We had a “different” situation. My husband passed in 2018. My son was 10. A family friend stepped in an created an undeniable bond with him. After a few years my son was asking if there was a way that he could become his son. It was a very strange question at the time. I did not respond immediately as i did not really know if/how to make this possible given the circumstances.
