I had serious injuries from a collision including multiple fractures on the left side inflicted by a negligent driver of a commercially owned vehicle. When asked, the driver claimed to have fallen asleep at the wheel. Liability was clear. He was issued multiple tickets. Both vehicles were totaled. The injuries were such that I was transported to shock/trauma in Baltimore and held for two days, followed by placement in a rehabilitation/nursing center for over a month. I was treated until ambulatory, released to home for in home care, then later to an aquatic therapy center. The main problem with the case was refusal of Medicare to cover much of the treatment because I was held only for two days. If I had been held an additional day, much of the treatment would have been covered. Mike McGowan and his team (Indira “Indie”) assembled the documentation necessary to pursue the case against the commercial insurance carrier. I always had access to Mike and/or Indie via phone or email. It was important because my wife was stressed out by the situation. Mike and his team relieved that stress to the extent that they could. There were no questions that could not be answered. The problem is that Medicare can be draconian in their responses to accident cases. The result was a Mediation which avoided the expense of a trial and led to six figure settlement in a very conservative jurisdiction (Anne Arundel County). Obviously, I would not hesitate to give my unqualified recommendation to Mike McGowan and his firm for the handling of this case. My wife was extremely stressed by the nursing home bills/liens and time spent trying to get me back to functioning after this event. I specifically want to give a big “Thank You” to Indira for her paralegal work in helping negotiate the lien resolution with Medicare. I was driving down Route 3 in Gambrills with a green light when another driver made a left turn in front of me causing a high speed crash. Both cars were totaled. I didn't know what to do and the insurance company didn't seem like they were looking out for me. I contacted Peter Hatfield at McGowan & Cecil on the advice of family friend who is an attorney. I was pretty seriously injured and I haven't improved even 2 years after the accident. Pretty scary. It became clear pretty quick the insurance company only cared about making me go away and telling me I wasn't as hurt as all my doctor's said. They didn't even want to pay for my medical bills and all my doctor's were in agreement about my injuries. The insurance company delayed as long as they could at every step. The court system takes a long time which was surprising. Peter explained everything and how the process works. Peter fought them the entire time. We even had to file suit since they were being unreasonable. The insurance company made an offer of $11,000, $13,000, then $27,000 and said that is their "final offer" take it or leave it. They were just playing a game. Peter kept putting pressure on esurance and never let off. 1 week before trial, Peter settled my case for $100,000.00. I don't think I would have had the same result with another law firm. While I would gladly trade the money in a second to erase this whole nightmare, knowing everything was being taken care and that Peter and Alyce were working on my case made the best out of a terrible situation.

I never thought I would ever need an attorney for anything, but this practice is amazing! I appreciate everything that Turner and Jennifer have done regarding my case. Even with their busy schedules , their communication is always on point. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Peter Hatfield and his team at McGowan and Cecil are highly recommended. They did a great job keeping me in the loop and walking me through the process and are very personable. When I first came to their office, it was 2 years post-accident, because I thought that I could have handled this matter on my own, but eventually learned that insurance companies will use every trick to pay as little as possible or avoid paying at all. The insurance company made an offer not even to the amount of medical bills I had incurred.
