So far, my experience with Stouffer Legal has been great. The team is extremely friendly, kind, and patient. I had no clue on how to manage the death of my husband and his estate planning with the help of the Stouffer Legal team. I am on the right path to finding out everything that needs to be done. If you are looking for a legal team that is kind, compassionate, understanding, patient, and listens to your concerns, this is the estate legal firm you need.

Waste of time! Called to speak with someone about setting up an trust for my elderly parent, and was told I had to make an appointment and bring them in. Picked them up, drove 35 minutes to the appointment only to be told we had to attend a free informational session before they would assist (!!!!) They couldn’t tell me this over the phone? What a waste of time and complete disregard for an elderly person’s wellbeing. Needless to say, we will find someone else.

It was necessary (for me at least) to have a lawyer/legal team to help guide me thru the estate process, and it made sense to use the firm that drew up my mom's estate docs. There were definitely issues (aside from the fact one of her investments was set up incorrectly - don't know if she didn't understand the instructions they gave or if they were just wrong). At the start of the process Stouffer said contact them with any questions, but I found it difficult to actually get timely (or sometimes any) answers. I would always get an email response (for billing purposes), but rarely get an answer. Sometimes they'd ask about me email on one of our scheduled calls, but those were often weeks afterwards and not timely. The biggest issue occurred when they were preparing the documents to present to the court to close the estate...there were some individual stocks discovered late in the process. I had received paperwork from the Transfer Agent that I asked if they needed; the lawyer said no -the judge doesn't usually look at that stuff. Well, this judgemdid want it and he rejected the filing. It delayed the pour-over of the estate for an additional 2 months, and Stouffer had to update the filing documents and reschedule the court date - it ONLY cost me (the estate) an additional $2000 (yes, for their error). Another note - the letters or emails accompanying their billing statements are extremely aggressive (borderline nasty). I always paid with a check from the estate promptly, and the threatening nature was uncalled for. One time a lawyer I'd never dealt with called ostensibly to ask how things were going, then quickly transitioned into asking for a credit card to pay my latest bill, which I hadn't even seen yet. (I get there are people who don't settle their bills promptly, but save the knee capping for them.) There were a couple other issues, but those above were the primary. I don't live in MD, so wouldn't have occasion to use them again, but would advise family members to look elsewhere if asked.

It was an amazing experience with Stouffer Legal. Colin is a master of presentation, he explained all of the details and gave us a peace of mind to do the Trust. Colin answered all our questions and gave us a lot of advises. He is a pleasure to work with. Very professional, friendly, caring person. The office is nice, clean and there is very good atmosphere. The paralegals and secretary provided the same great atmosphere. All appointments started on time. My family was very impressed. My daughters recieved all of the answers on their questions. We learned of Stouffer Legal through an informational dinner. We had been procrastinating about creating a will, and had been contemplating a trust, but knew very little of the intricacies. The information session was very thorough with multiple real-world examples. We were so impressed we decided to schedule an appointment by the end of the dinner with presenter, lawyer Colin Dolan. During our initial appointment Colin was extremely informative, gave us an overview of the process and answered all of our questions. We decided to create a trust. Colin has made the process seamless, bringing up situations or issues that we hadn't even thought of. Today was our last meeting and we are walking out feeling so much better about how we are leaving our family, as well as our medical wishes. My experience with Stouffer has been nothing short of outstanding. My first meeting with Stouffer was virtual and with my sister who has since passed away. Holly was the attorney on that meeting and was patient, compassionate and very clear and concise as to what Stouffer could offer us. After the call was complete, Holly gave us a timetable as to the next meeting. My sister said I need an earlier meeting - Holly said no problem and accommodated an earlier meeting time. The current attorney working with me is Matt Wathen. Again, patient, allocated the appropriate amount of time for the meeting. Matt answered every question I had, followed up on a timely basis. The actions needed from me were sent to Matt - again- a timely response which was received sooner than I expected. Phone calls are always promptly returned, professional demeanors from everyone I have spoken to - including the receptionist answering the phone. There have been two other attorneys I have had the experience of working with. They too were excellent. They provide advice based on legal standards and explain everything in language that is understandable. I cannot say enough about how they have made a difficult and sad time for me easier than I expected. I would recommend this firm highly to anyone seeking representation and assistance with their estate planning or the estate planning of a loved one. I am very pleased with the service I have received.

At Stouffer Legal my mother and I had the pleasure of doing business with Alex and other staff members . They are all awesome. They are extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
