . They had excuses for their laziness and lack of support. Blaming me for not answering my phone. If only there was a way that could leave me a message ... Either voicemail or a text .......we had Important paperwork that had to be filled. But, They called me on the Last day to complete the important paperwork. And wonder why I'm angry that I'm on the phone for just under 2 Hours a few hours before the day ends .... Important paperwork should be done ASAP . And not put on me when Im at the Drs 3 times + or more a week and they can't leave a message.

Don’t bother calling this law firm. I spoke with Robin and Gloria, the front desk receptionists, and they were extremely rude, dismissive and unprofessional. If the owners of this law firm can’t lead and make sure their receptionists are providing even the minimum standard of customer service to their “clients” what does that tell you about the lawyers themselves? This speaks volumes about how a law firm will handle your case. I strongly recommend staying away from the Krist Law Firm.

They will twist the story around and let you do a very very long maximum sentence in prison over a very very very serious accusation that was so dam false to begin with. Even a dummy could read the fine print and have common sense. Beware! Just keep it moving and hire yourself a real good professional. But…“Instead they should be called the criminals and of the state for allowing such behavior of a dirty trial from the officers, detectives, to the jury and then to the judge….not to mention the cross examiners and cross examination they did was very questionable how can you allow such verdict without sufficient evidence let alone a minor was interviewed without permission of a parent. They will violate your constitutional rights from left to right but they will fight to keep themselves standing innocent at the cost of what?? An innocent man’s life. I’m sure this isn’t the first time they do something this dirty but I do believe more proper investigation shall be given in any case given that will jeopardize someone’s impeccable life…to be exact this all happened in the city of Montgomery County Texas to be Exact….

These scam artists have been leading my sick cancer ridden dying elder mother since 2017. She is near death its like there waiting for her to die so they can keep the money or something. The settlement was for 11 BILLION DOLLARS. After being told we would get 49000 for our settlement it was whittled down to less then 2800. Still haven't gotten it. Was told by some assistant the check would come within 14 days, suprise it hasnt come yet. Now im reading people signed for there checks in april and still havent gotten there money. My sick mother was lied to countless times about when the money was coming. All this was a scam to make the lawyers rich and screw over everyone else. If it was the lawyers mother she would of gotten the money by now for sure. It would of been better to not of been waiting for money that never comes. All I have to say is this trammell scum is lucky his office isn't near me. But he doesn't care he could care less about his clients. Here I am waiting for a check in the mail and I keep checking the mail like the checks gonna come. I feel like such an idiot and my mom is the real victim here.

My daughter passed away at birth 1998 and we hired Ryan as our lawyer. We were told by Ryan we needed to file a paper to show we were serious. Less than a month later he called with news hospital was ready to settle. He also informed us that his fee was 40% plus expenses, I told him it was 33% unless we went to court' He informed me because we filed that the paper he claimed was needed it was 40%. I told him I did not care if we ever settled that he misled us Just then phone started beeping because it was running out of batteries.Ryan was concerned I was taping him.I told him what do have to worry about. Then I told him the reason for beeping and hung up. Needles to say he had us over a barrel. So out of the goodness of his black heart he settled for 36% with hospital and 40% for doctor plus expenses. He ended up with more money then we received from doctor after expenses about 60/40. Expenses very questionable restaurants experts/ friends! I did try to file in 2000 with State bar in Austin but gave up it is difficult. Since then my son passed away also. I started thinking people do not need the person who is supposed to help take advantage of your lack of knowledge during the worst time of your life. In his defense this happened 19 years ago maybe he changed. Please beware!

What a Wrongful Death Lawyer Can Do for You

A wrongful death lawyer specializes in representing families who have lost a loved one due to the negligent, reckless, or intentional actions of another person or entity. These lawyers help families seek compensation for the emotional and financial losses associated with the untimely death of a loved one, including medical bills, funeral expenses, lost income, loss of companionship, and pain and suffering. Wrongful death claims can arise from various situations, including car accidents, medical malpractice, workplace accidents, and criminal actions.

If you have lost a family member due to someone else’s wrongful actions, a wrongful death lawyer can help you navigate the legal process and pursue justice on behalf of your loved one.

When Should I Hire a Wrongful Death Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a wrongful death lawyer if a loved one has died as a result of someone else’s negligence, recklessness, or intentional harm. Some common reasons to hire a wrongful death lawyer include:

  • Car accidents: If a loved one was killed in a car, truck, or motorcycle accident caused by another driver’s negligence (e.g., reckless driving, DUI, or distracted driving), a lawyer can help you file a wrongful death claim.
  • Medical malpractice: If a loved one died due to medical negligence, such as a misdiagnosis, surgical error, or medication mistake, a wrongful death lawyer can help you pursue compensation from the healthcare provider.
  • Workplace accidents: If your loved one died in a workplace accident or due to unsafe working conditions, you may be entitled to compensation from the employer or third parties responsible for the unsafe conditions.
  • Defective products: If a defective product caused your loved one’s death, a lawyer can help you file a wrongful death claim against the manufacturer or distributor of the product.
  • Criminal actions: If your loved one was the victim of a criminal act, such as homicide or assault, a wrongful death lawyer can help you pursue a civil claim for damages, even if a criminal case is also ongoing.
  • Nursing home negligence: If an elderly loved one died due to neglect or abuse in a nursing home, a lawyer can help you hold the facility accountable for their wrongful actions.

