Mr. Coover represented me in a real-estate dispute related to a new construction earnest money down payment in the state of Maryland. I had been dealing with a builder for a new construction on my own and they suddenly changed the price point after I visited the lot and found out it was being built directly under a massive run of power lines. The new lot move required a significant lot premium. Then I was being nickel and dimed do death on everything that wasn't contractor base. Within a week the price had jumped an additional 400K beyond what I was prepared to settle for and I had yet to visit the design center. After taking some time to review my options I elected to not move forward with this builder and the new construction build, primarily because it was going to be extremely difficult to qualify for a new loan at this inflated price point. The builder immediately reached out and wanted me to sign multiple documents, and threatened to pursue the collection of additional funds that they believe I still owed. They wanted me to immediately sign documents stating that I willfully give up my earnest money. I contacted Coover Law Firm to see what could be done about my upfront earnest money. He spent an initial half hour on the phone with me to go over my case and discuss potential options. The retainer was very fair. He sounded knowledgeable and had a prior experience representing clients with this same builder in the past. A few weeks later Mr. Coover notified me that I would be receiving a full refund from the builder, and the original contract agreement was also nullified. This was probably the best experience I've had in working with a lawyer. He knew exactly what to key in on and took care of it without a lot of back and forth. Highly recommended.

We sold a property in Ellicott City, MD in November 2020. Nine months after the Closing, the Title Co. (Xpress Title Services, LLC), still had not remit the Withholding Taxes of about $30,000 to the Maryland Comptroller on our behalf. Furthermore, the Title Co. failed to remit real estate taxes, failed to record the Deed, and failed to record a Deed of Trust. We and the real estate broker reached out to the Title Co. many times with phone calls and emails but they were all ignored.
