Worst experience ever.

I first spoke to Jarica in June of last year (2022), desperately looking to start the divorce process. I was scared because he’s an alcoholic and I wanted to make sure my son would be safe and so I wanted a good legal team to have my back. I paid my non refundable deposit and officially retained her in July. Since she cashed my check, it has been a struggle to get any kind of correspondence from her. The few I have gotten were short and asking questions we had already discussed months prior. Surprisingly, my estranged and I have managed to agree on everything and we even copied a parenting plan already in place from his previous divorce regarding my step son. She literally has had to do very little and yet here I am, almost a year later and I don’t even have anything filed in public records that I even have a case! It’s as if I don’t exist in the courts eyes. Clearly, I’ve been taken advantage of once again, and at my most vulnerable. I really wish I could be one of these good reviews because that would mean I got the “quick divorce” I had originally hired her for. I hope you all get treated better than she’s treating me. I will be filing a grievance with the bar.

Jarica Cairns is the best in the business! I knew from the moment we first spoke on the phone she was the attorney I needed. The divorce process is not easy but with Jarica in your corner you stand a chance. Nothing about my divorce was quick. Jarica’s preparation was unbelievable but it taught me patience. Whatever Jarica asked for I got it and never questioned it because I trusted her. In the end patience is the reason I ended my marriage and walked away with everything I wanted and more. If you want someone that’s going to fight for you but also be completely honest, Jarica is the attorney you NEED!

I’m currently in a nasty custody battle. I retained Jerica after being referred to her by someone I was talking to. Her paralegal, Jay, also works part time for a toy collectors store and my friend introduced me to Jay whom ironically worked for a family law firm. Jay really understood my situation and I had mediation only a few days away. I felt we truly connected and he suggested I come into the firm to meet with Mrs. Cairns for a free consultation. So, I decided to schedule it for the following day. Jerica Cairns. My impression was how sharp and resourceful she was. She didn’t treat me like a number, but she heard me. She seemed so SINCERE about my case. Consultation lasted about three hours and I left the office feeling extremely confident. I could not retain her quite yet because I was waiting to obtain funds, but she gave me a clear view of how to handle myself at mediation; and I was extremely grateful. Mediation came and went, no conclusion had been made between myself, my son’s father or his lawyer. So the mediator filed an impasse and now, in we wait for this to move along. January 12, 2023, funds were available and I paid a very steep $4,000 retainer (which seemed extremely high, but I trusted her). Within my case, Jerica Cairns, illustrated the urgency to get things moving along as my son’s father has been refusing my visitations for years even though we have an established agreement made within the court. Jerica promised she’d have my back and walk alongside me and be the defense I need. I was mislead, entirely. She said all the right things; as did Jay. She meant NOTHING. The moment I came in to pay her, would be the LAST time we would speak until March 27, 23. After I retained her, I had called a couple times. I had only spoken to the secretary with assurances that she would return my call. 5 days later, I was told I need to make an appointment if I want to discuss my case. So I did. “January 20, 23 at noon” The day before my appointment, I was told to call her (by secretary) and not show up bc she was sick and she didn’t want me to come in. I respected the request and on the day of my appointment, I didn’t receive a call by noon so approx by 12:05, I called the office where secretary requested she and I reschedule for 3:45 PM. Disappointed (as I had been trying to call her since the 13th), I felt I had no choice but to agree. 3:45 comes around and I’m told she’s not available yet, but she will call. By 5 PM, I reach out to Jay in text and let him know I had an appt with her and she didn’t honor it, but he ALSO reassured me she was calling me soon. 8 PM, no call. Office closed. Jay isn’t answering now. Monday, I call, I was hung up on. She avoided me for a total of 6 weeks after I paid her. I called my bank to dispute my retainer bc she had DONE NOTHING for my case. She didn’t even file within the court she was my attorney, she did not honor an appointment or EVER call me back regarding that. Her retainer is “non-refundable” BUT SHE DID NOTHING AT ALL TO EARN $4,000. I am a STRUGGLING mother with limited funds. I paid her bc I believed IN her. Fast forward to March 27. I call again and speak to a secretary and I request she calls me bc of how upset I was and I had court for my son in TWO weeks. Jerica FINALLY calls me, but not to apologize or explain. She calls to tell me she wants to withdraw. Some nights, I can BARELY afford to put food on the table. She took my money and fired me 2 months and one week after she was paid and completely ignored me. DO NOT TRUST THIS FIRM. TOTAL CONS WHO WILL NOT HAVE YOUR BACK. They see a dollar sign and not the person. It’s truly despicable to be Frank. I’m NOT the first one she’s done this to. I’m almost certain most of her good reviews are self wrote bc they all say the same. But many others have similar stories to mine and it’s disgusting. You’re better off trusting a homeless man on the corner representing you for a 4 pack of beer who knows nothing about than this con who won’t give you 60 seconds. Do your research. I wish I had.

DO NOT HIRE!! Joseph Cairns set me up and put me in jail he told me to move to Florida to see my son. I did everything he asked me to do, which is not easy, one of the things was to move to Florida. Get a job and establish residence. He told me upon moving to Florida I would get  immediate contact with my son I never got to see my baby boy and he agreed to have an injunction put in place. I was in extreme distress and hired the first person who told me something good, I didn’t read any reviews. There are so many saying do not hire this guy, and it is the truth do not hire him.

If I could give zero star I would. We went into court yesterday and Cody had no idea of any of the details from many months before the case. He also didn’t defend me at all against allegations that weren’t true after I provided written documentation of it.

Everyone that works in this office were very professional, helpful and caring. Even that we never met in person I always felt protected and safe about my case. Thank You Emerson!

I retained Robert Valentine for my divorce and I highly recommend him and his team! They were wonderful and so is their pricing!