Hiring a wrongful death lawyer soon after the incident ensures that important evidence is preserved and that you can meet any legal deadlines for filing a claim.

What Does a Wrongful Death Lawyer Do?

A wrongful death lawyer provides a wide range of services to help families navigate the legal complexities of a wrongful death claim and seek compensation for their losses. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Investigating the death: Conducting a thorough investigation of the circumstances leading to your loved one’s death, gathering evidence such as medical records, accident reports, and witness statements.
  • Establishing liability: Identifying who is legally responsible for your loved one’s death, whether it’s an individual, company, or government entity, and building a case showing how their negligence or wrongful actions caused the death.
  • Calculating damages: Helping you determine the full extent of your financial and emotional losses, including funeral expenses, medical bills, lost income, loss of companionship, and pain and suffering.
  • Filing a wrongful death claim: Preparing and filing the necessary legal documents to initiate a wrongful death lawsuit within the statute of limitations in your state.
  • Negotiating settlements: Working with the responsible party’s insurance company or legal team to negotiate a fair settlement for your losses.
  • Representing you in court: If a settlement cannot be reached, representing you in court by presenting evidence and making legal arguments to support your case.
  • Handling legal deadlines: Ensuring that all legal filings are completed within the deadlines set by your state’s statute of limitations for wrongful death cases.

How Are Wrongful Death Lawyers Paid?

Wrongful death lawyers typically work on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle the case. Here’s how it generally works:

  • Contingency fee: The lawyer’s fee is usually a percentage of the total settlement or damages awarded, typically ranging from 25% to 40%. You won’t have to pay any upfront fees, and the lawyer only gets paid if they successfully recover compensation for you.
  • No fee if no recovery: If the lawyer does not win or settle your case, you generally won’t owe them any legal fees.
  • Case expenses: In addition to the contingency fee, you may also be responsible for reimbursing the lawyer for case-related expenses, such as court costs, expert witness fees, and investigation costs. These expenses are typically deducted from the settlement or award.

It’s essential to discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to ensure you understand how much you will owe if your case is successful.

How Much Does a Wrongful Death Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a wrongful death lawyer is usually based on a contingency fee structure, meaning you only pay if the lawyer recovers compensation for you. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fee percentage: Most wrongful death lawyers charge between 25% and 40% of the total settlement or court award. For example, if you receive a $500,000 settlement and the lawyer’s fee is 33%, the lawyer would receive $165,000, and you would keep the remaining $335,000.
  • Case expenses: In addition to the lawyer’s fee, expenses such as court costs, expert witness fees, and investigation costs may be deducted from the settlement or award. These expenses can range from $5,000 to $50,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case.

Make sure to ask your lawyer for a clear explanation of their fees and case-related expenses before proceeding with your wrongful death claim.

Top Questions to Ask a Wrongful Death Lawyer

Before hiring a wrongful death lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they have the experience and resources to handle your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with wrongful death cases?
Ensure the lawyer has successfully handled cases similar to yours, whether it’s medical malpractice, car accidents, or workplace deaths.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify the lawyer’s contingency fee percentage and any additional costs, such as case expenses, that you may be responsible for.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of your case and any potential challenges that could affect the outcome.
  4. How long will the process take?
Wrongful death cases can take time to resolve, so ask how long the lawyer expects the process to last, from filing the claim to reaching a settlement or going to trial.
  5. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of the case. Make sure you know who will be managing your case and representing you in court.
  6. What types of damages can I recover?
Ask the lawyer to explain the types of compensation you may be entitled to, such as medical bills, funeral expenses, loss of income, and emotional suffering.

How to Check the Credibility of a Wrongful Death Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable wrongful death lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for wrongful death experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in wrongful death cases and have successfully handled cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have worked with them on wrongful death cases.
  • Check for certifications or memberships: Membership in organizations like the American Association for Justice (AAJ) or local bar associations can indicate the lawyer’s dedication to wrongful death and personal injury law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a wrongful death lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Death certificate: Bring a copy of your loved one’s death certificate, as this is a key document in wrongful death cases.
  • Medical records: If applicable, bring your loved one’s medical records, autopsy reports, or any documentation of their medical care leading up to their death.
  • Accident or incident reports: If the wrongful death resulted from an accident, bring any police reports, accident reports, or workplace incident reports.
  • Financial records: Provide documentation of your loved one’s income, benefits, and financial contributions to the family to help calculate economic damages.
  • Correspondence: Bring any communication you’ve had with the responsible party, their insurance company, or legal representatives.
  • List of questions: Prepare a list of questions for the lawyer about the legal process, potential outcomes, and fees.
  • Timeline of events: Be ready to provide a clear timeline of the events leading up to and following your loved one’s death.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer assess your case more effectively and provide the best possible legal advice.
