I thought I was at the end of the line with a 16-month battle with the dealership I purchased my new car from. Krohn & Moss represented me in a breach-of-warranty case for a new car that was in the shop three times in the first nine months I owned it. We were offered a settlement by the manufacturer which was about half of what we asked for — understandable. What was not understandable was that Krohn & Moss walked away with over 80% of my settlement. Their fees were adjustable, but that was the lowest they were willing to go. When I told them that distribution was unacceptable to me they reminded me that our attorney client-agreement included a "non-cooperation clause", by which they could sue me for taking no further action on the case. Nothing like being strong-armed into a lopsided deal by your own attorney! I'm all for people being compensated fairly for their time, but if I had known what it was like to work with Krohn & Moss at the outset I would have avoided the whole thing. I hope they enjoyed my settlement money.
